Dusk Valley #3

Warning Shot

Rate this book
Fifteen years ago, the worst night of her life led to Sutton Rausch calling it quits on her relationship with Lane Lawless.

Now a paramedic, Sutton’s world is once again flipped upside when Lane is shot and nearly dies. Old feelings she’s spent years trying to bury are dragged back to the surface. When her home is broken into and she narrowly escapes, Lane’s is the first place she runs for help.

His brush with death put a lot of things into perspective for the county sheriff. Letting Sutton go had been the worst mistake of Lane’s life, and when she moves in with him, he sees it as his chance to repair what broke between them.

The longer they live together, the closer they get. Sutton is reminded of everything she loves about Lane—especially the soft center beneath his broody, overprotective exterior. Lane realizes how much he missed Sutton’s sunshine in his life.

But not everyone is happy they’re rekindling their old romance, and they’ll do anything to drive a wedge between Sutton and Lane.

Lane will stop at nothing to keep Sutton safe and find who’s targeting them. So far, every threat has merely been a warning shot, but then next may shatter their second chance for good.

Oh, I DEVOURED THIS BOOK. I’ve been waiting for Sutton and Lane’s story since book 1 and the author nailed it for me.

My heart broke for Sutton and her story was sooooo not what I was expecting but it was so beautifully written. I’m not a big of second chance romances but it worked here. And I wasn’t expecting Lane to be such a daddy. I could have wacked him with a pan for ignoring the obvious for so long.

The Lawless family is becoming a fave for me and I need to go back and read Owen’a story at some point.

My only gripe would be the ending felt rushed. At the 86%, it felt full speed ahead and the Lawless family felt underdeveloped. You’re telling me that Lane’s girlfriend gets arrested and they react by… eating lunch? No concern for Sutton at all except from Trey? Felt very weird and out of character.

But other than that, loved! Can’t wait for book 4! Fingers crossed for Trey’s book being next! Although have a feeling it’ll be West which I’m not mad about.

All I know is that I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! I actually don’t read any other romantic suspense books and I feel like I should bc it is a THRILL! But anyway! Amanda is that girl! She is literally killing it with this series! AND this one is a second chance which I LOOOOVE and she writes it so well!! Everything about the Lawless family makes my heart so happy! While they just happen to have crappy luck… them as a whole!! They’re so perfect! Amanda also leaves just enough crumbs about what’s to come?! I’m very excited about whatever is next!!!

Sutton and Lane were simply EVERYTHING to me. I loved how much they loved each other!! I loved how they so easily fell back into a rhythm, even before they really “got back together”. The fact that we’re in each other orbit again just made them both feel as ease and that was obvious.

Then even before the chaos (complimentary) that is this book, they really went through it. And I think Sutton’s assault and her, and even Lane’s, trauma surrounding that was written so well and so carefully. It was still very much on going for Sutton and just because her and Lane reunited she wasn’t automatically healed. Seeing him still be gentle and thoughtful surrounding that was not only necessary but also so sweet to see him putting in the work for their relationship!

And then literally everything else!!!! Amanda said that her beta reader called it “unhinged” and IT WAS!! Again VERY complimentary! It’s different than the other two but in such a refreshing way!! I love a good old fashioned police procedural, and this one was the episode that’s the mid season finale, where it’s just a little creepier, a little more serious (not that the other two weren’t bc they very much were!!!!), the tensions are high!!! Because they have to make sure everyone comes back!!! Genuinely it was so goooooood!

I love this series. I love Amanda. I loved the little Logan and Berkley cameos!! I loved seeing Owen!! And then mention of his and Delia’s little faaamily!

Thanks to Amanda Chaperon for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Listen, if you're taking yourself too seriously and never picking up a romantic suspense, what are you doing? I'm not big on the thriller genre, but I will gobble up a romantic suspense. Maybe its because there's ooey gooey marshmallow underneath the flaming, blackened outside. Maybe its because the pacing is so quick that I don't have time to think too hard about how scary what's happening to the characters is. Maybe its because I one hundred percent of the time devour them in under 24 hours. Maybe its because Amanda Chaperon just knows how to do it.

