Matteo Rossi My father is finally ready to hand over control of our family’s empire to me, but he has one condition before I can become don of the Rossi I must marry a woman of his choosing. My father’s greatest joy was his marriage, and he is adamant that the same be said for me. I tell him have no interest in a wife; she’ll just be a distraction I don’t need, but he believes I need a woman to keep me grounded and his condition is set, so I must obey. But when I meet my bride-to-be, I realize my father and I were both right. Sofia is a distraction…and she’s exactly what I need. I might be the most formidable man in New York City, but Sofia is more formidable still because she has the power to bring me to my knees. And when an unknown enemy reveals themselves, I’m ready to go to war for the woman I love. My wife.
Sofia Marino An arranged, loveless marriage like the one that keeps both of my parents miserable seems like a fate worse than death. I’d much rather pursue a career in fashion design and leave all dreams of romance to my younger sisters. But just as I’m ready to embark on my new career, my father drops a bomb on me. He’s not only arranged for me to marry, but he’s promised me to Matteo Rossi, the notorious mafia prince set to assume his father’s throne. I might have spent the last several years living abroad, but even I’ve heard of Matteo…and none of it was good. He’s cold and aloof and everything I’ve dreaded in a husband. Or so I assume until our wedding day when I see a side of him I never expected. Now I’m not so sure our marriage will be loveless after all, but that could make it all the more devastating. Will my husband break my heart, or will his enemies get to me first?

I've been waitinggg for a new mafia series from Cassi Hart, and this was off to a great start!! Matteo and Sophia are both pretty much forced into an arranged marriage. They don't expect love to come from it... but it does. There's plenty of heat, some sweet moments, and suspense - I read this novella in one sitting!
SAFETY & SPOILERS: Virgin/celibate: virgin heroine, not a manwhore hero Ages: 24h, 38H OM/OW: none Cheating/sharing: none HEA?: yes!
An Arranged Marriage That Turns Into a Power Couple
Bride for the Mobster pulled me in fast and never let go. What starts as a cold, duty-bound arranged marriage quickly turns into something far more intense—and surprisingly emotional. Matteo may be the feared heir to a crime empire, but watching him lose his iron control where Sofia is concerned was half the fun.
Sofia was a standout for me. She doesn’t walk into this marriage wide-eyed or naïve; she’s wary, intelligent, and determined not to disappear into someone else’s shadow. The tension between her independence and Matteo’s need to protect and possess creates a great push-and-pull dynamic that feels natural for the world they’re in.
I also loved how the story balanced romance with danger. The mob backdrop isn’t just set dressing—there’s real threat, real stakes, and a clear sense that loving Matteo comes with consequences. His “touch her and die” energy is strong, but it’s grounded by genuine devotion rather than empty posturing.
This is a quick, addictive read with high chemistry, strong character chemistry, and a satisfying HEA. If you enjoy mafia romances with arranged marriages, morally gray heroes, and heroines who quietly hold their own, this is a great start to the series.

There’s quite a lot pack into this short story and it’s riveting. Arranged manage, falling for your groom, getting your career, kidnapped for revenge and a hot love. What a story and what a read! Total enjoyment for an afternoon.

Neither Sofia nor Matteo wants an arranged marriage, but they're getting one.
Sofia Marino was educated in Europe. First a Swiss boarding school and then staying to earn an MBA at a European university. Now she's back at her parents' home in New York City. She's looking forward to finding her own apartment and no longer living with her parents. She has no idea of what her father has planned for her. She won't be happy about it either! She has yet to tell her parents, especially her father, that she's accepted a job as a junior designer at a distinguished fashion house.
Her parents' home is a gilded cage to her. Giovanni Marino's four daughters are currency to him, and he has big plans for Sofia. Plans that she will hate. He's new money, while the Rossi family is old money. Giovanni has clawed his way into their society, but old money will always trump new money.
She barely finishes telling her parents what she wants to do with her life when she's told of their plans for her to marry Matteo Rossi. Her parents have an arranged marriage, and if hers is to be like theirs, she's not interested! They never really ever talk to each other. They seldom even touch one another, and they even have separate bedrooms. About the only things her mother likes about her marriage are the luxury items she receives as gifts and her wardrobe. Before their conversation can continue, the butler announces the arrival of her fiancé.
