Oakland Jones is no stranger to tough times. He spent the last five years just getting by, taking care of his sister Juni, with help from his ride-or-die Makayla. When the three of them tripped into the world of The Court, suddenly his life became full of possibilities. College, new friends, Magic, and maybe even a harmless crush on an aristocratic leader. But catching the eye of another member of The Court; is it all more than he can handle?
Beckett Lewis is a dark horse even among the shadowy world of The Court. He knows what he wants though. From the moment he met them, he knew. Nothing is going to stop him from having what fate has decided is his. Not Oakland's shyness. Not a stubborn Count. Not even the things he doesn't know about himself.
The Count is the Boss of the Court, and Elric Black has long used his responsibility to his Family as both a goal and a shield. As feelings start to stir, passions he thought long dead rise to the surface, dragging old ghosts with them. Can the stern protector juggle new relationships, his role as the Count, and a villain hiding in the wings?
When The Monster becomes a threat to the whole Court, will they lose everything they've fought for? Or will they find a strength inside themselves, and together, that they never knew they could?
Return to the fictional city of Norwesur, Virginia, in the fourth book of The Court series. These books are stand-alone Romances with their own HEAs but it’s advised to read them in order for the overarching world-building.
Black Night Falls is an 105,000+ word Urban Fantasy with a shadowy Mafia twist.
Shaye Torrel has always loved to make believe. Reading was an extension of that, an opportunity to imagine hundreds of different people and places. As a teenager she discovered that by writing she too could create windows into other worlds, letting all the imaginary people out of her brain and onto paper. But life happened and her writing was shelved for Someday. After a brush with her mortality, Shaye realised there is no Someday, only Today. So now she is happily pursuing her dream of being an author with the loving support of her partner, The Tradie, and their four legged fur-baby. Shaye lives in the South Island of New Zealand, likes iced almond milk chai and reads whenever she can.
Loved, loved this book. It feels like I’ve been waiting forever for it. It had me up until the early hours reading and do you know how hard it is to stop your sniffles and not wake your husband up when your blubbing? It’s hard. This book gave me all the feels. These three really take you on a journey. Although I have to admit I was ready to knock The Count upside his head. But when he finally got his head out of his arse it was perfect. Becket may be my new favourite….sigh. If you haven’t read the other books you need to go and do that. They are all so amazing. Shaye Torrel is a talented author that always take me on journeys that end up with massive book hangovers.
I keep telling people about this series. It is incredible! Absolutely, without question.
When I'm asked to briefly describe it all I can say is it's a paranormal/romantasy/mafia story where the mafia are the good guys. The writing is exquisite. The characters and stories are top notch. And there are witches, and shifters, and vampires, and wolfkin, and ... well, it's got everything you could want. And more.
I cannot recommend this series strongly enough to you.
I can't get enough of these books, I wish there were more!! The characters and the world are just something you want to be apart of and I know I will pick up these books to read over and over again.
