Enjoy book one in a new series within The Lyon's Den Connected world by Regina Jeffers.
Book 1 - Lyon in the Way Book 2 - Lyon’s Obsession Book 3 - Lyon in Disguise Book 4 - Lost in the Lyon’s Garden Book 5 - Lyon on the Inside
Regina Jeffers, an award-winning author of historical cozy mysteries, Austenesque sequels and retellings, as well as Regency era romances, has worn many hats over her lifetime: daughter, student, military brat, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, tax preparer, journalist, choreographer, Broadway dancer, theatre director, history buff, grant writer, media literacy consultant, and author. Living outside of Charlotte, NC, Jeffers writes novels that take the ordinary and adds a bit of mayhem, while mastering tension in her own life with a bit of gardening and the exuberance of her “grand joys.”
Mrs. Dove-Lyon makes brief appearances, but no matchmaking in this one. A lot of family dynamics and political turmoil. Contains verbal abuse and attempted murders. It's still a love story of a young woman finding out her real identity, and a family she never knew she had. A longer read than most books in the series. Kissing only. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Lyon in Disguise by Regina Jeffers is a part of the Lyon’s Den Connected World. Lord Navan Beauford was both a Scottish Earl and an English Earl. He was also an orphan and had been taken in as a twelve-year-old boy and raised with five other boys and Lord Duncan’s natural daughter, Theodora. His parents had been murdered. Duncan was a government agent as were his six “sons.” They were currently investigating a French man called Lord Honfleur, although in reality he was an Englishman known as Jacobi Moran. He had a daughter, Caroline, and a niece called “Audrey.” He was renting a house for the season so he could do whatever he was going to do as well as find a rich lord for his daughter to marry. This is not about Mrs. Dove-Lyon matchmaking, but rather about the fact that she saved Lord Duncan’s life and that of Audrey as well when they were shot in separate incidents outside her gambling den. She also cooperated with them when Moran’s scheme was determined to be counterfeiting and he and his daughter were passing bills at he establishment.
Navan became enamored of “Audrey” when he was watching the home they had rented. He knew eventually he would have to marry and have children, but he was not ready. Yet, the more she watched “Audrey,” the more he fell in love. “Audrey” had not lead a happy life, and yet she was grateful she was not on the streets. Navan started as a friend who brought her food when she had been left alone by her uncle. She, also, became enamored, but thought she had no chance as he was not only an earl but also handsome as all get out. Both endearing characters that worked their way through multiple problems until they were able to embrace their happily-ever-after. Good book; one with a plot. It moved fast but it was fun.
I was invited to read Lyon in Disguise by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #ReginaJeffers #LyonInDisguise
Lord Navan Beaufort never dreamed he would fall in love with any woman, let alone a seductive woman who is an enemy. From the moment Navan lays eyes on Miss Audrey Moreau at a ball, he’s enchanted. Yet she’s the niece of her uncle and Navan doesn’t know her game, yet. All that changes when he saves her from a fire. As they work through a complex web of lies, betrayal, spies, subterfuge, kisses, and passion, love unites their hearts. Can Navan make Audrey his beloved or will she betray him?
Lyon in Disguise is a historical romance with suspense, intrigue, danger, and intoxicating romance. The hero may be a rake, but his true self is much more reserved. His understated personality reminds me of a Mr. Darcy with a huge splash of mystery. Audrey is a heroine who has gone through so much in her lifetime. Her strength in the face of adversity impressed me. These two characters have much to go through, both apart and together. Love binds them together in the best possible way. These characters are what makes Lyon in Disguise an unputdownable read.
This tale is book three in a series by Regina Jeffers. Each book replays the same scene but through the eyes of a different hero. While this might seem repetitive, I found it a great way to get to know the hero. Fans of The Lyon’s Den series by Dragonblade Publishing will love Lyon in Disguise. The writing is immersive. The descriptive narration pulls the reader into the story. While there is a cliffhanger ending, it only whets the appetite for what comes next.
This book ends on a click hanger which as long as it was I could not like! We have Miss Audrey Moreau aka Annalise who has been mislead and mistreated most of her life! She has been sheltered by her uncle and his “daughter” Caroline! She is treated like a servant except on one occasion at a masquerade where she meets Lord Navan Beaufort. Naval is instantly smitten but is very reserved with his feelings he has brothers he has acquired thru Lord Duncan! They work in service to the crown! Annalise has several secrets and they become known not only to her but also to Navan! It is not clear but Lord Navan’s intentions would have been if not for the the truth of who Annalise identity was and is! There are several players in this story along of course with Mrs Bessie Lyons assistance more than once in aiding Annalise! This in itself is unusual! Once Mrs Bessie introduces a couple then she does not make anymore appearances! Annalise is resilient, beautiful extremely hardworking and resourceful even when fighting back her greatest fears of abandonment! At first I could not like Lord Navan but he proves himself a protector and a faithful man! This story has many moving parts including stopping traitors with false currency among others! Somewhere in all of this is a love affair that blooms even without water at times! I would love to see hope for Lord Graham also needs a story even if it involves a trip to the Lyons den! Bravo well done! I received an ARC copy from Netgalley for my unbiased review!