Matteo Rossi is the son of the Mafia Don, Leonardo Rossi. He's been his father's underboss for years, and there's no question that he's more than capable of taking over the position. He doesn't want a wife any more than Sofia wants a husband. But he needs his father's blessing to keep the respect and power that accompany the position of the new Don of the Rossi family. Leonardo made an agreement with Giovanni Marino for Matteo to wed Sofia. She will receive his family's name, and her family will gain the protection and connections of the Rossi name.
Sofia surprises Matteo. She's gorgeous but seems shy and definitely not what he expected. He thought she would have already been hardened enough to handle this sort of life. As the eldest child and with no sons in the family, he thought she would have already been groomed to take over her father's business. He expected her to be already hardened by life and as icy as her mother. He also thought she'd be so consumed by her career that she'd overlook what was going on in his. Despite this, one look at her and he feels desire. Surely he can make her need him...
Matteo's parents had an arranged marriage that turned into a love match. It had been arranged by Matteo's grandfather. That's what his father wants for Matteo. But after seeing how much his father mourned the loss of his wife, Antonia, Matteo isn't so sure he ever wants that much pain in his life.
Leonardo insisted the wedding be held in a church, telling Matteo, "It's what your mother would have wanted." Matteo and his three brothers all loved their mother, a devout Catholic who always told her boys that family is the most important thing in the world, so he couldn't say no to the request. Seeing his bride, he's glad he agreed.
It's not long until Matteo realizes that he's in love with his wife. He's confused when Sofia mentions his first wife. She explains that his work has always been his first wife. She appreciates that he is trying to come home for a late supper every night, but she wishes she wouldn't be waking up alone every morning. A note is no substitute for a flesh-and-blood husband, but it seems that his first wife still has a claim on him.
All at once things are going wrong for the family business. Matteo isn't certain if it's enemies of the family or somebody closer to the family. But when whoever is behind the trouble tries involving Sofia in it, there will be retribution!

It started interesting enough. An arranged marriage between an established mafia family, the Rossi clan, and the unknown Marino family trying to build themselves up in New York City. It was supposed to be a business deal. Matteo, 38, about to become the new Don, taking the reigns from his father as a married man. And Sofia Marino, 24, the eldest daughter with dreams of designing clothes and working for money instead of it being handed to her. She was a pawn for her Father's business deals basically and she was going to have an arranged marriage like her own parents did.😱 Her parents told Sofia her dreams of fashion will end as soon as she got married.🫰🏻🫰🏻🫰🏻🙊🥀🥀🥀
But somewhere, as the story rushed itself from one moment to the next, I found there wasn't enough character build up, world building, or me getting invested in this marriage 'dilemma'. No time was spent in letting the characters navigate and grow for more than a few paragraphs. It hurled itself like time was running out.🏁🚦🏎️💨💨💨💨 I don't know if there was a time crunch or a deadline to meet for publication, but it did effect the flow of the storytelling. When did Matteo get a beard, then tattoos? It was never mentioned before. Why did Sofia not meet Matteo's little sister at her wedding the day before? She met his brothers, but not Gabby, her sister-in-law?😒 That makes no sense. This was a mob family and Sofia didn't have a bodyguard assigned to watch over her while Matteo took care of.... whatever he took care of day after day.🤷🏻🤷🏽♂️
Matteo didn't want a wife, he wanted instant physical gratification. Suddenly he was obsessed with Sofia but he wasn't around her very much.🤔 Sofia, who only lasted for a chapter in saying she didn't want a husband, wouldn't make it easy and give in to him, crumbled 15 minutes before the wedding.😂😂 Really, Sofia? That's all it took. Where was the banter? The flirting? The building of attraction and trust? Where's the sass? Pushing back? Her dreams? Did Sofia know this family was the mob? And the big bad. Again, no build up, just thrown in as extra at the end for drama. It was like putting puzzle pieces together that didn't quite fit.🧩🧩🧩 There was rough intimate moments more than anything else. Which is fine, but you have to have more going on. If you want spice, there was plenty of it.💋🥵🥵🥵 Sofia, to me, lost herself. It was about her man, when he wanted her, even when he was gone for 12 hours out of the day. She went to work, but again, it was only touched on for a few sentences. It was her sitting at home, waiting, for him to come home.😮💨😮💨 If Matteo was supposed to be a shady mob guy, nothing was really revealed or shared. I don't know. The idea was there. Maybe it was b/c it was a shorter book? I do believe Matteo and Sofia did love each other.👩🏻❤️💋👨🏽
I know there will be more books for Sofia's sisters and her twin female cousins (no idea where their parents are) and Matteo's younger brothers and stepbrother having their own stories. Maybe they will get married to each other, who knows. I just expected... more with this one. The book cover is cool but a little misleading with those skulls.💀💀💀 I'm not trying to be mean with my review, it takes work to write a book, but I'm going tbh with what I read. If you want to read it, please do. Maybe your reading experience will be different than mine. Good luck. Happy reading.*•>§<•*🗽💖💖💖

I think this is one of my fav Cassi books and I can't wait for the rest in the series!
