I am not a huge fan of the age-gap trope but mixed with fated mate, it was pretty interesting.
Maisy is really sweet and funny and I loved her awkwardness. I could feel Matthias loyalty and protective side pouring from the page !
I was happy to go back to Bad Bear Mountain and I hope to go back soon.

ALPHA'S MATE by Lee Savino and Renee Rose follows the love story of Maisy, a young, socially-awkward but eager to grow into herself woman, and Matthias, a bear shifter and resident doctor of Bad Bear Mountain. Matthias has long known that Maisy is his mate, but his fear of hampering her growth, as well as his persistent (possibly dangerous) inner bear, makes him reticent to mate with her. Meanwhile, Maisy harbors an immense crush on Matthias, but her struggles with her drug-addicted father make her feel like her opportunity for personal growth is stagnated.

From the moment we met Maisy, I loved her. It was clear that she carried a lot of self-worth issues on her shoulders, and the addition of her struggles with PCOS made her very relatable. She was charmingly awkward and sweet, and I enjoyed her dad jokes! Honestly, her humor in the hardest situations made me root for her and really want to be her friend! Her chapters were my favorite because I felt like it was truly Maisy's voice. The tangents she went on, her inner thoughts and "Dr. Hunk" had me laughing out loud!

I was confused when Maisy would say that her grandmother, Daisy, and her best friend, Missy, were overbearing, because it didn't feel like they were at all. Maisy kind of projects onto Missy in particular, but it felt unfair when Missy apologized for snapping but Maisy didn't, because in that particular scene, I didn't feel like Missy had done anything wrong. She was literally just helping Maisy with her makeup and Maisy's inner thoughts somehow twisted it so she thought Missy was being condescending? I don't know, it just felt so out of character for Maisy.

Basically, anyone in the book who attempts to voice their concerns and worries over Maisy is deemed as overbearing, but it didn't come across like that at all.

Likewise, Maisy later states that she's mature, and wants to be treated like a woman by Matthias, which is a very fair and strong thing to say! Maisy definitely deserved her autonomy, and I ATE the chapters where she became confident in her body. However, she had many scenes of immaturity that made me question her reaction to Matthias

I wish we had more scenes of Maisy asserting herself, particularly to her father! The whole plotline with her father really felt nonexistent, because he seemed like he would be such an amazing foil to Maisy and encourage her to develop without Matthias, but it fell flat for me. Maisy's PCOS and backstory with her mother also felt sidelined in favor of her relationship with Matthias, and I really wish we had more of those parts of her life affecting her daily interactions! I think especially Maisy's PCOS would have been a great focal point, particularly to women who struggle with PCOS and identity!

Nevertheless, Maisy's development, overcoming her fears and learning to assert herself, had me rooting for her! The spice scenes with Matthias, where she slowly learned to become somewhat of a dominant submissive, had me CHEERING! I was like, "YES MAISY!" because I was so glad to see Maisy take charge.

Matthias was SWOONY! This man was down BAD for Maisy and I loved it. Every single thought in his mind centered around her, but more than that, Matthias was smart and protective, not only of Maisy, but also his family. He was willing to do anything for the people he loved, and he was loyal right to the core. I loved Matthias's chapters and seeing him restrain himself for Maisy's sake. And when he became the Daddy Dom Bear? 🥵🥵You need more than just a fan for those scenes!

I did, though, feel like it was only lust for Matthias, enhanced by the mate bond. I didn't get enough 'romance' between Matthias and Maisy, because everything was overshadowed by Matthias' need for Maisy and him trying to resist the mate bond. (Also the whole 'he liked her since she was 15 and he's 10 years older than her') kind of felt...weird? I mean, he knew the mate bond was there since then, and he did distance himself, but still...

Despite this, Matthias was truly one of the hottest MMCs! His aftercare was so toe-curling, and his nicknames for Maisy? 'Beautiful', 'Sweetheart', 'Good GIRL' - ugh, I was obsessed. Good Girl especially had me warm. I could see why Maisy was attracted to him! And when they were in the bedroom...'Sir'?! The dominance? That crawl to me scene? UGHHHH I was in love.

Matthias' use of the Moon Cure paralleling Maisy's parents' drug use? The trauma? The explosion that finally happens between them? Ugh, I loved it! I truly felt for both Maisy and Matthias and honestly (this may be a little mean 😅) but seeing Matthias realize his error in treating Maisy like a fragile being instead of a woman who could make her own choices was kind of exhilarating. I mean, I understood Matthias' reasons for staying away and I wasn't too keen on Maisy's reaction (it kind of just reinforced Matthias' reason that she was still exploring and kind of not matured yet) but still, he did keep it a secret from her, knowing it would deeply affect their relationship.

Watching him spiral as the realization kept pummeling him in days to come, even affecting his inner bear, really cemented the bond between Matthias and Maisy. I also just really loved that parallel!

I definitely hope we get a book with Axle (I think that's how you spell his name - I'm not sure, there are so many renditions of Axle XD) and I kind of wish there was more of a resolve between him and Matthias, because I felt like Matthias was being really unfair to Axle, mate bond or not, because Axle was friends with Maisy.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the honeymoon scene! And the pool. And...literally everything between Matthias and Maisy 😂I especially loved that their 'marriage of convenience' made sense to me, and seeing them fit into the role as husband and wife made my heart flutter! Matthias was just the sweetest husband ever from day one (and that collar scene...👀)

I do wish we had more of the outer lying plot, though. There was build up several times relating to Maisy's dad and Lucky Lou, but it sort of fizzles out in a couple of pages. I'm still kind of confused what happens to Maisy's dad . So while there was amazing, exciting plot build up in the beginning, it really just fizzled out toward the middle.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! From the first page with Matthias' chapter, I was wanting more! Lee Savino and Renee Rose did an amazing job with Matthias and Maisy, and now I want to go back and read the rest of them! I need to know about Darius and Paloma and Teddy and Lana, and even Lucius and Selena! OMG I'm obsessed!

