Kieran Scott is the author of domestic suspense and mystery novels including WISH YOU WERE GONE, REGRETS ONLY and PEOPLE WILL TALK. She has also written several young adult novels, both under her own name and for Alloy Entertainment under the pseudonym Kate Brian. These include the New York Times best-selling PRIVATE and PRIVILEGE series, as well as MEGAN MEADE'S GUIDE TO THE MCGOWAN BOYS and many others. She grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey, attended Rutgers University, and now lives in New Jersey with her husband, two sons and one goofy dog.

✨Book Review- The Getaway✨

Kieran Scott has been one of my auto-buy authors longer than any other author. I love her writing style and how even though there is murder and mystery and suspense, they somehow remain light and quick reads. This is definitely an adult book, but it reads quickly and easily, like YA. And her books always tie the mystery up with a neat little bow and have more twists and turns than a tree. I NEVER know how it’s going to end or who the murderer is! This book was no exception! I DID NOT see that ending coming!

Another of my favorite things about Kieran’s adult novels is they center around people my age. She has truly mastered creating books that age with her readers. I was reading her books back in grade school and high school and I love that as I get older, I can still enjoy her books and relate with her characters (ok I will never be a billionaire with a house in the Hamptons, but you get what I mean).

I would LOVE a mini series where each book follows the Billings girls and shows where they are now (IYKYK). But I’ll read whatever KS writes!

I chose this as my Amazon First Reads book for August. I was definitely not disappointed

I really enjoyed the story. A group of friends gets together for their vacation in the hamptons when things go south. First their host is murdered followed by other murders. While a hurricane rages outside they have to trust each other and try to discover the murderer until the police are able to come. I did not see the twist coming. The twist completely turns what you think is happening on its head

My only complaint for this book is it was hard to follow at times with the multiple POVs. I had to go back a few times to re-read certain sections for things I missed or didn’t understand.

But all in all I am definitely glad I chose this for my Amazon First Reads book. It gripped me from the beginning and made me second guess all of my thoughts on who the murderer was and definitely made me suspect everyone until the end

Chose this for my August first reads and it didn’t disappoint! In the beginning it was a little hard to follow all of the characters and their POVs. I thought it was so silly that each character was married to someone with the same letter of their name but it ended up being super helpful in remembering who was married to who lol. I enjoyed the short chapters and the different POVs had me wanting to keep reading! I thought the ending wrapped up pretty quickly once everything was spilled and was expecting a bigger shock

I really enjoyed this book. There were a few things that could have been moved around (or cut) that I think would have taken it to the next level, but I thought the first 75% of the book was pretty entertaining and I had to stop myself from accidentally pulling an all nighter to see what happens. I will say that the wrap up and the epilogue happen too quickly (and a few loose ends that are never tied up) and don’t really give enough detail to feel satisfying, so that was the only reason it didn’t get five stars from me.

A locked-in mystery thriller!

Hold on because a storm is brewing! A hurricane beats down on this locked-in mystery-thriller. Lots of suspicion and suspense so I couldn’t put The Getaway down. Scott skillfully builds the characters as the storm metaphorically crashes outside the Hampton “Villa.” Murder. Who dunnit? Get comfy so you can read this one through. I’ll bet you can’t put it down either!

My goodness, what a twisty, delicious novel!! My only complaint would be that I want more of the aftermath. I can actually say that I did not have it figured out, not entirely. And more of that darling yap machine, Wintour!! I will definitely be reading more from this author. I could even muster a bit of sympathy for the murderer. Lincoln was such a piece of work.

I do not recommend this book. Every scene was thoroughly unbelievable. It felt like a game of Clue. I do like the author’s descriptive language.