Sophia has accepted a job as a fashion designer in another city, as it's been her dream to design clothes. But her parents have other plans for her; she's to marry and have children. So when they have a guest over and find out she is being given away for marriage, she's shocked.
Matteo is ready to take his place as the Don of the family, but his father has made a condition: he must be married before he will step down. So he agreed to take Sophia as a wife.
Matteo was known to be ruthless and a workaholic, but with Sophia, he was dominant, possessive and protective. Sofia was brought up to be a polite girl who needed to look naive but she wasn't as innocent as people belived. She was brave and followed her heart. I couldn't get enough of these two, their chemistry was palpable and their time "between the sheets" (and other places!) was steamy. 🌶️
There was a tiny bit of suspense and action when someone decided to take Sophia. And Matteo was ready to burn the world to get to her. 🥰
This book isn't heavy on plot but there is a story. It focuses more of the MCs relationship but it's also not super heavy on their development. But Cassi still does a great job in creating a story with characters I feel in love with. It is heavy on the spice, which I absolutely was all here for and hope it continues in the next books. If there was anything I would have changed in this book it would just be that I wanted to read more!

She wanted independence, he wanted control, together they burn.
Sofia thinks she has her life planned: a career in fashion, freedom, and no room for a loveless arranged marriage. That all changes when her father promises her to Matteo, a notorious New York mafia heir. Cold, commanding, and untouchable, Matteo is everything she fears and can’t ignore.
From the moment they meet, sparks fly with tension, desire, and unspoken power. Their first night hints at a marriage neither expected: fiery, intense, and complicated. Matteo’s protective intensity challenges Sofia’s independence, while her cleverness and courage push him in ways he never imagined.
Love in Matteo’s world comes with danger. Family rivalries and hidden enemies create constant threats, forcing him to fight to keep her safe. Through it all, they discover trust, passion, and a bond that turns obligation into devotion.
Their story pushes them to the limits, testing loyalty, resilience, and the strength of their love in a world where stakes are always high.
Sofia grows from a cautious, independent woman into a confident designer embracing her life and choices. Matteo evolves from a distant, controlling heir into a devoted partner who balances authority with care and vulnerability. Their relationship shifts from reluctant tension to passionate intimacy, building a partnership grounded in love, respect, and shared commitment.
A steamy, age gap, mafia, arranged marriage, alpha hero, instalove, protective, morally gray romance exploring love, trust, personal growth, loyalty, power, and resilience. It’s about two strong-willed people navigating a forced marriage that grows into deep passion and devotion, learning to protect, challenge, and depend on each other. High-stakes, intense, and emotionally charged, it’s about finding connection and love in a world where nothing is guaranteed.
