Fate brought them together. Choice will decide what comes next.
When Sloan McKinnon is sent to Stone Mountain for her own protection, the last thing she wants is to be part of another pack or to meet a boy who makes her heart remember what it's like to hope again.
Dax never expected to find his fated mate, especially not the wary girl who looks at him like she's ready to run. But the bond between them is impossible to ignore, and danger in the mountains is growing stronger by the day.
As secrets unravel and trust is tested, Sloan must decide whether to fight the pull of destiny or embrace the love that's been waiting for her all along.
In a world of hidden wolves and haunting choices, sometimes love is the bravest kind of magic. A clean, slow-burn YA paranormal romance filled with destiny, courage, and heart.
So this set of books was my "airport " reading. You know the kind, one easily picked up and put down as needed w/o losing any momentum in the story. Each of the books characters solve different set of problems to be together and King makes a big effort to show they choose their mates, even after they bond. So that's a plus. It was nice and simplistic, definitely targeted to YA fiction. I'd give the books 2 1/2 stars if I could b/c of all the unanswered questions. For example we never get a clear answer in book 1 or 2 on why Maya's mother leaves her former pack or why she chooses to come back to Stone Mountain. Bolton says, it's her story to tell, like he possibly knows but he never tells the reader and neither does Mom. In book 3, I guess we're suppose to forget that Kade lead the rouge attack and just move forward with him wanting asylum from his old pack. And what happens with the other captured wolves? Maybe I missed that part while I was rustling luggage. Any way, they were good enough to finish the set but now I'm home.. I'm more choosy.
