Enjoy book two in a new series within The Lyon's Den Connected world titled Risking It All by Dayna Quince.
Book 1 - Pretending to Love a Lyon Book 2 - To Steal a Lyon’s Heart Book 3 - The Lyon Won’t Lose
Dayna Quince was only fourteen when she developed a serious addiction to romance novels. What began as an innocent desire to read became an all-out obsession with the romance genre. She gave book reports on romance novels, got in trouble for reading during lectures, and would rather spend her time reading than attending high school parties. After all, high school boys could not compete with the likes of Stephanie Laurens' Devil Cynster.
After getting her first job, her addiction only got worse. She now had her own money to spend and a car to get to Barnes and Noble as frequently as she wanted. She managed to maintain a somewhat normal life, marrying her high school boyfriend, who was aware he was competing with fictional men for her attention. She soon began writing her own romance novels, inspired by her love for all things romance.
Dayna and her family live in Southern California with their two children and three fur babies. She is happiest at home, where she can be with her family and write to her heart’s content.
4 1/2*STARS* One of Mrs. Dove-Lyon's bodyguards,Tristan Chase, protects Felicity. Hiding from her fiance and father at the Lyon's Den, she is in constant fear they will find her. She feels safe, for now. As she and Tristan grow closer, it seems hopeless for them to be together. He is deeply in debt and has little to offer her except his love. Mrs. Dove-Lyon keeps offering him a way to get the money he needs, but he continues to resist, until he has no choice in order to wed Felicity. Mrs. Dove-Lyon plays a very dominant role as a matchmaker and protector of a young woman abused by life. Descriptive sex. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
To be assaulted and then forced to marry one’s assaulter is abominable. Then to be blamed for the assault! In Dayna Quince’s book, “The Lyon Won’t Lose”, Miss Felicity Brandon has no choice but to escape her fate, leave her family and village, and find a new life somewhere else. Felicity finds her way to the protection of the infamous “Lyons’s Den” in Regency London, run by the Black Widow of Whitehall, Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon. Felicity earns her keep by providing medical care to the residents and clients of the Lyon’s Den while being protected by Tristan Chase, Mrs. Dove-Lyon’s spy/enforcer. When Felicity’s sanctuary is discovered, she flees to protect herself. Tristan follows her to keep her safe. Can he declare his love for her? Can he ask her to be his bride? What can they do to obtain their happily ever after?
This is the first book of The Lyon’s Den Connected World that I’ve read, but it won’t be the last of either Ms. Quince’s books or the other books in this interconnected series. “The Lyon won’t Lose” has it all - a damsel in distress, the ruthless villain, a knight in shining armor (so to speak), forced marriages, duals and a strong heroine. This book captures the flavor of Regency England and gripped my attention from the first word. I didn’t want to put this book down! Though this book is a part of Ms. Quince’s Lyon’s Den series as well as the greater DragonBlade Lyon’s den series, this book can easily be read as a stand alone book. Any reader who likes Regency Romances will enjoy this book.
I wish to thank DragonBlade Publishing for the complimentary eARC of this book and for selecting me to review it on NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
The Lyon Won’t Lose by Dayna Quince is a little different storyline, although strongly featuring Bessie Dove-Lyon. Mr. Chase was an employee, along the lines of an enforcer. He was working to pay Mrs. Dove-Lyon, who held the note to his family home. The female protagonist was Felicity Brandon, the daughter of a vicar, so gentry, but not nobility. She had run away from home and had been found, and brought to the Lyon’s Den, by Trina, a housemaid. Mrs. Dove-Lyon was trying to find her a husband. So far, that had not happened, but she decided Felicity needed to get out more, so Mr. Chase would accompany her for security. That proximity simply increased the attraction they felt for one another. But, Chase knew he was not in a position to marry, so he would enjoy his time with her and help her find a decent man to be her husband.
These are both sympathetic characters, proving that one needn’t be a part of the ton to seek love. As always, Mrs. Dove-Lyon made these men work for it and Chase, in particular, who didn’t gamble. Didn’t even know how to play the popular card games. Chase was, at his core, an honorable man who loved Felicity. It was in enticing story. Fun to read. Decent plot, good characters, and plenty of action.
I was invited to read The Lyon Won’t Lose by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #DaynaQuince #TheLyonWontLose
i will admit, I have truly liked Tristan from the time he first appeared in this trilogy within the Lyon’s Den world. This story has categorily made me fall in love with him….and I am one that doesn’t do that very often. His care and concern for Flick is just heart melting. His jealousy and protectiveness made me want to jump into the book and live Flick”s life. I adored how the author weaved all three stories together and had the previous books characters be such a wonderful part of this story. One has to wonder just what Mrs. Dove-Lyon was really doing behind the scenes…perhaps making sure to get the desired results. It was hilarious how the author wrote about “instructing” Flick, using Tristian as the teacher. Normally authors simply end a scene before the actual lessons begin, so this was fresh and new and I loved it! Seeing the villain get his due was very satisfying and beautifully done-even her father got his set down…YAY Flick! I truly am sorry to see this group of characters go, and especially would have loved to have heard what the surprise ended up being at the end. I guess we will never know…..(sigh). A lovely story, a lovely series and lovely author!
I received this story for free and these are my own views.
