Dokja has been able to step one step ahead in the apocalypse thanks to his knowledge of TWSA, but what if he were to lose that advantage? In the next scenario, he must contend with others like himself—readers! The so-called “Oracles” pose a greater threat than anything Dokja has faced so far, and the most dangerous of all is their leader, a shadowy mastermind pulling the strings behind the scenes, who seems to know too much to be an ordinary reader…
Im dnfing this series for now because i dont really like the format of it. I feel like I'm just not understanding what people love about this so im welcome to any input as to why any of you liked it.
Survival continues for Kim Dokja and party. Taking over different stations to survive the 4th scenario for The King’s Path. Dokja discovers he isn’t the only Reader of Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse but he is the only one to have completed it. He continues to grow his party using tricks and smarts including impersonating the protagonist Joonghyuk Yoo. What could go wrong?
I know that it is all about strategies to survive in this imaginative world. However, I still feel extremely sad when I have to accept the fact that violence is an important part of human nature.
I'm impatient for the next book now. This series is like if someone read dungeon crawler Carl and then it happened in real life and they were like "well I know how it ends and what Carl should've done so I'll try to do that" and then it changes the story. I think it's estimated to be 10 English volumes and the manwa is ahead of the novel right now.
this series really needs to be adapted into an anime, I want to see it have a one piece level adaptation, I just know the author had to have made an insane world map to keep track of all the characters and places and factions
despite the ever growing number of characters and twist, this book is astonishingly easy to follow. that could possibly be bc I read it in one sitting and didn't have an interval to forgot anyone lol
read the whole thing as the webnovel online, so i cant say much to the single volume or the translation.. but ORV as a whole is a great story, packing great story telling, emotions and action! (tho changing the word 'Dokkaebi' in the physical release is kinda dumb..)
Biased as hell bc I’m already a fan but this is one of my favorite early arcs so I had a great time. It’s hard to cut up web novels into physical books bc it’s not as standard in where a book should begin or end - ORV suffers from that too in the physical books; the beginning of this book just picks right up from the end of the last but if you can’t remember what happened then im sure it can be a struggle. The end of this book, however, had a perfect stop point.
Instead of just creating random characters, the choice to use figures readers would know (historical figures, mythical figures, etc), ORV educates its readers and increases the emotional investment. This strength shines greatly in this particular arc.
Some stories like this is boring bc the MC seems OP and what’s the point? But ORV does such a good job of making you feel like - yes dokja is OP but by his knowledge - but he can fail.
I will continue to be obsessed with these books forever. I just think Kim Dokja is a perfect main character. I love him so much. Overall this book was quite fun. We moved along a good bit in the story now that we have our main Dokja crew and main Joonghyuk (or however you want to romanize his name) crew so that allowed us to push the story forward a bit more. I did love that we finally got Han Sooyung in this book! I've been waiting for her to show up (I say like I haven't at least read the original first volume before). Overall an exciting read. I can't wait to keep following Dokja on all of his adventures until the very end.
The mystery is so great. I am loving this story. Sadly I know that this is barely the start of the whole story. But I like the translation and its easy to follow. I am considering if I should see if there is any other translations out there, but I also know it will be harder to read.
I dont say this translation is the best there ever was but it is consistent and I imagine i would have a hard time learning another translators flow of writing.
Will keep this on the lookout. Just a warning for the rest of you that it will probably be more than 5 (or even 10) volumes for this story to finish.
I would act out too if a bunch of strangers doubted my being while altering a monumental life-or-death task, right after the guy I keep bickering with makes your drama everyone else’s problem. You’re so real for that, Dokja.
On a more serious note (spoilers from here on) this volume really starts to dive into the very interesting conversation of who/what is a part of the story. Not to mention, the title King of a Kingless World is filled with so much meaning, it makes me anticipate the upcoming scenarios with a sense of anticipation despite knowing what comes next.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I love ORV and I remember the feeling of reading the last part of this novel in the webcomic - sooo good! I just feel like NOW we're really cooking! The capture the stations ft oracles part was just an okay scenario to me, but with, of course, some really interesting developments 👀 but what follows is really great! I'm really looking forward to the next book!
ONE OF MY FAVORITE ARCS KING OF KINGLESS WORLD IS HERE
blurry face kim dokja. funny as hell secretive plotter scoffing at the poor historical constellations and donating money just to show off. the action!!! the final scene is so good it gives me chills.
i think king of kingless world being kdj's first fable being a thesis of his character is so good. ah... this guy...
I'm really getting some great Dungeon Crawler Carl vibes off of this one. The art is still fantastic, but the unexpected humor goes really well with the truly dark themes. You know, like DCC. But unlike DCC, there's a pretty excellent balance of craftiness, gore, and forethought in this one.
This volume brought the chaos as always, revealing a lot of interesting plot points. Having no grasp of Korean historical figures, I'm unsure if the scenario would have been even cooler knowing some of the real world inspiration for the constellations, but I had fun regardless. It's fun following Dokja as he cares for his crew and plots for their survival, using his cunning Reader's knowledge.
I had to put this down for a little bit because I wasn't in the mood. Plus, for some reason I wasn't vibing with it. Though, after the first episode, I was completely sucked in! And we got some big reveals this installment 🤭
I think it’s still quite early in the whole story that everything still feels lukewarm for me. It’s actually a very easy reading but it’s hard for me to stay and read the whole thing. However, Dokja is still a very interesting character nevertheless. I need to reach the main part of the story soon.
taking a day off just to binge-read the 3rd volume? it feels illegal, but is so legal. also feels like a filler episode cuz there was little to no action involving my queens, Huiwon and Jihye, hopefully they get more attention in the volumes to come.
An amazing book that lived up to its potential. It was interesting and Dokja is a relatable character for readers who loved a similar life to him before his book became a reality. An amazing story and I can’t wait for July 21 for book 4