Is this book gratuitous? In every definition, in every lifetime, in every possibility, yes. Are we forgiving and justifying murder in the name of honor and love? Absolutely. Are we banging it out while being stalked? For sure. Are we using our occupations and life skills to maybe have our own militia and do whatever we want whether its against the law or not? Indubitably. (they are the Lawless brothers, for pete's sake) But just don't think too hard about it. Because its not that serious. And its a freaking good time.

Chaperon has nailed pacing and structure. She can inform you of the situation without going so deep into it that you start to question how logistically this could really all work out. She makes it feel real (but not too real) and exciting and fun and adventurous. I refuse to deny myself a good time like this.

Potato Chips in their finest form found right here. And what is a balanced diet without them?

Thank you Amanda & Team for the advanced copy.

This series keeps getting better and better!

We have been teased for Lane and Sutton since book one, and I’m so glad we finally got their story! Lane is the town Sheriff, and Sutton is a paramedic. They know each other from college, and after something traumatic happens they go their separate ways, but living in the same town doesn’t really give them the opportunity to avoid each other. When Sutton’s life is put in danger, Lane will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.

This has second chance, romantic suspense, found family, touch her and die vibes, small town.

I was provided an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Truly, I have read Amanda's entire library and she has not disappointed me once. Her writing is truly a joy to read. She has a way of giving you everything you didn't even know you wanted, and Warning Shot is absolutely no different.

I purposely spread reading this book out more than normal because I didn't want it to end. I really enjoy the way Sutton and Lane's story was sprinkled and egged on in books 1 and 2 of Dusk Valley. I was BEGGING to read their love story and see how they finally came back to each other and I had HIGH expectations and this didn't disappoint.

Sutton and Lane truly have such a backstory. The way the story is set up as a whole was done so well. You didn't get info dumped and bored, but you weren't thinking 'wtf is going on?' at all either. You got a piece here and a piece there and truly made you understand, as a reader, why they were moving in the way they were doing.

I LOVED Lane's dream at the beginning. It was such a good addition for me. I loved seeing WHY Lane acts like such a button up cop as he does and where that came from. I can easily say I didn't see that coming in the best way.

I LOVED the different POV chapters. That's all I'll say because I don't want to spoil it, but when the first one came up I was like OHHHHHHHHHHH. I loved that different and new angle to an Amanda book!

Overall, I really had such a good time with this. I think the overall suspense aspect of the book was SUPER obvious from the very beginning, but truly I think it was supposed to be to the reader. It absolutely didn't take away from the book as a whole. I was surprised by who/what else was going on with the main part of it (i'm not sure if that even makes sense. BUT IYKYK).

I have said it before, and I will actually never stop saying it. If you haven't read an Amanda Chaperon book, please just stop and do it. Her writing truly will pull you in and keep you entertained from the beginning to end. It's bingable, easy to read, and makes you feel like you're part of the family.

Side note, seeing the couples from the other two books truly gives me so much joy. Aspen and Crew forever. lol The epilogue with them was one of my favorite scenes!

The Vibes:
-Forced Proximity
-It's Always Been You
-Second Chance Romance
-Touch her and ☠️
-Sheriff x Paramedic

WARNING SHOT by Amanda Chaperon is a steamy small town romantic suspense and book 3 in Dusk Valley, coming to paperback and kindle unlimited February 26!

I have loved every single one of Amanda’s books so so much, and Warning Shot is no different- it might just be my favourite book of hers so far, especially with the psychological thriller vibes in this one! I LOVE romantic suspense and this book went next level!

