Things are never as clear cut as they seem. One minute, I’m a struggling single mother being fired from my job of three years. The next, I’m wearing a diamond that cost more than my salary and having my back blown out on a private jet as the fiancée of my billionaire boss. At least that’s what everyone thinks. Only he and I know the truth. It’s all a ruse. Required to marry in order to seal a fifty million dollar deal for his company, billionaire bachelor Adonis Holland offered me fifty thousand dollars to be his fake fiancée for one week. I should’ve said no. I should’ve walked away. Instead, I signed my name on the dotted line. Why? Because no one says no to Adonis Holland. Although we’re playing house under the same roof, I’m determined to keep things professional. But as the week stretches on, his lingering touches and charming aura start to make me question everything about the contract I autographed. I know I’d be foolish to trust him with my heart, but by the time we make it to the end of our arrangement, it may already be too late. But everything comes with an expiration date . . . even love. Right?
This was such a cute story!!! I love a good fake dating situation! Simora was a single mother, trying to provide for her son, Mason, when she was let go from her job. Adonis, the billionaire CEO of the company that led Simora go, offered a deal to change her life - 7 days as his fake fiancee while he aimed to secure a big contract and get $50K - Small thing to a giant, but it wouldn’t be KL if there wasn’t drama.. 🎭 😂I loved the plot twist. But baby, Adonis was on a mission to right his wrongs and I can’t fault him. I loved this book!!❤️🥹I love kids in books, and Mason stole my heart!💜
I wanted to like this because I’m a sucker for a fake dating/engagement or marriage of convenience story. Plus a single mom/step daddy trope, I’m all over it! But this unfortunately didn’t do it for me. The MCs were actually a bit flat and boring to me, and I didn’t feel any chemistry or romance between them. Nothing in their relationship said that “we fell in love for real after a week and I can’t live without you”. The material was here because there were some interesting plot points but the execution (to me) just wasn’t there.
This book just didn't hit the mark for me. Compared to others I've read, it lacked depth and excitement. The details felt thin, and there wasn't enough relationship development to make me feel connected to the story. Even the inclusion of a child—a detail that usually adds heart for me-couldn't save it. Overall, the story felt flat and uninspired. It just didn't land for me in any context.
I have stumbled on a new book trope and I love it here! Although highly unlikely in the real world, this book gave enough realism that I was in here smiling way too big for Sim and Adonis for most of the story like they were real people who deserved it all. Although seemingly calm cool and collected, I knew my girl Sim had Adonis the minute he beat the elevator downstairs. A powerful man in so many regards, yet powerless to that panther (hahaha) and her love. The six degrees of separation secrect almost had them both missing out on a beautiful forever, but I am glad the author took us through their test for a beautiful testimony. Sim got a double blessing and I loved every bit of it for her and Mason. This book, despite a bit of drama was like a modern day Pretty Woman and I really enjoyed it from start to finish. I honestly didn't want it to end.
Adonis and Simora's story is a heartwarming tale of two individuals finding solace and love in unexpected circumstances. 💕 As a struggling single mother who recently lost her job, Simora's path unexpectedly intersects with Adonis, 💼 who seeks a fake fiancée for his own reasons. 🤝 Their initial arrangement gradually transforms into a genuine connection, revealing a deeper emotional bond. 💞 The narrative unfolds with subtle dramatic elements that add complexity to their relationship. 🌪️ As they navigate their challenges, their authentic feelings emerge, creating an unbreakable connection that transcends their original convenient agreement. 💖 Their journey demonstrates how genuine love can bloom from the most unlikely beginnings, proving that sometimes, life's unexpected twists lead to the most profound relationships.
On the day that she was fired from Adonis' company, Simora met him on the elevator on her way out, and he put forth a proposition to her. In order to help take care of her son, Mason, she decides to take him up on his offer. At first it was all business between Adonis and Simora, but in the end, their chemistry caused them to cross the line to more. I really enjoyed the family that they formed together, especially between Mason and Mr. H. Mason was such a cutie-pie you couldn't help falling for him. I didn't expect the twist that came up, but it added to my overall enjoyment of the book. I couldn't stand Simora's baby daddy. He was foul as they came, and I didn't feel sorry for him at all. This fake engagement book held my attention from the very first page. Very enjoyable book!!
I gave this 4 stars for a few reasons. Aside from the obvious being that I liked the story, I also liked how the story was simple. No over the top drama and theatrics. I also liked how the author switched it up and let the FMC take the first step towards breaking the ice on their arrangement.
One thing I love is a man who knows how to beg and Adonis begged his way right into my heart. I liked Sim and Mason. Their mother-son bond was so wholesome.
I took away a star for two reasons. 1)I hated the whole "I'm in love with you" speech after only knowing each other for a week. 2) Some of the writing was a little cringe. Not too bad, but bad enough that it stuck with me.
All in all, I would read more from this author if the consistency is there.
Simora was just a single mother trying to care for her young son Mason but it seemed like she was always thrown complications. Adonis came into her life probably at the right time. While he seemed short with Simora, he loved making sure Mason had everything his young kid could want or get. Simora definitely played the part being on Adonis arm and knew how “fake it until you made it” when it came to being in public and especially around Mr. Garrick. NOW Simora bd (Mason’s “father”) should have stayed quiet BUT Adonis once again stepped in and resolved that issue. Book was great!