I made the mistake of reading this one before even reading the Black Ops series with the alphas as that’s when it seems we meet Matthias’ family. I had no idea who anyone was, and that hurt my rating for this book, among other things. Plus, I didn’t think the alpha series would go off on its own and just focus on bear shifters. I knew I should have continued the alpha series last year, or was it two years ago? but I just never got around to it. Here I was thinking it would be a standalone and fine to read. In fact, I thought it was a continuation of the alpha series since this isn’t the first time Matthias makes an appearance in the series. He’s been an ongoing character and around but we never really knew anything about him besides the fact that he was a doctor and a shifter, plus people came to him consistently. He carried himself as a loner and the type of man who didn’t go out seeking sexual adventures or mating games but you find out in this book that everything you thought about Matthias is a lie, or should I say assumption? I had mine, that’s for sure. I didn’t expect him to be the kind of man who enjoyed having a submissive and was into being a dom in the bedroom. He always seemed more reserved and meek. I guess this was also wrong too. Anyway, I had a few things that bothered me about this book, hence the 4 rating. I want to go over the positives, because there definitely was more of that than negative. The positive things I liked about this book was that it felt like a story. The other alpha books were good and I loved them, but those had more smut than story whereas this one had a good balance of the two. In the other books, the wolves and couple bear books I read had the hero aggressively seeking out to be with their mate and wasn’t afraid to claim them but approached the subject lightly and only after their mates knew about their shifting abilities. They also didn’t struggle as much to explain the mating bite and mates in general though there was some that did. With Matthias and Maisy, he was actively trying not to claim her because of his own assumption that she was too fragile and innocent. In a sense she was, but my problem with this dynamic was that he didn’t allow her to decide. He essentially took that choice away from her and I didn’t like that, Maisy didn’t either and for good reason. Yes she was a virgin but what Matthias assumed was that she wouldn’t be into what he’s into when having sex and a simple conversation could have stopped all this heartbreak and almost moon madness that Matthias went through. He was probably the closest shifter that did almost go moon mad, aside from the billionaire wolf that started this whole excitement for this series and these authors in the first place. If we look at Matthias’ point of view for a second I can understand why he’d want to stay away from her when she’s 15 as that’s when he first laid eyes and smell on her which ends up being 7 years ago. If I was in his position, I wouldn’t want to claim a 15 year old either but at the time, I still would have given them a choice. Clearly Maisy has been having a thing for him since she was that young, so I think the conversation could have happened then too but I guess in a way it could have gone differently. At 15, you’re just starting to turn into a young woman so maybe the maturity level wouldn’t be a good balance? But I think she would have been coherent enough and able to make her own decisions. It was Matthias’ fear that kept him away from her. He carries this fear throughout the book and I think if he just took a leap of fate as they call it and talked to her I think this would have gone an entirely different way but I guess then there wouldn’t be much of a plot, just how fast he can claim her. In a way, maybe this would have been the better direction to go into but semantics 🤷🏻‍♀️The bottom line is that his stubbornness and belief, plus the way he kept shooting himself up to avoid biting her was an annoying farce. He didn’t need this theatric if he’d only have a conversation with her and approach the subject lightly and lay all the cards out. As it was, he explained it to her in a way that sounded like he was only with her for their biology and not because he wanted her as a person. In human speak that can come off as an insult or slap to the face because then it opens your eyes to thinking oh shit! They didn’t want me at all, it’s just because of my smell. I could understand Maisy’s hurt over that comment, like oh I must not be good enough for you to claim me. I think what annoyed me about this book and the reason I gave this a 4 is because of Matthias’ blatant refusal to succumb to fate as they say and realize that Maisy is it and I’m going to claim her. There was a lot of uneasiness and fear that didn’t need to happen. I also didn’t like the fact that he shoots up to control his impulses that are natural for him. It didn’t sit well with me. When you take all that and combine it with a spicy and emotional story, you get a 4. I only wish Matthias didn’t let the fear consume him. It will be interesting to see what they do with Axel’s story if that’s in the cards, and I guess I’ll get to Darius and his other brother whenever I decide to pick up the alpha series and read the Black Ops series. It should clear up any confusion I had about them in this book.

I was definitely rooting for Maisy and Matthias!

Matthias is the resident doctor of Bad Bear and has known for several years that Maisy is his fated mate. Since she is so much younger and innocent in his eyes, he is reluctant to reveal the bond or act on it. Maisy has had a massive crush on Matthias for a long time, but she feels like he is out of her league. She is struggling to find her footing in a town where her grandmother casts a long shadow and with her addict father always asking for money. When Maisy is taken as part of her father's scheming, Matthias immediately goes after her and marries her. He says that it's a fake wedding, but Maisy wants so much more than that and his bear is tired of being denied.

I absolutely adored Maisy from the very beginning. Her awkwardness around her crush and her reluctance to talk to him about her medical condition despite him being the only doctor in town was understandable. She seemed to struggle a lot with her confidence, but her resolutions seemed like a step in the right direction. I think she had a lot of reasons why she might feel less than including her parents, her perception of her best friend, and her grandmother's big personality. Based on the interactions that we see between Missy and Maisy, I think that they both struggled with different aspects of self acceptance and found themselves wanting when compared to the other. However, I do think that the characterization of Missy as overbearing seemed a little unfair. She seemed to genuinely care about Maisy and her feelings, but she may have just been more extroverted than Maisy. On the other hand, I could definitely see how Daisy may have been overbearing. She seemed like the sort of woman who knew what she wanted and wouldn't take no for an answer. I did really enjoy Maisy's humor though and I thought that she seemed to be dealing pretty well with several difficult situations at the same time.