What I liked:

Everything! No one does second chance quite like Amanda does- it’s her fav trope to write! I loved seeing Lane and Sutton grow closer again. They still loved each other, even after 15 years, but due to what happened to Sutton on her 20th birthday, their all encompassing love for each other had to end. I loved getting inside Lane’s head- he is such a rule abiding sheriff (as he should be!), but it’s nice to see the softer side of him- underneath his intense need to protect those he loves- mainly Sutton and his family. He has many layers that make up who he is. I love.ld how strong Sutton is/ despite kids knocking her down so many times, she is still fighting- and fighting for her life at some points! I loved how she let Lane back in, and he proved to her he’s going to stay. The steamy scenes between these two were next level- when Sutton takes control? 🥵🥵🔥🔥🔥 I also love the dynamic between all the Lawless brothers- their group chat is the best! And I loved how welcoming and supportive Aspen and Reagan were to Sutton, making her feel so at home within the family! Team Sutton all the way!

This book tho- the psychological thriller vibes? Amanda did an EXCELLENT job weaving all the webs of this story together. Like- the detail! Connecting everything together! So well done! I did guess the whodunit, but I was still amazed at how everything came together!

Would I recommend it?

100% YES! But you have to start with book one- there are overarching themes present throughout the series and it’s best to start with book one. If you are a fan of romantic suspense and fans of Catherine Cowles and Ava Hunter, you will love Warning Shot and this series!

I received this book as an ARC and am providing my honest review below.

I never really connected with Sutton or Lane in this book. I will be the first to admit that this may be because this is the first book in the series I've read, so I may be missing context, but I honestly found most of the other characters more exciting than our MMCs.. There is obviously a ton of tension between Sutton and Lane and from the very beginning of the book it is clear that they are OBSESSED with one another - even if they won't admit it. I was really excited to find out what drove them apart all those years ago, but .
I loved the mystery and suspense elements of this book (romantic suspense might be my favorite genre), but I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why
Overall, this was a fun read and I'd probably go back and try to read the first in the series to see if it's more for me!

Warning Shot is book 3 in the Dusk Valley series featuring Lane Lawless & Sutton Rausch.

After Lane is shot while the Lawless brothers are on a mission to rescue Reagan (Distress Signal), Sutton, one of the towns paramedics works tirelessly to keep him alive on the way to the hospital. After a touch and go trip to the hospital, Lane is taken in for surgery and Sutton quietly falls apart.

Lane and Sutton have a history, once best friends turned more in college but their relationship met a cold end far too quickly after Sutton was assaulted. The two have spent the last 10 years avoiding each other as much as possible, however with Lane being the town sherif and Sutton the paramedic, they cross paths quite often.

While in a coma, Lane dreams of his life with Sutton and wakes up determined to see her. Unfortunately with their history nothing goes as planned.

Later, when her house is broken into Sutton goes to the one person she knows will keep her safe, and winds up on Lanes doorstep. He’s determined to convince her that they should give things another shot, but when outside forces continue t put pressure on Sutton, will they manage to come away unharmed and together?

If you haven’t had the opportunity to read this series yet I HIGHLY recommend doing so now! This book was absolutely phenomenal, I love the mysterious aspect of the stories and it keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to solve the case and have the characters get their HEA.

This may be my new series favioute and I can’t wait to see more of Lane & Sutton in the rest of this series!

Thank you Amanda for the ARC!

OMFGG. I am done. Dead. Deceased. This book ruined me in the best possible way. I am going to need a few business days to recover. Dare I say though this was by far my favorite in the entire series.

While my crime junkie heart loved the first two, there was just something about this one. As one of Amanda’a beta readers said, it is “unhinged” and yes that is the perfect word for it. It is totally unhinged, but in the most perfect way. In the way that has you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails and refusing to put the book down because you NEED to find out what happens.

I am, and always will be a sucker for a second chance romance and Lane and Suttons were one of my absolute favorites. I loved how they just always loved each other even when they didn’t show it physically. It was just so obvious they were soulmates. End game in every way.

They really went through it though, especially Sutton. Poor sweet Sunny, but seeing all she endured and to still come out and be so empowering and badass? Honestly I am in awe of this woman. And Lane? HE IS THE MAN. He is protective, loyal and would do just about anything for the woman he loves, and I do mean ANYTHING.

I wish there was a way to go back and reread this again for the very first time because honestly this was one of my top reads of 2026! I cannot wait for more from this series.

