When wild-at-heart Jess lands her dream job at a boutique flower shop in the big city, she’s ready to turn over a new leaf. To truly celebrate, she spends a magical evening out on the town with her besties, and ends up in bed with a handsome hunk who feels like fate. But her spontaneous one-night stand with a charming stranger ends with her being kicked to the curb faster than a wilted daisy.
She thought what they had was special, but Jess will find someone else, she always does.
Except fate isn’t done with her yet. Because the man who kicked her out with no explanation? He's her infuriatingly handsome new boss, and a single dad who’s sworn off love. She can’t even look him in the eyes, yet she has to spend every day with him.
Now Jess has to will she nip it in the bud before it costs her everything, or take the risk and see if this unexpected romance can blossom into something real?

ARC review- I loved coffee people and I was so so excited for Flower People and Ashley did not disappoint. This book was so heart warming and beautifully written. Definitely 10/10 recommend!
I loved Coffee People and have been so excited for Jess to get her ow story. I went in blind, not knowing any tropes so or made me so happy to see single dad. I truly believe you can’t go wrong with a single dad trope but when you add in the cutest found family the author created- swoooon. I loved the daughter, Jules, the continuous acts of fate bringing the main characters together, and the grumpy nosey neighbor Phyllis. I prayed for them to get past their banter for a deeper relationship and it didn’t disappoint. There was spice in this one despite the deceiving animated cover but definitely nothing over the top. Super cute, quick read and set y nicely for the next characters to get their own story. I loved it and binged it in a day -highly recommend ❤️

I truly enjoyed this second installment of the Brew, Blooms & Books series. Going on this journey with Jess in her new life and healing with Julian was my favorite part of the whole thing. Watching Jess grow and mature just by finally stepping out on her own and Julian being able to heal through knowing Jess, with little nudges from his family and friends. And Jules? The cutest little and so sassy. This is a great book to consider if you are needing a quick read, that will make you smile and laugh!
Tropes: 💐 big city romance 💐 one night stand 💐 employee x boss 💐 single dad 💐 grief
I absolutely LOVE: ❤️ this short, sweet and spicy series ❤️ quick read
My favorite quote: "I'm sure it's every florist's favorite part, but taking pieces and making something whole, something beautiful, makes my heart happy. It makes me feel like, maybe someday I'll be whole. Like maybe someday someone will take my broken pieces, combine them with theirs, and make something beautiful."
My thoughts: Short, sweet AND spicy!
This book was the PERFECT sequel! It has the core group of characters from Coffee People, while sprinkling in new faces and tropes. Plus, it’s refreshing to read these short, sweet and spicy books in-between your Sarah J. Maas (if you know what I mean, *cough* Crescent City *cough*). Each book has a special place in my heart though. Flower People just really makes me feel good.
One night of fun in a new city, that’s all it was supposed to be…
Jess is basically the opposite of Sarah, which is her older sister and FMC #1 of this series. It only adds to the antics and “uh oh” moments that she seems to get herself into. Like oops, I accidentally slept with my new boss the first night in a big, unassuming city. It honestly had me flashing back to Grey’s Anatomy when she walks into Seattle Grace as a new intern. Jess and Meredith coming in HOT! Very McDreamy!
It’s okay to not be okay.
My final thoughts revolve around how Ashley wrote Julian and Jules. Their grief and inability to move forward was genuine. We’ve all been victims to grief and the mind-numbing nature of it… but Ashley put it into words. Julian ends-up coming around, but not right away and not without the guilt. I appreciated the way it was written with care and regard. Just bravo! This was a breath of fresh air. Again.
Ashely Claire, you amazing human being. Your writing keeps getting better and better.
This is the second book in the Brew, Blooms, and Books series. You do not have to read the first book if you do not want to. It is an interconnected standalone series. I, however, recommend reading the first book so you don't have that love story spoiled for you.
Jess has landed the job of her dreams in the big city. This is her first big girl job and also her first time away from her family. There is a sense of proving that she is growing while also dealing with a huge possible mistake. She slept with a very handsome older man the night before her first day of work. Come to find out, this gentleman is the owner of the flower shop she now works at.
Julian is attempting to get out there again after the passing of his wife 5 years ago. He has dedicated most of that time to raising their beautiful daughter. His friends have finally gotten him to leave he house and spend time with them. He freaks out the next morning because the beautiful woman he slept with is still in his bed and his kid is on the way home from Grandmas and he doesn't know if he is ready to move on.
Will these two be able to figure things out to make work less awkward? Hopefully you will when you read this book.
Thank you, Ashley Claire, for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved it so much and I cannot wait to read what happens next with these spunky leading ladies.
“I friend zoned Jess thirteen minutes ago, and now she is hamming it up with some idiot in a Kansas City Chiefs shirt.”
Flower people was the perfect small town, adorably sweet rom com palate cleanser I’ve been needing! It had the all cute kicking and squealing vibes that I need every now and then. In the follow up to Coffee People, we have Jess- sister to Sarah from coffee people- who has just moved to the city to get her dream job and really find her footing in the world on her own. She’s a little bit chaotic and unsure of what she is looking for in her new town. She goes out with her friends on her first night and finds a hottie who gives her an unforgettable night. In the morning he says you gotta go and Jess is left reeling. Luckily she has a new job to start but lo and behold her boss is Mr. Hottie from last night 🫣 Julian, owns a flower shop that was left to him from his wife’s untimely passing, he has been grieving for five years and has spent his time devoted to the shop and his daughter. When he finally goes out with the guys he doesn’t expect to meet someone. The next day when he discovers he can’t avoid what happened since she is now HIS EMPLOYEE he is in deep. These two have adorable banter, sweet moments, and a ton of emotional growth. This was a quick read and a really enjoyable story. I definitely recommend! I can’t wait for book people and are we getting a Christmas book?!? Because I need to know more about taylor and Stephen 👀
“It’s the perfect night, but my mind keeps drifting off to a six foot tall muscular hottie with a magical tongue. As much as I fight it, I can’t stop thinking about him.”
Julian is a grieving single dad, just doing his best, and Jess is the last complication that he wants, until he realizes she might be exactly what he needs. Julian’s story ruined any emotional stability I had, while Jess tried to tape it back together with flower crowns. You can’t help but root for Jess and Julian. Their connection feels so raw and real, just two people trying to deny the chemistry between them, in order to protect their hearts. Don’t even get me started on the cutest little 6 year old girl who ties it all together. Flower People is sweet, emotional and a little messy, but all in the best way possible.
I truly enjoyed this book. After reading Coffee People, I needed to know Jess’s story and I am glad it was already published. Whew 😅 But now I want Lindsey’s story and it’s not finished yet 😭.
If you love a single dad, forced proximity, and workplace romance you will love this book!
Favorite Quote: “Morphine is basically enlightenment in liquid form.”- Julian’s Mom. This quote just made me laugh.
I was so excited for Jess' story after meeting her in Coffee People. Flower People is a light hearted feel good read. The banter between Jess and Julian is fun and genuine. I love the found family vibes and watching the charters grow and come out of their shells.
This was the perfect follow up to Coffee People. Flower People felt soft and sweet, exactly what I was hoping for and Phyllis may be my new favorite side character of all time!!
