Not for me, but I can see the appeal.

I really enjoyed Silas working through his issues with his family and the ranch. Or maybe them fixing the issues for him by forcing him to talk about them, but still. That aspect was cool and moving.

I can also appreciate the nods to other books by Tully, even if I've only read this series. Not subtle, but definitely a treat if someone is a fan.

The book is definitely easy to read, despite everything I didn’t like about it. And I mean easy as in 'it reads nicely and fast' not in a 'the language used is simplified to better understand'. Once you're in, you want to continue, even if things rub you the wrong way sometimes.

Also, for quite some time, I believed we were slowly building up to an epic 3rd act breakup, and I'm so glad that's not the case and for once everything went relatively smoothly.

However, I spent the majority of the book simply frustrated with the characters on many fronts.

For a start, I had a problem with understanding the main conflict. Why can't he simply tell her why he stayed away? Why does it matter who the kid's father is? This is nonsensical to me. The first thing shouldn't have been a secret at all, I don't get why he wouldn't just say it when she asked. The second is purely stupid. Why such a fuss? Who cares? It's not like the guy is in the picture or she had a baby out of spite.

I'm also not a fan of Silas's behavior. He's entitled, controlling and pushy. Just because you want something doesn't mean you should force it. If someone says no or you suspect they would had you asked, you don't go looking for loopholes. You shouldn't mess with someone's parenting or use their kid against them in any way. There are other ways of flirting than sexual innuendos. I don't like him, and as much as I understand it was meant to be sexy or come off as taking care of Storm, I saw his behavior as a red flag, because if you don't even ask the woman what she wants and just push her into taking the things you're giving her, will you ever accept a 'no'? It sounds like that kind of relationship which starts out well enough, but ends in the woman being completely controlled by her partner.

When it comes to the spice - what do you mean they don't use protection and he comes inside her? She has a kid from an accidental pregnancy and she's clearly unsure about this relationship lasting, so what the hell? Plus, too many consecutive Os, but that's a preference, just something that personally irks me off.

When it comes to the writing itself - there are small but weird inconsistencies like Silas wanting to grab a coffee because he needs caffeine badly and somehow ending with a lemonade, and Storm feeding Silas's horse but thinking about Skye and suddenly it's Skye who eats the carrot. Details, really, but they bugged me.

Also, I think it's tradition with this series by now, but the editing of the file made for Kindle is terrible.

Lastly, something that recently I've been more and more careful about when choosing ARCs but failed to check before I accepted this one - the author is really elusive when it comes to mentioning who made the art for the book. It's not on her Instagram (or the publisher's), the copyright page, or in the acknowlegements. She also didn't reply to my message and comment asking about it. I don't want to support someone who doesn't support the artists who worked with them, so this is definitely my last book of hers. Besides seeing this as disrespectful, I also simply don't like the lack of transparency, especially at a time when AI is unfortunately more and more common in the writing world (which it should have no space in).

I think most readers who enjoy second chance romance and find controlling MMCs appealing are going to like this. Again, it's just not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for letting me read the ARC.

Saddle Storm by Roxanne Tully

Silas 💘 Storm

I actually really loved the story between these two! Even the way that fate was messed with that one night when Storm was 18 because blessings come in the most creative packaging sometimes.

Single mom, Storm, has been back at her childhood ranch for quite some time and had always been best friends with her secret crush, Silas. Silas had gone off to the big leagues of hockey and, in her mind, never looked back but she never really knew the real reason their interactions had just come to a screeching halt.

Well Silas is BACK baby and he has his eyes set on his prize and nothing stands in his way anymore when it comes to what he wants. I enjoyed the possessiveness of him when it came to Storm. Gotta love a man who knows exactly what he wants and will show you just how he’s gonna get it.

Storm obviously enjoys the domineering side of Silas even after all these years of no contact. She’s a single mom and you need to read the book yourselves if you want to read all the fun stuff that goes on there but she just seemed ready to have someone else take care of her for once. A son, a dad in a care facility, it’s easy to see why she easily passed over the reigns when Silas steps in.