I binged the first two books in this series and immediately sought an arc for Warning Shot because I needed to read Lane and Sutton's story as soon as I possibly could. And boy, did it not disappoint!

Our grumpy sheriff and favorite paramedic are finally in for their second chance story, thanks to... a stalker in town. They get closer, talk about their past, their feelings. Lane is so very protective and caring. Their chemistry is incredible.

And the suspense part... SO GOOD. We really get the psychological thriller vibes, having different points of view and really getting into the suspect's mind which was so pleasant to read!

And don't start me on the emotional aspect to this story. Their past... wow. I'm not sayong anything else because you need to experience it directly.

I am so very obsessed with this series and so happy I found out about it via Catherine Cowles nonetheless! Amanda Chaperon quickly became an auto-buy author for me and if you're into romantic suspense... READ IT!!

Listen, I just love this series and these Lawless men. They can do no wrong (even if they may skirt the line of legality more often than not). And I stand on that. The men, their wives, their momma… they’re perfection. I love a GOOD second chance, and Lane and Sutton were absolutely everything. This may be my favorite of the entire series. The way they so easily fell right back into each other’s orbit. The way they so obviously loved each other, even when they wouldn’t show it. Literally everything. Amanda took such great care in writing the events and the trauma surrounding Sutton’s assault in college. And the way Lane cared for her and showed her patience and helped her heal, even over a decade later… THIS MAN. Swoon. Protective. Loyal. Will quite literally do ANYTHING for the woman he loves. And even given all Sutton endured, she came out an empowering badass of a woman. Her strength had me in awe. The suspense was great. The little chapters from the unsub (even if we knew who they were), were fantastic. And I really loved the cameos and seeing some of my favorite characters from previous series. Absolutely love this series if you love a little romantic suspense every now and then, and I really suggest reading them in order for the best possible, spoiler-free, experience.

Thank you to Amanda and team for an arc! Please read trigger warnings before diving in.

✨release day book review✨

HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO WARNING SHOT AND MY FRIEND @achaperonwrites!!

I cannot believe it’s finally out in the world and I am so excited for everyone to get to read Sutton and Lane’s story.

Warning Shot
Author: Amanda Chaperon
Rating: 5⭐️

So, if there is one thing I love, it’s a second chance love story. This one had me hooked from the very beginning. Warning Shot literally started off with a bang but seeing how much Sutton and Lane love each other deep down but are trying to stay away from each other made me need to know every detail of their backstory. It turned out to be such a devastating reason but made them coming back together even sweeter. I loved that we had some forced proximity thrown in there as well. Amanda loves giving us these moments and I love it every time.

Of course I’m always trying to guess the bad guy in a romantic suspense book. I had a feeling I was on to something but I wasn’t sure with how Amanda’s brain works. I was messaging her my love reactions as I was reading and boy did I go through it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you MUST read Amanda’s books if you are a fan of Catherine Cowles. They both have the ability to mix the perfect love story with suspense and to keep us on our toes!

Thank you, Amanda, for the ARC! I cannot wait for what’s next.

I really enjoyed Warning Shot and honestly, I’ve loved this whole series so far, and this one definitely delivered. Romantic suspense is probably my favorite subgenre, and Amanda Chaperon just gets it. If you love Catherine Cowles, you will absolutely vibe with her books!

One thing I actually loved (and didn’t expect to love as much as I did) was that the villain felt pretty obvious early on but instead of ruining anything, it made the story even more fun. It turned into that kind of tension where I was just waiting for everything to unravel, and the twists, chaos, and constant sense of danger kept me intrigued the entire time.

Lane and Sutton’s second chance romance was so good. The history between them added a lot of emotional weight, and I loved seeing them find their way back to each other. Sutton’s past is genuinely traumatic, and I really felt for her and there were moments that hit close to home as someone who has experienced the same. Lane was absolutely perfect for her. Protective without being overbearing, soft where it counts… just everything you want in a romantic suspense MMC.

