This is my most favorite KyleVerse story ever. I love Jenni. I want to BE Jenni. And the way Blake reacts to her is just so sweet. I was howling with laughter throughout and I wanted to highlight quotes, but basically would have been highlighting the entire novella. You should just read it for yourself.
This is the 14th entry in the series and it’s one of the easier to follow if you’re a newbie (although I highly recommend ALL of the others for character backstories and dynamics; they’re also excellent in their own rights). Jenni presents as a lump of coal but that doesn’t stop her from participating in the spicy times. Also, she tastes like hot chocolate and has a hideous form that she’s horribly embarrassed about. Blake is a loner with a treasured pet fish. Jenni is a fae fish assassin. Her other form is not fish-based, she just assassinates them. Through the intervention and support of Kyle, they find their way to each other and Blake helps Jenni accept her horribly hideous form.

What exactly does one say about a romance between a shape shifting coal fae fish assassin that has hot chocolate flavoured cum and the guy she got sent to as a prank …. Two words, Hot & Hilarious.
Jenni is a really funny character, she’s so blunt and it makes for a very fun read. I enjoyed Blake and of course the one of a kind fantastic Kyle, plus we got to go back to treasure trove even if we didn’t have any fun with the toys there.

This one might be the strangest Kyleverse story I’ve read so far, and I mean that in the best way. A fae fish assassin who shows up as a lump of coal was not on my bingo card, but Jenni’s chaotic energy pulled me in right away. I loved watching her bounce off Blake, especially as he goes from confused to fascinated to completely smitten. I always want more from the Kyleverse!

Kyle has really grown into his supportive role as the not main character who is absolutely the main character.

God i loved Jenni so much she was a right hoot and poor Blake didn't know what he got himself into.
I read this so fast like I do with all of Nicole Parkers books and there is definitely never a dull or boring moment in these books!
And I can agree Kyle is definitely not just a regular guy!

Listen, if Nicole writes it, I’m going to be dying of laughter by the end of the book. And I love it everytime. Slay was absolutely ICONIC. Jenni, our fmc and gorgeous fish assassin is my favorite character in the whole Kyleverse series. She’s hilarious and super sassy. She’s just what Blake needs! When she’s not hunting down fish, you can find her being the hottest coal around town. I cannot wait to see Jenni and Blake again!

I've said it before and I'll say it again.... how quickly Author Nicole Parker manages to make me fall in love with these characters... it's an art form.
Every time we get a new character and a new POV, I literally become more obsessed with this group of characters.
At the end of Played I was so excited to see what part this little "lump of coal" was going to end up playing.
And of course it's this little spit fire of a character... like seriously a fae fish assassin?!
Didn't see that one coming...but let me tell you what I frigging love her!
She's sassy, she's spicy....she literally gives no f's....well she cares a lot about that actually. IYKYK.
And of course she manages to end up "gifted" to the owner of our beloved pet fish Thea (don't worry she's safe).
Add in our MVP bestie Kyle and it's a good old time!

As soon as I met Blake, I was in love with him. I have encountered many assassins, but this is my first time meeting a fish assassin. I laughed at Jenni and Blake's first meeting. Kudos to Jenni for not fully freaking out when she met Blake.
This lump of coal is one that you actually will enjoy. He and Jenni make a cute couple. The way that Blake did not tease Jenni when she had her moment was endearing. This novella is a fun read.
