In the battle for power, traitors glamor themselves in plain sight.
Malakai and I shed our shackles with a combined spell and generational curse, destroying our prison in the process. However, the life that greets us is not what I expect. Not only do I discover I’d always lived among magic and inhumans, but also that two centuries have passed since I’ve been in the human realm. Adapting to a different world is challenging, but not as much as navigating my feelings for Malakai. What started as a self-serving arrangement for revenge is becoming something more than we bargained for. There’s no time for a heart-to-heart, though, when we are threatened at every turn. A malicious presence is stalking me, slipping through our wards and undermining my magic, and there are strange happenings among Malakai’s trusted circle. With a rising body count, loyalties are called into question as it becomes harder to tell who’s trustworthy. When secrets unravel and enemies reveal themselves, we must depend on friends and unstable alliances alike to overcome plots for our demise. While the future is never guaranteed, I will fight until my last breath for the happy ending I deserve.
Resurrection is book two in the Lost Souls duet and should be read after Rebirth. This book is a dark paranormal romance with horror elements. Please check trigger warnings before reading.
Agnes Henbane is a writer of dark paranormal romance and dark romance, writing about morally gray heroes and heroines.
She collects special edition books, reads more than she writes and is a little bit of a tea snob, but won’t say no to a delicious cup of coffee either. Born and raised in Belgium, English isn’t her first language but to her it’s the only language that books speak.
Thank you Agnes Henbane and Lovenotes PR for the eARC
I enjoyed this book more than the first one, I loved that this book was a dual POV. Resurrection is a dark, paranormal romance with horror elements. Book one is an enemies to lovers with a marriage of convenience and this book navigates the feelings between Elly and Malakai.
Having Malakai’s POV in this book allowed me to connect with his character more and understand him. He is very possessive of Elly and he cares for her greatly. Elly is vengeful and it’s fun to see her use her magic more and see more of her capabilities.
I liked the idea that Elly discovers that she has always lived in a world with magic and inhumans and I liked that it had been over two centuries since she had been in the human realm. It was good to see her navigating new ways of life. I rated this book 3 stars because I thought it was good but I personally found it to be a little bit repetitive in some parts.
Respectfully, Agnes… shut up 😂 THIS WAS SO GOOD. I absolutely love Resurrection!!!
I’m not typically a huge fantasy reader, but the way Agnes writes is unreal. Her words paint scenes so vividly that you feel like a fly on the wall. Which is perfect as this book has so much going on. The plot was absolutely plotting. Add in a dual POV and I was DONE FOR. I genuinely didn’t want to put this book down, but unfortunately real life demanded things like sleep and going to work… rude.
The story picks up exactly where Rebirth left off, with the prison escape. But very quickly, it becomes clear that things aren’t the same as Malakai left them and the world is not what Aeliana remembers. As they try to make sense of everything, the situation spirals into something much deeper. Without giving anything away, just know you will be hooked and taken on one hell of a ride.
Aeliana remains a strong, intelligent FMC, and I love that her independence is still very much intact. We also get to see her growth in her magic, her relationship with Malakai, and that constant, nagging feeling that something just isn’t right.
Malakai is an obsessive, powerful MMC who will absolutely make you swoon. The addition of his POV was really amazing. It adds so much depth, allowing you to truly understand his emotions, his past, and what he wants for his future, especially as he works to reclaim control of the company he leads.
Shout out to Alix & Desiree for being hysterical, savage & true friends!
Overall, Resurrection is incredible. You’ll be shocked, excited, emotionally crashing out, and then kicking your feet while smiling at your phone (Kindle, book… you get it). Do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR as you will not be disappointed.
Huge thank you to Agnes Henbane and Lovenotes PR for the ARC. I was thrilled when I got the email and even more so after finishing Resurrection. It was truly an honor to read.
Resurrection is a gripping and emotionally charged read that fully lives up to its name. Agnes Henbane takes readers on a powerful journey of survival, healing, and reclaiming one’s strength after everything has been torn apart. The characters are layered, raw, and incredibly real. Their pain, resilience, and growth are written with such honesty that it’s impossible not to feel connected to them. This book doesn’t shy away from the darker moments, but it balances them beautifully with hope, determination, and the promise of something better. What stood out most to me was the emotional intensity. Every setback and breakthrough felt earned, making the journey toward healing deeply satisfying. The writing is immersive and evocative, pulling you into the story and keeping you invested until the very last page. If you love emotionally driven stories about second chances, inner strength, and rising from the ashes, Resurrection is a must-read. Agnes Henbane delivers a moving, unforgettable story that stays with you long after you close the book. ✨️I received a copy of this book via the author/publisher & I'm reviewing it voluntarily.✨️

Wow, this book was so much more than the first it packed in more plot, more, more twists, and far more character development. The pacing in this book was also better than the first there was no slow parts no intense info dumps, it was easy to read. I’m very engaging.
The biggest thing to know about this book is that it does not shy away from very dark and raw thoughts. Both within the main plot and within the main characters relationship and intimacies.
This book, unlike the first, was dual POV, this enhanced my reading experience tenfold because I finally got to know what was going on in his mind. He’s extremely possessive and obsessive, but also deeply caring and only wants the best for his girl. Throughout this book, we started to understand both the characters past Pain, and watch them learn to overcome their trauma. we saw their many layers and really felt it when they stood up and fought for themselves and each other.