The only thing I would change a little would be the details and the pacing. While I loved the spice, I just felt a big gap in the chemistry. The yearning was there but the transition from winning her over to all of a sudden tying her up in the barn made me go “whoa, did I miss something?” Just gimme more of that chemistry baby and we have liftoff.

I DO recommend this book and this entire series! It’s refreshingly different from the other small town, ranch life romances and that’s always welcome in my TBR!

Tropes:

👢 Second Chance
👢 Small town
👢Hockey player x Ranch girl
👢 Single mom
👢 All the banter

Thank you to NetGalley and Roxanne Tully for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you Roxanne Tully, and Embla Book for the ARC copy of Saddle Storm.

What To Expect
💛 Second Chance
💛 Single Mom
💛 Fish out of water
💛 Golden retriever hero
💛 Pro hockey x Ranch girl
💛 Childhood friends to lovers
💛 "It's always been you"

After a shoulder injury benches hockey star Silas Thorne for six weeks, he's forced to return home to Blue River Ranch, the place he left behind along with Storm Dalton, his childhood best friend. Storm has built a steady life working on the Thorne ranch, and she hasn't forgotten how Silas ghosted her years ago. Even though she's determined to protect herself, her son, and ignore her growing feelings for him, Silas finds himself wanting to stay and win back her trust instead of running away like he usually does.

I knew from book one that Silas Thorne was going to be my favorite Thorne. I love the whole black sheep, fish out of water, misunderstood brother and Silas lived up to my hype. The combination of second chance friends to lovers was the sweetest. I loved Silas’ care and relationship with Storm’s son (give me all the single parent stories.) This was a story of healing and personal growth in so many ways.

If you’re a fan of quick paced second chance romances be sure to move this book to the top of your TBR when it releases 09/23.

Words cannot describe how gorgeous this story is. It warmed my heart and gave me butterflies with how much I loved Storm and Silas.

Saddle Storm is a beautifully sweet second chance, single mum/hockey player romance. Silas is taken out of his hockey season by an injury and returns home to his family ranch to recuperate. Storm has also returned to her hometown and taken a job on his family ranch as a horse riding instructor. Storm is a hardworker to give her son a solid home and safety. She is a huge part of the local community and extended family.

This is a story of teenage mistakes and miscommunication. Storm and Silas missed their first chance at love. But by reuniting as adults and slowburning their way through this narrative, they get a mature chance at a happy ending. Storm is cautious to protect not only her heart, but her son's also. Silas is so determined to support her and be part of her life, but is willing to put in the work and be patient at the same time. He shows real strength and growth to find a role within the town and within his family, to feel less of an outsider.

This is a touching and heartwarming family based story. It fits so well with the brothers stories that have come before and almost gives the happiest of endings to finish the series. I could happily live within these pages forever more and enjoy the warmth of their HEA.

Saddle Storm was a really fun book to read.

I'm not the biggest second-chance trope reader, but this book piqued my interest with the blurb, and I'm so happy I gave it a chance.

I thought that it gave the characters depth, not just with their past but even with flashbacks of it. They both have been through their fair share of past mistakes and hurt, but what they could build and have together would be bigger than anything else they've dealt with before.

She doesn't give in to him when he comes back after being gone for so long, and I really liked that. He didn't come back of his own will, and she was going to just act as if nothing had happened, and they would be back to being friends again.

He isn't thrilled to be in his hometown, but recovering from an injury, he has no other choice. He didn't account for how hard it would be to walk away and leave for the second time especally now with the emotional tension between them.

The banter between these two was something I couldn't get over. I loved how they got to have their chance at love, and seeing it all unfold was such a fun experience.

Thank you, NetGalley, Roxanne Tully, and Embla Books for the early copy of this wonderful read. I loved it!

