A Different Corner

Seth Calder

I came to the Highlands to be left the hell alone. No noise. No people. No past. Just me, the cold, and the only place that still feels like mine. Then she showed up—dripping wet, wrapped in a towel, phone in hand like a deranged spa-influencer, and very much in my kitchen. A rental disaster, she called it. A fucking disaster, if you ask me. Except… she fit. In my space. In my silence. With sweaters that wouldn’t stay on her shoulder and a keyboard warfare that made my PTSD spike.

We argued. We clashed.

And then one night—over too much whisky and a scene she couldn’t write—I offered to help.

It was supposed to be a lesson. Just one night. But not all heat melts with the snow. And some stories don’t start with once upon a time. They begin with... A Different Corner.

Lena Waverly
I came for the quiet.
A cottage in the middle of nowhere, just me, my manuscript, and the hope I could fix my smutspiration problem. Instead, I got him. Tattooed. Shirt-deficient. Brooding and very much Scottish. An ex-soldier with the face of a book boyfriend and the ability to psychoanalyze my entire childhood over one sigh.
He called me bookworm. I called him half-naked and annoying.
We bickered. We bantered.
Until one night, with too much whisky and too little restraint, he offered to help me write the scenes I couldn’t. It wasn’t supposed to mean anything. But I felt it. In every look. Every touch. And when the snow finally stopped… he left.
But this story? It’s not over. It just started—in A Different Corner.

⭐ ARC Review: A Different Corner by Zeya Hart received from W.Griffin Publishing

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/🌶️🌶️🌶️

I absolutely adored this book. It is a warm feelgood romance with the perfect dose of spice and two characters who pulled me in from the start. I read this as an ARC and it was such a treat.

This story gives you all the good stuff: forced proximity, grumpy and sunshine energy, slow burn that genuinely made me kick my feet, and banter that had me laughing out loud. Zeya Harts humor is incredible. Her writing is smooth, vivid, and never too much. She knows exactly how to make a scene hit.

Lena and the Scottish half naked broody ex soldier had the best dynamic. They argued, they bickered, but you could feel the tension through every page. Because of the snowstorm and their cabin in the middle of nowhere, escaping each other was absolutely impossible, and I loved every second of it.

The quote that had me sending screenshots to my friend was:
“So naturally, I did what any rational, emotionally mature but angry woman would do. I texted my best friend.”
Honestly, I felt that in my soul.

I also appreciated how his PTSD was written. It felt real and grounded. I would not have minded seeing a little more of it to deepen his character even more, but what we did get was strong and moving.

The spice is lovely in this one. Slow burn at first, but once it starts, it really starts. Maybe even a bit too much sometimes, but in a fun way that fits the vibe of the story.

I would recommend this book to pretty much everyone. It is sweet, funny, emotional, steamy, and has that perfect cozy winter romance feeling. A Different Corner is the kind of book that wraps around you like a warm blanket while also making you giggle and blush at the same time.

And honestly, I really hope we get more books in this world because Amelia deserves her own story. She was hilarious and stole every scene she was in. I am now officially a huge fan of Zeya and I cannot wait to see what she writes next.

Immerse yourself in the story of Lena and Seth in the wondrous world of Scotland. The bird's-eye view allows you to get to know both characters intimately. At times, you feel as if they are sharing their experiences with you. Zena's writing style is fluid, and she knows how to keep you captivated.

I enjoyed the book from start to finish. I couldn't put it down because I wanted to know the ending. I hope to read more from you, Zena.

ARC time! ARC time! (in the cadence of hear ye, hear ye). I have received an ebook copy of A Different Corner by Zeya Hart through W. Griffin publishing. I have to say I went into this book fairly blind, so no expectations on writing or storyline, but oh my was I positively surprised by this one.

If you know, you know, but it's a romance and though they often are written in the same kind of way, Lena and Seth's story just ended up capturing my interest from the very beginning. We've seen the writers trying to write, but has the problem for the author ever been writing smut in a story? I haven't read it, so I guess it was an interesting way to put a spin on the main character being an author.

Even though everything went fast in the timeline of things, yes I keep track because my brain works like that, I have to say there was definitely a good chemistry between the two. I don't feel like anything was rushed over to get to the smut faster. They got introduced properly. They went through the motions in a logical way and they spend time apart too in this story.

