Megan Cahill might soon be making the news instead of writing it. Newspaper editor Megan Cahill loves red pens, clean prose, and fast cars. When a friend is murdered, Meg sets a trap to snare the killer. The bait? One steamed editor with a razor-sharp pen. Only one person stands in her way, a stubborn police detective. Death is no stranger to Detective Rod Kelter. Two years ago, death stole his family and the press stole his privacy. To solve a murder, he must join forces with Megan Cahill, but someone wants the smart-mouthed editor dead. Megan and Rod race to unmask a murderer before he writes the final chapter of Meg's life--in blood.
Megan is the feisty, sassy editor of the Gazette. She's not afraid to go after a story and get all the facts that she needs to keep the citizens of Otter Creek informed. When a friend reaches out to her for help and ends up murdered, Meg will do whatever it takes to bring her friend's killer to justice.
Rod is not a fan of the press. They took away his privacy when his wife and daughter died. But that won't stop him from protecting the sassy editor. They may not see eye to eye on how things should be handled, but he admires Meg's spunk and determination.
In order to keep Meg safe, Rod will need to team up with her to find the killer. But the more they discover, the more Meg's life is put in danger. With the two of them growing closer, Rod is determined to not lose Meg like he lost his wife and daughter. He doesn't think his heart could handle it. Will they be able to put all the pieces together and figure out who's behind everything before it's too late?
Written in Blood is my favorite in the series so far. I loved Meg and Rod. They were perfect for each other. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and the banter between them was hilarious. Seeing characters from previous books is also fun. I love the closeness of everyone. They are fiercely loyal and will protect each other no matter the cost.
Ms. Deel has definitely caught my attention. I've enjoyed the books I've read so far. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
As for my casting.. let's take a minute to admire these two... *dreamy sigh*
Content: Mild violence. Talk of rape with no details. No language. Clean romance.. just kisses.
I liked this one, I've liked Rod as a supporting character from the prior two books. For the most part I liked Meg, but she did have a couple of moments of being too stubborn and a really bad TSTL moment. The plot had elements that were a little hard to buy into. May have just been me.
I loved this book! After reading the first two books in this series I have been dying to read Megan's story. She is one of the Cahill triplets, and as each of her sister's had their stories told in the first two books, I was excited for Meg's.
Megan is unique from her sisters as she is a spitfire journalist who takes charge and hides any weaknesses. From the very first page the suspense begins and I enjoyed seeing how Megan dealt with the dangerous situations that came her way.
I loved hearing Rod's story! He is a tough and very thorough detective, and seeing how he handled Megan was awesome. Their banter and the way they referred to each other was endearing, and the romance was toe-curling.
Another fantastic romantic suspense! Can't wait to read more!
3.5 stars, rounding up. I liked this light suspense/mystery story. The characters grew on me as the story progressed. I enjoyed it enough that I'll be picking up the next book in the series. I hear they get better as they go. I especially appreciated that this book contained no swearing or sexual content.
( Format : Audiobook ) "Everybody is weak at some time ...even you. " Another murder in not-so-sleepy Otter Creek, this time involving another of the triplets, Megan. She is the writer- reporter sister and was assaulted, though not seriously hurt, whilst meeting her close friend and daughter in law to Senator Drake, late at night in the woods. Sherry, her friend, was not so lucky. She was shot dead before being able to tell Megan why she had wanted the meeting. With fears for her safety, and aware of her sometimes aggressive reporting techniques, long time resident and officer in charge of the investigation, Rod, forbids her to do her own snooping this time. Does she take this to heart? Well, not really. And as his concern, and irritation, for her grows, so does his feeling of love.
An enjoyable, gentle romance entwining the unexpected and apparently pointless murder mystery, made more difficult in a small town where most people know each other, and again nicely narrated by Christina Fuller Yeun. Having previously read, and enjoyed, the first book in the series, I requested a copy of Written in Blood from the rights holder, via Audiobook Boom, and was very fortunate in being freely gifted a complimentary copy. Thank you. These books are completely stand alone although the pleasure of revisiting characters met in earlier books is a bonus. They are suitable for anyone to read, without overt sex or graphic violence.
When Megan Cahill's friend Sherri Drake is murdered and she is assaulted after a clandestine meeting Detective Rod Kelter is on the case and she finds herself making the news instead of writing it. Rod never thought that he would feel again after the death of his wife and daughter but thats before he crosses swords with the spunky news editor. Whether it is annoyance over the way she puts herself in harms way or how good she feels in his arms the one thing he can say about her is that she makes him want to live and maybe even love again. As Meg becomes the primary target of the killer Rod soon realises that there is nothing he won't sacrifice for this woman even his life. Another great book featuring the last unmarried Cahill triplet and the loved ones who would die for her.
I had requested and received audiobook version of this book for free from the narrator, in exchange for an unbiased review.
I had listened to this book right after finishing the previous book in this series, which was an out-n-out entertainer. This third book lives up to the expectation and continues to be equally entertaining. The characters are written a tad bit more maturely in this book, compared to the last one. I like that they don't act like single-minded caricatures and have layers to them. The new story is equally intriguing as the last one. I wanted to finish this one in a single sitting, but had to listen it over a couple of days.
