"Yule Never Sleep Again" is an outstanding holiday horror anthology, containing nine tales and one poem, all around the theme of Christmas carols. It's a celebration of the darker aspects of the Christmas holidays, highlighting how easily a time of festivity and joy may suddenly reveal an underlying sense of distrust, hopelessness and inner emptiness.
The poem ("God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen") is by Lee Richmond, the stories by Kelvin V.A Allison ("Hark the Herald Angels" - cosmic/cult horror), Caroline Oliver ("Away in A Manger" - gory pregnancy horror), Jerry Blaze ("Good King Wenceslas" - dark supernatural historical horror), Lula Von Goth ("The Holly and the Ivy" - gory supernatural horror), Dustin Allen ("Oh Come All Ye Faithful" - shocking supernatural horror), Ashley Todd ("While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night" - angel horror), Summer Bosley ("Joy To The World"- religious cult horror), Erica Hart ("We Three Kings of Orient Are" - reality TV horror), and Lolly Sparrow ("Silent Night" - pregnancy horror), in that order.
The ones I enjoyed most were Allison's story, a creepy tale of Christmas celebrations transforming into something sinister and darker as witnessed by the teenage main character; Sparrow's awesome story of a female morgue employee spending Christmas Eve at work, unprepared for the awful night waiting her; Blaze's tale of a medieval king and his young page facing the supernatural; and Von Goth's nasty employment of the creepy child trope in her story of Irish lore and motherhood.
I highly recommend the anthology both for its unusual theme and its supreme grasp of the shadows haunting the Christmas holidays!