I loved Seth's dry bluntness in the beginning of this story. But as the story progressed, the things that come out of this man's mouth are absolutely delicious, I tell you. My favorite quote was one by him: ‘Sure you’re writing? Or punishin’ the alphabet?’ I snorted loudly at times in this book and this was definitely one of those instances.

This book even gave me goosebumps at times while reading because of how it's written. There's tension fast, yes, but the whole thing gets built up like a slow burn, despite it not being that at all and I can really appreciate that in a book. Did this one make me feel things? YES.

Conclusion: a scrumptious romance novel with a lot of tension and forced proximity, motorbikes and just a Scottish male main character who's delectable. I really enjoyed this romance book, so I recommend it wholeheartedly. I hope to see it do well upon release too!

I was given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC, the first book I've read by Zeya Hart, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The story takes place in the Scottish Highlands. As you drive through beautiful Glencoe towards Skye, you occasionally come across those little white houses perched at the foot of a mountain. Every time I passed one, I wondered who lives there, in the middle of nowhere. But so beautiful!
And that's partly what this story is about. A writer who's lost her inspiration comes to stay for two weeks in the cottage she rented. At least, that's what she expected: to be able to write in peace, undisturbed, and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Nothing could be further from the truth when the cottage's owner unexpectedly walks in. He didn't know his family had rented it out. He's never there anyway because he lives elsewhere. Initially, they don't want to know anything about each other and are incredibly irritated with each other. Because yes, it's his house where she's sleeping now, and to make matters worse, a massive snowstorm arrives that lasts for a few days, and they're snowed in and can't go out at all. And then it's freezing outside, and heat burn inside. 🔥 The spice is good!!! And well written.
The story is beautiful and has depth. The plot is beautifully written, and you can feel the tension building between Lena and Seth. They make good banter to each other, and there's funny humor in it.
Everyone wants Seth as their book boyfriend, with his gorgeous body and sweet words.

This book deserves 5 stars, and I can't wait for Zeya's next book. Preferably with a hot Scot as the lead, of course.

ARC Review: A Different Corner 🏔️📖

A Different Corner is one of those romances that just works. Forced proximity, sharp banter, and a slow burn that simmers until it finally ignites. Lena rents a remote cottage in the Scottish Highlands to work on her novel, unaware that Seth — whose family owns the place — doesn’t know she’s there. When a snowstorm traps them together, tension quickly takes over.

The chemistry between Lena and Seth is undeniable, but what really stood out to me was Seth’s emotional depth. His backstory, his vulnerability, and his bond with Bishop were beautifully written and genuinely moving. And the setting? The Scottish Highlands feel like a character of their own: atmospheric, isolating, and perfect for this story.

If you love enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and character-driven romance with heart, this one deserves a spot on your TBR. 💛

ARC Review – A Different Corner by Zeya Hart. I received this book from W. Griffin Publishing

I went into this book completely blind, and honestly? What a ride. It started a little slow for me, but once it picked up, it picked up.

Lena is a sweet, slightly lost author looking for inspiration—and she just happens to find it in a Scot who could fuel anyone’s fantasies. Seth is broody, sexy, possessive, and basically the walking embodiment of “all the right things.” Their chemistry is off the charts from the moment they meet.

The forced proximity? Chef’s kiss. Fireworks, tension, and enough spice to fog up your Kindle. The plot really gets intriguing once Seth becomes determined to restake his claim—and that’s when the story hooked me for good.

And the ending? Let’s just say it was a full-on whirlwind of feelings, and I was absolutely living for it.

Arc review!
(I recieved a digital copy from Zeya Heart through W. Giffin publishing in exchange for an honest review)

The dedication called me a good lass, I blushed....

The cover gave me cozy vibes and I was expecting to feel cozy

When Lena get to the cabin to "cure" her writers block I felt the cozy wrap around me.

Then we meet Seth (who for the rest of the read had a glorious Scottish accent in my head) broody, grumpy, grunty and has an aversion to shirts apparently.

The writing style is good and the pace fast, but it still gives you a sort of slow burn with tension and a push an pull.
There is forced proximity, grumpy - semi sunshine, banter, a best friend with Gilmore Girls adjescent chaos brain, motorbikes, snow storms and a Scottish man with a deliciously dirty mouth.

