Who knew there were so many ways for psychic readers to obtain information?! This little gem contains lots of factual information, written in a concise, easy-to-read manner. It helped me to understand how psychic readers can use tools to receive, or confirm, the messages they receive. Best of all, the author wrote in a conversational manner, peppered with humor and her experience of using the tools. If you want to develop a better understanding of divination, this book is for you.

AS PRINTED IN BECOMING PSYCHIC MAGAZINE, MARCH 2014:

In How to Read an Egg: Divination for the Easily Bored, Colette Brown takes us on a journey of her experimentations with some forgotten about, lesser known, and sometimes crazy tools of divination. As she states early on in the book, divination can be done with nothing more than the third eye, but the tools used can help with keeping focus, receiving additional information, and getting the clients to trust what they are paying for. With tools of sorts being used, the client can see that the answer they are about to hear is “coming from somewhere.” Much like the stethoscope for the doctor or the hammer for the carpenter, tools of the trade being used by the professional helps the customer to believe in the aptitude of the one providing the information. How to Read an Egg: Divination for the Easily Bored is a book that introduces us to some unusual ways of getting psychic readings.

Before pendulums, shamanic totem cards, crystal balls, and other typically seen oracle devices used today, how were questions answered by intuitive readers? Where could the psychic turn to get the much needed answers for the inquiring person before them? Colette Brown introduces us to some of the items mentioned in Greek and Roman mythology, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cultures, as well as Chinese, Scottish, and German heritage. Across the world and throughout history, different cultures have honed different ways of finding intuitive answers to the impossible questions of life.

In How to Read an Egg: Divination for the Easily Bored, Colette Brown provides us with background on her own adventures with different divination tools she has used throughout her career. From reading a paperweight with great success to becoming well known for her use and accuracy with Tarot cards, Brown has tried and evaluated many items within the typical psychic tool box. But she has taken a brave step with How to Read an Egg. She has left her comfort zone of successful divination tools behind and put the tools of the past into action. The title of the book is not just unique; it’s actually the first thing she teaches us how to do. Yes, you will learn how to psychically read an egg.

Each chapter of Brown’s book is an opening up of the mind, soul, and body. She introduces us to a divination tool from the past, gives a history on the cultural beliefs behind its uses, and proceeds to use the tool in her own study. With a client on the receiving end, Brown uses the divination tools to give a reading, evaluate how she feels it went, and then gives us the evaluation and thoughts of the client themselves.

This experiment of past tools of the trade is an amazing feat for Colette Brown. I thoroughly enjoyed the history of each item, the explanation of how the tool is used in a reading, and the honesty she displays throughout as to how her experiments concluded. I love the humour filling the pages of this book and the fun she brings to the stories and the quirky divination tools. I felt like a student to one of the friendliest teachers I have ever had. I highly recommend this book to those who delve into the field of intuitive readings, whether you are a spiritual business owner, a customer, or just curious about what it might be. This is a fun read and you’ll learn something while doing it.

How could you resist a title like ‘How To Read An Egg: Divination For The Easily Bored’? Or, as author Colette Brown says: “You have tried the tarot, ruminated with the runes and are all angel carded out! Now try the less well known, the tribal, the forgotten and the truly bonkers! Divination, the art of prediction or psychic insight by use of supernatural means, can be accurate and fun!” The odd thing about divination is that is works ... some swear by the Tarot, while others go into crystal thrall and pendulum twirling, or spend hours gazing into a crystal ball shot through with rutile. Some excel at one type of divination, while other methods leave them cold ... now Colette Brown has come up with a highly unusual and fresh approach to learning about divination. Or as the man said: where else could you have so much fun without laughing. This book is non-stop fun but with serious undercurrents that are perfect for the beginner who wonders why they can’t get to grips with a particular technique or divinatory method. Highly recommended.