Matthias was a really intriguing character to me because he seemed to take the weight of the world on his shoulders and didn't want to ask anyone for help. I could really relate to that feeling and how he didn't want to burden anyone else with the issues he was dealing with. The fact that he was so resistant to claiming Maisy that he developed the Moon Cure was both really innovative and kind of short sighted in my opinion. It seemed like he thought that he could keep taking the Moon Cure forever, but it felt obvious that it would not continue to work forever. I did like how he and his brothers dropped everything to help Maisy as soon as they realized she was gone though.

The romance between Maisy and Matthias was cute and felt like it developed fairly naturally. I think that Matthias was right to wait to claim her because she did seem a little immature still even after all those years. The spicy scenes between them were really well written and I liked how Matthias checked in with her repeatedly to make sure that she was enthusiastically consenting to everything they did together. I did feel that some of the aspects could have been explored more. For example, it felt like the storyline with Maisy's dad was cut short without offering her any real closure. Also, the fallout from Maisy finding out about Matthias avoiding their bond for her own good/protection was really predictable. Overall, I really liked the chemistry between Maisy and Matthias and how they were able to communicate and resolve their issues.

I am excited to read more in this world especially about the other brothers. I am really looking forward to Axel and Everest's stories as I felt like they were really interesting side characters and I had a lot of questions about both of them.

I received a free advance copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

I’m a sucker for an age-gap trope. Toss in bear shifters and fated mates, and honestly? That should be an automatic win. All the ingredients for an epic romance were right there… so why didn’t this one fully take off? Let’s start with Matthias. I got his concerns about Maisy’s age—I really did—but she was his fated mate. Full stop. Even he acknowledged at one point that he could claim her later on, so what exactly was the holdup? Was he hoping she’d go sample other men first? Move away and “find herself”? His endless internal tug-of-war with his bear dragged on for so long it became, frankly, unbearable (yes, I’m owning the pun). Meanwhile, Maisy had been in love with the good doctor for as long as she’d understood what love even was. She was sweet, awkward, and occasionally so earnest that she came across younger than her actual age—but I adored her terrible dad jokes. Even when she used them as a shield to deflect attention, they were charming. Her inner monologues were a highlight: funny, vulnerable, and surprisingly raw, laying bare her confidence issues and her not-so-subtle crush on “Dr. Hunk.” One thing that kept tripping me up, though, was the naming situation. Maisy, her grandmother Daisy… and then the reveal that Maisy’s real name is also Daisy? My brain stumbled every time. Maybe that’s just me, but it pulled me out of the story more than once. The kidnapping plot, however, was a great catalyst. It finally forced Matthias to confront his feelings for Maisy—and about time. That said, once she was found, the tension fizzled out far too quickly. I wanted a more frantic search, higher stakes, and definitely more involvement from her father. Despite Matthias’s reluctance to mate her, there was never any doubt that he was completely gone for Maisy. And yes, I loved that Matthias was a Dom. A Daddy Dom for Maisy? Absolutely worked for me. Vegas was where everything finally clicked. Seeing them on the same page, married, and fully committed lived up to all my expectations. Still, Matthias’s almost clinical explanation of their bond was anything but romantic, and it made total sense that Maisy felt her world cracking apart after everything they’d shared. The decision to use the Moon Cure to suppress that bond hit especially hard and echoed the way Maisy’s parents had chosen drugs over their own child, and that parallel was painfully close to home. All in all, this book delivered a little bit of everything. I laughed. I cried. I yelled in frustration. And in the end, I sighed in satisfaction. Imperfect, emotional, and ultimately enjoyable, this was a fun shifter romance with plenty to love, even if it didn’t quite stick the landing.

It's getting hot in here

The story about Matthias and Maisy is very well written from both POVs in the first person. This make me enjoy their story because I could feel and understand them best this way.

Did I cry and laugh with them? Definitely.

And let me say, even non native English readers will enjoy this as it is easy to follow.

About Matthias, I could fully understand all his feelings and morals. I was invested in his HEA and happy that the went through an evolution within the story. All his actions and feelings were relatable (even the shifter parts). He's a deep character with all his faults and positive traits, and I liked him.

Maisy, oh Maisy. She made me cry and laugh (sometimes on the same time). I was so much invested in this character. She was the main reason I devoured this book (and their chemistry). She's this young woman that has already gone through so much but still is so sweet and lives with some marks. All that makes so much sense in how she behaves and what she feels. I'm so happy for the remarkable evolution she's going through in this story. I really like her.

Now let's talk about the chemistry between Matthias and Maisy that is right palpable from their very first interaction and getting higher from page to page. There are enough hot and spicy pages. Not too much.

About the side characters: They're sometimes funny and very much assertive in their wordings (I mean Axel).

conclusion:
An impressive love story with deep main characters and enough spice.

infos:
This book contains BDSM scenes.

This is the third book in the Bear shifter series.
book 1: Alpha's Claim (Darius & Paloma)
book 2: Alpha's Rescue (Teddy & Lana)
book 3: Alpha's Mate (Matthias & Maisy)

I'm sorry, but this has to be the 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 i have ever read. I swear the plot had me craving more. The tension, the romance, the humor..just 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 this book had to offer!

Imagine scheduling healthcare appointment for a female issue, only for her doctor to be switched last minute from a female doc to a male doc who happens to be the man she's had 𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞. And the best part is that she doesn't know she's 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 and 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘮! Things get even more interesting when he finds 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 and he decides to help her achieve them(𝙤𝙛𝙘 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩)🤭.

𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝓌𝒶𝓎 𝐼 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝒾𝓈 𝓅𝓇𝑜𝒷𝓁𝑒𝓂𝒶𝓉𝒾𝒸.
The way Matthias wanted Maisy and still didn't act on it left me gasping. I was wondering just how effective the moon cure really was, because his restraint was INSANE.

What was driving me crazy? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 between them,,𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦, 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴.

Everything aside, I also want my marriage to be officiated by 𝗙𝗮𝘂𝘅-𝗘𝗹𝘃𝗶𝘀😂😂! I mean who wouldn't want a hilarious ball of sunshine and funny at that officiating their wedding? 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞 is one of my favourite scene! The brother's made it better, especially the triplets made it perfect!

From the moment Maisy is introduced, it’s clear she’s been quietly carrying feelings for Matthias that leave her flustered and off balance whenever he’s nearby. Fate has a sense of humor, though, and when she needs medical care, he’s the very person assigned to treat her—turning an already awkward situation into something emotionally charged.

Matthias, however, is fighting a battle of his own. He knows Maisy is his destined partner, but the age difference convinces him that staying away is the responsible choice. Determined to suppress his instincts, he develops a serum to dull the pull between them. Unfortunately, science proves no match for fate, and his control begins to slip. When Maisy is taken by force, his bear refuses to stay restrained. Protecting her becomes his only priority, and the answer he lands on is drastic: claiming her as his wife. But a marriage certificate won’t magically erase the danger posed by her unreliable father and the dangerous people he’s entangled with.

The story also dives into Maisy’s painful family history. Her relationship with her father is deeply strained, and the truth surrounding her mother’s death casts a long shadow over everything. It’s impossible not to anticipate the fallout once Maisy uncovers the choices Matthias has made “for her own good.” He seriously underestimates her strength, and he’s not alone—many around her, including her grandmother Daisy, treat her as if she might shatter at any moment.

Alex was a standout character for me. His loyalty and kindness toward Maisy are unwavering, and his presence adds a delicious layer of tension, especially as Matthias’s jealousy flares. The emotional build is intense, and when everything finally collapses, it does so with devastating force. I felt every bit of their heartbreak. Maisy faces the storm with remarkable grace, while Matthias completely unravels. It’s a powerful reminder that even the most intelligent minds can make spectacularly wrong decisions.

In the end, the strength of the bear shifter community shines through as they rally together to set things right. I closed the book deeply invested in what comes next. I’m crossing my fingers that the next installment focuses on Axel and Missy—and I’m very curious to see who might finally be able to unlock Everett’s freedom.

I’m a sucker for an age-gap romance, and add in bear shifters and fated mates? That should’ve been an instant win. All the right ingredients were there, yet this one didn’t fully take off for me. Matthias was the biggest hurdle. I understood his concern about Maisy’s age, but she was his fated mate. Period. His endless internal battle with his bear dragged on far too long, especially when he admitted he could claim her later. The constant hesitation felt less noble and more frustrating, and it slowed the story’s momentum.

Maisy, on the other hand, was a delight. Sweet, awkward, and deeply earnest, she’d loved Matthias for as long as she understood what love was. Her terrible dad jokes, often used as a shield, were oddly charming, and her inner monologue was a standout: funny, vulnerable, and painfully honest about her insecurities and crush on “Dr. Hunk.”

The kidnapping plot finally forced Matthias to confront his feelings (about time), but once Maisy was found, the tension fizzled too quickly. I wanted higher stakes, a more frantic search, and more involvement from her father. Still, there was never any doubt that Matthias was completely gone for her and yes, the Daddy Dom dynamic absolutely worked for me. Vegas is where everything finally clicked: commitment, marriage, and emotional payoff. That said, Matthias’s almost clinical explanation of their bond stripped the romance from a moment that should’ve been devastatingly intimate, making Maisy’s heartbreak and her decision to use the Moon Cure hit especially hard. The parallel to her parents choosing drugs over their child was brutal and effective.

Overall, this book gave me laughs, tears, frustration, and satisfaction. Imperfect but emotional, it’s an enjoyable shifter romance with plenty to love—even if it didn’t quite stick the landing.

I really enjoyed this book, Lee and Renee are 2 of my favourite authors so I tend to enjoy anything they cowrite together! Maisy and Matthias’s story is well written with engaging characters, good plot and everything you want in a shifter romance - drama, grumpy & protective alpha, spicy scenes and humour. I loved the dad jokes they told each other!

I liked maisy and really felt for her, her parents were both addicts, after witnessing her mother OD at age 5 and a father who is only interested in her when he wants money, she grew up feeling unwanted and unworthy. Despite being raised by her loving grandmother after her mother’s death, she struggles with her confidence and self worth, and feels her grandmother and best friend can be overbearing. When she attends the local clinic to get help with her PCOS symptoms she’s mortified to find she’s being seen by her longtime crush, Dr Hunk aka Matthias. Matthias has known since Maoist was 15 that she’s his fated mate but she’s too young and too innocent for him to give into his bear and claim her as his mate. When her father finds himself in trouble he uses Maisy as his chance to get out of the debt he’s accrued. When she is kidnapped and taken to vegas to be forced into a marriage, Matthias does everything he needs to to get her back safe and keep her safe.

There are some triggering themes in this book - substance abuse & overdose, death of a parent (both off page but discussed in minimum details), kidnapping (with the use of drugs to facilitate it), health condition (PCOS) and symptoms. Although these triggers are in the book, I think the authors do a good job of dealing with them sensitively and not in any great detail.

Every time I pick up a book by these two talented authors, I’m reminded of just how much I enjoy their work. I planned to take my time with this one, savouring it delicious page by delicious page, but that plan quickly went out the window. I was hooked and ended up devouring it in one sitting.

