Since visiting Yellowstone, I'm on a quest to learn as much as possible about the region. This latest book, published as a National Geographic Society Special publication, is stunningly beautiful. The writing is as crisp as the winter nights described. The photos that accompany the text are breathtakingly beautiful.

I highly recommend this to anyone who will be traveling to Yellowstone.

This is a National Geographic Society Publication, so the reader knows that it’s going to be a visual and sensual treat. This contains stunning photos of the wonders of the West along with amazing, informative, and very well-written text. My rating: 7/10, finished 2004.

Going to Yellowstone this summer and doing research now. This National Geographic publication has gorgeous photos. A must read if you want to truly appreciate this wondrous place.

A narrative view of some of the better known wonders of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Some of the information is dated, for example at the time the book was written the wolf had not been reintroduced to Yellowstone, however the author's affection and respect for the parks along with the timeless images captured by the photographer make this a worthwhile read.