The Elevator Pitch: A powerful mafia heir and a determined young designer are thrust into a marriage that ignites with forbidden passion and unrelenting desire. As danger, family loyalty, and betrayal swirl around them, their connection deepens into a fierce, all-consuming love. Intense, steamy, and charged with suspense, their story explores trust, power, and the thrill of a love that is as commanding as it is consuming.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐️ Bride for the Mobster Book 1 of Lords of New York by Cassi Hart
Bride for the Mobster delivers exactly what fans of mafia romance crave: an arranged marriage, dangerous power plays, and a cold, lethal hero who turns unexpectedly devoted once he claims his bride.
Matteo Rossi is the classic mafia prince—controlled, ruthless, and bred to rule. His reluctance to marry feels authentic, rooted not in playboy arrogance but in discipline and legacy. Becoming don means sacrifice, and Matteo approaches marriage the same way he approaches power: as a duty. What makes him compelling is how quickly that duty transforms into fierce, possessive devotion once Sofia enters his world. His internal shift from obligation to obsession is satisfying and well-paced.
Sofia is not a passive pawn, which elevates the story. She fears becoming trapped in a loveless marriage like her parents’, and her desire for independence and a fashion career gives her real stakes outside the romance. She’s wary, observant, and far stronger than Matteo initially expects. Their dynamic crackles because Sofia doesn’t submit easily—she challenges him, unsettles him, and ultimately becomes his emotional anchor.
The arranged marriage trope is handled well, with tension built through assumptions on both sides. Sofia expects a monster; Matteo expects a distraction. What unfolds instead is a surprisingly tender relationship layered over real danger. The moments where Matteo protects Sofia—emotionally and physically—are where the book shines brightest. His transition into a “touch her and die” husband is swift but deeply satisfying.
The mafia backdrop adds stakes without overwhelming the romance. Threats feel real, and the danger serves to deepen their bond rather than distract from it. Matteo’s willingness to wage war for Sofia reinforces the central theme: power means nothing without someone worth protecting.
Bride for the Mobster is a strong start to the Lords of New York series. It’s fast-paced, steamy, and emotionally grounded enough to make the romance believable despite the high-drama setting. Perfect for readers who love possessive mafia heroes, reluctant brides, arranged marriages that turn passionate, and heroines who quietly command the room—even among mobsters. 🔥💍.

Some arranged marriage romances smolder. This one detonates.
In Bride for the Mobster by Cassi Hart, we meet two people who never asked for marriage—yet may be the only two who could ever survive each other.
Matteo Rossi is about to claim his place as Don, but first he must obey his father’s final demand: marry. He wants power, not love… until he lays eyes on Sofia Marino. One moment and he’s undone—distracted, obsessed, desperate to make her his in every sense that matters.
Sofia, meanwhile, has dreams sewn in ambition and fabric. She wants runways, not rings. Fashion design, not family expectations. Yet in one dinner, one decision made for her, she’s promised to the most dangerous man in New York. The mafia prince. The cold legend. The man she was raised to fear.
Only… the wedding reveals something no rumor ever prepared her for: Matteo looks at her like she’s oxygen. Like she’s salvation. Like he would burn the city to ashes if she asked.
And honestly? He would.
Their marriage of convenience becomes anything but convenient. It’s magnetic. Heated. Vulnerable in ways neither expected. 🌶️ Matteo is ruthless to the world but soft with his wife—dominant, protective, and devastatingly in love. Sofia pushes back, stands tall, and refuses to be a silent mafia wife. She’s brave, cunning, and entirely capable of matching him step for step.
So when an enemy strikes… Matteo doesn’t negotiate. He declares war.
I can't get over how this short story managed to pack the punch it did. Even with it being a short read, it managed to check every box I had for what I consider a perfect read. It was that good!
This is the story of Matteo and Sofia.
Twenty-four year old Sofia had, after graduating college, recently been offered the job of her dreams at a fashion company. With the new job lined up, she planned to move out of her family home and begin her life. Only, as she goes to tell her overprotective parents her plans, she's blindsided with news of their own; they've arranged her marriage to none other than Matteo Rossi, the next mafia don. Marriage was the last thing Sofia wanted, even if her intended is the most gorgeous man she's ever seen, especially a marriage that was as cold and unfeeling as her parents, but no amount of pleading or begging with her parents alters the marriage agreement, so Sofia finds herself engaged instead of heading off on her own.