This age-gap shifter romance is brimming with intrigue, romance, drama, an overprotective alpha male, and plenty of steamy scenes. Set in Bear Mountain, this is Mathias and Maisy’s story, told through both individual and dual POVs. I appreciated the multiple perspectives, as they made it easier to understand the characters’ emotions. That said, I would have liked a bit more clarity around the inheritance situation and whether Maisy truly understood how the claiming bite would affect her.

Maisy works at the local coffee shop and has had a crush on Mathias for years. He’s ten years older, and you can’t help but feel for her. The trauma she endured at the hands of her parents, who would never win any “parents of the year” awards, left her with deep insecurities and low self-esteem. Maisy is tired of being treated as if she might shatter at any moment, because in truth, she’s far stronger than most people give her credit for. Still, whenever Mathias is near, she turns into a bundle of nerves and stumbles over her words. Being forced to seek his help for a medical condition brings her face-to-face with him, and the awkwardness is painfully real.

Mathias knows Maisy is his mate, but believes she’s too young for him. In an attempt to fight fate, he creates a moon serum to dull his feelings for her. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work. When Maisy’s father uses her as a shield to save himself, Mathias finally steps up and protects her the only way he knows how, by marrying her.

There was a lot to love about this book. It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. I admired Maisy’s resilience while also feeling her insecurities right alongside her. The inclusion of the triplets and their high jinks added much-needed humor, and I loved how fiercely they stuck together in times of trouble. What stood out the most was the evolution of Mathias and Maisy’s relationship.

As her new year’s resolution, Maisy has a good intention list for herself. One item on this list is to finally go on her first date. Although she is now in her early 20s, she had been a shy and self-conscious teen. So, dating hadn’t really been a top priority. However, she has had a crush on the town doctor, Matthais, for years. So, when she finally gets the nerve to ask him out, she is pleasantly surprised when he says yes. What she doesn’t know is that her doctor has felt a connection to her from the moment that they met. He realized that she was his mate and has been waiting until she was old enough to pursue her. This might sound a little cringe, but the way the authors wrote the story, it’s not. They put the emphasis on fated mates and how mates in the supernatural world are not a choice, they are chosen by fate and not by free will. They also have him describe how he wanted her to have her own life experiences before being with him. The connection between the characters and their feelings for one another is heartwarming. The tension buildup between them is also spectacular. (The authors really know how to write a good love scene!)
I loved reading Darius and Paloma’s story in book one, “Alpha’s Claim.” As this is book 2 in the Bad Bear Mountain series, I was very happy to delve back into that world. All the bear brothers are intriguing, and I hope the author’s plan to write all their stories. Although the characters are interconnected, each story can be read as a standalone.
I recommend this novel for mature audiences only due to sexual content and some violence.
I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I feel like every book I have read by Lee Savino and Rene Rose starts off with “hmm, never thought I’d read a book like this” to WHYYY CAN'T I HAVE TEN MORE? All I can say is Bear Daddy…

Maisy lives in Bad Bear Mountain, running a coffee shop with her grandma, who’s also the Mayor. Matthias is a doctor in the town, and secretly (but not really) a bear shifter. Maisy’s dad isn't a great guy, and tried to marry her off to satisfy a debt. When Matthias learns of the plan and rescues her, he decides marrying her will keep her safe from Allen’s thugs. But it presents a new worry, as Matthias is afraid of what his bear can do to the one he loves/his mate but has been trying to avoid for years.

We get suspense, banter, not only between Maisy & but also with Matthias’s brothers. It was also fun to see Wren, Paloma and Kylie from previous books. Savino & Rose always do a great job of inserting so many funny moments, mixed with the fun spice & suspense. The random “dad jokes” between Maisy & Mathias had me literally laughing out loud. Perfection.

I appreciated that Matthias recognized the age gap, power dynamic potential issue, and tried to be careful with Maisy. On the flip side, I fully understood when Maisy learned the whole story, and about Matthias’s hesitation, feeling like it was a dig at her. Maisy’s take on the fated mates was really interesting to me, and I don't think I have seen that analysis with a character before. I think the authors handled it beautifully.

If you haven't checked out a shifter romance, or are new to either Renee Rose or Lee Saivno I highly, highly recommend.

Thank you to the author for the ARC!

What an exciting ride as Matthias and Maisy try hard to not let the other know their true feelings.
Maisy has had a crush on Dr Hunk aka Matthias Stark since her early teens.
As it happens Matthias has been well aware of Maisy as he scented her as his mate when she hit puberty at 15.
He needed to keep away from her, as he knew his bear was feral, and she was a fragile human.
7 years later, and it seems fate wants to come out and play.
Matthias takes regular medication, moon cure, to prevent him from sweeping Maisy off her feet and claiming her.
His reasoning is she is too young for him and had no experience with men and he cannot take that opportunity away from her....and as I said before, seems fate has other plans!!
A kidnapping occurs and Matthias's bear just about goes feral as he and his brothers search for Maisy, all the way to Vegas!
Following her rescue, the reasoning behind the kidnapping is revealed, so Matthias takes matters into his own hands. And what do people do in Vegas?? Get married, of course!
A fake wedding, to keep the enemy away from his now "wife", helps calm Matthias's bear, but little does he realise his little Maisy is in love with him and none of the wedding, or the honeymoon feel fake for her.
Plenty of hot spicy pages as Matthias decides he will be Maisy's teacher in all things sexual. And it seems she likes a little bit of what is being dished out by our Dom Daddy!!
Loved the whole entire story! And who doesn't like a little twist to the story that has Maisy walking away from the love of her life??
How does Matthias convince her to take him back. To make her realise she is his HEA?
Ohhhhh swoon!! HEA here we come!!

