The epic finale.
It’s all been building to this.
In the last weeks of her pregnancy, Kenna is training Maizie to be an investigator and generally keeping her head down. After all, she isn’t going after Dominatus right now—and maybe not ever. This isn’t a fight she wants to give up, but protecting her unborn child is the most important thing right now. With the family scattered trying to solve this, she and Jax are determined to craft a future that honors their brand of justice and keeps everyone safe.

A missing family.
A deadly betrayal of all they stand for.
One by one her family is caught up in the spidery web of Dominatus. Kenna is determined to save an innocent life she has saved once before—a life in danger because of her connection—the last thing she expects is that nothing is as it seems. With the solid foundation of her faith, she knows she’s never alone. Drawing deeply from the well to find her strength, Kenna chooses to trust God with the outcome.

A legacy.
A fight to the very end.
Facing Dominatus was a task Ramon determined to take on so Kenna and Jax didn’t have to. For all they’ve given him, it’s his turn to give something back. But when the mission goes awry and one of their own is in grave danger, it’s another friend who lays down their life. In the epic climax, the legacy Kenna has built the past few years comes to a head.

And the result is nothing anyone could’ve predicted.

What a climax-filled epic finale Phillips crafted. Every Last Step has multiple POVS, plenty of action, tension, twists and turns, and surprises as the team must figure out who they can trust while bringing down Dominatus once and for all. I enjoyed the team's banter and camaraderie among the team, and the thread Phillips incorporated into the story is well-written. This faith-filled story has some pivotal moments and lessons, including where a friend lays down their life demonstrating the truth of John 15:13.

I can’t believe we’re at the end of this series. Every Last Step had me on my toes the entire time, building tension all the way to a climax and ending that absolutely floored me. The stakes feel higher than ever as Kenna fights to protect her family while trusting her faith in the middle of chaos, and every twist hit with real emotional weight.

It’s hard to say goodbye to these characters and the epic, brilliantly built world they’ve carried through the series. The finale delivers action, sacrifice, and heart in a way that feels both satisfying and unforgettable. I’m still reeling from that ending!

Bittersweet but brilliant!

What a way to finish the Kenna and Jax series! After a few years with these characters I’ve gotten attached, and it’s hard to say goodbye. I read it all in one sitting because it was so good. There was the usual: danger, deaths, characters with questionable loyalties, and enough twists and turns to make me dizzy. I needed tissues. And I hope Kenna and Jax get a mention in future books. It’s been a great series, and this was an outstanding way to finish it!

This is book #15 in the Brand of Justice series and also the last book in this series, but can be read as a standalone book.

This is the first book in the series that I have read and had a bit of trouble at the start but found it had plenty of action and twists and turns to keep me reading and enjoyed it.

I am now thinking of reading the rest of the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. The review expressed here is my honest opinion.

Hope and Renewal

Wow, what a beautiful way to end this series of books! I read every one of them and I've never loved a series as much as I have loved these. Although this last book was a little confusing at times I still couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Thanks so much, Lisa Phillips for writing this amazing series ❤️

Every Last Step, written by Author Lisa Phillips was an amazing tale of right and wrong, truth and lies, safety and fear. Interwoven throughout each word, each paragraph and chapter, as well as throughout the entirety of the book, was the desperate need to be heard, seen and validated. In faith, hope, love and life -- all Kenna Banbury Jaxton wanted was to ensure the world was a safer place for her child and her adopted daughter, Maisie. She knew, in her heart and mind, that the safest place to be was always held in God's arms.

Every Last Step made me realize that yes, those related by blood are physically and emotionally your family. However, through it all, Kenna proved that those who love you as you are, may love you because they're implanted in your heart. Every Last Step saturated my heart the fact the Gods mercy can make all of the doubts and divided awareness of a real heroine like Kenna, and her "true family" stay strong. This varied group of people show love and strength as they fight evil.

I give Every Last Step 5 out of 5 stars for its continued fight against evil, it's hope that the truth will set you free and that Love can overcome darkness. I love how Kenna, Jax, and the others found the will to overcome tyranny and follow the Light, before darkness can descend.

I’m so sad!…😓😉

Such a great way to end the series.. but also bittersweet. I’ll not spoil the story, but I will ask for a Raymond-Zeyla spinoff, even if it’s just 1 or 2 stories…. I am really gonna miss everyone!

I absolutely loved this series until all the Dominatus stuff. I wish it had stuck to Kenna just investigating random crimes and maybe a few corrupt politicians. Everything being tied to Dominatus sucked the fun out of the whole series for me.

Too Many Characters and plots!

I've read every one of these Jenna Banbury books. The last two have gone down a disturbing unrealistic rabbit hole.

Sometimes you just don't realize how things connect. In Every Last Step, Kenna and her family realizes that an old job of hers ties into their present threat. After a girl from Kenna's past goes missing and bodies start appearing left and right, they have to dig deeper to find out what is going on. This time Ramon go his own side adventure trying to integrate into the MSI. Nothing is as it seems in this books. Brace yourselves for a painfully sad death that will break your hearts. Highly recommend this book. Just have tissues on hand!