Matteo had no intention of tying himself to a person that would take the focus of his attention by marrying, but his father, the current don, refuses to step down as don until Matteo marries, so the arrangement is made with Sofia's father for her hand, along with some business prospects. During their first meet over dinner, Matteo is captivated by Sofia's beauty, but he notes she seems too docile and afraid of him, something he later learns is an act because Sofia refuses to submit and be weak for him. This, of course, intrigues him more.
After they marry, and a hot encounter right before their nuptials, Matteo finds himself hungering for his new bride, so he leads her away from their reception, and things REALLY get spicy. There's no doubt Matteo and Sofia have strong, visceral chemistry, but can they build a love for the ages when their beginning was forced upon them, or was their union always destined to be a failure?
I can not express enough how much I enjoyed this book. I could not put it down, and I was sad to see there was no more when I reached the end. I needed more! Can not recommend this enough!

Sofia Marino returns to New York believing she’s finally stepping into independence. Years spent in Europe shaped her into someone ambitious and self-directed, and she’s eager to leave her parents’ mansion behind, build a career in fashion, and live on her own terms. What she doesn’t realize is that her father has never viewed her dreams as relevant. To Giovanni Marino, family is strategy, and his daughters are assets meant to secure power, influence, and protection.
Matteo Rossi is trapped in a different kind of cage. As the heir to a powerful crime family, his future has been decided since childhood. He’s respected, capable, and feared—but he has no desire to marry for appearances. Unfortunately, tradition and loyalty matter more than personal wants. His father believes a strong marriage will stabilize the family and solidify Matteo’s rise to leadership, especially one that ties them to the newly wealthy Marinos.
When Sofia and Matteo are forced together, both resist in different ways. Sofia refuses to quietly accept a life designed by others, especially one that mirrors her parents’ cold, transactional marriage. Matteo assumes emotional distance is safer, having watched how deeply love once hurt his own father. Yet as they navigate their unwanted union, expectations unravel. Sofia begins to see the cost of Matteo’s world, while Matteo realizes that power means nothing if it costs him the one person who challenges and grounds him.
As trouble begins to surface around the family business, Matteo becomes aware that the danger may not be coming from where he expects. Sofia, once meant to be nothing more than a symbolic bride, is slowly drawn into a world she never chose. What started as a forced agreement becomes something neither of them can easily walk away from. When Sofia is put at risk, Matteo is forced to acknowledge how deeply she has come to matter.
Short but addictive so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Sofia has been shipped off to Europe for education (boarding school) stayed to earn her MBA at the university then back home in NY with the parents who shipped her away looking forward to her freedom of living on her own, making a life for herself, after accepting a job as a junior designer at a well-known fashion house only to learn her father doesn’t have her best interest at heart and she isn’t happy about living in a gilded cage of her father’s making. Giovanni sees his daughters as currency despite their plans for their own life, he has made plans for Sofia after getting in with the Rossi family upon coming home she tells them of her plans only for her father to tell her he has arranged her marriage to one of the Rossi boys. Matteo sexy as all get out son of the mafia Don he isn’t a man you want on your radar, works as his father’s underboss but has been prepared to take over the family business for years, he is dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly every day, he doesn’t want a wife but to for the respect of his father he will marry as requested and in return her family gains protection, connections through a marriage. He assumed she would be used to their lifestyle but meeting her he realizes that isn’t the case and that makes him want her and it makes him want her to want him. Matteo’s parents were arranged marriage that lead to love that is what his father wants with him but will Sofia give him a real chance, will she give them a chance, will she give up on herself like her mother ending up in a loveless marriage, when their enemy starts to cause chaos starting with her will he step up saving her putting an end to it all, will he prove he can protect her, and are they headed for happiness?
