Nothing kicks off the holiday season for City of Pies bakery owner Kendall Howard like celebrating with the residents and staff at Willowhaven Care Center. While the pies and other treats are a highlight, the real joy for Kendall is the special connection she has with the residents who help her keep the memory of her Gran Lottie alive, especially Gran's best friend Prudie...and a chance to see Sebastian, Prudie's hunky grandson.
When Prudie is discovered dead in her room with an unconscious maintenance man on her floor, Kendall suspects foul play. With only a trail of crumbs for leads, and the gossip mill churning—including rumors about her baked goods—Kendall is determined to prove her own innocence and help Sebastian seek justice. Can Kendall get to the bottom of things before the pie crust crumbles?
"It's cozy and mysterious and nostalgic and warm and highlights how supportive friends can show up for each other, and I think we can all use more of that." - Misty, advanced reader
"Reading this really got me into the holiday spirit!" - Bri, advanced reader
Kim Beatty loves crafting cozy stories of small town life, relatable characters, light romance, and a pinch of mystery for good measure. She lives in the Midwest with her husband, classic cars, and a quirky sense of humor. When Kim isn't writing, she can likely be found at concerts, reading way past her bedtime, or wandering the streets of Chicago which feels like a second home.
This is a lovely read. The small details we learn about the characters make them the friends you've always known. The author clearly put a bit of themselves in here. The mystery keeps y guessing until the very end. I can't wait for more!