You know that tiktok where people want to dive into a book? I would want to do this with this book.
So I whole heartedly reccomend it to all Romance readers out there.

HEERLIJK!

A breathtaking love story that completely swept me away ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lena is a romance writer who, ironically, struggles to write love scenes. Hoping to reconnect with her inspiration, she retreats to a small, isolated cabin in Scotland. She expects solitude—but instead walks into the kitchen and finds a naked stranger. That stranger is Seth, the owners’ son, who never got the memo that the cabin was rented for two weeks.

Seth is a former soldier, deeply scarred by his past and living with PTSD. He craves silence, isolation, and control over his safe haven—the cabin. Lena’s sudden presence feels like an invasion, and from the very first encounter, he is cold, harsh, and determined to drive her away. But the unforgiving Scottish weather leaves them with no choice: they are stuck together.

“I can make you feel everything,” I growled, my resolve slipping fast. She shivered, and I felt it like a live current. “Then do it,” she breathed.

What follows is an intense, emotional slow burn. Every chapter is packed with raw feeling. Seth is broken, guarded, and hurting. Lena is full of life—warm, vibrant, and strong-willed, with just the right amount of fire to challenge him. Their dynamic is electric. The tension between them crackles, filling the air with unspoken desire and vulnerability. As they’re forced to coexist, walls begin to crumble, and they slowly learn each other’s wounds, fears, and hopes.

When they finally give in to their feelings, it feels earned, powerful, and deeply moving. Seth shows Lena what it means to be truly seen, cherished, and worshipped—not just physically, but emotionally. Their connection is passionate, intense, and transformative.

“I promise I’ll be gentle,” I murmured, brushing my mouth over hers in a kiss soft enough to make her lashes flutter. I caught her lower lip between mine and sucked slowly. “At first.”

The spicy scenes… oh my god🌶️🌶️🌶️. They were written with so much emotion and intensity. Several chapters are dedicated to them, yet they never feel awkward, forced, or excessive. Instead, they deepen the connection between the characters and make their relationship feel even more raw, intimate, and real.

“Stay with me,” he murmured into the kiss, one palm stroking down my side, over the curve of my hip, the other fitting under my thigh to coax my legs wider. “Let me have ye again.”

This story is a firework of emotions—pain, healing, desire, and love woven together beautifully. A romance that lingers long after the final page.

Thank you W. Griffin Publishing for the gifted eARC

This novel is a charming, atmospheric romance that hooks you from the very first page. With its witty humour and vivid Scottish Highlands setting, it strikes the perfect balance between heartfelt depth and irresistible escapism. Lena, an author searching for quiet and inspiration, retreats to a remote white-stoned cottage—only to discover it already occupied by Seth, a tattooed, shirtless Scotsman who was absolutely not included in the rental description. Their unexpected encounter sets the stage for a slow-burn romance that feels tender, intimate, and wonderfully addictive.

The split perspectives give the story an added layer of closeness, letting readers sink into the emotional landscapes of both characters as their connection grows. Seth’s past is complicated and painful, making him someone who’s learned to keep others at a distance—until Lena. With her, he is opening doors within himself he thought he’d locked for good. Lena’s writer’s block is cleverly and warmly woven into the story; her time with Seth sparks both creativity and confidence.

Adding to the charm are their best friends: Amelia, Lena’s bold and confident hype woman, who encourages her to go after Seth from the very beginning, and Duncan, Seth’s grounding counterpart. Their presence brings warmth, humour, and balance without overshadowing the central romance.

The snowstorm that traps Lena and Seth together acts like a pressure cooker—drawing them closer, peeling back their layers, and giving them the quiet, isolated space to grow into something neither of them expected. The chemistry builds beautifully, leading to vivid, emotional scenes that are passionate without ever feeling gratuitous.

This story has everything: atmosphere, tension, humour, emotional depth, and the kind of character dynamics that make you wholeheartedly invested. It’s easy to see this becoming a viral BookTok favourite. Charming, intimate, and engaging from the very first chapter, it’s a romance you’ll think of long after you’ve finished.