Bride for the Mobster is Book 1 in Cassi Hart's new Lords of New York Series. As stated in the online description it is an Italian Mafia Arranged Marriage story. Matteo needs a wife to be the Rossi Don. My own opinion, I just do not associate "Lords" with the Mafia. It doesn't sound Italian, I immediately think British. (Signore would be a closer fit.) That was my first disconnect. 😵💫 This is a ▪️Mafia lite▪️ world-building. Even though this was a longer story in length, parts of Matteo & Sofia's info seemed missing or rushed or jumped ahead in their timelines without discussion. It is an ägë-gäp (14 years), virgin FMC, eldest daughter sacrificing for her younger sisters & cousins, with bits of violence, major parental indifference on Sofia's side, a little suspense and a lot of ṣëxƴ tïmës (but not really) that involved Matteo *ṣlämmịṅģ ịṅ, ṭḥṛüṣṭïṅģ ịṅ lịƙė a ɓüll...* (...even on Sofia's wedding night)...😑 25% in - is Sofia & Matteo's first kiss & next steps of *ṣlämmịṅģ ịṅ.* 🙄 There is a HEA for them & an Epilogue that is 4 years later.
⚠️ 70% in: Major Cringe-Worthy ⚠️ Matteo has to absolutely have ṣëx with Sofia in the back of their SUV - immediately after rescuing her, right outside the warehouse - his men & the bad guy are still inside - because ▪️he cannot help it.▪️ They are both not quiet, Sofia screams & Matteo bellows - while you guessed it... *ṣlämmịṅģ ịṅ & ṭḥṛüṣṭïṅģ ịṅ lịƙė a ɓüll...* 😑 🙄
I had high hopes for this story, it just didn't work for me. I am still giving it 4 ⭐️, as I like Cassi's stories and hopefully this was a one-off. I hope the next one in this Series is better. 🤞🏿🤞🏾🤞🏽🤞🏼🤞🏻
*Bride for the Mobster* is the first book in the new series *Lords of New York*. Before Matteo can truly take over as the head of his family, he must get married. To fulfill this obligation, he arranges a marriage, and his new bride is Sophia, a college graduate with dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Unlike her parents, who had an arranged marriage, Sophia has always dreamed of marrying for love.
When she learns that her parents have arranged her marriage to the ruthless mobster Matteo, she is far from pleased. However, from the moment Matteo sees Sophia, his possessive and protective instincts kick in, and he resolves to keep her safe. Despite the circumstances, both Matteo and Sophia can't deny the instant connection they feel for each other, and their bond only grows stronger after the wedding.
As Matteo starts to enjoy coming home from work earlier to spend more time with Sophia, he’s also committed to helping her pursue her fashion dreams. When unexpected danger threatens to kidnap Sophia, Matteo is determined to do whatever it takes to bring her back safely.
Matteo and Sophia's love story is short and marked by instant attraction, yet it's exceptionally well written. The world-building is engaging, filled with action, suspense, family drama, and spicy moments, making it easy to read in one sitting. I am definitely looking forward to where this new series will go!

Bride for the Mobster by Cassie Hart is such a strong start to what’s shaping up to be an amazing new series. I love that Cassie is shifting from MC romances into the world of organized crime, and if this book is any indication, I am more than ready for it.
This first installment focuses on the Italian Mafia. Matteo Rossi is set to take over the family business—but first, he has to get married. Enter Sofia Marino. Sofia has grown up watching her parents’ arranged marriage and wants absolutely no part of that kind of future. She’s always hoped for love, not obligation, so being thrown into this situation is the last thing she wants.
And yet… Cassie Hart does what she does best. The insta-love works, the chemistry is instant, and the “touch her and die” vibes are top-tier. Matteo falls first and he falls hard, which is one of my favorite things ever. His protectiveness is fierce, and when Sofia is kidnapped, there’s no question—nothing will stop him from getting her back.
This book has action, romance, and that addictive mobster intensity, all wrapped up in a satisfying story that left me excited for what’s coming next. This is going to be such a good series, and I honestly can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommend if you love fast-falling mobsters, possessive heroes, and organized crime romance done right.