Maisy has had a crush on Matthias for a long time. She gets tongue tied when she is even near him. When she has a medical issue, he happens to be the one on duty to help. Matthias knows Maisy is his mate but she is too young for him. She should find someone closer to her age. In order to make sure he doesn’t go moon mad; he created a serum that should help lessen the draw to her. But it isn’t working as well as he hoped. When someone kidnaps her, his bear isn’t about to let their mate be harmed. But the solution to keeping her safe, is to marry her. But will that stop her dead-beat father and the guy he owes?

We learn about the relationship that Maisy has with her father. It isn’t good. And what was the cause of death for her mother. You know that is going to come into play when she finds out about what Matthais is doing. I can just hear that conversation. Matthais needs to man up and realize that she is her own woman and can handle anything. They all treat her like glass at times, even her grand Daisy. I love Alex. He is such a sweetheart. He is always there to help Maisy. That definitely stirs the pot with Matthais. Things heat up and then you knew it would crash, HARD. I cried for them both. But Maisy held her head high. Matthais fell apart. Lets just say the doctor isn’t always right. The bears stick together and make things right. I am hoping the next book is Axel and Missy. We still need to find someone for Everett to free him.

Alpha’s Mate was a delight to read. I loved that this is an age-gap romance (Matthias is about 11 years older than Daisy), but in many ways Daisy is the one who’s more grounded and assured! The major theme of this romance is assumptions: Daisy thinks that someone like Matthias would never be interested in her, while Matthias uses their age difference to come with any number of (really bad) rationales for why they can’t be together—even though not claiming his mate might kill him.

Rose and Savino are long-term writing partners, and that comfort with one another shows in how smoothly this book proceeds. I particularly liked that Daisy didn’t have wild ambitions or any sort of crazy mystery plot around her. She just wants to expand her coffee shop! Matthias is a doctor and cares deeply about his community. Seeing their relationships with others in their town was a treat. And they both love dad jokes—that was easily one of my favorite parts of this story!

I did think it odd that after Matthias spends the first part of the book avoiding telling Daisy of his shifter status, that just conveniently stops being a problem when she’s in danger. I needed this addressed a bit more. I also wondered how Matthias could keep dosing and dosing himself with the Moon Cure without any type of health consequences.

But this book flowed so easily. When you have protagonists this likable, that’s an easy thing to do!

Rose & Savino are favorites of mine, but not this story

⭐⭐⭐.5
🌶️🌶️🌶️

Matthias is 32 and the oldest of 7 brothers. He realized Maisy was his mate when she was only 15. He tried to suppress this with his "cure". I hated that. He fought that mate bond, thinking he knew best for both of them because he's older. Turns out, Maisy was more grounded and more mature than she was given credit for.

At 22 years old, Maisy runs everything in the background of Bad Bear Mountain for her 90 year old grandmother Mayor Daisy. Her traumatic childhood wrecked havoc on her self esteem. She's working to overcome that but Matthias doesn't help matters at all with his dominant and controlling tendencies thinking he knows best because he's older.

I'm sad to say this is not one of my favorite stories written by these authors. I feel like this whole plot was too focused on Matthias rejecting his mate. Especially after she came of age and he still pushed back. It was a moot point and silly. I would've liked more detail around the inheritance. It didn't make sense because it was lacking information. This part felt rushed and dismissed. Matthias was forgiven was too easily. He should've had to work harder to earn Maisy back. Jumping right into Dom scene with Maisy was unrealistic and frankly, cringy!
This is merely my personal opinion.

I absolutely adore the banter between the siblings. I cannot wait to see more of them in their own stories! Maybe a possibly RH with the triplets?

Hot! HOT! SIZZLING HOT!

Rose and Savino are perfect partners in writing sizzling HOT paranormal romance! The characters are magical! So well-developed they jump from the pages into your real life. The bad bear brothers are hilarious and their banter reminds me of the millions of of "fights between my brothers and myself!

Seven bear shifter brothers, all adopted, and all hunky stud-muffins, presents alot of options for follow-up stories. And I plan to read them all! But first, Alpha's Mate, book two in Renee Rose and Lee Savino's, Bad Boy Bears, lives up to the first book, Alpha's Claim. I can't believe that the romance just gets sexier with each book. Make sure to have plenty of panties available, because Matthias' Dom nature and low sexy growl just might melt them right off! I liked how the slow-burning sexual tension between Matthais and Maisy, seems to easily ignite and sets their world on fire. Of course there is the usual mix of emotions, when fated mates try to fight their attraction to each other. There is alot of entertaining suspense, a botched kidnapping and a not so fake marriage. The result is always forever happiness and true love for both Matthias and Maisy as another hot single bachelor brother bites the dust!

I can't wait until the next book is available! As always I am now left with the dilemma as to what to read as I wait!

4.75 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, small town, age gap, fated mates, contemporary shifter romance between “Maisy”, the female cafe manager human submissive lead, and Matthias, the male doctor/scientific researcher bear shifter dominant lead. I enjoyed Matthias’ devotion and empathised with the historical trauma that saw him being overprotective and nearly breaking his new relationship with Maisy. I enjoyed Maisy’s quiet organisation and creativity that saw her managing business and other opportunities for her grandmother, the town mayor. I empathised with the grief and trauma that her drug addicted father caused her. I enjoyed the relationship development, and the sweet and spicy intimate scenes that showed the increasing closeness. I adored Maisy’s willingness to push back against Mathias’ overbearing and controlling ways to ensure that their relationship was balanced. I laughed at, and adored, the supportive actions of Matthias’ brothers and the way they helped facilitate the success of the non-romance plot. I enjoyed the set up for the next story and am looking forward to it (hopefully soon)!

