The Galactic Knights Uniformed was never meant to be a paramilitary organization. If anything, it was supposed to be the opposite.
Advocates for justice. Unbiased by the major galactic powers. But few things corrupt as quickly as power, especially when its being fueled by the Sorcerers' digital plague.
Alexander and his crew want to pull civilization back together, to put things right. And yet, he'll face more than just extremists, pirates, and tyrants. They'll come face to face with something even more horrific than cybernetic extremists bent on genocide.
Lawyers and bureaucrats. The kind willing to capitalize on pain and suffering.
They brand Alexander a dictator even as the Sorcerers' real ambitions come to light. It's not just death and destruction, but the systematic repurposing of life itself. And it will happen sooner than anyone thought.
Faced with impossible choices against an enemy no one alive can predict, Alexander may have to sacrifice even more of himself to see justice done.
Alexander, Ban and the rest of the GKU retinue are finding themselves overwhelmed with the ever increasing number of tasks that have to be accomplished yesterday. While life has been challenging already thanks to the many plans-within-plans that are now being studied in hopes of a solution, the crew races from one type of combat to another.
This is a hugely complex task from the start. However it is becoming increasingly clear that besides the Sorcerers and their far too dangerous virus, they recognize a divergence that shows another enemy is manipulating events in the background. This emerging crisis has signs that ultimately will be dangerously complex compared to the existing danger from the Sorcerers.
Of course the valiant force refuses to give less than everything possible against their foes, and then they come up with that extra effort over and over again.
This is, in my opinion, the perfect setup for the last book in the series (which the authors say is the next book).
Alex, Ban, Diliseth, and (of course) Four are some of my favorite characters in fiction, and the authors do a great job of keeping the action moving forward.
One of several questions is this: just how long can Conoku live? The amazing creature at Starsmith would have to be around 800 years old or so! And where's Matterforge? Has he not revealed himself yet?
I love the moral debate on whether or not Four should allow himself to be cloned and copied. My answer: yes. But then, if you don't clone Four, then in Backyard Starship and the Peacemaker Wars you have no Netty, Perry, or the other integral AIs.
It's a great thing when you can go back in and fill out back-story, and make it just as intriguing and entertaining as the original.
Another must read book by Chaney , Maggert, and Bunce
This is the 6th book in the First Peacemaker Series starring Alexander Hawkes and his crew of Ban Tarro, Dilliseth, FOUR, and the GKU. The writing is superb and the plot keeps spinning tangled webs of the Sorcerers plot to end organic life. Alex and his crew have some incredible adventures and losses in this wonderful series. It has become one of my favorite space operas and action books. I blitz through these in a binge like reading to find out how Alex and his crew are going resolve this crisis. This book is another great one from Chaney \& etc.... A must read.
This is the most inspiring work I have encountered in quite a while. I am in the final stages of recovery from a long illness. This was so provocative and entertaining I forgot my ills and entered a state of delirious joy that has enabled me to forge ahead with my on operations to bring about a better world. Prepare for it. All calculations point to June 2026. Enjoy the read and follow its theme. Take care of those without a voice. Elohim teach me to do your will.
The war against the virus and the Sorcerers takes an unexpected turn...
While attempting to bring the Reclamators to justice for trafficking animals, the peacemakers are stymied by lawyers! This leads to a search for their own lawyer as revelations unfold about the virus and the Sorcerers. This tale is peppered with action, suspense, intrigue, AIs, new ship and old scrappy ship smells, new perspectives, lawyer speak and battles. A fun read.
This is a great read, especially in times as crazy and uncertain as ours. Wonderful characters, that are easy to care about and wish well, navigate a galaxy in chaos and on the brink of war. They're determined to set things right. Tag along as a fly on the wall and find out.
Arron Bunce, Terry Maggert, and JN Chaney continue to get better and better. This book is outstanding. It stands on its own as a series but also is intertwining with Backyard Starship in a great way. I can't wait to see how this all pans out.
Still growing. The tale of Alexander Hawke never stops expanding, new problems, new friends, and new adventures. I can't wait to see how "TV" dinners affects the outcome of this complex series.
The story continues to evolve with our trusted set of characters, with new ones joining at appropriate moments. If you liked the previous 5 you will love this one.
