I hope they are, or my witchy life is about to get a million times harder.
Sadly, I’m going to have to stick a pin in the whole ugly demons spewing unsubstantiated nonsense about my murky heritage problem.
I have a sexy vampire prince to rescue. If we don’t find my undead fifth soul-bonded mate soon, my heart will shatter.
And that’s not all…
As if my lost mate and marauding demons hellbent on kidnapping me weren’t bad enough, the storm mage loathes me, my flirty incubus doesn’t understand the meaning of the word ‘boundaries’, and my snarky familiar needs a serious attitude adjustment.
The goddess knows I’m not afraid of a challenge, but it looks like I’ll need the grumpy storm mage’s help for the perilous journey that lies ahead. And guess what?
Yeah, he’s in a bad mood.

Book 2 of the Starfall Academy series picks up immediately after where Book 1, Witch Fire, ended. Expect more craziness, banter, magic and mayhem. There will be a HEA at the end of the series.
I’ve hoped that book 2 will have some improvements and that the plot expands, unfortunately, I’ve got disappointed, but sadly I’m not surprised.
Honestly, I had the urge to DNF this a couple of times.
There wasn’t any kind of development for any of the characters.
Raven is still annoying and shallow. She cringed me out so bad with every thought and interaction. I don’t think she really has a personality at all, mostly just random thoughts and pop culture references thrown out on the page. Even her own familiar hates her and I could relate with Kenji on that. I was rolling my eyes every other sentence.
The other MC-s are just flat, one dimensional, stuck in their own stupid traits. It was exhausting reading the same thing over and over again.
Even though this is a reverse harem, not every interaction has to end with a spicy scene or the character thinking about it. By the end I was skipping whole pages because I just couldn’t care less.
I hoped that things would be better in book 2, but even the progress of the plot was too little to save this.
I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
3.5 Oooo, that cliffy was super rude. Impatiently waiting for book 2. I'm so curious about Kai's home and I can't wait till his mother gets what she deserves. This series has been a lot of fun. It may be a me problem, but I've been DNFing a lot of books recently, so I'm just happy to pick one up that sucked me in and entertained me. I would like to see some growth from Raven, both personality-wise and with her magic. This seems to be very focused on the relationships in the harem before anything else, which can be good/bad depending on personal preference. I do like that, it's why we read RH, but it could have used a little more focus on moving the main plot forward. It feels like we're in the same spot that we were at the end of book 1/the beginning of this book where we don't really know what is going on with the demon situation. Not a lot happened with Alaric's father either.
Raven just annoys me with the dopey naivety sometimes, like I get she was sheltered. But to watch so much movies and tv shows and read books, then to not know basic things that are stuff you’d of known from the movies/shows referenced. Also, she just lets her mates treat her like crap, then is all “I’m horny I forgive you”. Like come on. They go right back to be dumbasses next chapter. Also, Maverick should not still be this growly bear, she’s mine nobody else’s type. Like dude, you know she has 4 other mates. You do not get to keep her to yourself or choose who she mates with or has sex with. Also, Kai dude. Grow some f*cking balls. “I’m gunna stand up to my mom”…. *doesn’t put up a fight at all*
Kenji is an asshole familiar. Like he’s funny sometimes, but to just say hurtful things to your witch after she’s already having a hard time doesn’t help. He’s supposed to be supportive as a familiar, no matter if he shows up a couple times when she is in trouble. He’s very selfish and acts as if it’s not a cherished connection, but a job that he hates and is below him to be Ravens familiar. I get that’s the idea.. but like where’s the character growth?? Like I feel he became even more of a a**hole instead of getting a little better atleast.
I feel like the cliffhanger wasn’t even a cliffhanger because it just was in a setting that I feel could’ve been better set up. It would’ve been nice to have a bit more with Adam and willow, like it was tense and then just fell flat imo.
I’m still gunna read the next book, but I hope it’s better and I better see some fucking maturing of these dudes. And raven better stop being so daft and childish.

Lyra! You did it again! I devoured this one faster than book 1 😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️ The banter between Raven and her familiar, Kenji is hilariously amazing. I love Kenji!
