A well-researched volume with a plethora of historical facts. Interesting and informative. Second to studying the events in the Bible, this was a good overview of the life and death of Jesus, the Messiah.

Is it weird I wanted more facts about that time? I love the Gospels and believe that they are all factual and like that he references them but he is very selective on what he considers facts. A quick read and learned things of that time period I’d never even thought of. Life then and now are not much different. Satan tries a meriod of ways to get a hold of good things. I do hate how he got a hold of such prominent men. Their was good in all of them, he finds ways to strip that. 🫤 So glad we have the Savior to have as an example of good, that when satan tried to strip our goodness he can bring it back stronger then ever. He can make us much better then we ever could be. I love Him. Know he was real. Want to learn more of him. Thanks for the book.

A very easy read, and a book one could start and finish in a day or two. The authors perform their due diligence in adhering strictly to the historical Jesus. I would have enjoyed seeing more of the Christian beliefs mixed in to the research and story line, but I respect and honor the authors for the book as written. However one may view Christianity, a reading of this book won't violate the conscience. It is a worth-while read.

I thought this was an excellent timeline of Jesus' death according to the Bible. Legends and other related information are also discussed but clearly identified as being "extra". If you're wanting to just know how the timeline of Jesus' death progressed with religious matters gently set aside, this is a good work to read for it.

This book was quite interesting, giving another perspective of the life of Jesus, and events leading to his death. I could visualize life back then compared to life in present day. There are a lot if differences and similarities. Reading this book just makes me want to strive to be a better person.

I love reading about historical, biblical times. I’ve not read the other titles from these Authors — killing Patton, or killing Kennedy but heard good things so may read those too. This book was relatively quick and filled in many details about Roman and Jewish life. I enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed the book but I did not agree with what he said about the Apostle John the Beloved or John the Revelator (same person). He did not provide any documentation for his statement that John died in Ephesus at age 94 on page 264. Bill O'Reilly indicated John died but the truth is he was allowed to tarry and did not die (John 21:20-24 KJV). He is the only one of the original apostles who did not die a martyr's death, (aside from Judas Iscariot's hanging himself from a tree) but was translated so he would not taste of death and was allowed to continue to spread the gospel.

On page 252, the "exactor mortis" thrust a spear into Jesus's chest to verify death, but I remember messianic scripture stating a spear was thrust into His side, not his chest. I wish Mr. O'Reilly had done a better job of citing scripture such as the scripture on page 159--"These people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men." I believe this is a reference to Isaiah 29:13. There are many different Bible translations. Mr. O'Reilly chose Zondervan's New International Version Study Bible when he quoted scripture. The NIV bible has an evangelical bias, but he mentioned that it provided "detailed sidebars about everything from the height of the Temple to a timeline depicting Jesus's ministry."

I thought this was an excellent book & I enjoyed reading about the history that either I had forgotten or never knew!
I think I found two discrepancies from the author when he stated Jesus was 36 years old at time of death but I was under the impression Jesus was 33 years old & also he stated women were highly regarded but I thought women in the Bible days were not.
Bottom line for me is I am Glad I am a Christian & that Jesus Christ provided a way for me to live in Heaven Eternally!!!

Comprehensive

This as good as Cliff Notes get. A chapter by chapter review, there are discussion questions and important terms covered in each summary. My only complaint is that the original advertisement doesn't make it clear it is NOT the book, but a review. But, that is my mistake for not realizing the difference in pricing!

I read this book during lent a few years ago. For me it was a great time to reflect and read about the ministry of Jesus. The author gave a very detailed and thorough explanation of the culture, religious practices, corruption and the constraint caused by the traditions and ritual required of the Jewish People of that era. Reading this book helped me realize that Jesus was born at the perfect the time, his birth was surely perfectly planned by God. Reading this book gave me a greater understanding of God's plan for his people and the profound, "supernatural " effect that the man from Nazareth had on the world. Reading this book has helped me understand the parables in the New Testament at a level that I did not comprehend before.
