I received a free copy of, Forget Me Not, by Leah Cupps, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Riley Donovan is an archeologist, she thinks she has found her person, but Corbin is way to good to be true. This was an intriguing read, did not care for the characters.

3.5 ⭐️ | What a prologue! It was interesting to read a mystery about people studying archaeology! I love learning about non traditional topics & you can tell this author did their research.

Corbin & Riley begin dating after loosing their spouses! But there’s some suspicions lingering over Corbin’s wife’s (Meredith’s) death. The way this author made me doubt every single character was epic! At some point, I thought everyone had something to do with Meredith’s death! All of my theories were wrong, and this story ran deeper than I could have ever imagine. Overall a decent domestic thriller.

I would like to thank Inkubator books and Leah Cupps for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

2,5 rounded up to 3⭐ as much as I love psychological thrillers I really didn't vibe with this story or the characters.
Things just doesn't seem to be looking up for archeologist Riley, her fiance died and her career is not going anywhere. After she meets a famous Youtuber/historian Corbin who's incredibly charming and seems to be understanding of her pain, could there something be happening between them?

But nothing is what it seems, after Riley wakes up in a hotel room with a dead body beside her. How did this happen? Is this related to Corbin?

3.5 stars for me.

Archaeologist Riley Donovan trying to deal with grief after her fiancé has passed away, drinking alcohol and blackouts are now happening more often and she's supposed to write a book. Then Corbin Cross re enter her life, and the attraction she was fighting years ago come back and maybe this is her chance for something new?Years ago Corbin was her friend Meredith, boyfriend then fiancé,but she died so he knows grief and maybe they can help each other. The only thing is Meredith death looks suspicious, and it seem that Corbin may be more involved then he admitted.

Going away with Corbin may save her book deal, but when she wakes up after a fight with him Riley can't remember what happened last night. There is a dead body and Riley will be the likely suspect unless she find the killer first.

It was quick and enjoyable read, there was few twists and surprises along the way. There was not enough scary moments to call it a thriller, and the crime happened toward the end,and it was wrapped up very quickly.Mystery with a twist as who you let in your life may surprise you ,but not in a good way.My second book by this author and hope read more.

Thank you netgalley and booksprout for arc,my review is honest and my own.

First of all I picked this book because I was intrigued by the cover and the theme.

First of all this book starts with grief, raw pure pain when Riley’s fiancé dies. Her career is also going downwards.

Then she meets ( or re-meets) Corbin. He has been through the same kind of pain and she feels connected with him.

During the time their relationship is supposed to be relaxing, you expect something to happen. I was sitting on the edge of my seat, page after page. An invisible tension, hanging in the air.

The writer worked towards a climax on the end and did this very well.

I enjoyed this read and would highly recommend it!.

Thank you to Inkubator Books and Leah Cupps for the gifted NetGalley ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed “One Last Bite” by this author, partly because I’ve worked in a professional kitchen and could relate to the characters. However, I struggled to connect with the storyline and characters of this story. It was not my favorite, but I look forward to future work by this author.

An ok book but I do feel the blurb is quite misleading; the dead body being discovered happened right near the end of the book. The book was quite slow to get going and then was very rushed at the end and I feel like there needed to be more (maybe this will be in another book). There were aspects of the story that I didn’t see coming but it didn’t live up to my expectations.

As a fan of psychological thrillers, the premise of this book had me very intrigued. Riley, a former archeologist, struggling with grief and depression after the death of her fiancé from cancer, connects with Corbin, a famous Youtuber, who also lost his fiancé in a tragic accident. But when warned that the death of Corbin’s fiancé may not be as accidental as it seemed, Riley begins to question everything she thought she knew about Corbin and their relationship. When a former girlfriend of Corbin warns her that Corbin is not as nice as he seems and that his assistant is a little too present in his life, as well as her best friend Grace says he was questioned by police about his fiancé's accident, Riley begins to doubt what she thought she knew about Corbin. While on a trip with Corbin, Riley wakes up and finds a dead body in her hotel room and blood on her hands. She can’t remember a thing from the night before. Did she kill someone? And did secrets from Corbin’s past play a part?

