An apocalyptic LitRPG adventure where power is earned and every ability, attribute, and skill point matters.
Step 1: Save himself. Step 2: Save the world. Nick thought his dreams had come true when the System came to Earth. He watched his civilization burn to ash eleven minutes later. But as bad as the apocalypse was, the Mad God Taltos is worse.
He plucked Earth from the heavens and plunged into the beating heart of the labyrinth. A twisting maze of worlds, dimensions, and other planes of existence. Where the rules of the System have been warped by an insane deity and his maleficent minions.
Nick and his fellow survivors must fight to reclaim the world of their birth. To rise from the ashes and find their place in a multiverse filled with magic and monsters, marvels and horrors beyond their wildest imagination.
The odds are long, and Nick has no choice but to go all in. But even when the deck is stacked against him, Nick always plays to win.
From the bestselling author of Skill Eater, experience this gritty, slowburn, apocalyptic LitRPG with a multi-dimensional twist.
Read LABYRINTH OF THE MAD GOD if you
• Zero-to-hero MC
•A LitRPG where power is earned.
•Every ability, attribute, and skill point matters.
•A visceral, magical System you won’t need a spreadsheet to follow.
Couldn't finish the book and had to tap out in the middle of chapter five. It was absolutely painful to read (which is odd because I love a different series by this author).
The MC Nick; He is a overweight soft man in his 20s that graduated from college to become a "professional" RPG player. He is very much anti violence, anti confrontation, and is pretty much afraid of everything. A "Mad God" hacks the universal system "apparently very easily" and grabs earth for his own amusement. Nick is put in an impossible tutorial, and through very lucky events survives. Nick increases his attributes, but he works on dexterity and sword precision a lot. Towards the end of this long book he still falls, trips, and stumbles on almost anything in his path despite his high dexterity. He also has developed one move with his sword, the overhead wild slash. There are a few interesting parts, but most of the book is Nick's self reflection of everything! He is basically the only character, and the book suffers greatly because of that point. Anyone looking for a fast paced exciting book that is hard to put down, skip this one.
As someone who reads a lot of system apocalypse novels this one really stands out. The MC is a realistic dude, the fight scenes are super well done, the hints at the plot behind the plot are intriguing. Low on system screens for a good reason, and very much a show don't tell.
All in all one of the most enjoyable books I have read from a new author in a while.
Very earned progression with a likeable protagonist. He grows in an inhospitable environment whose challenges grow with him. But, he's able to get strong and stronger, though he is definitively not OP. If you want a competent, likeable MC who is a survivor that uses anything and everything at his disposal, this is your story.
Amazing read! Can you survive the trials of a SS Ranked God who is insane?
Had me on the edge of delight and anguish, rooting for the poor bullied human, will he survive a deal with an entity worse than the Devil? Looking forward to book 2
Good start. I really liked the magic system. It felt more ridiculous. I’m happy to see a character not instantly getting into 100s of stat point. The concept was interesting. There were some cliche elements like the bathrobe. The story was interesting though.
Fantastic story and setting! The author really dug in and developed the character and showed the pain of an apocalypse instead of the trope or instant power... Or any at all.
