'Called' (The Realm Book 3) by C.M. Miller is the third book of four in the The Realm series. It invites readers into a reimagined Neverland that is both intriguing and unsettling.

As I haven’t read the first two books, I can’t comment on how this one compares to the first two. However, reading this as a standalone is possible.

The main points of view in the story are Meg, and Alexis. And it is in this book that Meg's role in Neverland becomes clearer. The author, C.M. Miller, infuses this instalment with inventive twists, particularly in the way Neverland’s familiar magic is given a darker, more mysterious edge. The absence of Peter Pan and the witch's growing influence keep the suspense high and the stakes personal. No spoilers, but someone is related to someone...

For the most part, the action sequences are well-grounded in character motivation, and the quieter, more introspective moments add richness to the narrative as the protagonist reflects on the outcomes of her choices.

Meg is a relatable and engaging lead; her journey through a fractured fairytale world is filled with emotions and genuine tension, and her challenges are thoughtfully explored. Overall, 'Called' offers a satisfying blend of adventure, suspense, atmosphere, and character-driven storytelling for fans of alternative versions of well-known stories.

Called (The Realm Book 3) takes the beloved world of Neverland and turns it delightfully on its head. C.M. Miller has crafted a captivating continuation that proves fairytales are never quite what they seem, and her talent for scene-building is on full display throughout.
The mirror maze sequence in Chapter 4 is absolutely riveting. Miller builds atmosphere beautifully as Meg follows the hooded figure through reflections and shadows. The carnival scene bursts with sensory details: white flowers cascading like snowfall, children's laughter, the queen's unsettling presence. Miller lets the wrongness of Neverland sink in gradually.
Chapter 8 delivers genuine suspense as Meg attempts escape while the queen toys with her. The shadow magic and Luna's rescue feel earned rather than convenient. Miller excels at writing action grounded in character emotions.
The quieter moments shine equally bright. Luna and Meg's conversation in Chapter 9 about Hook's curse reveals Miller's skill with exposition that never feels heavy-handed. Alexis and Mishael's dream world exchange adds wonderful texture to the mythology.
Miller understands pacing, knows her characters intimately, and trusts her readers. This is confident storytelling.

This book is a satisfying, emotional continuation of The Realm series. I loved how writer pulls together threads from Neverland, Wonderland, and the wider Realm without ever losing sight of the characters’ hearts. Alexis really shines here: her struggle with the moonstone’s power and the fear of becoming a monster gave the story more depth than a typical YA fantasy, and her dynamic with Kayl is both sweet and grunded in real conflict.

Meg, Rodrigo, Pan, and Luna add a fun, adventurous counterbalance with pirate ships, illusions, and hints of future quests. The proposal and wedding plotlines could have felt cheesy, but instead they come across as earned moments after everything these characters have survived.

The pacing dips slightly in a few explanatory sections, and this is definitely not a good starting point for new readers—you’ll want books 1 and 2 first. But as a third installment, it delivers: higher stakes, emotional growth, and a hopeful, open ending that leaves room for more adventures.

Overall, a warm, imaginative fantasy with just enough romance and danger to keep the pages turning.

Called (The Realm Book 3) is balanced between the POVs of Meg and Alexis, with little snippets of Hook. Once again, I was so impressed by the level of worldbuilding, the development of characters, the pacing, and the plot. CM Miller writes clear prose with interesting plots and characters.

This book focuses a little more on Meg than Alexis, but I actually really enjoyed Meg's story, maybe even more than Alexis's in this one. There are developments and changing situations for Alexis, too, but there were a lot of big changes for Meg. I really enjoyed the snippets from Hook, too. This is mild romance for both Meg and Alexis, but it is more sweet than spicy, which I liked, especially for the type of story this is and the fairy tale angle. The story picks up after the previous one, so it's recommended to read the books in this series in order. And I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

If you like strong female protagonists and fresh takes on fairy tales, like Peter Pan, Hook, Neverland in this story, then this series is for you!

This series is a fun re-imagining of the age-old fairy tales. It's perfect for fans of the show Once Upon a Time.

Called (The Realm Book 3) by C.M. Miller reimagines Neverland with a haunting twist that blends magic, mystery, and emotional depth. This installment pulls Meg back into a world of fractured fairytales, one where Peter Pan is missing, Captain Hook has vanished, and a witch now rules the island. The familiar story is turned on its head, and Miller’s atmospheric writing makes this darker Neverland both eerie and mesmerizing.
Meg remains a strong and relatable heroine, torn between her longing for home and her growing belief in second chances. The mirror maze and carnival scenes are particularly striking, showcasing Miller’s skill in crafting vivid, cinematic moments. Though the pacing occasionally falters, the character-driven emotion and inventive worldbuilding more than make up for it.
For fans of reimagined fairytales and emotional fantasy adventures, Called delivers a satisfying and imaginative continuation of The Realm trilogy.

Called is a twisted tale. By twisted, I mean that the author has taken an existing fairy tale and added new elements, new plots, and new actions. In this case, Miller has taken the story of Peter Pan (along with elements of a couple of other tales) and twisted it to give it a whole new feel. I found it interesting to see what was kept and what was added. It made me think of the original story in a whole different way. After I downloaded the book, I noticed one of the tags was Romance, which almost made me return it as I am not a fan. The romance part of this, however, was low key and minimal so if you are like-minded, I wouldn’t let it deter you. I found some parts of this book confusing. It does jump around a bit. I haven’t read books one and two of the series, so that may have affected my understanding. The writing style is not complex, which may be part of the strategy to make it fairy talish.