The problem with the description is how misleading it is. The description makes it sound like the death happens relatively early in the story. It doesn’t. It happens about 80% into the book. And the wrap up after the body is discovered is kind of stilted. Riley, knowing the police will automatically suspect her, makes questionable decisions to figure out what happened the previous night, including questioning the bartender who served her drinks and bribing front desk staff to see security footage. While her mini investigation leads her to the truth, it would have been nice for this part of the book to be a little longer and more suspenseful. There’s also a twist that was revealed before the murder happened which in my opinion would have been more impactful if it was revealed after the murder.

The description also doesn’t mention this story is broken into two POV’s, Riley and Meredith, Corbin’s fiancé whose death was ruled accidental. Meredith’s POV breaks up Riley’s story into two parts. Meredith’s POV acts as a great intermission to Riley’s story while also giving us the sense that Corbin is not someone we can trust. However, I did kind of wish her part would have been longer as I enjoyed her character and would have loved to spend more time with her and her story.

Lastly, the description does not mention that Riley is an alcoholic. This detail is important as the description makes it sound like Riley can’t trust anyone because of her grief and depression. The reality is that Riley started drinking due to her grief and it spiraled to the point where she blacks out and can’t remember large chunks of time. Also, several of her interactions with other characters happen while she is drinking which sets up Riley as an unreliable narrator and makes the reader question if what we are learning from Riley is truly what is happening. While most psychological thrillers ask you to trust the narrator completely, this book does the opposite and achieves a feeling of shakiness and imbalance.

Despite the discrepancies between the description and the actual book, I quite enjoyed the story and found it to be an enjoyable read that I had a hard time putting down.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Inkubator Books for providing me with an electronic ARC. This is my honest review and the thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

My Thoughts:
Forget Me Not opens with Meredith's death, then jumps six months forward to Riley Donovan a woman drowning in grief. She's lost her husband a year prior, her best friend Meredith six months ago, and in a moment of emotional breakdown, she's torpedoed her career as an archaeology professor. Riley is stuck, isolated, and barely surviving. Riley is a character that you can easily identify with immediately as she is so wounded yet she still moves on. It is her association to Corbin that drew me in, primarily because you feel at the very beginning that something is not quite making sense. Immediately waking up besides a dead body with no recollection, the story begins to move up to the darker recesses, and left me wondering how much was being manipulated and what was real. This is a book worth reading should you like slow atmospheric thrillers that bend the truth to such an extent that they cause you discomfort. It remains with you once you have read it, and that is what I want

I've devoured quite a few of Leah Cupps's psychological thrillers, so when Zooloos Book Tours offered an advance copy, I didn't hesitate. My excitement doubled when I cracked open the first pages and discovered the story centered on archaeology , a subject that feels like home to me. Growing up, my house was split between my dad's Indiana Jones marathons and my mum's obsession with The Mummy and National Treasure. Adventure, ancient mysteries, and a dash of danger? That's my comfort zone.

Enter Corbin Cross, a fellow YouTuber archaeologist with a complicated connection to Riley's past. He was Meredith's fiancé, and before life got messy, Riley harbored a massive crush on him. When her friend Grace scores tickets to his lecture, sparks fly. Riley and Corbin tumble into a whirlwind romance built on shared grief and a joint archaeological expedition to Guatemala.

But and there's always a but in a psychological thriller Corbin's hiding something. When Riley uncovers his secret, she's forced to wonder: will she meet the same fate as Meredith? Or is someone else watching, waiting to make Corbin pay for his sins? (Side note: I couldn't help but think of that iconic Shortland Street line: "You're not in Guatemala now, Doctor Ropata!")

Here's my struggle: while the archaeology backdrop was fascinating and Leah Cupps's writing remains solid, Forget Me Not didn't quite reach the heights of her previous work for me. That said, history buffs and thriller fans will still find plenty to enjoy especially if you love stories that blend academic intrigue with psychological suspense.

2.75/5 ⭐️ (rounded up)

TW: alcohol abuse, grief

Lmao so… I finished this in one sitting because I’m impatient and need to know what the hell is going on at all times.