No woman says she is happy to follow her father wishes and enter an arranged marriage, like EVER! And Sofia is no exception. She has studied hard to become a fashion designer, so imagine her horror when her parents inform her that she is to be married to Matteo Rossi, The most feared crime lord in New York who is waiting to take over as Don of his fathers empire, but only if he marries! His father insists he needs a wife and chooses Sofia as the bride....a very reluctant bride! A reasonably fast paced story of Sofia and Matteo learning to live with each other as husband and wife! Matteo finds he quite likes to look of Sofia and realises he will be happy to have the sassy reluctant bride as his! Hot scenes as they consummate their marriage....all through the night...cos like, that is "the tradition" isn't it? Sofia, a virgin bride finds she quite likes her husband being intimate with her....the sexy scenes are off the charts hot.... But when an unknown enemy of Matteo's decides he wants everything that Matteo has, including Sofia, he realises too late that his feelings for her have developed into more, and now she may be lost to him forever.....But nobody takes what is his! Matteo needs to fight to get back what is his....before it is too late..... Enthralling and exciting with a pinch of drama to keep you interested in this Mafia romance....An overall enjoyable read!
Sofia gets the surprise of her life when her parents tell her that she’s not going to get her chosen career as a fashion designer. They’ve basically sold her off to Matteo Rossi, businessman and crime boss. Should she refuse…well, there would likely be dire consequences.
Sofia had hoped to marry for love, instead of being currency. A transaction. When she meets her groom, she finds him very attractive, but that says nothing of his character, until he shoos everyone out of her dressing room and gives her a few good reasons not to be nervous. Ahem.
This is a sexy story, with two main characters who were basically forced into marriage, but found that it wasn’t so bad. Matteo is very passionate, and Sofia delights in his attention, to the point where she’s disappointed that he keeps leaving for work before she wakes up. The two of them work towards a true loving relationship, with a lot of steam on top.
Of course, with Matteo’s line of work, Sofia is a target, a way to exert pressure on Matteo. God help anyone who gets between him and his wife.
I really enjoyed this story, even though I’ve never been much into mafia/mobster romance. But Matteo really sucked me in. I guess I enjoy romantic, sexy, intense mob bosses, but only if they know how to sweet talk.
This is the first of a new series, so get on board now so you’re not behind!
You know how they say less is more? In this case they are wrong. While I understand that the author was going for a short, sweet story, it didn't come out that way. This would have benefited from more - more detail, more rebellion, more falling in love, just more. Sophia wanted her own life, her own job, etc. She was portrayed starting out as someone who would stand up for herself and then quickly turned into a weak-willed youngster who simply allowed her parents then her husband to dictate things. Matteo was trained to be the leader but didn't want a marriage. He claimed he would take care of her and promptly acted as if she didn't exist. Suddenly they were in loved. His brothers showed up when needed and the wedding yet were forgotten otherwise. Sophia and Matteo's little sister were supposedly friends but no idea how they got there. The stepbrother was delusional but again, no idea why he thought that. There needs to be more. Instead, we got a rushed story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book one in the author’s new Lords of New York series and features an arranged marriage between a future mafia Don, in order to officially obtain the title, and the eldest daughter of a power hungry businessman.
The two MCs in this novella were so good together. Matteo expected to remain distant from his new bride—after all, it wasn’t like this was his decision or anything but that was before he saw Sofia, his new bride-to-be. He was the best kind of bad man. feared by everyone who knew him, with reason, but when it came to Sofia, he was a big ol’ teddy bear willing to burn the world down for her. And Sophia, the FMC, was kind, yet independent, with dreams of being more than an accessory for a man known as the devil but, with one look, was just as obsessed.
Sound like something you might be interested in reading? Trust me, it’s a delicious little book and SO worth the time it takes to read it; check it out and see for yourself. 5 stars

This is a steamy contemporary mafia romance that will have you glued to its pages. It all starts as Matteo and Sophia are set on an arranged marriage that will solidify the mafia empire. He is the to be the next Don, and his grandfather thinks he would benefit from having a solid partnership much like most men in their family. Sophia in the other hand had dreams of independence, away from the loveless marriage of her parents, but this arragement changes it all. What surprises them both is how attracted they are to each other as soon as they meet. There is a spark, and sensual tension that is palpable, so after the inevitable wedding, they consume each other.
Suddenly, Matteo starts to see Sophia with different eyes, she becomes his everything. His love is protective, possessive, obssessive, and Sophia is suprised to find love so different from what she expected, her idea of independence has now change to a devotion to her husband. But theirs is a young relationship that will be tested, expect some twits and secrets to help them solidify their love.