The narration by Kristina Fuller Yuen was again excellent. She has her way of breathing life into these stories.
Triple trouble is what you expect and get from triplets. Chaos and suspense and unravel the mystery all take place in this story!
Detective Rod has survived a horrific tragedy and being Ethan, police chiefs partner he is given a case to investigate a murder and protect the eye witness Ethan's sister in-law. This is a intricate web to untangle. Case has so many twist and turns it will be tricky to figure it out until the end. Violance2, Sex1 clean romance kissing only. The character s are well written and woven into each book, done well!

Meg Cahill, the headstrong, no-nonsense one of the triplets, finds herself the eyewitness to her bff murder...sort of. Rod Kelter, the broken police detective, is working on the case. When Meg’s life is threatened, Rod is her self-appointed protector. Will Rod be able to keep Meg safe while solving the case? Or will Meg’s journalistic side make her more of a target. This book is my favorite in the series, by far. The chemistry between Rod & Meg was palpable and, at times, hilarious. They made a great team & great story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Small town journalist agreed to meet with friend/source in the middle of the night in the woods. The journalist gets tased, abraded, and concussed, but the other woman is murdered. Local detective takes it all personally, as does the journalist, and the killer stalks the one that got away. Lots of twists and red herrings, fraught romance, and suspense to keep the reader up late reading! Kristina Fuller Yuen is excellent as narrator and really knows how to make the characters even more real! I requested and received a free audio copy courtesy of FAFY.
I have really enjoyed the Otter Creek series. This is the third one and I enjoyed it just as much as the first two books if not a little more then them. The author does a great job keeping the mystery going and throws in a clean romance. This was a story I had a hard time putting down and the narrator did a fantastic job to which only made it more fun to listen.

Meg is the nosy triplet and editor of the town paper. Rod is a hard working detective. When Meg runs full steam ahead into murder and is determined to solve the resulting mystery. Rod doggedly pursues the case while trying to keep Meg safe and manage his growing feelings for her. Will they find the murder before their chance at happiness is stuffed out for good? Good series I hope Josh's story is next.
It’s Meg turn for love. Meg is one strong, independent woman that works hard and drives fast. Rod never expected to love again, but somehow Meg broke down the walls protecting his heart. I wasn’t surprised when the villain was revealed, but the motive was one I didn’t see coming. The book was a little too long and dragged in spots. I also was confused on the timeline. I like PG-13 romance stories, and this book is G rating.
Always a great story that keeps you interested. When I put it down I am thinking of all the possibilities with the next part, and can't wait to get back to it. I love the characters and wish they were real and were my friends. Never a dull moment with the Cahill family, for sure!
Outstanding series of stories. The author may be my favorite one. The romances are tender and exciting. The plots hold together. Ms. Deel, the author does an excellent job crafting her stories.
A fabulous 3rd installment! Megan is the 3rd Cahill triplet and editor of the Otter Creek newspaper. Her friend is murdered, and Meg is the only witness. Police detective Rod Kelter is investigating the case, while Meg is investigating for her story. When Meg's life is threatened further, Meg and Rod team up to find the killer and bring justice for her friend. Sparks fly between the two, but can Meg and Rod put the baggage of their respective pasts aside and focus on a future together?
I am SO glad that Rod and Meg got a happily ever after! As we learned in previous books, Rod lost his wife and daughter and then struggled with alcohol to help numb the pain. It was so nice to see him overcome his past and find happiness. Meg and Rod bring out the best in each other, and it was so nice to catch up with Ethan and Serena as well as Nick and Madison. I can't wait to read the 4th installment!
Another well written book concentrating on the 3rd triplet Megan. I know books are a way to escape reality, but every single triplet has manage to fall in love within seconds-it appears- of meeting their sidekick and marry moments later, with nothing more than a Kiss on the cheek. If u can overlook that and enjoy a well paced book this is for u. If u r looking to read a book which pushes over a PG rating or hold some dark sinister secrets then u won't get it with any of the first three otter creek books I've read to date. Just pleasant country cop reading.
This book has wonderful characters and good suspense along with a great story. I really enjoy "the Cahill gang" and all of the characters. There is fun and delight sprinkled in as well and the romance is clean which I enjoy. And I love that spunky Megan finally met her match in Rod Kelter.
Feisty woman is Meg Cahill. Definitely a great book with lots of snark, emotion, humor (gotta love those speeding tickets) and action. A perfect ending to the triplets' stories. Can't wait to see what comes next.
When you find a well written series with fascinating characters you just can't leave them! I know I will enjoy each book to the very last one -- and still want more! This one is definitely that type of series.
This was a good story with many twists and turns. The characters were easy to get to know. I am still not sure why Ty was unfaithful throughout his marriage. I would recommend this book.
This is one fantastic series. I can't wait to read the next book in the series . As soon as I finish one book I start reading the next one . A five star series