First - LET ME PREFACE BY SAYING THAT BY NO MEANS AM I UNDERMINING THE SERIOUSNESS OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE!!! It is a very real and terrible thing. But Riley’s addiction to alcohol is being drilled into the reader a little too hard. It was repetitive, and I was over it - I just don’t feel the need to be reminded of it every 3 paragraphs. It felt like it was being inserted into every single situation and thought when it didn’t need to be.

NEOWWW the way this book is being presented is COMPLETEEELY misleading. Going off the description, I expected the body to be found in the beginning and then the rest of the book kind of unfolding the pieces of what happened.

The reality is that 80% of the book is spent establishing context and background, and the final 20% is where the body is found and the who dunnit bit happens. Already, not an ideal structure. However, I feel like this could've been salvaged. If it wasn’t advertised in this way and the death wasn’t part of the description and instead a surprise to the readers, it’d be rated a lot higher. The ideas in this are great, the execution - not so much.

This wasn’t a super thrilling or gripping book, but it did what it was supposed to do. It was a mystery/thriller with a twist.

I honestly thought it was too easy and got bored towards the middle, but I will admit I got got. This wasn’t a crazy read for me but it was enough to keep me entertained and curious.

Thank you to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Leah Cupps has delivered an enthralling read with her latest novel, Forget Me Not. Upon diving into this gem, I intentionally avoided the book's description, which, as other reviewers have noted, doesn’t quite capture the depth and intrigue of the story within.

The narrative centers around Riley Donovan, an archaeologist whose life has taken a devastating turn. After the heartbreaking loss of her husband to cancer, Riley finds herself spiraling into a dark place, grappling with alcoholism that leads her to lose her job and fall behind on her long-anticipated book.

Riley’s world takes an unexpected turn when she reconnects with Corbin Cross, a charismatic YouTube star who had been engaged to Riley’s former friend, Meredith. Corbin’s enigmatic persona hints at hidden secrets that may be intricately linked to Meredith’s untimely demise, adding layers of suspense and intrigue to the narrative.

Cupps masterfully weaves a tale filled with shocking plot twists, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as Riley navigates through betrayal, grief, and the quest for truth. The unique premise and character development drew me in, compelling me to root for Riley as she fights to reclaim her life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a gripping read that offers both heart and suspense. Leah Cupps has certainly crafted a narrative that will linger long after the last page is turned.

Forget Me Not is among such psychological thrillers that sneak upon you subtly and then simply refuses to leave. The atmosphere is somber in the most positive sense, as there is a sense of sadness, uncertainty, and that queasy feeling in the back of the mind that something is not quite right. I enjoyed the fact that the story calmed me down, then gradually gripped me tighter as the situation of Riley became baffling and threatening.

The text is clean and cautious and pays more attention to the mood rather than on great shocks. The friendship with Grace provides the story with the much needed warmth as everything around Riley begins to collapse. The storyline is paced in a gradual way and I was left to doubt almost everyone.

This is a book worth reading should you like slow atmospheric thrillers that bend the truth to such an extent that they cause you discomfort. It remains with you once you have read it, and that is what I want in a psychological story.

This story follows Riley, an archaeologist still broken from her past and trying so hard to feel like herself again. When Corbin enters her life, he looks like hope and comfort. He is handsome, supportive and charming in the perfect way. It feels like a new beginning she deserves. But behind that perfect smile is a past full of unanswered questions and one dead fiancée who haunts everything.
I loved the slow shift from romance to pure tension. You can literally feel the atmosphere change with every chapter. Riley’s emotions felt so real and relatable, I just wanted to warn her and hold her tight. The writing keeps you curious all the time and the suspense hits harder whenever a new secret drops. It had me flipping pages like crazy.
The twist is sharp and satisfying, and the danger is such a thrill. I was totally hooked and loved how the book shows a brave woman fighting her way out of the darkness. It’s gripping, addictive and exactly the kind of thriller that gives you chills and excitement at the same time. Definitely a must-read if you love psychological mind games and hidden truths waiting to explode.