Alpha's Mate was my first book by this duo, and I had a great time with the sweet, age gap, shifter romance. I have not read about bear shifters, so this was a fun change of pace from my usual wolf shifter romances.

Matthias is the sexy, local doctor that Maisy has been crushing on since she was a teen. Little does she know, Matthias has been obsessed with her since he realized she was his mate when she was 15. He has been trying to stay away from her because she was too young for him. He even developed a drug to stop his bear cravings to make her his mate.

Things change when he has to treat her for her PCOS and also when her grandmother tries to play matchmaker. Unfortunately, Maisy's loser father brings danger into her life right as things are starting to happen between them. Matthias is willing to do anything to protect her, including a marriage of convenience.

I loved how obsessed Matthias was with Maisy, I just wished he didn't fight it so long and admitted she was his mate sooner. I also thought it was pretty obvious what Maisy's response would be and how it would happen.

Overall, I had a great time with these bear shifters, and I loved the whole family.

Alpha’s Mate, the second book in the Bad Boy Bears series by Renee Rose and Lee Savino, brings readers back to Bear Mountain—and I loved returning to this world.
It was great to revisit the bear brothers and see how they come together to support Mathias. Rose and Savino are a fantastic writing team, delivering an age-gap shifter romance brimming with intrigue, surprises, and drama. The story features an intensely overprotective alpha hero and a resilient heroine haunted by her past—along with plenty of steamy scenes.

This is the story of Mathias and Maisy. Mathias knows Maisy is his mate, but with a ten-year age gap, he believes she’s too young for him. In a misguided attempt to fight fate, he creates a moon serum to dull his feelings for her. Spoiler: it doesn’t work—LOL. His brothers know exactly who their bear wants and are determined to see him claim his mate.

Maisy, who works at the local coffee shop, has had a crush on Mathias for years. Watching the two of them resist their undeniable attraction makes for a hot, steamy, kinky, and emotionally satisfying journey. This is a beautifully written love story and an exquisite addition to the series.
I can’t wait for the next brother to fall.

Alpha’s Mate is the third book in the Bear Shifter series by Renee Rose and Lee Savino. This was my first journey to Bad Bear Mountain and it won’t be my last. Shifter romance is a genre I don’t read often and after reading this book I might rethink that. Let’s talk about Maisy and Matthias; it’s unusual for me to like both characters equally; but that was the case for these characters. I loved the growth of Maisy’s character and how she was socially awkward in the beginning to someone who was more comfortable with herself—it felt relatable. Also her dad jokes had me laughing out loud. And Mathias I loved how supportive and protective of Maisy he was. He had me swooning when he called her beautiful and sweetheart. True daddy bear behavior. The romance between them was sweet, but the spice between them had me blushing.
The plot line of Maisy father and kidnapping was intriguing; but I felt like it resolved too quickly. Overall this was a quick and enjoyable read. I can’t wait for my next journey to bad bear mountain. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

"I've wanted you forever. I've dreamed about you in my arms."

When I read "Alpha's Claim," which was book one in this series, I was sure I had Matthias all figured out. Even finding out he was a Dom didn't surprise me, as he had the bossy, controlling personality of one. But never, for one second, did I ever guess Doctor Dom was a sadist. It just seemed at odds with his healing, caring manner. I would have been less surprised if he'd been revealed as a Daddy Dom as it was more like his personality.

Maisy, poor Maisy, what a tragic and painful childhood she had. Seeing her mom die right in front of her from an OD had to have scarred her emotionally. Thank God she had her strong grandmother to help her through it and give her a chance at a better life.

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I actually thought Matthias was very romantic. He said sweet things to her, treated her wonderfully, took care of her, and dressed her in beautiful clothes and diamonds. Even their bedroom scenes were a fantastic mixture of spicy and romance. They had great chemistry, and I actually thought they were well balanced.

I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to whoever is up next, probably Axel, which I would love as he's my favorite of all the brothers. But I'm fine with whoever Renee and Lee choose. I'm sure I will love it, no matter who's book it is.

Matthias was a doctor in small mountain town of Bad Bear and is member of the community who all know that bear shifters live among the humans. He is shifter and he stays to himself to avoid his fated mate, Maisy, the granddaughter of the town mayor and a human...but as fates would have it, he is working at the town clinic when Maisy walks in, having a bout of ovarian cysts acting up...he examines and notes her symptoms and knows her current OB/GYN not treating her properly, prescribing a new regimen...but Maisy gets so tongue-tied around the doctor that she escapes when he has to deal with another patient...both want each other, but neither willing to admit it...but when he sees her self-improvement list, with "get a date" on it...he decides he must make some sort of move, but she gets kidnapped by her drug-addicted father's henchmen since she refused to spend time with man who abandoned her...and Matthias goes after Maisy...but will he admit he's found his mate??? You will need to read this story to find out what happens and catch up with other members of Bad Bear in the process...I voluntarily read this book through an Advanced Reader Copy.

Adorkably awkward Maisy has had a crush on the hot doctor forever but doesn’t think she has a chance with the older, smoother, bear daddy. She doesn’t know that they’re fated mates or that he’s known for years. Poor Matthias felt like a creep lusting for his young, innocent mate, so he’s gone to incredible lengths to avoid claiming her. It hasn’t been easy to stay away from his mate but Matthias has it down to a science, until Maisy’s in danger, then all bets are off.

Her estranged father is always in trouble, so it’s not unusual for him to come begging for his daughter to bail him out. But this time, the stakes are so much higher than a child’s birthday money. He’s put her in a terrible spot where things could go bad fast if Matthias and his bear brotherhood don’t find her soon.