As always, the small town vibes, found family elements, and that mix of danger + romance + spice made this such a great escapist read. It’s emotional, suspenseful, and just plain fun in the best way.

Sutton and Lane
Congratulations to Amanda—this was an incredibly powerful story. There are some heavy topics that may be a trigger or turn-off for certain readers, but the author handles them with care and intention throughout the book.
The main character, Sutton, is still dealing with the trauma of a rape that occurred almost 16 years ago—on New Year’s Eve, which is also her birthday. Many might say she didn’t receive the support she needed from her family at the time, yet she rose from the ashes and built a life for herself the best way she could. Lane was her boyfriend back then, and given how young they were, it’s understandable that circumstances weren’t handled in the best way.
What’s truly beautiful is seeing these two mature adults come back into each other’s lives and help one another heal. Lane is unwaveringly supportive—his only goal is to see Sutton heal, find peace, and move beyond certain traumas at her own pace.
There’s a strong suspense element woven throughout the story, along with a few morally gray moments. Just when you think you have everything figured out, the ending reveals that there’s so much more beneath the surface.
Congratulations again, Amanda. I truly loved this book!

Amanda has, once again, perfectly balanced suspense and romance, and has kept me on the edge of my seat for the entirety of this book!

I feel like this combination of genres is definitely the best slump remedy out there! From the moment I started reading, I couldn't stop! Something was constantly happening — whether it was the thrilling plot or the characters developing and putting their relationship on a higher level — and it was exactly what I needed to get back into reading at the moment.

Sutton has been through SO much, and my heart warmed seeing her slowly regain her confidence and strength, with Lane steadying her through it all. This was a lovely second chance romance that also dealt with a lot of traumatic topics, and I liked how they were talked about and how the characters grew both separately and together. It's always sweet coming back to this town and this family, and I can't wait to see everything else Amanda has planned for the Lawlesses.

While this wasn't my favorite in the series, I still very much enjoyed it, and am happy to finally know what happened to these two in the past. It's definitely not an easy read, and I would highly recommend checking the trigger warnings first, but it's perfect to binge nevertheless. If you're slumping and need something quick and suspenseful, pick up this series!

A huge thank you to the author for sending me an ARC of this book!

ARC Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had the absolute pleasure to receive an ARC from the author of the book and I am leaving an honest review.

This book got me hooked since page one. Reading about this terrible situation Sutton was in that moment had me sweating. I was covered in goosebumps. This story follows Sutton Rausch and Lane Lawless, who were together when they were younger, but due to an terrible event that happened to Sutton on her birthday, they ended their relationship and kept distance since then. After having a break in, Sutton goes directly to Lane, who promises to protect her and makes her stay with him. I loved reading how they overcome past trauma together and rekindled their relationship. I loved having multiple POV’s and getting into every main character’s head. This book is fast paced, has great spicy and tender moments and brings a lot of tension caused by weird incidents that are happening throughout the town. All the suspense was written brilliantly. I would totally recommend this book I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves to read stories in which the characters fight for their love and overcome past trauma, through intimacy and hard work. Overall I had a great time reading it!! Thank you, Amanda for letting me be part of this ARC Team.

Another win for Amanda Chaperon! This book was such a hit. I truly love the Dusk Valley series and can not stress enough how much people should read these. I love the romantic suspense trope and that every book ends as a standalone but also all relate to the others. This one follows are favorite Sheriff Lane Lawless and paramedic Sutton Rausch. The tension that him and Sutton have, has definitely made way for a great story. Lane is so broody and grumpy. But I love seeing him open up more and the otherside of him in this book. I also really enjoyed seeing the antagonist perspective in this book. In the previous two, the reader doesn't find out who the "villian" is until the last couple chapters but this book we get some chapters from them. There is still a plot twist at the end I wasnt expecting but I loved getting both points of view in this one. Overall the plot, the love story, the SUSPENSE, and the spice was 5⭐️. It wasnt as nail biting as the other two but I feel like the tid bits of villan pov really kept you involved and wondering what was going to happen next. Loved it