This is book #3 in a new series by Regina Jeffers within the Lyon’s Den Connected World series. I highly recommend reading this series in book order. The main mystery of who shoots Lord Duncan starts in book #1 and continues with hints of who did it in each of the following books.
I also want to point out that this book is interconnected to book #2 as it does repeat some of the scenes from the previous book but from Lord Beaufort point of view.
I was really looking forward to Beaufort and Annalise story since I got a glimpse of it in the previous book and I was definitely not disappointed. I absolutely loved their story!! I liked how they both were able to move passed their past and actually open their hearts to each. I enjoyed reading this book from Beaufort’s point of view even with some of the scenes being repeated from the previous book. It helped with explaining Beaufort and Annalise’s romance more thoroughly since we only got a glimpse of it in the previous book. The book is well written and keeps the story flowing without dragging. As with the previous two books the book does not cliff hang the romance between the two main characters, but the main mystery of who shot Lord Duncan is still not resolved but I feel that we are getting closer to finding out who is behind the shooting. I truly love this series and look forward to the next book in it!! I highly recommend this book!!
I enjoyed the story of Annalise and Navan. This story was a continuation of a series with the Lyon’s Den Connected series. Each of the stories represents the same story from different perspectives so it gives you more details on certain characters’ lives. I like the familiarity of some of the side characters, but some issues seem repetitive when you have read the other stories. This was a closed door friends to lovers marriage of convenience, or so they thought. It was really about love and not convenience, but they both hadn’t realized how much they cared in the beginning. The relationship was very complex. The friendship showed how their feelings grew for one another, but they also had to endure outside forces and insecurities before they got to the real depth of their love. There were moments of close proximity but also periods of separation. There was danger, shootings, villains, neglectful family, aging family members with dementia, reunions of long lost family, a temporary HEA, and a potential killer still out for revenge. That may be the one drawback for me. I don’t like to keep reading several stories that seem to have the same villain that continues to escape being caught/revealed.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Net Galley and am voluntarily leaving this review
It amazes me how an author can keep a thread going through a series of books, looking at the same situation by different people. Such as is the case here. Annalise has had a hard life, only being worsened by the so called “uncle” who “saved” her. I loved how the author portrayed her sense of abandonment over so many people she dearly loved. Navan was so fun watching him watching her and realizing she MUST be in his world. Though I could see he was between a rock and a hard place with Annalise and his grandmother, I was rather angry at how he treated her. I enjoyed being a fly on the wall as we lived some of their experiences that we don’t normally see in Regency Romance. The villain was expected, just not WHO that was- well hidden and a true shock to me. Some parts dragged on , saying the same things over and over, but overall a very good story filled with love, adventure and some heartache. Would have loved to have known what Dora’s problem really was with Annalise-that made little sense, but maybe answered elsewhere. No crass language (thank you author), very light romantic scenes and a “slight cliff hanger “ ending.
I received this story for free and these are my own views.
Lord Navan Beaufort is one of Duncan’s boys they are tasked with averting a threat to the crown, which brings him into contact with Miss Audrey Moreau. Navan has never thought truly to love anyone, but when he laid eyes on the red-headed beauty, his world shifted. Miss Audrey Moreau depends exclusively on her Uncle Jacobi for a home and protection. The man rescued her from a bayman’s plantation in the West Indies when she was five; yet, she well knows the “Marquis of Honfleur’s” schemes. Whilst this is part of the Lyon’s Den world it’s also part of a series about the sons of Lord Duncan – a group of adopted young peers who the Duncan’s rescued & raised. This is the third book & we see the situation from Navan & Audrey’s point of view, so the events in the beginning have been covered before, so there’s quite a bit of repetition. I really liked both Navan & Audrey / Annalise but Navan did annoy me at times with his treatment of his lady. I did enjoy the book, which was a mix of romance, mystery & adventure. I look forward to the rest of the boys having their stories I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
I was a little confused as I started reading this. But I soon realised it is part of a series and I had read the previous book in the series which covers some very similar scenarios. That one was about the man who turns out to be our heroine's brother. He also has grown up with our hero. So naturally there was crossover. This book goes in a different direction after a while and is very emotional. I loved our heroine, she has come a long way in her troubled life. There are a lot of problems going on in the country that affect our characters lives and those who love or hate them. Good fun.
Too many characters, too many twists to the storyline, too many distractions to be able to read the book without rereading pages to follow the storyline or to enjoy the book. Not Regina Jeffers best work as even the ending alluded to even another character and twist which did not relate to this storyline.
Thank you NetGalley. This is part of a series and may confuse you at first as I thought I had read it before but it just starts the same. In this story Audrey is finally having her life come together, Even if you haven't read the first books in the series you should read this one and catch up with the other stories. I don't want give anything away so I will stop here and only say "enjoy".
Sadly I did not enjoy this the story was confusing with lots of references to what appeared to be separate stories with no detail the characters we also not likeable they seemed all to be selfish and concerned only with themselves Thanks to Netgalley and Dragonblade for my arc copy
A good love story with a nice plot and characters. Sadly, what makes the series a higher rating is Mrs. Dove-Lyon's matchmaking skills but this story didn't include it. Still a good read with fully entertaining and enjoyable characters.