A Different Corner is a book that quietly snuck up on me to be honest. It's cozy, warm and charming at first. Knowing me being a darkie, it was surprising when I suddenly realized I was fully invested, laughing out loud, and fanning myself at the same time.

A writer escaping to a Scottish cabin in the middle of nowhere for peace and smutspiration… only to discover that she isn't alone and the actual owner is completely unaware it’s been rented out. What follows is a package of delicious banter between them. The words that were thrown to each other made me cackle so loud at times. Then both of their best friends were fantastic. Even though they were side characters, I completely loved them. I feel like Duncan and Amelia need their own stage and a book.

Zeya gave those hallmark movies a run for their money with this book. The awkward moments and misunderstandings felt real rather than forced. And once things got spicy? I was hanging onto every word. It’s fun, it’s steamy, and their chemistry practically lights up the page. The journey they go through to get to the end was delightful to read and perfect for a good cozy read.

What got me the most, though, is that this is Zeya Hart’s debut. The writing feels confident and it feels like there had been many before. I can recommend this one for anyone who would love to escape to a cozy cabin with a moody fuzzy scot.

If you love grumpy/sunshine vibes, Former military man, best friends that give you that push you seriously need, forced proximity and books that hit you with some steamy content, A Different Corner is absolutely worth picking up. I’m already excited to see what this author does next. Great way to start off in the writing world.

“Patience, bookworm. When I taste you... I want ye to remember it every time you close your eyes.”

Lena Waverly came for the quiet, a cottage in the middle of nowhere, just me, my manuscript, and the hope I could fix my smutspiration problem.
Seth Calder came to the Highlands to be left the hell alone. No noise. No people. No past. Just me, the cold, and the only place that still feels like mine. Then she showed up—dripping wet, wrapped in a towel, phone in hand like a deranged spa-influencer, and very much in my kitchen. A rental disaster, she called it. A fucking disaster, if you ask me. I loved this story, usually I don’t really fall for the feelgood romantic holiday stories but this one stole my heart. The way the author paints you this world is so real that you can almost smell the snow and the fireplace. Lena en Seth are amazing, they are so different but yet they feel like 2 peas in a pot. Plus it’s written for this time of the year, is gives Christmas vibes and a little bit of beauty and the beast. I had the giggles and I cried my eyeballs out, I just got all the feels.

I give this book 4 stars, there is are Scottish words and that got my out of the story at times. Luckily the author put in a Dictionary just so you can search it up, if you get lost. I really hope there is gonna be a sequel but then with Amelia and Duncan, I see it happen in my head! If you like books that are like the movie “The Holiday” this is the book for you!

If a book starts with “Good lass,” you already have my heart.

Mine.
Aye, my wee bookworm. Yours.
For as long as ye’ll have me—and the eternity after that.

I received a digital copy from W. Giffin Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

OMG—what a ride! I loved every single page, every minute of this book.

The story follows Lena, an author struggling with writer’s block, who rents a cottage in search of some much-needed smutspiration. At the cottage, she meets Seth—who spends a very generous amount of time walking around shirtless. They start spending time together, and before long, Seth becomes exactly what Lena needs to reignite her creativity.

This book checked all the boxes for me:
✨ Slow burn? Yes!
🔥 Spicy? Hell yes!
❤️ True love? Give me more!

I couldn’t get enough of reading about Seth and Lena. I’ll admit, at first it took me a moment to fully get into the story—mainly because of the Scottish dialect, which I had to get used to. But once I did? There was no stopping me.

I absolutely loved watching the relationship between the main characters grow. The way they slowly gravitate toward each other, how naturally they get to know one another, and how they allow themselves to be truly seen. The depiction of Seth’s PTSD was beautifully done, and I loved how Lena could soothe him simply by looking at him—such a tender and powerful connection.

You do need a bit of patience before the spice truly kicks in, but once it does… whew. Let’s just say the sparks were flying, and my smoke alarm almost went off! I thoroughly enjoyed this love story—there were sighs, there were tears, and now I’m left wanting so much more of Seth and Lena.

Please… can we have more? 💙📚

Ok ok I went in blind, but as a huge hallmark fan who can resist a Scottish snow in?? Definitely not me and this book made me want to be locked in a small Scottish cottage more than ever.

