Ivy and Janet resolve their differences in a very sensual sequence. More should definitely be said about how pro-romance this book is. There have been quite a few hookups, and everyone involved seems okay with it. Takara draws some gorgeous love scenes.
This serves as mostly closure to the previous arc especially with Janet and Pam. Things are set to ramp up as we get a visit from a familiar face. I enjoyed the dialogue and resolution that this issue provided while serving as a good segway to the next part of the story.
That was such a fast issue but it got its point across so well for the next direction we are taking why leaving so much left to discover while giving us some of the best art and paneling I’ve read in this series! I loved it! The central idea we start this issue with is that of balance in nature. Ivy explains that there is one, but it is constantly at war with itself. “To eat, you must kill. A plant or an animal. And then in turns you yourself will die, and feed the earth.” Right now Janet is out of balance with herself, but nature does not create a problem without leaving the ingredients for a solution. Ivy gives venom as an example, to make antivenin you need the components of the poison itself. As Janet sleeps Ivy prepares the solution to her problems…by cutting up Bog Venus and serving them as breakfast. Ivy can’t really cook, but the air has been loaded with plant pheromones that make everything taste delicious. And as Janet chows down on an assortment of food all made from Bog, Ivy holds her breath wondering if she will be overcome by the poison or the cure. Suddenly things start to shift in the right direction for Janet, the growth that formed throughout her body is starting to recede and she is starting to feel a connection to life itself. It’s to the point that her speech bubbles have a slight touch of green on the outsides, as she is leaning slightly towards Ivy’s full connection to the world. She feels how Ivy feels all the time, it’s breathtaking and she can’t understand how Ivy can stand it…Ivy can’t, she admits she is on the verge of loosing her mind everyday which is why she tries so hard to control the things she can. But Janet feels like if she has this power she wouldn’t hurt anything ever again, this slight reminder and difference of perspective is enough to get Ivy to breakdown and cry and apologize for everything. She admits that after a while you take the power for granted and only remember the pain. But suddenly the world warriors as colors fill the white spaces of the panels and Janet jumps across the table for the two to embrace. At the end of the day they are still of the flesh, pleading for those small moments when time stands still and it is just the two of them.
But of course time doesn’t stand still, and back in Seattle Undine has a problem, the cops are on their way to bust up the order and they are looking to Undine to give them commands. He thinks about fleeing north towards the border but instead decides to make for the woods, bring only what you can carry and pray the woods will protect us from their enemies. Undine admits that they continue to be hunted because Ivy refuses to settle her debts, if they are to find peace with the authorities then there is only one person who could possibly make Ivy see reason. So Undine decides to split off from the group and pick them up, leaving the rest of the group to continue on and hope they never cross paths with him again.
Back in Marshview, Ivy and Janet wake back up in other’s embrace. It seems that Janet is fully healed now but she has a small growth coming out of her hand, that Ivy describes as being there to prepare for what comes “next.” Is Janet undergoing a transformation like Ivy?! Ivy tells Janet the growth in her hand is called a ghost pipe, a parasitic plant that can only grow in the presence of specific fungi. Her body has reached a stasis where it isn’t fighting itself anymore. But we don’t get more on that as the pair are interrupted by a booming voice as Harley Quinn steps out of the woods with Undine right behind her! Hahahaha! Ivy is of course embarrassed and trying to explain how complicated things have gotten, but Harley isn’t too concerned about that as she is here to talk to Ivy about going back to Gotham and settling things before there isn’t anywhere else for her to go back to at all.

Love the art. Janet gets her groove back. Undine really doesn't want to be a leader. 😆 And HQ...omg what have they done to her? Why the constant redesigns? Without going back and looking at them all, I think this is the worst one. ರ_ರ (Yes, I knew about the redesign before this and didn't dock the star for that. Overall enjoyed the issue, but wasn't in love with it )
3 stars. *sigh* I just want Harlivy why does this series insist on giving me PamelaxJanet from Hr? I will admit that I did squee a bit at seeing Harley at the end. This issue felt like filler, nothing really happened but I’m just glad that Harley is back.
i wish i could convey in words how little i care about janet from hr. like it's been 39 issues. she's still just as irrelevant as her very first scene. GIRL, GIVE IT UP.
i liked this issue for the nature commentary and for harley showing up at the end, though.
a decent bridge between arcs. But it's clear Ivy hasn't learned a thing from what happened between her and Janet, which sucks. I'm glad Undine is becoming part of the main cast though.