First off I would like to thank Amanda for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Sutton Rausch & Lane Lawless
OMG! I didn't think anyone could top Crew & Aspen but boy did this one do it. I'm OBSESSED with Lane & Sutton. I devour this book and didn't ever want it to end and was so excited to finally get to see Lane & Sutton get their happy ever after, cause boy did the earn it & after everything they went through and fought against just to get their second chance was so beautiful to see. Ugh I love this book and the tension and the suspense was so freaking great. I love how badd a$$ Sutton is and they fact that she pulled herself out of such a dark spot and was so much stronger for it. I love how devoted Lane was to Sutton and willing to cross any line to keep her safe. Ugh I need more!!!

5/5 Recommend this book. Y'all I'm obsessed with this series that Amanda is writing and they way she gives me the best of both worlds, the romance with the touch of suspense. She balances it so perfectly and keeps you on your toes the whole time.

This one sits somewhere in the middle for me. It’s a good pick if you’re just getting into romantic suspense and want something easy to follow, with drama and a second-chance romance at the center.
For me, it was a smooth and quick read, but it didn’t feel like anything new. The story was quite predictable, and a lot of the tension was told to us instead of really shown through the characters’ actions and emotions. That’s a bit of a turn off for me, because I like to feel the angst and the chemistry rather than just be informed about it.
It’s a shame, because the book had everything it needed to be more emotional and gripping, especially considering Sutton’s past and the whole second-chance dynamic. There was so much potential for deeper moments and stronger emotional impact. I just wish we had seen more of that on the page.

Overall, it’s an okay book. Not bad at all, just not very memorable for me.

I absolutely loved this book! I read it in 2 days on vacation because I had to know how it ended. Gosh, Amanda writes such incredible characters with depth, authenticity and I can’t get enough of these characters and this town. And the steam and chemistry between Sutton and Lane was incredible! 👏🏻👏🏻

In the past few years, I’ve read more thrillers and suspense books. This book combines my love for beautiful romance and my new love for suspense books/shows. There are a few intense scenes that had me on the edge of my seat but knowing that it was a romance book with a happy ending, made the reading journey even better!

I loved seeing Lane protect and care for Sutton. Their tender moments had me swooning and rooting for their relationship. I also really enjoyed characters from Amanda’s other books/series in this book.

Overall, I LOVED this book and will read anything Amanda Chaperon writes! If you like second chance romance books with spice, tender family moments, and suspense, you’ll like this book!

This was a really fun, small town suspense story! Break-in’s , stalker, frame job! Second chance coming to ahead after sheriff Lane, the MMC gets shot in the last book. Lane and Sutton I probably my favorite couple in this series so far I love both the history, the connection and their banter both their personal romance and the suspense were really fun components that completed each other and this story. I also really enjoyed their past what happened to make them break up and what he does afterwards to the bad guy and how she reacts to finding out was perfect. I also loved/would’ve liked to see more of the connection between the brothers it really felt like they were moving as a unit although I would’ve loved to dive into that unit a little bit further the same with the girls we get them doing girl nights but then we get maybe a paragraph and then the story moves on and I would’ve loved to have just explored a little bit more. Also, the end seemed a little rushed. She got wounded, but you don’t know how it felt like there was a couple missing chapters or Something.

Warning Shot by Amanda Chaperon ARC review .

I absolutely loved this book , right from the start it was exciting, cannot wait for this next book -the Lawless family live in my head rent free!

Lane is the Sheriff and Sutton a paramedic in the Fire Brigade, they both have a mutual loathing of each other or so it seems ..

Lane is nearly killed by a madman and Sutton saves his life and that's when feeling start to change and they both realise what they mean to each other, but Suttons past threatens to spoil everything .

Then there is several break-ins and Sutton goes to stay with Lane , meanwhile there are people who do not want to see them together and will do whatever it takes to keep them apart.

I'm trying not to give too much away ,but this book was the perfect mix of thriller, suspense and romance for me.

Cannot wait for the next book , and more Lawless family love and madness !

5 star read 🌟 🤩

“I was still desperately, irrevocably in love with Lane Lawless. And I had no idea what to do about it.”