Thank you Netgalley and Avon for the ARC of Saddle Storm by Roxanne Tully.
I was so happy to jump back into this series. I ate up the first two books. I enjoyed the addition of a hockey player in my cowboy romance series. After finishing book 2, I was pumped for the Silas and Rose story. There is second chance romance, single mom, hockey romance, cowboy romance, distrust, backstory, and previous series characters in the story to round this book out into a work of art. I will continue to recommend this author because she can write a story that will suck you in and feel the story as if you are there with the characters.
Silas is a pro hockey player and brother to Wilder and Dallas who run Blue River Springs. An injury forces him off the ice and to recuperate on the ranch with his family to help. Storm grew up on the farm and was best friends with Silas. She crushed so hard when they were kids. She now works as a trainer/teacher on the farm and now they are forced to interact after a “falling out”. She has a son Silas doesn’t know about and she doesn’t want him to know about because that’s a whole can she doesn’t want to open. She avoids him, he tries to avoid her. The crash is epic and you just can’t put this story down.

WOW, I have adored this series and what a way to end it. 'He's like a piece of pie I know I'm going to regret eating.' DAMN what a book, I was so excited for this from the hints we saw in the last book of their relationship. Seeing the reveals of what happened when they were kids which got them to where they are now. The family meddling and getting involved so Silas finds out Storm's secret, the way he steps up and ensures both Storm and Max he is not going anywhere.

Silas is back home somewhere he feels he has not fitted in since his mum died, this time he has no choice and has to recover from an injury and cannot shoot off from a quick visit. However whilst his back he wants to repair his friendship with the girl he used to run around the ranch with only she's not so sure she could let him in. Storm is a struggling single mother, who could use a hand and when that comes in the shape of Silas it just adds to her confusion. The tension is beautiful, I loved every minute of this, the resistant bands, the counters what a great wrap up to the series. I cannot wait to see what is next from Roxanne Tully,

Cowboy romances and hockey romances are a dime a dozen in the romance genre these days, so I have to sort of roll my eyes when I see them BOTH combined into ONE book. This just is not... well, realistic. But anyway, I decided to read it regardless because I have read the other two books in the series and although I didn't care for them that much, I am nothing if not a stickler for continuity, so I made it a point to read the third book.

And it was okay, I guess. I really like Storm and think she is strong, resilient, and an admirable FMC. I love that she is a single mom, even though I don't particularly love how she got there. I also liked the second chance aspect and the history between her and Silas. Those were the only highlights for me so not much positive to say, unfortunately.

But Silas was a freaking walking red flag if I ever read one. We are supposed to love this guy, but he just came across as entitled, rude, pushy, and overbearing to me. He is the definition of not really understanding the word "no" because he's used to getting what he wants. And that was a MAJOR turn off for me. Huge ick. I just could not get on board with him as the sweet and loveable golden retriever I think we were supposed to see him as.

I did like the cover art and that whole style, which reminds me a lot of Lyla Sage, but as another reviewer pointed out, it's weird that we know nothing about the artist and they aren't credited anywhere.

I think this was just okay, wth some issues that stand out. I liked Storm much more than I liked the romance itself, and unfortunately Silas was just the worst and I could not get past that to get on board with the romance. I am expecting more going forward but unsure as to whether or not I will get it.

I received this book as an ARC read from NetGalley. This story was a 2nd chance romance between a strong willed FMC and a sports star MMC. I wanted to love their 2nd chance but the FMC was strong on her viewpoints at first but then as the story progressed she became like a push over. The MMC isn't used to hearing people say No to him and he carries baggage of not fitting into the ranch life like his brothers. The FMC has a son from a one night stand that turns out to be his ex best friend. The "problem" of the story shouldn't have been a problem at all. I didn't really care about who she had the kid with what mattered was that he wasn't in his life. The MMC made it into a big deal when he found out who the father was. It just didn't make sense, also her dad getting in the way when they were younger to have them apart and the MMC just giving in and not telling her even after all these years even though he is pretty stalking her at the ranch. I know this book 3 of the series but it was fine reading it alone and not starting with the series. You still were caught up with the stories of the other two brothers.