Forget Me Not kept me interested from the first page till the last! I really liked the plot line involving archeology. I've always been interested in storylines involving archeology subjects but also love thrillers, so this was a perfect mix of the two subjects.

The story starts off with Riley trying to keep on living her life after her fiance tragically passed away. She's having a really tough time. She ends up meeting up with Corbin. She knew him from her old friend Meredith, who also tragically passed away recently. Riley always had a little crush on him, but they were both seeing other people. They end up having coffee and really hit it off.

From there, they start dating. But then a strange woman warns her about Corbin not being who he seems. Then, her friend Grace also hears some concerning things about him and tries to warn Riley. Riley decides to keep seeing him and agrees to go on a trip with him to Guatemala. This trip is going to help her writing career and also be a great opportunity to see some amazing archeological sites. The trip does not go as planned. Strange things start happening, and Riley will learn who she can and cannot trust.

The book kept me on the edge of my seat to find out what was happening next and what was true and what wasnt. I would highly recommend this book. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

This was one of those books that get you hooked fast – first, with its burb and the promise of something different, and then with the first chapters, it sucks you in and won’t let you leave, even if life starts happening around you as you read.
It was tension-filled, but not a breakneck speed read. After all, what breakneck speed would you expect from a book where a major part of the plot is the actual backdrop of where most of the action happens? It sets the mood nicely, and creates a ahh-mazingly beautiful scenery – filled with some not overly horrible people, but with weird events caused by some weird choices people make.
It was not my typical psych thriller read. There were no real major stinky lying fishfaces, no extremely huge twists. Yet the story flowed nicely, and there was a twist after all.
Also, I’m expecting people to have issues with Riley’s (FMC) drinking and the way it’s put in the book. Some will see her as flawed and relatable, some will be triggered, some will say it’s too much and gets too much spotlight. But it’s not glamourized, it’s not normalized, and it’s – you know, feels very real. Lives tend to get like that, when they are real – messy and ugly, and hard to deal with.

Forget Me Not is a moody, psychological thriller that explores grief, obsession, and the fragile line between truth and illusion. Leah Cupps crafts a story that feels like walking through fog—beautiful, disorienting, and quietly dangerous.

Riley Donovan, an archaeologist weighed down by personal loss, is drawn into a whirlwind when she meets Corbin Cross, a charismatic YouTube historian with secrets of his own. What begins as a flicker of hope quickly spirals into a nightmare, as Riley wakes beside a dead body with no memory of how she got there.

Cupps writes with cinematic clarity and emotional restraint, letting tension build through quiet moments and subtle shifts. The friendship with Grace adds warmth and grounding, while the unraveling mystery keeps the pages turning. It’s a story about trust—how we give it, how it’s broken, and how we rebuild when everything falls apart.

Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Liane Moriarty, Forget Me Not is a slow-burning, elegantly twisted thriller that lingers long after the final page.

Y’ALL. The words “there’s a dead man in her bed” jumped off the page and had me fully buckled in from sentence one. 😳💀

Riley Donovan is drowning—grief, a crumbling archaeology career, zero will to live—and then boom, here comes Corbin Cross. Charming. Brilliant. YouTube-famous historian. Walking red flag wrapped in charisma. 🚩 When Riley steps into his world, things get weird FAST: a fiancée who supposedly fell off a cliff, timelines that don’t line up, and an assistant who is way too territorial for comfort. Like… ma’am?? 😬

The tension keeps tightening as Riley starts pulling at threads she probably shouldn’t—secrets, obsession, revenge, and that awful creeping feeling that she’s being played from all sides. The atmosphere is heavy and claustrophobic, the twists keep coming, and you’re constantly asking, who can she actually trust… including herself?

Leah Cupps’ writing is sharp, fast, and emotionally punchy—perfect for a psychological thriller that messes with your head while keeping the pages flying. Not perfect, but SO bingeable and absolutely worth the ride. 🖤📖🔥.

