Alphas don’t submit. They can’t. It’s a fundamental fact of life.

But when Anthony Blake’s rut turns deadly, Michael Terlaine has an impossible choice: Do the unthinkable and submit, or watch his best friend die.

The act should have been degrading. Instead, it awakens a part of Michael that shouldn’t exist. Desire. Craving. Obsession.

Anthony remembers nothing, but he knows Michael is different—a bewildering, intoxicating mix of subservience and aggression. One touch could ignite a fire they can’t control… and reveal the secret that would ruin them both.

why call it alpha x alpha if you're changing the sex of one of them and making them more comfortable with it since it's more "fitting and natural" for their relationship?

Amazing, I need another ten millions of these.
Oh how lovely that I've finally gotten a five star read. A Christmas miracle. I KNEW Alessandra Hazard was the one that would do it for me.

I LOOOOOOOOOVED this instalment so much. I'd never read anything with bitching before but damn, I need more of it now. I adored the protagonists, I ADORED the romance, and the steam and alpha/alpha dynamic were beyoooooooooond hot. Scorching. I was obsessed; couldn't put the book down for the life of me.

Maybe I need to re-read this series from the start now.

His ass or his friend’s life. — A.H, continuing the tradition of putting MCs in wildly implausible scenarios just to get them to fuck.

'His large body started twitching uncontrollably. There was no time to waste.'

😂😂😂😂😂Love the way it's always extremely urgent. Imperative, really, that one MC impale themselves on the other's dick.

Matter of life and death. No choice, really.

About chapter one- this book poses the question....is it okay to fuck your unconscious friend to quite literally save their life?

Actually, no. This book says fuck that man and save his life, figure it out after.

If that's going to be a problem then give this one a skip.

If, like me, you're too far gone with the AH addiction to ponder moral matters, you're probably going to have a blast.

'Michael was his. His friend.' Nice Freudian slip there, Anthony.

This book takes 'changing for your partner' very literally.

My favorite part was the general unseriousness of these two.

..... They could start staying away from each other tomorrow.

Three weeks later...
“No, don’t pull out yet.”

💀Nothing like a grave medical reason NOT to fuck and the MCs fucking each other to death routinely, regardless.

I love Anthony for the mere fact that he's not coy about asking for what he wants Michael to do for him. It's unreasonable, unfair, a lot self - serving, but he's not pretending he doesn't want it.

He's just an alpha, standing in front of another alpha, asking him to make the ultimate sacrifice for him.

Unhinged. 10/10 behavior. No notes.

Okay, to be fair, he doesn't ASK, just keeps saying, “Would it be a bad thing?”

Still. That's basically him saying - I'm down if you're down.

Which, beyond applying pressure for a decision that's best left up to Micheal, is pretty much asking, straight up.

“You will marry me in two weeks,” Anthony said tightly. “Or I’ll knot you in front of your new fans. One way or another, they’ll know you’re mine.”

Oh.

Okay.

Minus a star for two things.

1. I'm a bit disappointed about where the story ended up going. Maybe I would have preferred to watch them drive each other mad with warring alpha pheromones.

2. The love declarations fell flat for me. Especially for two MCs who are very passionate about each other.

It's surprising to me how with every AH MC pairing, I think....there's no way any future MCs can be hornier than these two and then, EVERY FUCKING TIME, I'm wrong.

"if this was a cage, he never wanted to be free." 😭

easily giving this 5 stars bc of how invested i was with Michael and Anthony's romance and obsession towards each other. AH's recent releases haven't been for me tbh but this one felt like her older works i had loved!! 😭😭

This is to echo all the 1 star reviews: basically falsely promoting this as alpha/alpha MM book when the author cowardly turns one alpha to omega! What’s the point of writing a unique story and then trash it back to the original concept?!

And the whole transformation process was just vile, it felt like ongoing rape (MC was under special health condition so I strongly feel he couldn’t give full consent!), the alpha has zero conscience for the other, he just kept fucking him for his own fucking pleasure and knowing well the other couldn’t refuse (let’s be honest here, deep down he was THRILLED and WANTED the other guy to turn into omega, it made everything easier for the bastard alpha aka less need for prep, more socially acceptable and he got breeding bitch, he is a massive hypocrite). No, I don’t care for his pathetic apology after it was too late.

