I’m done always choosing a Mr. Wrong. I’m looking for someone who wants commitment. Who isn’t afraid of my fabulousness. I’m sick of always being someone’s dirty little secret. Seeing all my girlies get their happily ever after makes me realize how much I want it for myself. Unfortunately, my past suggests I’m great at picking men who promise everything and deliver nothing.
Until him.
Charlie Nash wasn’t what I thought I was looking for. He’s quiet. Guarded. Emotionally damaged. A rule follower.
But sometimes what you want and what you need aren’t the same thing.
HE WAS EVERYTHING I WASN’T READY FOR
Survival is my specialty. I’ve learned how to live one day at a time. You keep moving. Keep those walls up. Making sure no one can see how broken I am behind them. My past has taught me that planning ahead is dangerous and trusting people even more so.
But Derrick Jones doesn’t care about my carefully curated rules. He’s all chaos, sunshine, and positivity. He’s come into my life like a colorful tornado, messing it all up, leaving a path of fabulous destruction.
And the longer I let him, the harder it is to remember why I made those walls in the first place.
"JA Low lives on a faraway beach in Australia. When she's not writing steamy scenes and admiring hot surfers, she's tending to her husband and two sons, and dreaming up the next epic romance."
I’m sad as this is the last of the dirty Texas Gang story Derrick jones you are one beautiful human after reading this book he will be forever in my book of men that I love, his character has everything, best friend,a shoulder to cry on, listening board the list goes on but he is one damaged soul his friends have helped him but nothing until Charlie comes into his life. Reading Derrick thoughts of everything that has happened in the dirty Texas series was hard at time as he struggles with seeing his friends hurt but he is that guy who is there for you no matter what. It broke me how his relationship was with chance but glad that Charlie arrived also happy how his and Charlie relationship grew.
You have to read this book as there so much more but it will spoil it if I say more Definitely a book to read over and over again
I loved reading Dirty Ever After, but read it with a touch of sadness as it brings an end to the series about the rock band Dirty Texas. I’ve loved this series & am sad to come to the end of their story. Basically this is Derrick’s story. He has been a constant presence since the beginning of the Dirty Texas series, a larger than life character who’s been involved in everyone else’s story & definitely deserves his own story. The first part of the book takes the form of additional scenes to the earlier stories, as witnessed & told by Derrick - an unreliable witness who has no doubt put his own interpretation on events. At times it’s not an easy read as it’s not a continuous narrative; this isn’t a criticism as I know it’s intentionally been written this way. These additional scenes tell us more about the original stories & characters as well as giving us insight into Derrick’s life & background, & how life as part of the wider Dirty Texas family has helped him discover what he really wants from life. In the second part of the book a more coherent narrative tells the story of Derrick’s journey towards finding love & the happy ever after that he craves. It’s a great book which been so much fun to read, and an emotional roller-coaster as I’ve lived with Derrick through all the ups & downs that life has brought him. I’ve loved getting to know Derrick, & it’s been a great story to bring the Dirty Texas series to an end (sob, sob).
Overwhelming. It was long but so emotional, heartbreaking and a lot of swooning! I think it sums up the feelings after reading this book. I mean 881 pages, it was my record! I have never read a book that big and so willingly! I had to take it in stages. A few chapters a day otherwise I would have been overwhelmed! It could have been cut in 2 parts. The recap where we read about the first stories through Derrick eyes and point of view. But it added also some details to the first stories which I really enjoyed as I thrown into the dirty Texas with some new stuff. I loved how Charlie and Derrick’s story came together. How they helped each other and they grew together but also slayed their demons together. I wasn’t a fan of Chance but I think it was necessary and important to Derrick’s character and emotional maturity. But it was heartbreaking to read about it.
Now I can’t wait for the dirty Texas spin off and I want to know what happened to Arran and Chance, Jesse and Faith , I want to read about Jackson story, the Lost boys… hopefully it won’t be too long for the next chapter in the dirty Texas story!
1 Year ago I found the “Dirty Texas” series by JA Low and I devoured it. Each and every one of these books has been awesome to read. These characters stories are so vividly told and the emotions they have just make you want more! Through them all I have loved Derrick. From the very first book I knew his story would be one of my favorites simply because he is such a character. Loyal, fierce and fabulous. So I found it fitting that my first book of the new year would be Derricks story…. The final one in this amazing series. I drew it our for as long as I could but three days is all I could manage! I laughed, I cried, and I loved every page.
While you could read this book as a stand alone, I highly suggest starting at the beginning and reading them all. If you choose not to. That is ok! JA did a great job with this book because its like you get to see al the other stories form Derricks view and I loved that. For me it was like looking back at the best of clips from the other books! Seeing Derrick get his dirty ever after was well worth the wait. Now I want to get his brothers stories — now that we have them!
This was such a great story told entirely from Derrick’s POV and honestly, seeing everything through his eyes made it even better. We get to watch the journey through the years- the highs, the lows, the chaos, love and everything in between, was incredible. Watching his family grow was the whole experience, from weddings to babies… and then more babies. Seriously…so many babies. At one point I was like, does this family even sleep? 😂 What was I thinking, they are rock stars after all 😏
Derrick’s love for his girls, their babies, and yes, their hubbies too (because they definitely earn their keep) was everything. The man loves hard, and it shows on every page.
The emotion toll I did not see coming. This book was a full-blown roller coaster ride. I laughed. I cried. I laughed again. I cursed at my book. I cried sad tears. I cried happy tears. I laughed while crying (always a good sign)… and thankfully, it all ended with happy tears. Thank god, because my heart couldn’t take another hit.