I picked up Forget Me Not because I'm always on the hunt for a psychological thriller that truly messes with my head, and Leah Cupps absolutely delivered. The book starts by introducing us to Riley Donovan, an archaeologist who is already at her breaking point, struggling with the loss of her fiancé and a crumbling career. I instantly felt invested in her story; she is in a fragile place, and that vulnerability makes her descent into the mystery so much more compelling.Riley's profession—literally digging up the past—is such a brilliant, chilling device for the narrative. As she starts uncovering secrets that clearly weren't meant to be found, the tension ratchets up, and I found myself questioning everything alongside her. What’s real? What’s grief? What's the secret that someone desperately wants to keep buried? This book is a dark, character-driven dive into how trauma haunts us, proving that sometimes, the past isn't just history—it's a weapon. I couldn't put it down and highly recommend it if you love a deep, twisty ride.

Forget Me Not tells the story of Riley Donovan, an archaeologist who has been broken by grief. After losing her fiancé, her career collapses, and her drinking worsens. Riley feels lost and unsure of herself.
She reconnects with Corbin Cross, a popular YouTube historian. He also carries grief and seems to understand her pain. Their bond feels healing at first. With the support of her friend Grace, Riley attempts to rebuild her life.
During a trip together, Riley wakes up in a hotel room. There is a dead body beside her. Her hands are covered in blood. She remembers nothing. The police see her as the main suspect. Riley must uncover the truth before it is too late.
The book slowly builds tension. It uses two points of view, including scenes from the past. This adds unease and doubt. Riley’s drinking makes her an unreliable narrator, which works well.
The twists are effective and emotional. The story explores trust, grief, and self-deception. It stays with the reader after the final page. This is a strong psychological thriller with depth and atmosphere.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I picked this up because the summary hooked me, a woman named Riley waking up next to a dead body? I’ve read a LOT of thrillers and I don’t think I’ve ever come across that before, so I was really excited for something different.

BUT… the dead body doesn’t actually appear until 82% into the book. I spent the whole time waiting for it, because the blurb made it sound like that was the main plot. When it finally happened, it was wrapped up in about twenty pages and honestly wasn’t that dramatic. No big whodunnit, no huge reveal, just… done. Really anticlimactic.

There are some twists in the story that I didn’t see coming, and the writing was good, but I just couldn’t enjoy them, because I was so focused on waiting for “the” moment.

I honestly think this would’ve been a much stronger read if the summary didn’t make it seem like the body in the hotel room was the whole catalyst for the book. As it stands, it’s an okay thriller, just not the one it promised to be.

This is the fifth book I've read by this author and I've loved all of them so far, so knew that this was going to be another great read.

I was instantly drawn by the colours on the front cover and the tag which sounded intriguing.

As you know, I never read blurbs before reading so these tags are all I have to go off when diving in.

This was a little slow to get going but after a few chapters I was hooked.

I wasn't really sure I liked the characters, although I did feel a little for poor Riley, who was really struggling to cope after losing her fiancé and her job - but in the circumstances, I just had the little niggle and wasn't sure who to trust.

I think that making the characters a little unlikable helps to keep us on edge and wary as the story unfolds.

I liked the twists and turns but felt these came quite a way through the book, but I was still on edge waiting to see how things were going to play out.

I'm already looking forward to what's coming next from Leah....

I loved the aspects of archeology in this book, that aspect was different to other books I've read before.

Riley, a grieving archeologist who is struggling in her career, meets a man who gives her hope for happiness - but all is not what it seems. Corbin is hiding something from her, and there are questions around the death of his previous partner.

I personally would not class this as a thriller as I didn't find it very suspense-driven - I wasn't on the edge of my seat wondering what was going on, especially for the first 40% of the book.

I enjoyed the writing style and it's an easy book to read and get into, but for me it wasn't a thrilling page turner and I found I didn't care enough about the characters to be wondering about the mysteries. It wasn't an exciting plot for me and there was quite a lot of detail around the archeological aspects of the book which didn't hugely add to the plot.

I'd also avoid reading the blurb on GoodReads if you read this book, as there is a huge spoiler there that doesn't happen until 80% of the way through the book.

