After a fatal accident that almost claims the life of a pedestrian, college student Alex Dorson is left broken— physically and emotionally. But the wreck is only the beginning. In the quiet aftermath of his hospital room, a voice begins whispering in his mind. A man’s voice. Cold. Demanding. Unrelenting.
At first, Alex thinks he’s losing his grip on reality. Eventually he learns the horrifying the same voice once haunted another man more than a century ago—one the world remembers only as Jack the Ripper.
Now Alex faces an impossible choice. Obey the voice and commit unthinkable acts… or resist, and let it drive him into madness. As the whispers grow stronger and he starts to push away those he loves, Alex must decide how much of himself he is willing to sacrifice to silence the evil that has chosen him.
Horrors and thrillers are my favorite genre, so I've read quite a bit of them and this one is an amazing debut from the author. It hooks you, the plot is very original from what I've seen myself, and the research that went into it is clear! It's a quick, gripping read that I'd recommend to anyone. There's little moments that stick out in a twisted tale where the normalcy of Alex hits you, and his descent is both intriguing and scary to really think about.
