A King in a Manger? Discover the Wonder of Christmas Through the Gospel of Matthew

What would you do if you found something completely unexpected—like a royal crown in a stable? That’s the kind of surprising twist at the heart of Christmas. In A Crown in a Cradle: An Advent Devotional, you'll explore the stunning paradox of Jesus Christ—the eternal King who chose a manger as his first throne.

This 25-day devotional invites you to encounter the Christmas story through the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel that presents Jesus as the promised King of Israel. With each day’s reading, you’ll discover how the majesty of heaven collided with the humility of earth—and why that changes everything.

Whether you’re reading alone, with a spouse, or gathered around the tree with your children, A Crown in a Cradle will draw your heart to the King who came not in splendor, but in straw.

This Christmas, don’t just celebrate a baby—worship the King.

I enjoyed this advent devotional! It wasn’t just about trying to come up with clever insights and nice things to say, even though they were present. I mainly appreciated the focus on scripture, the explanation of the context, and the practical application while overall encouraging us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. I was convicted and greatly encouraged.

As a teacher and visual learner, I also thought the kids activities listed at the end of each chapter were great!

I will be returning to this one in years to come.