There is also such disappointing and disgusting behaviour of slut-shaming MC for taking on a bottom role during sex, this just reeks of patriarchy and misogyny. As if taking a cock is emasculating and degrading for a guy and hence wrong (this is promoting such toxic masculinity bs), seriously I find this offensive on so many levels.

For anyone still willing to read this, there is lots of humiliation kink going on (poised as so called dirty talk but don’t be fooled), one MC is constantly and unfairly turned into a submissive and powerless entity, stripped of title and any semblance of dignity and respect. In fact he is made to be even worse than omega (but we readers are repeatedly told this is how it SHOULD be, that this is RIGHT, barf!), it’s awful really, the power imbalance is staggering and shocking, that’s not hot at all. The ONLY saving grace was MC’s mother who insisted on longer engagement to preserve his honour a bit and that was still low bar, the alpha was a toxic selfish jerk, don’t try to gaslight me that it was all part of the fierce possessive love shit.

Also any book of her reads as if M/F, one MC is always forced to act like a doormat damsel in distress slutty girl in some way as if it’s unnatural for gay guys to still be manly while enjoying a cock in the ass, kind of homophobic don’t you think, and ironic given this is supposed to be M/M “romance” book…

This book was junk food, and quite addictive. Two alphas. A rut that turns deadly. A split-second decision that changed the dynamic between best friends forever. The setup was so promising intensity, angst, power struggles, and a true alpha/alpha clash, but execution was mediocre.

One man essentially has to reshape his entire personality to make the relationship work. That shift blurred what made their dynamic interesting in the first place.

*The continued sleeping with other people gave me the ick.

This isn’t just the best MM book I’ve read this year. It’s also the hottest.

The book does an excellent job establishing the depth of their bond early on, so the shift into something intimate and hungry doesn’t feel sudden. It feels inevitable.
The pacing is beautiful. Just when you think the tension has peaked, it rises again. Alessandra is unmatched when it comes to desire and longing. The way she writes want is almost physical. You feel it under your skin.

Most of the story is told through Michael’s POV, and it fits perfectly. His emotional arc is vulnerable and human. He struggles, questions himself, wants more than he thinks he’s allowed to want, and through it all he never loses the warmth and softness that make him so easy to love. What I appreciated most about Anthony is how willing he is to face hard truths. He doesn’t run from uncomfortable conversations. He wants to understand, to communicate, to really see Michael and be seen in return.

For me, this is easily top three in The Wrong Alpha series. Intense, tender, and scorching.
I’m still thinking about them.

*I have received an ARC from the author and will leave an honest and unbiased review.*

Nobody does campy quite like Alessandra Hazard (my modest opinion and all that, and I am perfectly willing to try even campier). And nononon-we-can't-but-we-cant-help-ourselves biological imperative and all that. But her past books of this series have been definitely odd, and kind of short and in my (modest) opinion a bit worse, less plot and less emotions, than her older books.

And look, if the all book is precisely "we really should not be having sex, but we can't help ourselves and are going to have it anyway, any place, any risk" it all ends up being quite boring. And a bit sad particularly when there seems to be so much shame for one of the characters.

Just a tip, the dynamics here reminded me a bit of Just a Bit Gay which was a lot of fun and Alessandra Hazard at her campy-est ever (probably...). That was not a perfect book, but it was IMO a lot more fun and healthier than this one and I recommend it to fans of this one.

Undone is supposedly a alpha-alpha book, and part of the Wrong Alpgha uni verse. The first book in this series Unnatural was also (supposedly) an alpha-alpha book and I loved it as a supreme campy stuff - but it had a lot more plot and a lot more slow burn. This book turns out to be something a bit different, and it's hard to talk sensitively of the plot and world setup particularly without spoilers, but it bugged me a lot.

The biological imperative in this universe turns out to be, by authorial imposition, a really hard limit and alpha-alpha relationships really taboo (but surely the relationship in Unnatural is known and would have broken barriers?) and the author goes with reinforcing that the limit is true and real to the point that . And that was a bit sad when comparing to real life perspectives and all. Also one of the MCs has to do all the changing and dealswith all the consequences (losing his title! curiosity, and shame...), while the other has to do nothing and the HEA is all handed to him because he is the real alpha and the other has to accept the submissive role and it is all shameful somehow..It just felt sad at least for me, not romantic and I am trying hard to not even think much of real life.

