La «Trilogia cosmica» di Lewis è per la fantascienza quello che «Il Signore degli Anelli» è per il fantasy – senza l’una non avremmo l’altro.
«La nostra intenzione originaria era di scrivere un ‘thriller’ un viaggio nello spazio (il suo) e un viaggio nel tempo (il mio), dove scoprire il Mito ... Soltanto da lui ho avuto l’idea che la mia ‘roba’ potesse essere qualcosa di più che un passatempo privato. Senza il suo interesse e il suo desiderio incessante di altre pagine da leggere, non avrei mai portato a termine “Il Signore degli Anelli”».

Una lettura estremamente interessante, che molto si distacca dalla fantascienza attuale ma, come risulta chiaramente leggendo, ne costituisce una colonna portante.
Ogni volume è diverso e può essere letto indipendentemente. Tuttavia, è insieme che questi volumi danno il loro meglio: il tema del bene e della sua eterna lotta contro il male viene sviscerato pagina dopo pagina, assumendo connotati diversi e sempre più profondi man mano che si va avanti. L’etica cristiana di Lewis emerge chiaramente, soprattutto nel secondo volume.
L’ho trovata una trilogia interessante, adatta a questo periodo riflessivo della mia vita. L’avventura c’è, ma viene spesso lasciata in secondo piano per dare spazio ai ragionamenti del protagonista: una vera e propria filosofia che porta, talvolta, a dei risultati inaspettati. Un vero classico.
