A grown up Little Red Riding Hood meets werewolves and witches in a stand alone, adult fantasy romance.
To enter the woods as a human means death… But I am no mere human. They call me, “witch."
As one of the last surviving witches, Faelyn’s sole duty is to keep the protective barriers on the forests where the lykin roam—creatures who can shed flesh for fur—sparing nearby humans from their violent, beastly natures. When she has an unlikely encounter with the rare, primordial spirit of the moon, Faelyn finds herself not only the object of the Wolf King’s desire, but essential to his ability to keep his crown.
Taken to the magical land of Midscape, the Wolf King claims her as his bride to control the moon spirit’s magic that now resides within Faelyn. But Faelyn refuses to resign herself and the spirit Aurora to a life of servitude underneath the king’s cruel rule. Faelyn hatches a dangerous plan for them both to escape and help comes from an unlikely ally.
Evander is the king’s blisteringly handsome, loyal knight, right hand, and Faelyn’s sworn protector…on the outside. But appearances are not what they seem. He plots against the king’s brutality at every turn and helping Faelyn escape will serve these ends. But altruism for Faelyn and the trapped moon spirit isn’t his only motivation… Evander is hiding secrets, and they might change Faelyn’s life forever.
A desperate plot to escape. A brutal king. Ancient powers. And a sworn protector who can’t keep his hands off her… Will she be taken as the Wolf King’s bride? Or will she manage an escape that will free her heart and change her fate forever?
Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!
ELISE KOVA is a USA Today bestselling author. She enjoys telling stories of fantasy worlds filled with magic and deep emotions. She lives in Florida and, when not writing, can be found playing video games, drawing, chatting with readers on social media, or daydreaming about her next story.
A Dawn with the Wolf Knight is a great reimagining of classic fairy tale motifs through a mature, adult lens. Elise Kova delivers a story that blends the "Little Red Riding Hood" aesthetic with a complex world of lykin, ancient spirits, and high-fantasy intrigue. This book focuses on Faelyn, one of the last surviving witches, who finds herself entangled with a primordial moon spirit and subsequently claimed by a brutal Wolf King. The core of the novel’s appeal is the tension between Faelyn and her protector-turned-ally, the enigmatic knight Evander. Their slow-burn romance is layered with secrets and mutual defiance against a tyrannical crown, providing a satisfying "sworn protector" dynamic that Kova’s readers have come to love. The world-building in Midscape remains one of the series' strongest suits. The inclusion of the moon spirit, Aurora, adds a unique magical stake that raises the tension beyond a simple escape plot. Faelyn is a standout heroine—resilient, grounded, and determined to maintain her agency even when powerful forces attempt to treat her as a political tool. If you enjoy adult romantasy with high-quality prose, fated-mate energy, and a heroine who fights back with both magic and wit, this book is a must add to the TBR.
Basic Plot: A witch is entangled with the spirit of the Moon, and must attempt to save the spirit, herself, and a wolf knight from the Lycan king.
Meh. It was ok. The ending felt flat, and the actor playing the MMC was just not as emotive of an actor as GA usually produces. He felt stiff the whole time. Very underwhelming, which made the romance part of the book, which wasn't really the main plot, very hard to get into. There was nothing actively wrong with the story, and the villain was pretty solid, if a bit cartoonish. I think I was just hoping for a bit more from this one, especially as the last in the series.
I was unsure about graphic audio and when I was offered the chance to listen to my favourite book in this series, to review, I jumped at it. I like the cast of voices. Hearing different voices for each character is nice. The cast was a perfect fit. I don't think graphic audio is for me with the sound effects. I found the background noises and music a bit distracting. I still loved it and hearing the story come to life. I did receive a review copy and these thoughts are my own.
THIS latest book in the series was so exciting and left me on the edge of my seat! While the last two books in the Married to Magic series kept me interested in the extensive lore of the universe, they also felt somewhat lackluster in comparison to their predecessors. This book, however, made it worth the journey if just to get to it in the end.
Read. Each. Book. Prior.
It was so beautiful of an ending (this could very well be the finale book of the series if the author leaves it so), and I was left in tears at the end of it!
I didnt realize I hadn't listened to the latest book in Elise Kova's Married to Magic series so as soon as I could I jumped on this train!! I really enjoyed this one, like i did with the others of this series. Urban fantasy just speaks to my soul man haha if she has more to come I'm pumped.
I liked most of the plot, but felt that the writing was weak in so many places. I will say that I enjoyed the soundscape of this Graphic Audio recording immensely; it might just be my favorite sound design in all the Graphic Audio book I've listened to!!
Sad that this will be the final book in the Married to Magic series. I have throughly enjoyed my time listening to these graphic audiobooks. This was a nice edition with a human witch weaver and a lycan. I good story from start to finish with a great cast.
A Dawn with the Wolf Knight is a beautiful and satisfying conclusion to Elise Kova’s “Married to Magic” series. From start to finish, this audiobook felt like a love letter to the world she’s built—rich with magic, emotion, and the kind of slow-burn romance that Elise Kova does so well.
The story is immersive and heartfelt, blending high fantasy, danger, and tenderness in a way that keeps you listening “just one more chapter.” Faelyn is a compelling heroine—strong, resilient, and deeply human—and her journey is both empowering and emotional. The romance is layered and intentional, filled with tension, loyalty, and genuine connection that unfolds at a perfect pace.
Listening to this story brought the magic to life in a special way. The audiobook narration adds depth and emotion to every scene, making the characters feel vivid and real. The quiet moments hit just as hard as the action-filled ones, and the emotional beats land beautifully.
As the final book in the Married to Magic series, this story wraps things up in a way that feels complete, meaningful, and deeply satisfying. It honors the themes of love, choice, and sacrifice that define the series while still standing strong as its own story.
Another amazing book from Elise Kova and a wonderful way to close out a beloved series. If you’re a fan of romantasy, magic-filled worlds, and slow-burn romance with heart, this audiobook is an absolute must-listen.
I feel like I waited so long to listen to the dramatized adaptation of this book, and I have to admit to being a little bit let down. I’ve never really been a huge fan of the books in this series, while there have been a few that I’ve enjoyed, so maybe that shouldn’t be all too surprising. I think the biggest drawback for me was that I just wasn’t really interested in the conflict - at least the whole “being claimed as Conri’s (excuse my spelling) bride” aspect of it.
I did enjoy Aurora’s character and thought it was a nice change of pace for this series to feature a primary female character besides the lead. It was nice to see their friendship develop over the course of the story. The magic system was also very interesting. The way that Faelyn interacts with the spirits and the natural world, plus the magic woven into her cloak, added a compelling level to the story.
I originally read A Dawn with the Wolf Knight and really enjoyed it, but getting the chance to listen to the audiobook made me fall for the story all over again in a different way. There’s something about hearing the world and the emotions out loud that pulled me in more deeply than my first read. I found myself more focused, more connected to the characters, and honestly just having a great time being back in this world.
What impressed me most was the narrator. Even though there’s only one, she gives every character their own voice—distinct enough that I never had to stop and figure out who was talking. It added a layer of personality and nuance that I didn’t realize I was missing the first time around.
Revisiting this story through audio reminded me why I liked it so much to begin with, and the performance made it feel fresh without losing the comfort of familiarity. If you’ve already read it, the audiobook is absolutely worth the revisit. And if you haven’t read it yet… audio might be an even better place to start.
Voice acting- 4 stars Story-3 stars Plot twist - negative 10 stars. It was so absurd that I had to stop listening for a whole day. Shame on the author for such a ridiculous and unbelievable twist.