A fast paced story with two relatable characters that you will love and cheer for!
Sofia has just finished her Master’s Degree and is planning on moving into the city to pursue a career in fashion. Little does she know that her parents have already arranged for her to marry the ruthless new don Matteo. When Matteo first sees Sofia, he’s instantly taken with her beauty.
I’ve always loved Hart’s books, and because they’re all novellas they’re a great way to break up longer series I might be reading. The start of this new series fell a little flat for me to be honest. I felt like there were scenes and characters completely missing that had me flipping back to try and see if I missed something. Despite those issues, I did enjoy the book and look forward to the next one.
✨No third act breakup ✨HEA ✨Standalone in series ✨No cliffhanger

This book was awesome. I love a good mafia romance and this one was right up my alley. Matteo didn’t want to get married. But it was the only condition his father set in place if he wanted to take over. Sofia didn’t wave a loveless marriage. She wanted to jet off and be a fashion designer. But her father told her she was entering an arranged marriage. And with none other than Matteo. She’d heard things about him and none of them good. But on their wedding day she saw another side to this man. This book was so good. I enjoyed the story between the two. How each wanted something other than marriage, but then found themselves wanting the other after all. I loved how they saw different people in one another. The spice was perfect, not too much. The twists aces turns were great. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
This book will hook you from the start and never lets up the pressure. Both MCs were not thrilled with the idea of an arranged marriage but agreed out of necessity. Sofia is treated as currency, a business asset to be traded by her father for name and influence. Matteo has to marry to become the Don of his family. Sofia is terrified of having a marriage like her parents. Matteo doesn’t want the distraction of a wife. However, one glance and he is enthralled by her beauty and intrigued by her. There’s a tension between Sofia’s desire to remain her own person and Matteo’s need to protect and possess. The couple faces threats and romance, both equally dangerous in their own ways. The chemistry between our MCs is thick and hot. And the ending is absolutely perfection. Wonderful start to the series and I can’t wait to read the rest.
Bride for the Mobster (Lords of New York #1) is a fast, steamy mafia romance. Matteo, a ruthless mob boss, must marry to take full control of his family. He arranges a marriage with Sophia, a college grad dreaming of becoming a fashion designer—who always wanted a love match, not an arranged one. Though Sophia is furious at first, Matteo feels instant possessiveness and protectiveness the moment he sees her. Sparks fly immediately, and their connection deepens after the wedding. Matteo supports her fashion dreams and starts coming home early just to be with her. When danger strikes and Sophia is threatened with kidnapping, he’ll do anything to keep her safe. Short, sexy, with instant attraction, action, suspense, family drama, and spice. Super easy one-sitting read—I’m excited for the rest of the series!.

OMG this was another great story. As soon as I read this story it will have you addicted. And the book cover caught my attention it was eye candy. I was on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't even put it down. The chemistry between them was forbidden and this mafia family was no one to play with and she didn't love him at all, but this was an arranged marriage, but she had to protect her love one life in this moment. Matteo and Sophia physical attraction for one another was intense with strong temptation of hate and love with the desire of passion and emotional drama. I highly recommend this book, and you won't be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. Trina Jones
It's explosive, crude, desperate, dirty, obscene, hungry, possessive and.... beautifully perfect. Which was unexpected as they entered the marriage. I really like both Matteo and Sofia, they marry because it was arranged "for the families", but they have chemistry that sparks, they cannot keep their hands, or mouths, off each other. But they also have an understanding about family obligations and expectations, which allows them to see each other's fears and offer acceptance in a way few others can. It is lovely to see them fall completely in love with each other and thrive. A great read on Kindle Unlimited and a very steamy start to the series.
Per the author: 'Villians of New York is a highly addictive, unputdownable series featuring the Bratva and their unique stories. Each is a standalone, that compliments the other if you choose to read in order. All Guaranteed safe, high heat, morally gray heroes, and their virgin heroines. Enjoy! Cassi'
The characters were very appealing and captivating and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. Look forward to more from this world. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