I received a copy of this for my honest review and absolutely loved this story.

Our MMC is the youngest brother, and has always felt a bit like an outsider. His mother passed when he was young, and instead of having him train to take on ranching duties like his brothers - his dad pushed him to go into hockey once he found it. To him it felt like he wasn't good enough to stay, but he made due. It was better when his best friend, our FMC, spent time on the ranch with him until her father told him to stay away. Our FMC didn't understand what happened and why their friendship ended, and through so manipulative situations she thinks he's moved on from her, has one night with someone else and ends up pregnant. Now he is back at the ranch recouping from a bicep surgery, and she works there training horses. Years may have passed, but the connection hasn't faded, and it's playing with his head - what does he want more? the career he has known and loved or the woman who has never left his mind?

Thank you to Roxanne Tully and their team for this ARC!

This was my first read from Roxanne Tully, and I really enjoyed it! A second-chance romance, a single-mum FMC, a cowboy setting, and plenty of yearning...what more could you ask for?

Our FMC, Storm, and MMC, Silas, grew up together in the country until Silas left to pursue his ice hockey career, leaving Storm behind. Years later, circumstances bring them back together, but neither of them is the same person they once were.

Storm has become a strong, independent single mum, relying on herself as she raises her son. Meanwhile, Silas has settled into the city lifestyle and, along the way, lost touch with some of the person he used to be.

I loved watching them find their way back to each other while navigating everything that has changed between them. There’s plenty of yearning, intimate moments, and, of course, a whole lot of found family.

Such a lovely read, and I’ll definitely be checking out more from Roxanne Tully!

I couldn't wait to dive back into Blue River Springs one last time, and Saddle Storm was the perfect way to end the series. An easy 5-star read that had me hooked from the very beginning.

I absolutely loved Silas and Storm's story. Watching two best friends who'd known each other since they were kids finally get their chance was everything I wanted, and I loved that they never truly gave up on each other.

Silas' relationship with Storm's son, Max, was so lovely to read, and Max and Ellie's friendship was just too cute. The family banter with Silas' brothers had me smiling throughout and reminded me why I've loved this series so much.

I'm so sad to be saying goodbye to Blue River Springs, but this was the perfect ending. I can officially say Saddle Storm is my favourite book of the series, and Roxanne Tully couldn't have wrapped it up any better.

I read the authors note at the end of this book, about her wondering how to write Silas' story, and having read the previous brother's books I had wondered the same.
Silas and Storm were best friends growing up, until Silas was told he wasn't good enough and told to stay away. Fast forward a decade and he's an injured hockey star back on his family ranch where she now works.
Having read the previous two books, I fell straight into this one and gobbled it up! I absolutely loved this book and didn't put it down - it was the prefect read while on holiday.
I loved Silas and Storm, and of course the chance to catch up with all of the other characters from Blue River Springs.
I highly recommend this series and can't wait to see what Roxanne Tully brings us next.

Oh what a treat to be back in Blue River Springs! I adored the first two books in the series and this one was no different!

Hockey players and cowboys what more could you want in a small town romance. Silas and Storm are a perfect couple, there chemistry is off the charts from page one of this second chance/friends to lovers romance. Plenty of banter, flirty fun and loads of heart warming moments, filled with found family vibes! This was a perfect cosy, pick me up read, mostly romance driven, but plenty of sprinkles of all the other characters we had met in previous books, it really felt like visiting old friends.

Could recommend the series enough, but this one is a special place in my heart (I’m a sucker for a hockey player)! Thanks to NetGalley and Embla books for access to this arc.

Roxanne Tully has done it again! Saddle Storm is a beautiful second-chance romance that blends small-town charm, cowboy life, and just the right amount of emotional angst. Silas and Storm's story had me hooked from the very first page, and I couldn't get enough of their chemistry.