Forget Me Not is a fast-paced thriller with some strong twists, but the execution felt uneven for me. The writing itself is clean and engaging, and the short chapters make it easy to fly through, but the pacing is strangely lopsided — a long, slow build that holds back the main hook until almost the end, followed by a finale that wraps up far too quickly. Character-wise, Riley is compelling on paper, but her emotional turbulence often felt exhausting rather than immersive, and Corbin’s characterization never quite settled; he spends most of the book reading as immature, only to suddenly transform into an almost impossibly perfect nice guy in the final stretch. Those shifts made it hard to stay grounded in the story. Still, the premise is unique, the twists are solid, and the writing has moments that really shine. A decent thriller overall, even if the promise of the blurb doesn’t match the actual delivery. Thank you to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

After losing her fiance and her best friend in the same period of time, Riley is struggling to recover, and not doing too well with her attempt to do so.

She gets an unexpected boost after her late best friend's partner Corbin moves to town and the two strike up a relationship on the basis of shared grief and their mutual interest in archaeology.

But although Riley chooses to disregard the rumours about how Corbin's last relationship ended, she senses sinister currents lurking beneath the surface of his success. And all too soon, Riley herself is pulled in by the riptide...

Although it had the ingredients for a good story, this book failed to hold my attention. I did not feel invested in either of the main characters, and the story line felt a little far fetched. I am sure it will find its fans, but I don't fall into that category.

Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC!

Sooo… this book really had me at the beginning. The buildup? Solid. I was fully in, no boredom in sight. It had that slow but intriguing climb... until boom ... a body shows up and suddenly we’re speed-running to the end. Like??? Oi...who stole half the plot?

The pacing felt totally off after that. What started as a promising thriller sort of fizzled. I was hoping for more tension, more mystery, more unraveling, but the “thriller” part was over before it really began.

Character-wise... I did not connect to anyone. I can't say that I liked Riley too much (and the drinking didn’t help ... it gave unreliable narrator energy), and Corbin had sooo many red flags (especially after Meredith’s POV).

Honestly? It’s not a bad book, just one that felt unfinished. With more focus on the actual mystery and Riley doing some sleuthing? This could’ve been a 5*. But as is... I think a 3* is fair.

Forget Me Not by Leah Cupps is an emotionally charged and beautifully written novel that explores themes of love, loss, and healing. The story delves into the life of Riley, capturing the raw and authentic feelings of grief and hope. Leah Cupps masterfully combines heartfelt storytelling with relatable characters, making it easy for readers to connect deeply with the narrative.

The book's pacing is well-balanced, allowing for moments of introspection as well as poignant emotional peaks. Cupps's writing style is both lyrical and accessible, drawing readers into a world that feels both intimate and universal. The themes of remembrance and moving forward are handled with sensitivity and grace, making *Forget Me Not* a compelling read for anyone who appreciates a good thriller.

Overall, *Forget Me Not* is a touching tribute to the enduring power of memory and love, leaving a lasting impression long after the final page.

This book attracted me because of its cover. It's very appealing.
Then I read the premise and became very curious, as it's very interesting.

After reading it, I can say that I liked it, however, I expected more. The cover claimed it was a psychological thriller, and I didn't think it was. It is indeed a story with a lot of mystery, and undoubtedly captivating, but the supposed twist was very predictable. At least for me.

I read many thrillers, so I always have a very high standard. I think it's the perfect book for those starting out in thriller reading.

As for the author's writing, I have nothing to criticize. She has a style that captivates the reader, and that's good.

Overall, I conclude that it's an enjoyable book, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to start reading thrillers. If you're the type of reader who wants your head to explode with a terrifying twist, then this book isn't for you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ — A Solid Read With Uneven Pacing

This book was a bit of a mixed experience for me. The story starts off slowly and takes its time getting moving, causing it to be hard to fully settle into the plot at first. Even once things picked up, the pacing remained leisurely all the way to the final chapters—only for the ending to feel surprisingly rushed, as if everything was suddenly wrapped up in a hurry.

Despite the uneven pacing, I still found the book enjoyable. The author’s writing has a charm to it, and there were enough intriguing moments and I thoroughly enjoyed the history elements to the book. While this particular story didn’t quite land its conclusion personally for me, I’m still interested in exploring more of the author’s work and would happily read another book by them.