There was some backtracking on the epilogue, so we can think that maybe alpha-alpha will not be so incompatible (but seriously for all they know the couple in Unnatural is alpha alpha and stable! ) for their kids. But if if they can make that effort for the kids, was it really unthinkable for them to be together without the plot event as they were, to try to be together as equals alpha alpha? Not really a ground breaking love story and weirdly conservative. It felt sad to me, that the worldbuilding led to this and not to a freer fuck against-nature ending, but mileage varies..

The longer I sit with this book, the less I like it.

Right after the last page I thought, “Okay, that was fun,” but fun was all it was, nothing blew my mind.

Sure, the style is plain and some lines repeat, yet the story hits the senses: skin, smell, sweat, heat, pressure. Desire is measured in heat and plain, hard sex; everything lands in the body.

The pace is quick and puposeful: every scene pushes the relationship or the tension forward, so there’s no filler yay! I could have done with fewer loops of “alpha cock / knot / hole / quintessential alpha,” though.

World-building? Hmm. I’d complain more, but the book never pretends to be what it isn’t (cough Calluvia cough). The setting is only wallpaper, yet Alessandra at least avoids the usual omegaverse trick: “fated mates + instalove = job done.” Still, the world itself feels wasted.

My biggest problem: it’s a rerun. These guys are copy-pastes of older couples: same fights, same jokes, same sex scenes (I see you, Raffaele… or Nate? Jules?). Whole phrases, even sentences come straight from her past books. I just... I want fresh people in a fresh world, not fanfiction of the author’s own stuff. Once you spot the pattern, déjàvu kicks in and ruins the ride.

After the epilogue sank in, I saw the bond lives almost through physical intensity. Deep talks barely show up. The “what does this mean for us?” moments last two lines, then it’s back to sex. Anthony never really opens up; Michael does, but only in his head.

Because of all this, I can’t rate the book higher. It isn’t terrible, but in weeks I’ll probably mix the guys up with every other couple she’s written.

His ass or his friend’s life. Michael had never thought he’d ever be forced to make a choice like that.

YES! Absolutely amazing trash once again from Alessandra Hazard. I gobbled it up and I loved it. Even if the convenient thing with the alien toxin felt a bit recycled from Dearly Despised to bring these two “together”. *lol

As always, intense on the feels, fast paced, full of longing and gloriously smutty.

And also:

“What’s with the long face, brother mine?” Jules said, […]
“It’s my resting face,” Anthony said. “Not all of us can be sunshines for no reason.”

Same, buddy. Same!

how to get a slut (me) like have you ever heard of a more beautiful premise (no one has)

if only it had stayed that way because why did this feel homophobic… i always leave my brain behind when going into AH but i fear i could not this time. michael’s situation, the way it was handled, the slut shaming. yeah no. back to alessandra’s contemporaries i go.

I was so excited for this book. I was so excited for an actual alpha x alpha romance between Anthony and Michael. Especially as two characters we didn’t know much about but I was so intrigued and excited about Anthony finally getting a book. Instead what we got was a similar plot to the first book. Ending with an alpha x omega romance. And I finished this book almost hating Anthony’s character and still actually not knowing much about him as a person. Just that he’s pushy and horny.

I wanted an actual alpha x alpha, not another omega book and this was worse because while reading this I was just super uncomfortable. It felt more like a sad story about someone being forced to deal with unwanted changes to their body and having to make do with what they were stuck with. But Michael never liked his title/status as Earl of Terlaine so I guess that means he actually wanted to be an omega right 😐 this book felt so degrading, in a bad way. I don’t like how Anthony treated Michael. They didnt feel like friends or that they even liked each other for most of the book. I stopped feeling their connection essentially when they got back from the alien planet. There were moments where I kind of liked Anthony and Michael together, hints of vulnerability from Anthony, but that doesn’t change the fact that the entire plot of this book was misleading and again I got nothing from Anthony as a character.

I know others liked this book and I genuinely wished I did too because I was so excited for this romance 😕

Another amazing book by Alessandra!!

