I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This story begins with Jason in Vietnam meeting with a source. He learns that there is some sort of bioweapon in process. He learns that it is currently located in Tibet. Jason travels to Tibet and tries to locate the weapon. He gets involved with a group of Tibetan patriots and eventually becomes a captive. He eventually learns of a plan that a group wants to use the bioweapon in a coup. Jason is injected with the bioweapon and told that if he was to continue living, then he needs to do what they tell him.
Follow Jason as he manages to evade people trying to make him do something that he doesn't want to do. Read the exciting conclusion where Jason and Kane, a Brit working with Jason work to upset the group's plan. Discover how Jason was impacted with the virus and how it took all he was able to do in order to upset the group's plan.
The story will definitely keep your interest and is well worth the read. Don't miss out!
I liked it. Good action. Neat trick making Jason weak enough to allow the bad guys (and gals) to have a shot at him.
Only problem I had was keeping the Chinese characters straight. The plot was complex enough but it became clear that by propping up a doddering, corrupt current president, CIA/USA would prevent the hardliners from a coup.
Some of the action was hard to follow for me. Perhaps others like the hallways and cliffs and caves that dot the pathways but it's a bit distracting for me without really drawing a useful mental picture.
I like Trapp's friends and allies plus a little humor from Kane and loyalty from Ren. Also, good sensitivity spotting Linn as a possible turn once the Tibet fraud was revealed.
If you know Jason, you know there is going to be a lot of excitement. This time it could be fatal. He is in Tibet as a "tourist" to track down a bioweapon that some rebels plan to use to depose the president of China while blaming the United States. Tis is one of those stories where the good guys might be bad guys, bad guys might be good guys and good guys could be bad guys who are really good guys. Jason gets injected with the bioweapon, but escapes. Now he has 48 hours to stop the threat and find the person who has the antidot.
Another good read. Jason finds himself, once more, in the thick of things, trying to stop an international coup in China, with his comrad in arms, Kane. Throw in Tibet and an underground attempt at takeover by the Chinese rebels and the action becomes non stop. Add a virus that will kill millions easily and it stopping the coup becomes even more time compelling. Exciting story, as is usual with the Trapp series and returning characters, as interesting as ever. Next.
67%. That’s where I gave up on this book, which I almost never do. Although I’ve followed the Trapp series so far, this one was a slog from the beginning and just dragged on until you don’t care what happens anymore. The plot is muddy, the action is few and far between. Hope the next adventure is better.
This was an intense, very complex, and suspenseful thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's definitely not a story or series to be missed! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author. M
I’ve always wanted to write novels but never have. Only boring business publications. But if I ever do this one just became my benchmark. Well done Jack!
