Forever Will You Suffer

Rate this book
Unsuspecting Rick Summers had simply gone to the cemetery to visit the graves of his mother and sister, killed in a car accident years earlier. He had the cabbie wait for him. But when he got back into the taxi, he didn’t have the same driver. His new chauffeur was a re-animated corpse. And he was about to take a drive into hell. The doors to hell open in the house of his ex-lover, Katarina, where he is delivered by his not-so-sweet smelling driver. Rick learns that Katarina is missing and has been recently plagued by a stalker. That’s just the beginning of the bad news. When the house changes right before their unbelieving eyes, taking them somewhen and somewhere else, a horrifying mystery begins to unfold. At its heart is unrequited love. And Rick Summers. It seems that several lifetimes ago, Rick, then Thomas, spurned a woman named Abigail. Not a good idea. Because Abigail’s great at holding a grudge, some of her best friends are demons, and she’s dedicated to keeping a promise she made to Rick long, long ago. Forever will I remember; forever will you suffer.”

Forever Will You Suffer by Gary Frank

This was an excellent read! Frank delves into the mysterious rites of passage into death only death becomes the passage itself for his protagonist Abigail, a witch from times long since past.

Frank definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat awaiting the next transition his main character Rick Summers would undergo as he is transported through the horrors Abigail leaves lying in wait for him - her promise "Forever Will You Suffer" is a promise kept through the eternities of time and suffer Summers does for a crime of passion - an unrequited lover determined to make his life a living hell.

The progress of the story and refreshing new spin he lends the audience into the horror genre truly shows the talent Frank has that will surpass many an author as he himself transitions into what I believe will be a better than best selling author. He's definitely an author on the verge of greatness and I would highly recommend reading "Forever Will You Suffer". - Psychological Thriller/Horror Author, Kristy Tallman

What a good read and great book. I truly enjoyed reading this book, it gives a breath of fresh air to the horror genre. Gary, has done an excellent job of telling the story of a centuries old promise of Forever Will You Suffer.

The book starts out with Rich Summers going to the cemetery to visit his mothers and sisters graves. When he returns to the cab that has been waiting for him. He notices an awful smell. The cab starts driving away and there is thump under the car. Rich looks out the back window to notice the original driver dead in the road.

He is dropped off at a old girlfriend's house only to find out she is in hiding because of stalker. This is where the roller coaster ride starts and you will not want to put this book down. Who is who and what is what. This is how you will go through in the book. It keeps you wanting to turn the pages to find out what is next. You will never know how this book is going to end until you turn the last page.
This kind of writing is what will make Gary Frank a best selling author.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but it certainly is a page turner! Mr. Frank does a great job with keeping things moving at a very fast pace leaving you wondering why the characters still even want to live after all they have been put through. I love trying to figure out where the author is going with their book, however, I didn't do very well this time. Gary had me guessing and doing it incorrectly which is a wonderful dilemma for me. I really enjoyed the story and felt for the characters as well, again, as not anticipating the ending. Congrats Gary!

There are few books I dislike as much as this. While the original premise seemed interesting/original the writing itself didn't follow through. There are so very many jeers that could be thrown at a book such as this that the act of jeering itself becomes exasperating. Let me just say. Characters are idiots...Plot line insufficient...Grammatical errors everywhere!

This book should have a trigger warning for rape as there are scenes of assault.

This author used the typical 'haunted house' trope but included topics of reincarnation, life vs. death, and time travel.

I would describe this book as ambitious at best but slightly unorganized. It could've benefited from proofreading as there are many errors.

The author had a great idea but clearly struggled with attaining it (as noted by the rambling sentence structures and the confusing details near the end).

Overall, I'd say 2/5 stars. I wouldn't be inclined to re-read it and I doubt I'd recommend it to a friend.

For the life of me, I don't know how this book was ever published. The story is just goes on and on in random directions and the writing is awful right down to the puncuation. I don't mean to be a hater. I really don't, but if I didn't know better I'd swear this was a self published book. SOMEHOW it was picked up by an actual publisher and ended up on the shelves of Books A Million. Incredible. Definitely one of the worst books I've ever read. Maybe the author improved with his other novels. I wouldn't know.

This book was a wild ride! You dive into the crazy horror immediately and the pandemonium doesn't stop. While it gets a little confusing at times, over all a good first novel by the author. Frank does an amazing job detailing the dark and spooky. I look forward to reading another book by him soon.

I was intrigued by the premise of this book and for the first three-quarters was fairly entertained, but the ending fell apart and I quickly realized that this story would have been better suited as a novella. I also have a problem with horror writers writing in the first person, because you can immediately assume that the protagonist won't die... he can't, because he's telling the story. This isn't always the case, of course, but horror tales in the third person are usually more suspenseful. Horror legends like Richard Laymon and Bentley Little can pull it off successfully, but not many others. First person storytelling is also a sign of a first-time writer, as is the case here.

My other criticism is the heavy use of dialogue pushing the story instead of characters' actions, which are always more interesting. I use the phrase "show, don't tell" to let the reader figure out things on their own in order to make the experience more engaging. That being said, I'm curious to read Gary Frank's next work and see the growth of his writing and storytelling skills.

What to say about this particular book... Started off with what I felt was such promise. Set a good tone, drew me in, kept my interest; queue the second half and everything fell apart for me. To be fair, it has been a few years since reading this novel but the one thing that sticks with me more than anything is the disappointment I felt in how the book seems to trail off into absurdity. This isn't a horrible read, and it will likely entertain you throughout (if this is your type of genre), but in my opinion it just seemed to fall apart throughout the final acts.

The first truly classified Horror genera book I have ever read! And what a fantastic read I simply couldn't put the book down, the first chapter I felt was a little absurd but then I realized that's just the premise of the book if it weren't for that first chapter I don't believe i would have kept reading.