I’m in love with Anthony and Michael! it’s rare now when I genuinely like both main characters I usually tend to like one more than the other but in this book I love both. Their friendship is beautiful!! one of my favorite friendships in Alessandra’s books.
It was interesting to see how Anthony and Michael friendship developed and grew over the years to the point where they’ll do anything for each ANYTHING! I believe their friendship helped to understand how two alphas can form a bond and actually make it work!
I like the steamy parts too! You can see the connection Michael and Anthony had during the sex scenes! It wasn’t just desire and hormones. It was kind of funny to read how they’ll try to stay away from each but the next day they were already in each other beds hehe it was just the sex part they wanted each other company too.
The crush Anthony had since they were teenagers was way too adorable he always admired and wanted to be close to Michael so I think it was destiny they ended up together considering both of them are alphas!
In conclusion, I loved the book soo much! I loved how romantic it was and very low on angst! There were so many parts where you can see how much they care about each other. I loved reading about the other characters and I loved the epilogue! I love when Alessandra shows how life is going on after some time that’s my favorite kind of happy ending!

Thank you for another wonderful book Alessandra!

This one squicked me...

Forced 'feminization' is just not my thing, particularly when it actually, literally changes the gender of the person against their will. The alpha/alpha of it all started out hot, and I wish it had stayed in that realm instead of leaning into the world building of "it's impossible for any alpha/alpha relationship to not be toxic". Left me feeling very unsettled and with a bad taste in my mouth. I know this author writes toxic fucked-up relationships, but I didn't like the direction of this one.

This book here is going to be one of my favorite books of all time!! So I’ll be the first one to give it a 5 star ⭐️

ARC Review

This was so sweet and endearing! For me, even though this might be one of Mrs. Hazard’s spiciest books, it’s also the one where the protagonists have the strongest soulmate energy.
Michael and Anthony are soulmates as far as I’m concerned—you can see it throughout the book in the way they move around each other, how instinctively they understand what the other is feeling or thinking. Their bond is genuinely something special. 🤧

It was adorable seeing Ant’s little brothers, and watching how much the entire family have improved their bond, it was heartwarming. And Michael’s mother? An absolute angel. Someone please hug Amanda Terlaine!

Michael, my sweet baby, is a must-protect. He was funny, kind, and vey mature considering everything he was going through.
Anthony was even more of a green flag than I expected. I already assumed he would be one, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much of a green flag he turned out to be. Though I’m sure some people will disagree with me, I stand by it—he absolutely behaved like one.

All in all, this is now one of my favorite Alessandra Hazard books—exactly as I knew it would be. I hope everyone else enjoys it just as much!

4.5 - I ate this up, but I agree with everyone’s critiques about the ending. It felt like a copy and pasted version of the other books in this series’ endings which felt weird since this couple is supposed to be so different in their world. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and loved the tension between the two alphas.

Just tremendous, I have chills from how much I enjoyed reading Undone. Such a good read, covering two out of my three top genres: sci fi, romance and horror.
Then there's Alpha males, MM, proximity, friends to lovers, romance, omegaverse, knotting, HEA, all wrapped up in an alien world. Chef's kiss.

The relationship between Michael and Anthony is beautiful. The friendship, want, angst, yearning and submitting to their desires. So good. Ant recognising his feelings, really feeling. Michael tussling with the change in his designation. It's too beautiful.

I am buzzed. What a pick me up to start the day.

Edited to add that Undone is book 6 in the series and I was eager to read earlier books and find out how the relationships had developed for side characters in Undone. I have a bad habit of starting series in my order of choice (based on a synopsis skim of all the published books) and not necessarily book one. A few days ago I read book 4 Expert and it really deflated my enthusiasm for this world. Hugh (alpha) and Eric's (omega) relationship just didn't do it for me. Not sure if pompous Hugh was the main issue or contrary Eric. Or the stupid ramifications of one explicit photo sent on social media dooming Eric to a lifetime of slights, gossip and a marriage of convenience. Yes they desired each other but it appeared that they couldn't be together until all the ducks were in a row and that was particularly annoying to have years apart due to scientific advance and omega biology. With no corresponding growth of each of the main characters. The restroom scene was excruciating, similarly Hugh's nickname for Eric, which I have managed through strong mental effort to have excised from my mind. All in all, there's no longer any incentive to read the rest of the series in a hurry, if at all.

2026 ReReads

10 Feb Was in the car listening to Us by She Wants Revenge and immediate Undone came to mind. Obviously had to read it that day. On this read it was really clear why I love it so much. It reminded me of Just a Bit Bossy which I adore. The push and pull of the relationship

12 Feb Yes I had only read Undone 2 days ago but it was still on my home screen and therefore a reread had to be done. Ant's desire for Michael was my focus this time.

b>9 June
I definitely read this in May but didn't record the date. Why do I keep coming back to this? It is a lovely love story. Two guys who are good friends, in a society where that's unusual, spend practically every day together. This much time together without Alpha posturing and territorial dominance behaviour is unusual. They just call it friendship because there's no hope for Alpha and Alpha relationships. The fact that Michael did not not waver when it came to deciding between Ant's death and an unnatural choice shows the depth and breadth of their relationship. It is a wonderful pick me up.