The characters were so relatable, from a Scottish grump (my dad's Scottish so can confirm that is very normal) with a sharp witty tongue that will make you belly laugh and also make you blush. Watching him wrestle his ptsd demons not just from his military background but also from his so called family just made me want to protect him and hold him too.

Lena is a struggling author looking for "smutspiration" and by god did she find it. With the mix of gaelic, good girl/lass I'm not surprised her underwear was constantly wet

Then even though i knew what was coming it didn't stop me crying even to the point of my husband asking if I was ok , yes Seth did exactly what you know be was going to but how else can he redeem himself and grow

All I can say is take my money, lock me up in the Scottish cottage with a clawfoot tub and I think I'll be as happy as Lena because damn her life is already almost perfect being a romance author with a bookshop ffs. Some girls have all the luck and if Zeya has based this on her own life in anyway...you go girl!

Im so grateful to have had the opportunity to get an advanced copy from W Griffin publishing and Zeya Hart and cant wait to see how it goes for Amelia and Duncan because im really hoping this is a series!

Thank you, W. Griffin publishing for this amazing ARC! This book had all the ingredients I absolutely love: a FMC who writes smutty romance books, an ex-military MMC, a cabin in the middle of nowhere during a snowstorm, plenty of spicy scenes, and some heartbreaking emotional moments.🥹

I definitely had a soft spot for this story and really enjoyed it. The writing flowed nicely and it genuinely made me laugh out loud. I really loved the characters and their banter and “Bookworm” is officially my new favorite nickname in romance books. It sounded so cute and so funny to me. This was one of those reads that just pulls you in. I constantly found myself wanting to pick it back up and keep reading.

I was completely hooked during the first 35%, but after that I did start to feel like things became a bit repetitive. At times it felt like I was reading the same moments over and over, which pulled me out of the story at some point and that was a bit disappointing for me because I really liked the story. I honestly think that if the book had been a bit shorter, the middle part wouldnt have felt dragged out, the ending would’ve hit better and that I would’ve rated it higher.

For now, I’m giving it 3.5⭐️ (but rounded up to 4) because I did enjoy it overall. I’ll definitely be picking up more books from this author in the future!😍

ARC review!: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This book did not ask for permission before it wrecked me emotionally and heated up my soul.

Slow burn? Yes.
Emotional tension? Painfully good.
That kind of chemistry where one look feels illegal? Absolutely.

Zeya Heart knows exactly how to build desire without rushing it. Every charged moment feels earned… The aching, the wanting, the hesitation, the “we shouldn’t but we absolutely will.” The romance simmers until it boils, and when it finally explodes… it’s worth every page of waiting.

But don’t get it twisted, this isn’t just spice for the sake of spice. There’s depth, healing, broken pieces trying to fit together again and characters who feel real enough to hurt for. The emotional intimacy hits just as hard as the physical tension.

If you love your romance:
🔥 enemies to lovers
🔥 slow-burn
🔥 emotionally intense
🔥 soft but filthy and humorous
🔥 and painfully addictive

I loved the fact how the FMC made a screenshot and send it to her best friend 😂 that def made it real …this one belongs on your shelf and in your heart.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ / 5
Not full-on explicit or every chapter spice… but the tension is criminal, the payoff is chef’s kiss, and the emotional intimacy makes everything hit harder. This is the slow burn that ruins your peace level of spice.

ARC Review

The book starts off with a dedication... and let me tell you: if the dedication is already telling you that you're a “good lass” well you got me!

The book starts with our FMC, Lena. Lena is a writer and has some kind of writers block on her upcoming book. With the deadline fast approaching, she booked a cabin in Scotland to isolate herself to write. The family that's renting her the cabin forgets to tell our MMC, Seth, that the cabin is rented. You see where this is going.... they end up in the cabin at the same time.

The characters are very well put together and we get a fair dose of background from these two to paint their characters. To be honest, they are adorable. Seth and Lena start of as two grumps because, well they end up in the same cabin at the same time. As the time progresses they start to tolerate each other.

The book has a good dose of humor in it, but also touches tougher subjects. I like it when a book is not only sunshine and daisies.

The whole time I was reading the book from Seth's perspective I could not hear anything else than a hot Scotsman whispering in my ear. I happen to like a Scottish accent, so that was a good thing.