Wow! I don’t even know where to begin. This book was everything! I have loved Derrick since I first came across him in the Dirty Texas books only last year. I was thrilled when I learned he was getting his own book. I couldn’t wait to read it. I have loved this series and felt like I was a character on the sidelines of each story. Derrick’s book goes through everything. From the beginning of his story, all the way through the girls’ stories and behind the scenes of them and what we didn’t read about to the future of his friends and the rest of his story. I absolutely loved this book. I laughed out loud several times, and cried too! Wow! I have missed the Dirty Texas bunch and this book was honestly just what I needed. Derrick deserved to find his happy ever after (or dirty ever after) after everyone else did. This book was very long but honestly in my opinion, not long enough! I could’ve kept reading about him and everyone else forever. Wow what a book! I can’t wait to dive into this series again soon!
This story delivers everything I’ve have been waiting for and then some. Derrick finally takes center stage, and his journey is equal parts hilarious, heartfelt, and deeply emotional. His larger-than-life personality, sharp tongue, and desperate need to be loved make him impossible not to root for especially after watching him repeatedly choose the wrong people who can’t handle his authenticity. Enter Charlie Nash: quiet, guarded, and carrying emotional scars that contrast perfectly with Derrick’s bold, unapologetic presence. Their connection unfolds with raw honesty, undeniable chemistry, and a beautiful slow-burn that proves opposites really do attract. Watching these two navigate vulnerability, healing, and acceptance is powerful and incredibly satisfying. This book hits hard in all the right ways and cements itself as a standout in the series—emotional, funny, and unforgettable.
Been waiting a few years for Derricks book and loved it. Reread the series before reading this and it was really unnecessary as the weaves in all the times lines. That was probably my one draw back was how long it actually took for Derricks real story to start but I loved how we got to see his personal relationships form with each of the guys especially Axel and Jackson. I was so confused on Chance I thought maybe he changes his name to Charlie as we dont meet Charlie until ch.43 and then I was like FINALLYYY. Loved Charlie absolutely perfect they both needed healing and decided they were it for each other. Felt rushed but really when you know you know. Omg Callum, Rowan, Arran and Tavish made me laugh with their group chat. Love how Derrick got closure in more ways than one and his happily ever after.
This book is well worth the wait! Reading it through Derricks eyes with all his fabulousness, his up and downs. Making hard choices. Getting family he always wanted and getting his HEA with kids! I absolutely love how Mrs. Low entwined the main characters from the first 5 books. It reminded me of some things that I forgot. I was going to reread the series again but decided not to. I’m glad I didn’t now.
It’s has 881pgs so be prepared.
If you’re new to Dirty Texas highly recommend you start at book one!! (It has a lot of reminders from the first 5 books) though.
Thank you Jess for giving Derrick his own Story. I know a lot of Us readers wanted this and begged you over the years! Well done, I loved it!
This was very long and I don't personally think it was worth the 10 year wait. This was a retelling of all of the relationships of the books prior from Derricks perspective and his romance which really didn't start until about 43% in. The steam was lack luster and became quite clear that JA Low had not written an MM books up to this point because all of the sex was oral or hands and I know she can write better than that. So if she tries to write another MM book someone research and write it the way readers who love the MM genre to indulge in (including myself). I think she can do it just don't take 10 years to write the next book plz.
Much anticipated and this did not disappoint. I can’t fault this at all. Beautifully written storyline tying up all the loose ends from our favourite Dirtyverse, and introducing many new favourites. Fabulous to be immersed with all our previous favourites too, especially Christian and introducing Charlie. It feels like we need the next generation now! Superb 5 star read
I love this story soooo much. I have laughed and shed tears. It's an emotional roller-coaster. I love the way it recaps parts of the other characters lives and the impact Derrick had on their journeys. And how they impacted his life. Derrick really deserved such a happy life, and a special person to love him, and for that person to be loved by him . Definitely a feel good story.
Ten years in the making five stars was never going to be enough for this book!!! Derrick finally got his story and his happy ending. I have laughed and cried through this whole book and did not expect some of those twists and turns. I loved seeing the major events through Derrick's eyes too. Thank you Jess for writing this final book
Finally! Derrick got his HEA. I've been wait for this book forever. JA Low did Derrick justice. It was a little hairy though. He was put through the ringer. I loved seeing everyone's story peak in through Derrick's eyes. It brought the whole crew back into the mix. There were a couple plot twists I didn't see coming but absolutely loved. Worth the wait!
The long anticipated ending of the Dirty Texas series did not disappoint. I laughed. I cried. And I was even ready to destroy a few characters. Wouldn’t be a dirty Texas book without all the emotions.
Derrick and Charlie are absolutely perfect. Great job yet again Mrs. Low. You knocked this one out of the park.
JA Low always writes books that capture your attention and allow you to be fully immersed into a new world. Her writing is smooth and cohesive so you can get lost into whatever fantasy she has imagined. This book was worth waiting for and I hope she writes a hundred more.
Dirty Ever After was such a great story. It was the Dirty Texas Series from Derrick's point of view. I recommend reading the rest of the series prior, however it is not essential. It was an emotional read in parts and happy in others. She was a big boy (800 plus pages) but worth it. Can't wait for what is to come from JA Low.
I loved Derrick getting his own story and him finding his family and partner etc!!!! But the first 500ish pages were just his POV of everything that has happened previously in the series with a bit of him + chance - seemed v unnecessary:(
What a wonderful way to end the best JA Low series. Thanks for reminding me of each Dirty Texas members story. I’m glad Derrick got his HEA. He so desperately deserved it. Is there another story line being developed about Derricks brothers Callum and Rowan?
This was such a good read. I loved going through all the characters stories again through derricks eyes. Make sure you start with sienna and evens book and follow the order from there.
WOW! this book was EVERYTHING I didn't know I needed. Following Derrick through all the years was so much fun and his Dirty Ever After was absolutely perfect!
