I’ve been called many things—guardian of the winter sky, Lord of the North Wind, the one who runs until dawn. But tonight, I’m just a man standing in front of a mortal woman with candlelight on her skin… and a look that could thaw a thousand winters.
She’s a bookworm who came to the woods to escape. I’m the legend who crashed straight through her solitude. Now the storm outside is nothing compared to the one I’m trying to hold back inside me.
Every flicker of those candles tempts me closer. Every whispered page she turns sounds like a prayer meant for me. And when she finally looks up—eyes wide, lips parted—I know exactly how this night will end.
Under the glow of starlight and flame, I’ll teach her what it means to be claimed by something ancient… and she’ll learn that the stories about my stamina weren’t exaggerations.
So go on, little reader. Light a candle. And when you see the stars dance— you’ll know I’m coming for you.
This was a fantastical, spicy read featuring an insta-lust trope that hooked me right away. I loved the magical vibe and the chemistry between the characters. I just wish the ending had lived up to its full potential as I was left wanting more.
As another commenter said, I am concerned this is AI. There were several inconsistencies in the story and a sentence straight up stopped. Followed by a paragraph of a single word: Overloaded.
Also, there needs to be more research done on librarians. The FMC is a librarian, and says several things that are incorrect.
1) Most librarians do not "believe in the Dewey Decimal System and late fees." Dewey was a terrible person and late fees go against the purpose of a library. 2) If the FMC is a university librarian, she wouldn't use Dewey. Academic libraries use the Library of Congress classification system.
Cute lil short story. Good ambience and interesting premise. I've come to realize I need a lot of build up and character development to really enjoy a book. I tried to suspend that knowing this was a short story, but I had a hard time. Still wouldn't mind Dasan falling off my roof, though. 😏
Like other reviews, this does very much seem like Ai written, and with the author’s profile picture at the end of the short story being also Ai generated, I’m disappointed I wasted my time reading ai slop.
I enjoyed it! A nice little Christmas/Solstice mystical magic feel. Nice little palette cleanser for the season thats in it for those of us who like magic and spice.