Sometimes, things just work out almost like magic when it is the right time. Lane’s tale felt exactly like that despite the troubles that came their way. They were together once but time wasn’t on their side back then. And now? Nothing can keep them apart. Nothing.

I am now a big fan of the way Lane learns the tiny things about his sunny; the kindle and the lights, the shampoo and the conditioner are only just a few examples. Returning to Dusk Valley to witness him finally claiming his happiness has been truly lovely.

Thank you @achaperonwrites for letting me be an advance reader yet again. It has been an absolute pleasure to meet the Lawless clan and I’m certainly looking forward to my next visit to Dusk Valley!

Here’s wishing Chief and his sunny a very happy introduction to the world today. Happy Release Day!! 💙💙💙

Y'all know I am a massive massive fan of Amanda Chaperon and the Dusk Valley series, and she never, ever disappoints me.

Sutton saved Lane's life when he was shot last year. And now someone is breaking into her house, following her at work, and the only place she feels safe is at the house of the grumpy Sheriff and her college love's house- Lane's house.

Romantic suspense is my jam - I want things steaming and tense in more ways than one. This book was slightly different in that the whole way through you knew who was doing it- there were chapters from their perspective - but you couldn't quite figure out how, and that was what I loved, the tension! Plus Sutton and Lane were so sweet, the way that they gave in to each other was very lovely.

A million five stars for Amanda, please, in exchange for more stories.

This series has been such a ride so far with the suspense, the romance, and the couple pairings. Lane and Sutton were the second chance that was needed. To go from a new couple back in college to then ghosting due to trauma, whoo wee Lane was already down bad, but he gave her the space. I'd argue that 15 years was too much space, but they were both a little hard headed in this area because hard things. 🤷‍♀️ Thankfully a little stalking turns almost deadly and Lane turns into the immediate protector for Sutton, a wise up moment if you will. If he can't have her, at least she'll be safe.

I love the glimpses we get with past characters and the upcoming ones in this series. The tight knit family of the Lawless family is absolutely the best and the group chat is always good for a few jokes between the siblings.

i am in love with this series. the thriller part mixed with romance is really a treat. i wanted lane and sutton so bad and this just felt like a warm comforting hug. no one deserves a second chance more than them. lawless family makes me happy so much, they are the bundle of joy!!
sutton and lane were everything. the way they loved each other even when people thought they hated one another. my girl was his first thought the moment he woke up, that's devotion. i loved how they didn't jump around and were clear about their intentions with each other and were working to move past the hurtful past. the way he cared about her and was so patient and this man is the definition of 'you touch her, you die'. he is really her only safe space. they are endgame in every universe of theirs. my babies. i am so excited for more of dusk valley!!

All the books in this series are perfect for romantic suspense lovers. And this one is no exception.
I found myself biting my nails longing for what would come next.
Since the previous book, where we could see all the tension between Lane and Sutton I knew this was going to be a good one. And with lane being shot and almost losing is life, it set so many things in motion to this story.

Sutton and Lane had a hidden past. And in that past a traumatic event made them appart. But with him almost losing his life made some things gain a new perspective.
We have a strong FMC, who overcomes her fears and has will of iron. And a MMC who is softer than he looks and has a heart who mels for Sutton.
They end up in danger and have to rely and trust each other and believe that their love is true.

We also have a bit of all the other Lawless brothers, and I'll be waiting for Trey's book.

Ughhh I loved this book so much. A second chance romance? Yes please.

Lane is the sheriff in town, and book 2 ends in a very scary way.. which leads us to this book.
This story showcases Lane & Sutton’s current working relationship as well as what happened years ago when they had dated.

Both work through a lot of traumatic incidents from the past, and they seem to always come back together in some way shape or form.

In true Amber fashion, this has an amazing suspense plot…. I did see the stalker coming, but there were other twists that had my head spinning!

I love a good second chance because when they realize they still have feelings for one another and the spice starts? PRICELESS.

If you loved the first two books, you will LOVE this one too!