Whilst this book is part of the connected world of the Lyons Den it’s also the final part of a trilogy by the author. I’ve love Tristan & Felicity throughout the trilogy & I’m so glad they found their HEA. Tristan Chase is a man with everything to lose, working for the mysterious Widow of Whitehall to raise enough money to buy back his family estate which his brother gambled away. But when Tristan discovers that Miss Smith, the gentle nurse he’s fallen for is an heiress in hiding, he knows he can never have her. Miss Felicity Brandon is desperate to escape a dangerous past. Under the protection of the Widow of Whitehall, Felicity must choose a suitor to marry, but secretly she wants only Tristan Chase. Then Felicity’s former fiancé and her father arrive. I loved Tristan & Flick’s story, he was so protective & she gained more & more confidence & blossomed. There was a lovely mix of romance, danger & humour. I loved how the horrid fiancé got his comeuppance, it was different & very fitting. I thoroughly enjoyed this engrossing romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
This was a continuation of a series within the Lyon’s Den series so there were familiar characters and a familiarity of the main characters from previous stories. I already like the main characters and rooted for them to be together. This story finally revealed the secrets of the heroine and her need for a husband. The story had well developed characters that had strong bonds of friendship. There was humor while still dealing with serious issues of abuse. The story was really about a wounded heroine who found her voice and strength through the love and support of a good man. Mrs Bessie Dove-Lyon did play a role in this story, but I have found that her character in these books is more ruthless than usual. She seems more manipulative than caring. This steamy story had secrets revealed, friendships built, families reunited, family legacy restored, physical abuse, parental neglect, duels, love, sweet romance and sentiment, and a HEA.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Net Galley and am voluntarily leaving this review.
We have Miss Felicity Brandon aka Flick she is a guest and resident healer at the Lyons Den! She is a Vicars daughter but has a substantial inheritance! She was assaulted by a man her father deemed suitable and was blamed for it instead! She left her very small village and has found sanctuary in the Lyons Den! Tristan Chase Cameron of the Clan of Cameron is her bodyguard and the only man Flick feels safe with! But Tristan has been working on his debt to safe his estate for over a year and is no closer to his goal! Mrs Bessie suggests a plan but Tristan initially says no! Things start to escalate as the people seeking Flick find her and Mrs Bessie offers her a wealthy suitor who can stand against her ex and her father! Can a man who has never gambled win against the house? But love finds a way and Tristan is a man in love and he won’t loose! Both their destinies on the turn of a card? What a page turner and nonstop action! Bravo! I received an ARC copy for my unbiased review!
Truly a Fantastic Adult Lyon's Den Story I have not read this author before and she just wrote one of the best Lyon's Den stories I have ever read. This book deserves more than the 5 stars I am allowed to give. The characters are completely fascinating and the connection they develop is heartwarming, sizzling, along with breathtaking. The authors dedicated time to the intimate detailed teaching scenes are very well written and are certainly fan worthy. Tristen is a retuning character and has been relegated to be Felicity's bodyguard. His devoted.care and concern for Flick certainly captured my heart. In this book Mrs. Dove Lyon was more involved which made the book even more special. I can't say enough of how much I enjoyed this authors talent for details. The love scenes were exceptionally well written. 💋Adult Advisory: 3/5 💖Favorite Character" Tristen (A man of my dreams) 🏆Bravo: to the author Ms. Quince
Always excited for a new Lyon’s Den to come out and Dayna Quince was a new author to me, so I jumped on a chance to read this. And wow, this story delivered! It’s a very interesting unusual plot (also not involving dukes, earls or viscounts as MCs, so a plus for originality there!). Tristan is such a noble, protective MMC. And Felicity is a very strong and brave FMC, who is forced by traitorous family and circumstances to have to overcome some heartbreaking challenges and setbacks.
This story is full of angst, passion, love and is so beautifully written. The pages simply fly by and I am so invested in all of the secondary characters that I will go back to read Dayna Quince’s precious installments. I am also looking forward to reading much more of her work.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dragoblade Publishing for an advance copy of this wonderful story!
Felicity is hiding at the Lyon’s Den. She is on the run from her father and the man who assaulted her, the man her father wants her to marry. Tristan Chase is Felicity’s body guard. He is working for Mrs. Dove-Lyon in order to buy back the family home his brother gambled away. Felicity trusts Tristan. He is protective and kind to her. As they spend time together, they fall in love. The problem is that Tristan cannot afford to take a wife. When Felicity’s father and fiancé find her, Tristan decides that he must take drastic steps to protect her and make her his. Maybe this is what Mrs. Dove-Lyon had in mind all along. Interesting story and likeable couple. There is intrigue, secrets, danger, and a lovely romance. I received an ARC of this book via Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.
Felicity Brandon is in hiding from Chadwick (it had to be a Chad) who did her dirty and yet, her father intended her to marry him. Her father controls her fortune (although, at 24, once she reaches her majority of 25, she can control her own money) and still wants her to marry Chadwick. Felicity was a very innocent miss and she still is.
Tristan Chase is handsome, lusts after Flick (his nickname for Fel.icity) has younger siblings and a home he's trying to get back while he pays off his brother's debt and protects Felicity. She has a wed a man of her choosing. Will she choose Tristan, the one man she feels safe with? Recommen.d 4.5 stars
Thank you NetGalley. Very few of the books take place more than a few pages in the Lyon's Den, this one is different. Here is a daughter of s Vicar that thinks she should marry the man who violated her. She runs away and seeks help from Mrs. Dove-Lyon. Tristan has been asked to guard her while she is staying at the Lyon's Den. They are attracted to each other. There must be a reason for this bad man to want to marry her so bad he comes looking for her. Tristan is paying his brother's debts by working for Mrs. Dove-Lyon. He hasn't the money to marry, what can he do? This is a sad situation, but there is an answer,
I love the Lyon's Den series. Two people who owe Mrs. Dove-Lyon are forced to face their feelings for each other. A card game and a duel force each one to face their fears. This was an enjoyable read
