A soulful, sexy second-chance, friends-to-lovers romance about healing, timing, and the kind of tension you can't ignore even when you want to.
Lauryn M. Lindsey has a new job, a sleek condo with panoramic views, and a plan to finally put herself first after walking away from an 11-year relationship with a man who took up too much space-literally and emotionally. Her post-break up plan was move back to Chicago, no dating, no distractions. However, when Perry Mitchell, her disarmingly charming college friend, keeps reappearing, simplicity goes out the window. He remembers too much, looks too good, and makes her feel way more than she's ready for.
Perry's life was good - travel, ambition, work that kept him sharp, a home he was finally shaping into his own. He lived with focus, a man fully in his stride. Then Lauryn appears, and his resolve slips. After more than a decade, she was still the one thing he'd never outgrown, the pull he'd never severed. And now, with her in front of him, he wonders if this is the second chance he never thought he would get. The only will she stay this time?
For this to be the authors debut book I can tell she’ll have a long career in writing. This is a slow burn romance that had the feels of love, growth, and finally getting it right with the person you’re meant to be with. The story did flow and I did not see any inconsistencies in the story itself. The only thing I personally would’ve liked to see more was the couple being together doing the small things here and there.
Overall this is a good book and if you’re looking for a slow burn romance this one may be for you!
This was a cute slow burn romance that I really enjoyed. I loved the meet cute at the college reunion, and their constant “running into each other” moments were adorable. I just wish those moments showed more of their vulnerability.
I would have like less of Lauryn’s work life and more scenes where she and Perry actually had to talk, open up, and connect.
I also couldn’t tell who Lauryn’s main supporting person was since she confided in a few different people, but maybe that was done on purpose.
Overall, it’s a sweet, slow burn love story. It’s definitely worth the read. Oh, and check out the playlist on Spotify. It’s perfect.
Without giving away any surprises, this book is a heartfelt journey of family, love, reconciliation, and self-discovery. Expect tears—of both sadness and joy. The author’s relatable voice creates a powerful connection that lingers long after the last page. A fantastic first book, Christina—I can’t wait to see what’s next.
