Five years ago, Ceciley Knoxs killed her abusive husband, disappearing without a trace. With the new identity of Lane Maddox she moves to the small town of New Haven to build a new life. Lane has everything she could ever want to be happy. She has friends, a job, her freedom. She swore off relationships, until a gorgeous stranger walks into her bar. Can she open up to him while keeping her secrets? Or will her secrets catch up to her?
Jameson Crowe is a PI hired by a mysterious client to track down Ceciley Knox. A woman who shot her husband and vanished five years ago. He tracks her down to a small town in Western Pennsylvania, where she is living a new life as Lane Maddox. He can't believe the sweet and sassy bartender is the same cold-blooded woman who shot her husband. After finding out why she really shot her husband, he decides to never let anyone hurt her again. Can he find a way to keep Lane's new identity a secret from his client? Can he tell Lane who he really is without losing her forever?
❤️secret identity ❤️touch her and 🔪 ❤️pierced MMC ❤️found family ❤️forced proximity ❤️dual POV ❤️trauma/abuse
I had the privilege of getting to Beta/Arc read this authors debut novel and it did not disappoint. This was such an emotional suspenseful story. It had an amazing storyline and great character growth and change throughout. It just drew you into the characters because they were so relatable.
We follow our FMC Lane who has a secret past and an abusive relationship who has changed her identity and started a new life in a quiet little town bartending. I loved her strength and survivor mentality. She had lived through something traumatic but didn’t let it break her. Life is good and quiet for her until one day a mysterious sexy man walks into her bar!!
Hello MMC Mr Jameson Crowe our tatted up man candy private investigator hires to track down none other than lane herself. The bad ass who will unalive you in a min, at the same time send you flowers and good morning text every morning and cook you amazing meals. I mean win win ladies.
The connection and chemistry between the two mc was just mmmmm can we say sexual tension please and thank you. Lane best friend Kam was absolutely amazing loved her so much she is the definition of a ride or die bestie. The spice was just delicious and just the right amount to not take away from the story. All and all a great read can’t wait for the next one.
This book was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. So beautifully written, with the perfect combination of curiosity (what was going to happen) & compassion (the tenderness of the love that developed between the characters). This “story” tells a story- about a woman who faced domestic abuse and dared to make a stand and free herself from the torture and pain she experienced. She found her new life turned upside down by this mystery man, who went to great lengths to protect her and help her heal a heart he didn’t break so that she could see herself having the life she deserved to have. A life all women who have endured this in their lifetime, deserve to have. I’m speechless at how eloquent and subtle the story came together. I could not stop reading it. If I could give it 10 stars I would.
I’m so proud of my hometown friend, for writing her first novel and following her dream. Wow. I really am blown away by how enchanting this book was.
Ahhh. I loved this book so much! Everything about it was written wonderfully. The plot was well written and executed. The characters and their development throughout the book was astounding. The spice, was the perfect amount and spicy. Once I started this, I could not put it down! Lona Lee, outdid herself with her debut novel and I can not wait for book two to come out! You get a touch of dark romance, mixed with suspense and thriller, and the banter among the characters is awesome as well. There’s so much I could say, but I don’t want to give anything away, so just read the book, and see for yourself!

This book is an amazing read! I do want to say. Check your trigger warnings. This does have sensitive content.
I feel this is dark romance but also a bit of a thriller. You following the story and journey of Lane. I don’t want to give many details to ruin the book. The story speaks for itself. Just give it a chance!!!!
❤️🔥❤️🔥 - Plot. Very good plot. Easy flow. Easy to follow.
❤️🔥❤️🔥 - Characters. Great character growth and connections. I felt like I was part of the relationship. Whether it was a best friend or one of the guys.
❤️🔥❤️🔥 - Spice. This has enough spice to keep you happy! Good girl kink, do you like it? Because that is a for sure thing in this book.
Lona creates a vivid, immersive world you can’t help but dive into. Once you start this book, you won’t want to put it down. It’s a suspenseful romance with sensitive themes, so be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading. The story and its characters are incredibly relatable—you’ll feel their emotions, try to solve the mystery, and eagerly turn the pages to see what happens next.
