I normally wouldn't review a recipe book, but this one deserves it!
I picked this up because I'm tired of paying for subpar lattes and cappuccinos, and I expected a book of coffee recipes. It's SO much more than that. It covers beans, roasting, coffee-growing regions and flavor notes, sourcing and storing fresh beans, and multiple brewing methods—even ways to make coffee without fancy equipment. And then there are the recipes! I especially love the homemade syrups and the ability to tailor my drinks while controlling exactly what goes into them. There's a ton of information here, but it's well organized, engaging, and genuinely useful.
This isn't just a recipe book—it's a teaching tool for anyone who wants to make better coffee at home.
I'm still making my way through the recipes, but the informational portion alone earned this one a review. ☕❤️
Coffee Shop at Home is a helpful, easy-to-understand introduction to coffee basics.
It breaks down coffee terminology, brewing methods, shopping for beans, and choosing equipment before offering 60 recipes for delicious, approachable drinks and syrups.
I’m not a coffee aficionado—I don’t drink coffee every day and prefer iced drinks, lattes, and frappes—so I read it mainly to learn how to make lattes, frappes, and mochas at home.
The book offers plenty of useful tips and advice, including things I didn’t know, such as using instant coffee to make frappes.
The photos are beautiful, and the recipes are easy to follow.
This is a great cookbook for coffee lovers and anyone who enjoys iced drinks like I do and don't want to pay nearly $10 for a small drink.
What a fabulous book full of information, helpful tips, and inspiring recipes. Have followed Katerina on facebook for some time now and have enjoyed all her incredible recipes and easy to follow directions.
If I wanted to be super picky I would say I wish there were some recipes on refreshers (yes I know it's a coffee book but her refresher recipes are amazing) and maybe some more creamer recipes that are on her website.
I purchased this book for our library. It looks good, but the index isn't very handy, I looked for Chai, and it was under Cardamom and Latte, but not just Chai. Also I was looking forward to making Granita, like I had at la Casa del Caffe in Rome, but alas. :-( I suppose it's not really a drink, per se.
On the other hand it has a lot of other useful info like how to make pretty designs on your drinks, and how to use different kinds of coffee makers, and what to have on hand.
Absolutely stunning collection of recipes. Great overview of coffee terminology, simple explanations of seemingly complicated methods, followed by delicious and easy to make coffees. This is a must have for any at-home barista. You may even need a second copy so you can hang the photos in your kitchen!
i got this for my bestie for her bday (she doesnt have goodreads) and I CANT WAIT TO GIVE IT TO HER AND BUY ONE FOR MYSELF! beautiful photos and detailed instructions 😍