Roxanne's writing is one of my favourites. She creates characters that feel so real, and the emotions, banter, and slow rebuilding of trust make every chapter impossible to put down. I found myself completely invested in their journey.

If you love heartfelt cowboy romances with childhood friends, second chances, and plenty of heart, Saddle Storm is an absolute must-read. Another easy five-star read from Roxanne Tully!

Roxanne Tully is an author genius!

This series has been absolutely delightful, with ups and downs along the way, it’s been a brilliant romantic series with 3 gorgeous couples finding their person and happily ever after.

Book 3 holds the same appeal as book 1 and 2 - although it’s from a different angle being less rancher and more focused on Silas and his Hockey career.

Storm is a fascinating and charming FMC, she’s got such determination - although some may call it stubborn - she knows what she wants and she wants to work hard to get there, but Silas forces Storm to allow others to care for her and her son, it’s lovely to see.

It’s not often we see a strong woman go soft for her man, usually it’s the other way around so this was a lovely change.

The whole time I was reading this book I was like "Yep, that'll do!". Like, this man is everything, ugh, I just loved Silas. I am not always a fan of second chance or a fan of single mom but this book takes both of those things and just makes them right. It's steamy and sweet and honestly I think this is my favorite of the series. I also really liked seeing characters from the other book and their interactions with Silas and Storm. This series will definitely be on my top recommended cowboy romance list!

This was a fantastic Hockey x Cowboy romance. Silas is back at Blue River Ranch after an injury in his hockey life and comes across his childhood best friend Storm who has been working at his family’s ranch.

These two are so sweet together even with Storm being a bit frosty initially. Storm as a single mother had to always protect herself and her son so I absolutely love how supportive Silas is of Storm and Max even with his own struggles he was still there for them both.

I also loved Silas’ development on himself and Storm getting in there and helping him whether it be mentally or physically. They are a great couple even through all the drama they come back to each other.

Thanks to @netgalley @roxtully.author & @emblabooks for the ARC in return for my honest review.

This is the 3rd book in the #BlueRiverSprings series and follows the story of estranged childhood besties, Silas & Storm. Its a bit of a crossover Hockey x Cowboy romance. It was an easy read, I wouldn't say it was particularly spicy apart from a couple of parts. Out of the 2, Storm was the strongest character, I wasnt too convinced by Silas, there wasn't as much chemistry between them as the main characters in the previous 2 books had. The back stories of the other characters wa great to read little Max kind of stole the show!

I've read this whole series and I honestly think this one is my favorite! LOVED Silas' character so much. Love all the brothers relationships. Loved little Max and Ellie. Storm was such a good mother and protective of her son in all the best ways. I cried in a few parts, I'm also an emotional basket case. They ended with happy tears though! Sad the series is over but what a way to finish and CANNOT wait to see what Roxanne has in store for us next!
P.s. why can't a hot, rich, hockey player just sweep in and invade my life?! Santa, please remember me at Christmas.

This was a very sweet story. I really liked both characters’ growth, together and individually, learning to trust each other again after all these years and that it is ok to lean on the people around you. The story of how they grew apart, for what reason, and how they reconnected and got back together was very cute. I loved seeing Silas mend his relationship with his father and brothers, and seeing Storm finally accept that she was part of the Thorne family all along.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, so I was eager to finally learn more about the mysterious younger brother. I love a second‑chance romance, and the flashbacks to their childhood added so much depth and tenderness to Storm and Silas’s story.

Storm and all her secrets and Silas finally realising this is his last shot with her — it made for such a compelling dynamic.

I did feel the ending was slightly inconclusive, but I’m still invested in this world and excited to see if we will get more of this world.

I love this series and I also love hockey romance so actually this was the perfect book for me! I really enjoyed every single second of this one. I started it at bedtime and finished at 1am 🤣 I just couldn’t stop reading it. Silas is the perfect book boyfriend and I think he’s actually my fave of the 3 brothers. I’m hoping we get one more book in this series even though technically he’s not a brother 🤞🏻