Lane is the FMC of the story—a woman who has survived an abusive past and carries secrets she’s determined to keep buried. She isn’t your typical FMC; she’s layered, resilient, and deeply human. After moving to a small town, she builds a quiet life for herself. She’s strong yet soft, vulnerable yet determined, and you’ll find yourself cheering her on from beginning to end.
Jameson Crowe is the MMC—mysterious, tattooed, a private investigator, and absolutely eye candy. He’s powerful, giving off the impression that he could snap someone in half with a flick of his wrist, but his character runs far deeper than his intimidating exterior. And ladies… he does not disappoint.
A special shout-out goes to the FMC’s best friend, everyone needs a Kam in their life if they don’t already have one.
Lane believes she’s safe and her past is firmly buried, but when a mysterious stranger shows up in town, her world is turned upside down. Jameson arrives with one purpose, never expecting what he would discover. The past never stays buried, especially when someone is determined to uncover it. While the book has some dark themes, I wouldn’t label it a dark romance. It blends suspense and thriller elements with just the right amount of spice.
You’ll feel every emotion in this book. Lona leaves you both fulfilled and wanting more!
I read the first two chapters on KU and then IMMEDIATELY went and bought the physical copy. I just knew I needed to have this one on my shelf.
This isn't your typical, boring, fluffy romance. While you get all of the spice and swoonworthy MMC energy that you're looking for, this book is more than that.
Chasing Wildflowers is a brave, heartfelt story of survival, healing, and love that's stronger than fear. It doesn't shy away from the harsh reality of DV, the stakes, the intense emotions. It doesn't shy away from the gritty journey of freeing yourself.
This book feels important and you really should read it. I can’t wait to see what book two has in store!
I was nervous going into this thinking that this was going to be similar to other books I have read and I didn’t want that. To say my expectations were met and then some would be an understatement! I love love loved this book and it definitely pulled at my heart strings at times. I definitely need a Jameson in my life!!
Absolutely captivating debut novel From the first chapter, I was hooked and truly couldn’t put it down. The writing is emotional, vivid, and beautifully paced, and the characters stayed with me long after I finished.
Some books don’t just tell a story, they reach in, cup your heart in both hands, and whisper, “Feel this.”
Chasing Wildflowers is one of those quiet miracles. Lona Lee weaves a tale that builds slowly and beautifully. Her prose is soft but powerful, and grounded in emotion that's layered with hope. This book breathes, and by the end, you find yourself breathing with it.
The characters feel achingly real. They're flawed, tender, trying their best in a world that hasn’t always been kind, and there’s a gentleness to their journeys. They have emotional honesty that makes you want to hold their hands as they navigate love, loss, and what it means to start again. Some scenes hit with the force of a memory you didn’t know you’d been keeping, while others glow with such joy you feel lit from within.
Let's talk setting. Lona Lee paints landscapes in a way that makes you want to step inside the page and stay awhile. It’s immersive and wildly romantic.
Do pay attention to triggers. This is a story about healing. Also, finding beauty in broken places. Letting yourself bloom even when it feels impossible.
If you love stories that mend you while they move you, or romances that root themselves deeply and grow into something breathtaking, then Chasing Wildflowers belongs on your shelf, in your hands, and in your heart. You will love this book!
Chasing Wildflowers is a beautifully written exploration of love, loss, and personal growth, set against the backdrop of nature’s quiet healing power. Lona Lee’s prose is lyrical and evocative, painting the landscapes in vivid colors and capturing the essence of the wildflowers that metaphorically thread through the narrative.
The novel follows the journey of its protagonist, who embarks on a soul-searching adventure to reconnect with herself after a period of hardship. The way Lee integrates themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the restorative power of the natural world is both poignant and inspiring. The character development is deep and relatable, with each of the main players feeling genuine and well-rounded.
🥵🌶🥵🌶😍 Absolutely delicious! I will be Jameson's wildflower without fail! Such an amazing story; spicy, great characters, rebuilding a new life that leads to what the FMC NEEDED. Oh, SO much 🌶 smut, dark touch her and ☠️ vibes 🥵 so much more to be said but not without spoiler. An ABSOLUTELY MUST ADD TO TBR 💖