Adonis was cold but for good reason. Betrayed by a childhood friend and hardened by the loss of both of his parents, he was all about business and the bottom line. Simora is a single mom doing her best just to keep her kid healthy and happy - that’s it. When a chance encounter between these two leads to a pretend engagement, it’s less than smooth days ahead. The story was good, engaging, and steamy! Out of millions of people, not sure how Simora would be the one women Adonis would meet and fall for, but oh well. Very good ready, I highly recommend.
If instalove is not your thing, this one is probably not for you. The entire story, epilogue included, takes place in less than a year, so the timeline to love moves fast. Like… real fast.
Now me? I had a good time. I love a fake fiancée trope and Adonis Holland and Simora Campbell worked for me. I rolled with the quick jump to feelings and didn’t mind it too much.
What did take me out a bit was the decision to also make Adonis a kingpin. Why couldn’t this man just be a legitimate billionaire living his rich, stress-free life? That extra layer felt unnecessary.
Overall, it was entertaining and enjoyable, just a few choices that had me side-eyeing.
I love a beautiful love story with twists! Adonis and Simora chance meeting wasn't conventional, but it worked for them! Both had shut down their ability to love again or show love, but feelings arise in ways they didn't know possible! Simora was a strong single mother who understood her son was her main priority and she would protect him at all cost, Adonis admired her strength and dedication to her son! Simora was able bring out Adonis vulnerability! I loved the ending as well!
What can I say about this book?!?! I absolutely loved this book, K. L. Hall did an outstanding job telling Adonis and Sonora’s story!
This fake engagement urban romance is everything and so much more. I knew when she saw him for the first time and said how he looked at her that he felt more than he was willing to admit.
But the drama around their relationship was just wow!! If you love a good fake engagement urban romance you are going to love this book!! So add it to your tbr!!
Adonis was that guy. Rich, handsome, powerful. He commanded any room he graced. Locking eyes with Simora as she was being fired changed everything for him. He had to get to know her. Convincing her to be his fake fiancee worked out better than he planned.
They both made some mistakes and missteps along the way, but love always wins.
A very interesting story about an unusual proposition made to Simon who lost her job and has a brilliant four year old son Mason She agrees and this starts her journey into a world she was never apart of but brings her into a love she never expected Adonis was never looking for love or a family but at the end of their journey found out he couldn’t live without it Great job Ms. Hall You will definitely enjoy this book
Cute story with tropes I like (fake dating/marriage turned real; instalove; stepdaddy - daddy that stepped up) and enough drama and plot twists to keep it interesting.
I didn’t like though that the MMC still have major secrets kept from the FMC. That was weird, especially with his huge reaction to her secret. Her not getting to find out the full truth about his business and her BD was a weird choice by the author.
I haven’t met an Adonis in a book yet that I didn’t like, and Adonis Holland is no exception. He had that undeniable presence that made him easy to root for from the start.
Now, Simora worked my nerves a bit…she brought up his money one too many times, but she eventually grew on me. She was a good mom and thats what mattered.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and was glad to see everything work out the way it did. A solid read with a memorable MMC.
I’m a sucker for fake dating/marriage, and this story definitely delivered. I do feel like the heaviness of everyone’s secrets was wrapped up super fast. The end resolve didn’t give me enough, BUT the HEA and epilogue I loved, so it balanced out. First time reading KL Hall, and I’m looking forward to reading more from her.
This was so good. The way the main characters fought a love that was inevitable, to the budding relationship with her son. There were more sparks than spice and little bit of well placed drama. This was a good read (single parent, fake relationship turned real tropes)
This was a good read. It took him a minute to realize but Adonis wanted her from the very first time he laid eyes on her. I loved how their relationship developed in just a short time.
Adonis had that hard core wall built around his heart!! He ran into Sim with a deal she could not refuse and he in the long run let that wall fall!! This book was sooo good!! 5 star read!
The struggle of being a single mom. So many women can relate. Doing everything and feeling like you can’t catch a break. Poor Sim! That final straw was when she got fired. I’m so glad that she met Adonis. He gave her a proposition that would have been silly to refuse.
Interesting, gripping, and page turning romance from one elevator ride. Adonis and Simora's chemistry was steamy ,rocky and romantic from beginning to end. Definitely worth the read . 5 ⭐
Now Adonis wasn’t sure about Simora but his gut told him to take a chance and he did. Neither expected their chemistry to be that explosive and soul snatching but Adonis got the family he always wanted and Simora found stability and a partner for life. Great story
It was a good twist. I love when I think something is going to happen and the author does the complete opposite. That man ran down 2 flights of stairs to catch up with her. That's a man who sees who he wants and goes after them.
I love a good step/insta daddy trope. I’m glad Adonis found out about who Mason’s bio dad was in the middle and not towards the end of the book. It’s funny to think that Sim and Adonis met and married with 2 weeks of knowing each other
I just picked a book without reading what it was about and I loved it. Sim and Adonis were just meant to be. She made him forget that he was a workaholic and she and Mason gave him peace that he couldn't comprehend. Y'all have to read this one! Happy Reading Y'all!💋
This read is so sweet and well written. The storyline is interesting with likeable, well developed characters. That have a relationship that they didn't see coming and ended so sweetly.
First time reading from this author. This was a good introduction to her work, I enjoyed Adonis and Sim's story. It was so cute, even with them both being stubborn at a point. I'll definitely be checking for her catalog now.
Adonis and Samori never experienced real love. When the love bug hit them they were both denied what was happening. I am so happy with the ending. Great love story.
I loved this book from start to finish. I love a good fake marriage or arranged marriage and this one was good. Adonis had conquered everything except love. I'm glad he let Mason and Simora into his heart