There was so much going on within this plot that you’re always getting some kind of vibes from every page you read. Plenty of anger and hurt., lots of teasing and spice, there was real joy and happiness, and it was a pleasure to unfold every vibe and emotion as we got to know the characters better.
I really appreciated how there was many setbacks and problems throughout their journey and the way they dealt with them together and separately really stood out to me. every time the over came an issue it felt like a big breakthrough for the character, which red as deeply intense and very satisfying.
😥 𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝕟𝕠 𝕗𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕤? Although the plot was strong and the characters had depth, the world building let it down. Also, the hints and nudges that the book gave off lead me to expect a few things from the intimate scenes and the relationship drama which didn’t deliver. For example, I was under the impression the next door neighbours would get a more detailed role in the story…
⏳ 𝕎𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕚 𝕣𝕖-𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕠𝕣 𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕕? Yes I would recommend and I would re read if I was in the right mood, it’s not one I’d pick up to fill a gap, but one I wouldn’t recommend paying grab to fill a need.
🪧𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: This was a very emotionally charged story that far exceeded the first book. The trauma heeling and journey towards self acceptance was intense, the darkness in each of them -both in regular life and in their relationship was palpable and delicious.
I received a copy of this pre-release and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
⭐️⭐️ I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands
⭐️⭐️.5 It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail] Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!
🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥 This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
SPICE SCALE: 🌶️– segsual language and a little on-page action
🌶️🌶️– a lot of segsual language and some on-page open door action, may be occurring a couple of times
🌶️🌶️🌶️– a lot of explicit action and dirty talk, occurring frequently with 2/3 lurvers
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – super graphic and explicit, occurring 4 or more times, can be more grey and taboo themed.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – Kinks and Fet!shism, explicit and super graphic. It is likely to be tushy play, toys, playrooms, and more dark / taboo fantasies and realities.
🔥 Aeliana & Malakai are free… but chaos, secrets & buried enemies follow. Can they survive it all? 💀❤️
📖 Resurrection by Agnes Henbane ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️.5 Horror Paranormal Romance
Tropes: 👼 Angels & demons 🩸 Horror fantasy 💍 Marriage of convenience 🖐️ Touch her and 💀 🖤 Possessive MMC 🔥 Vengeful FMC 🫂 Found family
Resurrection picks up immediately where Rebirth left off, right after Aeliana and Malakai escape the prison. Now back in their own world, Aeliana struggles to adapt to a life centuries removed from the one she knew, while Malakai is forced to step back into the responsibilities of the family and company he left behind. But peace doesn’t last long—mysteries resurface, betrayals unfold, and the past refuses to stay buried as danger slowly closes in around them again.
This book overpowered me. I read it in one sitting. Yeah, I sat there for more than half a day and didn’t even realize time was passing. It’s faster-paced than book one, especially now that the world has opened up beyond the prison. We see new sides of the setting, Malakai’s family, and how his company truly operates, which added so much depth.
The level of detail is honestly impressive. Every scene feels intentional, like it’s laying groundwork for something bigger. Nothing feels wasted. All the mysteries, investigations, and quiet tension slowly stack until everything clicks together at the end—and that payoff? So satisfying.
I really loved how layered the plot is. You can feel how every detail is going to matter later, which makes me even more excited (and nervous) for what’s coming next.
Aeliana is such a strong, badass FMC. She never backs down, never hesitates to fight, and always gives everything she has. Her training shows, her instincts are sharp, and her ability to piece things together is honestly impressive—her hunches are almost always spot on.
Malakai’s POV in this book was one of my favorite parts. Seeing the story through his eyes opens everything up so much more. Watching him slowly fall deeper in love with his wife, seeing how fiercely protective he is, and how far he’s willing to go for the people he loves—it’s such a contrast to the rude, asshole-ish version of him we met in book one, and I loved that growth.
This book is intense, immersive, and emotionally heavy in the best way. I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you Love Notes PR and Agnes Henbane for this ARC 🖤
Rebirth was amazing so I already knew that Resurrection was going to be good but omg what an incredible experience this book was! I highly recommend that you read Rebirth first so you can clearly understand all the things that’ll happen. I definitely enjoyed the second book more than the first, the paranormal and horror aspect was so beautiful done. I loved we have more romance now and that we learn more about the feeling between Elly and Malakai Malakai POV were so good, the way he cares for her was so gentle. Seeing Elly learning more of her abilities and using her magic was so interesting. Usually I’m not a big fantasy reader but I really enjoyed this reading the author’s writing was so good too i highly recommend this book!
Thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for providing me with an ARC.
This one took me a bit to finish, I had a hard time getting into it and felt like a lot of it was repetitive along with the book was too long for me. It was just like the first book, some parts were interesting and other parts weren’t. Other than that, It was nice having Malachi’s POV and to get to know about his character more.
Thank you for the ARC! I really enjoyed reading this book and the unique storyline it followed. I also read through the first book to understand the story. The relationship between both MCs was interesting and I can’t wait to read more books by this author.
Rebirth continues the atmospheric, trauma-heavy tone of the first book, the pacing felt slow for me, I personally wished for more movement and earlier interaction with the central love interest. this wasn’t really for me. thank you love notes for choosing me to receive this arc
Thank you Love Notes Pr for this amazing ARC read!
I truly enjoyed this book! It was a captivating and emotional driven book! This was such a powerful emotionally satisfying book! The depth in which Agnes expressed the book was so powerful and profound! A genuinely beautiful story!