As an aside I also picked up Forbidden on 12 Feb and devoured it. An alpha who physically changes and is head over heels for his stepfather is something that I didn't think would be a four star read but again like Raffaele, Ant and now Aksel, this alpha was irresistible. Really Aksel is the sweetest of them all. Lucien the omega is long suffering but really he's had a shit life, thus understandable. Their society is gossipy, judgemental and mean spirited. And if you make one mistake your life is altered irrevocably.
Do read the trigger warnings because... it's a lot.

Hmmm on the fence about this one. This definitely delivered the delicious tension, obsession, and possessiveness that we all know and love, but I feel like I didn't really feel the FRIENDSHIP between Michael and Anthony? We are sort of told rather than shown they are friends, and since we didn't really see them interact in previous books given the time skip, it felt a bit surprisng to me, and a taaad forced?

I really enjoyed the "true" alpha/alpha dynamic ESPECIALLY the fight scene, the tension was so intense. But both Ant and Mike as individuals seemed to blend into the background of the tropes... getting a similar feeling from all AH's recent releases, sadly.

Anyway, I will still be tuning into the next books but I hope the new series AH is teasing is the way forward!

Spoilers:

Listen, while this book wasn't terrible I can also say it wasn't good? The characters felt a little superficial and I was excited for this book, I really thought it would be alpha x alpha and it wasn't, would be nice if this book played with primal play like they fighting until one came out on top and they switching who the top was based on that, they could be alpha all the same, Alessandra could say that the toxins from that planet simply made it possible for them to be attracted to each other without transforming one in a omega again...

But yes, she did transform another alpha in omega... Again...

Read in another great buddy read with the always lovely Lilly ❤️

Anthony, (the real Anthony) finally gets his love story, and it's with Michael, another Alpha who was courting Liam once upon a time.

Five years after the events of the third book, and now Anthony and Michael are best friends, despite alphas rarely ever being friends. They especially are never more with each other.

But Anthony, always a bit restless since coming back from war, and perhaps a bit of an adrenaline junkie, goes on a mission to another planet, and Michael goes with him - except an alien animal injects Anthony with some venom that triggers an unusual rut, and soon enough his bodies reaction to not going through with the rut - i.e. fucking someone - is going to kill him, so Michael does what he has to, even if it goes against every instinct he has an alpha to not submit.

But it saves Anthony's life, so he does it (and of course likes it somewhat even as his mind rebels over liking it at the same time.)

Also, I don't consider it to be rape, more a "fuck or die" situation where they both didn't exactly have a choice, and did to to save Anthony's life.

Of course, eventually they can get off the planet and go home, and while Anthony doesn't remember it, Michael 100% does and he can't get it out of his mind, and also the need to have something inside him practically all the time.

It goes against everything an Alpha is, but Michael can't help it. And when Anthony becomes aware of it, and of what happened once he gets it out of Michael, he can't stop thinking about Michael either.

This was, overall, wonderful and I loved these two and their chemistry. I was sooo digging the forbidden vibes of their relationship, of two alphas falling in love with each other.

Buttt my only reason for a star off is something this lovely author has started to do more and more - her ending was rushed, it wasn't as fleshed out as it could have been, and I really wanted more of a reaction and more drama from .

Michael gave a slightly skewed versions of events on the planet to the public and they all took it pretty easily. There was no pushback, no and such. It all felt too easy, imo, and I think this could have done with 50 or so more pages to watch some drama unfold and getting a less rushed, more proper ending.

Don't get me wrong, I loved these two and their HEA, but still it was rushed and too easy.

While I understand that ultimately their relationship wouldn't have worked if

Still, it would have been interesting to see how that would play out, even if I ultimately do understand the direction this went.

It was also an interesting metaphor/parallel to trans people as well as LGBT+, such as Michael having to .

So, overall, I did love and enjoy this and the chemistry was so good, it just needed a stronger, less rushed ending, is all.

Still can't wait for future works from this author, and I think the next Alpha book in this series might be about Michael's cousin. If so, I can't wait for it.

Until then! 😘