This is the second book in the Bad Boy Bears series following Matthias and Maisy. Matthias has known for years that Maisy is his mate. However, Matthias is unwilling to claim her due to many factors. Maisy has always had a crush on Matthias. When Maisy comes to the clinic where Matthias is volunteering to be seen for issues with her ovarian cysts, she panics and runs away when he is briefly called away. When he returns, Matthias stumbles across Maisy New Year's resolutions to go on a date. Matthias has been taking a drug to suppress his mating urges, but when Maisy asks him on a date he accept, except Maisy is taken before it can happen. Matthias and his brothers track her to Vegas and find out her father is behind the kidnapping. The only way to save Maisy is to marry her. Once married, Matthias continues to resists his need to mate and Maisy catches him taking the drug. Maisy's parents were addicts for to see Matthias taking drugs is heartbreaking. Maisy returns home and Matthias nearly goes feral. Matthias must decide if Maisy is worth fighting for. Overall, this was a good installment. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

In a return to Bad Bear Mountain, this story centers on Mathias (Doctor Daddy Bear) and Maisie, his fated mate. The problem is he has known she was his fated mate for years and she is significantly younger than him. In an attempt to protect her, he's developed the moon cure, that dulls his senses against his attraction to his fated mate. Maisie has had a crush on Mathias for years, but never believed she would attract a man (bear) like him. But just when she decides to step outside her comfort zone, her deadbeat father pulls her into his mess. Mathias and his brothers rush to the rescue, and bing bang boom, Maisie and Mathias are married. But then she discovers him using the drug and comes to the conclusion he was only attracted to her because of the fated mate thing and not real interest. Mathias had a lot of groveling and apologizing and Maisie, unfortunately was being a bit immature and had a little growing up to realize she had all she wanted and shouldn't be throwing it away. Finally got our more than ready for it, HEA.

******Audiobook Review 04 Feb 26******
The audio book was meh. I could not reconcile the male narrator's voice with Matthias. While reading the book I could imagine a voice matching Matthias description and the picture on the cover of the book. Listening to the audio version, the narration of Matthias kept throwing me off and taking me out of the moment of the story. The female narrator was good.

If I had to make a recommendation, it would be for you to read the ebook first and then the audio book. Rating: 2.75 Stars

I voluntarily listened to and reviewed this audio book.

I liked Matthias and his brothers. The triplets and their siblings interactions were witty and humorous. I liked Maisy and felt for her because she seemed to feel inferior. It was sad seeing how completely competent in her professional life and so insecure in her personal life.

As much as I liked Matthias' gentle, concerned, caring, and supportive side, I still found him irritating because he seemed committed to treating Mackay like a China doll. The whole growly thing with Axel felt off too. The first time I could understand, but after it was explained, it was too much. Especially since Matthias was going that "wanting Daisy from afar" thing.

I really wish more time had been spent on the Allen/Lucky Lou situation. I felt like the reasons behind what happened were only explained to a point. Who was behind the inheritance? Daisy didn't know about it and their was nothing to indicate Daisy knew about it. So how did Allen know?

I also wish their had been more detailed discussion about the claiming bite. I appreciated all of the background given about Lucius and Matthias relationship. I helped to give a more clear picture of a number of things. Daisy agreed to a claiming bite with no idea what affect it would have on her. If she wasn't curious, I was.

There were holes I needed to have filled. I was intrigued by both the LuckyLou/Allen situation (which was resolved super fast) as well as the claiming bite. If Matthias was staving off Moon Madness for 7 years, it seems like the claiming bite would have been more significant to both of them.

And since I'm being greedy, a brief explanation of how Darius, Paloma, Kylie, Teddy, and Lana were connected to each other and the town would have been nice. It had been a while since I read the previous book, so they ended up as characters in this book with no real context.

Most of the book was entertaining and moved at a good pace. I would suggest reading the previous book before reading this one. I think it will provide a more complete picture of some things and make this book more enjoyable. I am looking forward to a book.about Everest. Rating: 3.5 Stars

Alpha’s Mate by Lee Savino (with Renee Rose) is a steamy paranormal bear‑shifter romance that landed at 3 stars for me.
The setup has a lot of tropes I enjoy: a grumpy, older alpha bear shifter, a younger human heroine, fated mates, fake marriage for protection, and forced proximity on Bad Bear Mountain, all wrapped in a high‑heat package.
The dynamic between Ronan and Maisy is engaging and the chemistry is definitely there, with plenty of possessive, overprotective alpha vibes and a strong sense of danger from outside threats. However, while the story is fun and fast‑paced, some elements felt a bit too over the top for my personal taste, and I would have loved more emotional depth and quieter moments between the steam and the drama.
Overall, Alpha’s Mate is a solid, spicy shifter romance that will work well for readers who love high‑heat fated mates, age gap, and a very growly protective hero, even if it didn’t fully become a new favorite for me. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow Wow Wow I loved this book.
Book 2 in the Bad Boy Bears series.
This time it's is Dr Hunks turn.
Matthias had taken on a lot of responsibility, looking after his family, caring for his mother. Working at the hospital, volunteering at the clinic. And avoiding Maisy.
Matthias has know Maisy is his fated mate since she was fifteen. Far to young for him and his desires. So he locks it down. Avoids her and creates a formula to dampen his cravings for her.
Maisy always becomes a klutz when Matthias is around. But she is drawn to him. Can't stop thinking about him and fantasises about him. Why won't he see her.
When Maisy is out in a precarious position Matthias finally starts to see the truth and does what he can to make things right.
I loved this story. The twists and turns of story and emotion, the pain and pleasure that ripples from the page. A captivating read i could not put down.
I love these characters, this town and these books.
I highly recommend this story, series and authors.