This book was a feel good romance that ends in a HEA, I very much enjoyed reading this book.

A Different Corner – Zeya Hart

I got an ARC of A Different Corner wow I loved it! The main characters are so well developed - they feel so real to me they jump off the pages and their chemistry is palpable. Their romance somehow feels like a slow burn even though most of the story takes place over the course of only a few days.

Seth Calder has everything you could want in a book boyfriend - tattooed, rides a motorcycle, good with his hands, dark and broody, has an accent, but more importantly he sees Lena, notices the small things she does, appreciates her, and apologizes to her when he messes up.

Lena is sassy, warm, a little self deprecating, but knows how to stand up for herself. Honestly, I liked her! And I have to mention Amelia. Lena’s bestie is such a hoot and I secretly hope there is a second book coming about her.

I was absolutely hanging on every word and simply couldn’t get enough of this story, the writing, these characters, their banter, and the heat between them.

Read this book if you love a chai latte - something warm and comforting but with a good amount of spice. The ending was very satisfying as well!

Vibe check: 🧶🫖🧖🏼‍♀️🌨️🏔️
Tropes: forced proximity, snowed in

Quietly Emotional & Beautifully Human

A Different Corner is a tender, reflective story that gently tugs at the heart. Zeya Hart writes with a soft but striking honesty, weaving a narrative about choices, healing, and the moments in life that change us more than we expect. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t scream for your attention—it simply settles in, unfolds slowly, and leaves a lingering warmth behind.

The characters are beautifully flawed and deeply relatable. Their emotions—messy, hopeful, painful, and real—are written with the kind of vulnerability that makes you pause. Hart’s writing style is poetic without feeling forced, and every chapter feels like a quiet step toward understanding oneself.

If anything, I found myself wanting just a bit more depth in certain relationships, but the simplicity is also part of the book’s charm. It’s reflective, heartfelt, and grounded in the small but meaningful moments of life.

A gentle, emotional read that reminds you that every corner turned offers a chance for something new. 💛📖

I rated this book 4.5🌟

If you love tropes such as:
Forced proximity
Grumpy/sunshine MMC
Snowed in
Scottish setting

If any of these appeal you will adore this book. This was a fun quick read that I devoured in 24hrs. It gave me fabulous feel good, cosy, “The Holiday” movie vibes.
We have our FMC travelling to Scotland and hiring a cottage in the highlands to give herself space and tranquility to finish writing her book as she’s hit a slump.
She’s relaxing in her cottage when she here’s noises she gingerly approaches the kitchen only to find a shirtless rather attractive man standing in her kitchen! Turns out his estranged family took it upon themselves to rent the cottage out without informing him, knowing he stays at the cottage regularly. Yes you’ve guessed it we have secrets and trauma he’s ex military.
Now what do they do?? Is he an unaliver? She knows nothing about him and to say he’s not impressed would be an understatement. To make matters worse a storm of all storms blows in and they find themselves snowed in for a wee. We experience their initial clashes of personalities but as the week goes on we see them getting to know each other, will there be chemistry? Will they pursue more than friendship? You will have to read it to find out😁.
Thank you to the author and W Griffin publishing for allowing me to read this book.

This story had me so invested, pretty much right from the start. I love the idea of going to a cabin out in the woods of Scotland, sitting in front of a nice fire, curled up on a couch. The solitude would be amazing. And that is what Lena was going for. Solitude to write her book, which was already behind schedule, mostly because she was a fade to black writer who had to learn to put spice in her books. Little did she know that her inspiration would be in a grumpy, ex-military, motorcycle riding and building Scot, who owned the cabin, and had no idea that his family had rented his home out to someone.

Side note: his family is a bunch of a$$holes, most of all Sophie.

The heart of the story, and characters, had me so intense while reading, and so distraught at times, that laughter bubbled from my lips, breathing came sharp at the spice, and tears were threatening to stream down my face at a few intense moments. I felt right there, in that cabin, in their shoes.

This book has so much soul, and a good dose of spice, making you warm all over.

Beautifully written. I loved it!

I received the ARC eBook of A Different Corner by Zeya Hart — and what a beautiful story this turned out to be.

Lena is an author who rents a small cottage in Scotland for two weeks, hoping to find peace, quiet, and inspiration to work on her book. But then there is Seth — a Scottish ex-soldier, built like a Viking god, covered in scars and tattoos, and giving total Henry Cavill vibes. 🔥

From the very first page, Zeya Hart pulls you straight into the story. You can truly see the cottage in front of you, feel the atmosphere, and even experience the snowstorm as if you were there yourself.

A Different Corner is a beautifully written romantic feel-good story where you really get to know both Lena and Seth on a deeper level. Their connection feels real, emotional, and intense.

And yes… there is definitely spice — quite a lot of it — and it fits the story perfectly. 🔥
A warm, romantic, emotional read that swept me away from start to finish. Highly recommended!

Lena has booked a little cottage in the Highlands of Scotland, hoping to find the inspiration for her new book. Upon arriving at her little secluded getaway, she finds she's not alone in renting the place.
Seth, owner of the cottage is not amused when he finds his home broken into. His family has rented out his place without him knowing. With the storm howling outside the place they decide to make the best of it.

I could hear Seth talking to me from the pages of the book. Thick Scottish accent telling you you're a bonnie lass. Loved the Scottish phrases scattered in the book. The banter between Lena and Seth made me giggle. Thoroughly enjoyed myself getting lost in the book. Well written, definitely a must read if you're into hot Scottish men. The spice was mixed in well and felt vital to the story.

ARC received from W Griffin Publishing

This cozy romance was such a treat to read. I couldn't put it down, I was completely captured by it. (Also because I love Scotland and this takes place in the Scottish Highlands.)

It has all the ingredients for a good romance. A writer that doesn't really know how to write steamy scenes, a hot Scottish man, being trapped in a snowstorm together, and a good depth to the story.

Lena and Seth have a great chemistry and there were some really fun moments between them. There is banter, emotional depth and a very enjoyable romance (and spice) between them. Lena is super sweet and warm as a character and Seth is broken and suffering from PTSD. Together they work very well.

I absolutely loved this book and would absolutely recommend it if you're a fan of feelgood romance novels.

ARC Reader Review:
I give this book 3.5/5 stars. The premise of this book is great--struggling author rents a cottage in the Scottish Highlands to end up being stuck isolated with an ex-soldier for a few days due to a blizzard. Lena is struggling with writing spicy scenes in her novel and Seth is dealing with a past that haunts him. They can't fight the undercurrent of chemistry and there is A LOT of spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. This book was well written, emotional, heart touching, and has an HEA. Lena and Seth help each other overcome obstacles holding them back from each other and their future. The only thing I can say is I wish the book hadn't been so long. It took me much longer to read than I would have liked but other than that if you like a feel good, sappy romance, full of spice this book is for you.

I was able to ARC reading this book and let me tell you..This forced proximity romance is the perfect snow day read! I couldn’t put it down.

Writer Lena, hilariously struggling to pen believable smut, finds herself snowed in with Seth, a handsome, rugged, and intense hunk of a man. The immediate chemistry is electric, but the story is more than just steamy.

Seth is dealing with issues from War, and his brokenness is a key element. Zara Hart delivers a compelling balance of high heat and emotional depth.

A solid 4-star book that is definitely worth the read for fans of the cozy, angsty, and highly romantic.

A Different Corner isn’t just a book you read, it’s a book you get pulled into. The witty banter between Lena and Seth and the emotions that we felt before they even knew they were there is something that can’t be truly described. I can just say I loved everything about it!

I laughed, teared up, kicked my feet giggling, got angry and I’m sure I experienced other emotions I can’t think of at the moment while reading this book. At times I even had myself convinced I knew Scottish (as I then slowly flipped back to the dictionary in the front)! Amazing from beginning to end, even if I didn’t want it to end!!

This book delivers a full spectrum of emotions: happiness, heartbreak, frustration, sass, and yes, plenty of spice. The author’s writing effortlessly draws you into the world of Lena and Seth, making their emotional journey feel vivid and immediate. Their chemistry is palpable, and Seth’s grumpy, thick-skinned Scottish charm is both infuriating and irresistible. It’s impossible not to get swept up in their tension, their tender moments, and all the heat in between. An engaging read that leaves you wishing for a hunky Scottish biker of your own.