Maverick definitely fits his nickname of “care bear”. He’s always fussing over Raven 😅 Zane is my favorite. His ability to turn everything into a joke but the way he can soften for Raven is everything! 🫠 Alaric needs to figure his shit out. 100% an Alar-dick currently 😂 Kai… oh Kai is the shy, softie of the group but I feel like he’s got more layers to him and I’m excited to see them 🥰 Rasmus I feel like is going to be a wild card but I’m looking forward to seeing his character develop and how he will fit in with the group.
Overall, I loved this book and I can’t wait to see what happens next (especially after that ending 😱)
Lyra, thank you for the opportunity to ARC read this series for you! 🫶🏼❤️
Starfall Academy book 2 did not disappoint. The character development and how the story picked up where Witch Fire left off... chef's kiss! I didn't have to go review the previous book to catch up for Mage Storm. You have Raven who has never been exposed to a single thing in her life before now, Maverick and his possessive bear, Zane and his naughty, scheming incubus, Kai and his sweet standoffish merman and Alari-dick. This will make you giggle and have you wrapped up reading it in on setting. I'm so ready for book 3!
This was romantasy, fated mates, absolute perfection.
I absolutely love the FMC. She is humble, hilarious, kind, sweet and so empathetic with everyone regardless of how they treat people or which race they fall under. She is written as a very innocent character who basically lived on a supernatural cult? In the middle of the desert where she couldn’t leave, was homeschooled (and very selectively taught) and didn’t have much interaction with other people (aside from the other ones also living there).
We pick right back up where we left off with her and her mates and holy crap, the plot is plotting. Just when you thought in the last book that Alarics dad couldn’t possibly be a worse specimen, your mind will be absolutely blown. He is elitist and a nasty piece of work. The way that things are starting to unfold paints a very bleak picture for everyone who isn’t a witch or a mage and powerful ones at that.
Zane and Maverick just become even more lovable and we learn so much more about Zane in this book. Honestly all her mates with the exception of Alaric are impossible not to love. The bonds are getting deeper with her and each of her mates and the stakes are getting higher and higher (especially for Kai and Alaric).
I absolutely whipped through this and was up til 4am because these books are so thoroughly addicting I needed answers more than sleep.
Thank you to Book Sirens and to the author for this advanced reader copy of the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
This is book II, of the Starfall Academy series. The book begins immediately after the OMG cliffhanger ending in book one. There multiple POV and I must say, Raven becomes a more confident; not just as a witch but also as a woman. In this book, we see more of the soul bond relationship dynamics of between her and her multiple mates. I really enjoyed the incubus, Zane he is hands-down, my favorite. His banter is on point. Her familiar is definitely not just cute but a menace This book provides new adventures for all the characters, evolving relationships, and a lot more spice (Maybe a lot more than I’m used to).
I’m super curious what book 3 has to offer so I’m definitely keeping my eye out for it. Thank you BookSirens and Lyra Mishon for the opportunity to read the advance reader copy.
🌍 𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕 𝕓𝕦𝕚𝕝𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘, 𝕨𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘: First thought is this really surprised me, we got more world building than book one, we got a detailed plot with good depths, and we got plenty of New and brilliant side characters. However, I was really genuinely surprised at how tame the intimate scenes were. I expected a lot more particularly from the incubus -and his piercings -and the bar scene, I actually think I’m quite disappointed.
The plot itself is darker more intense and packed with so many more emotions and hurt. We’ve moved away from the magic Academy and we’re on a quest to find the missing vampire from book one. This means the world building now includes travelling through various terrains, meeting new people, the areas they live in, and of course the location of the vampire himself.
Pacing wise it was probably a medium but a little up and down here and there as tensions grew and twists started revealing themselves
The relationship drama is there in force, it’s clear there’s still no trust and plenty of jealousy which I’m totally here for! like I said in my review of book one, I do wish there was more character growth still, and we got time to connect with her mates individually -and as a harem. Being allowed time to breathe in between the relationship drama’s would’ve also helped heighten / increase the impact and deepen the yearning.
When I pick up a magical Academy book my main focus -after the relationship, is the academy itself. I love the classes, I love the struggles, I love the side characters, and of course I love the magic and the supernaturals in the school. so not having any of these in this book would usually have upset me -however, Mishon wrote such an interesting plot that I didn’t actually miss it that much, especially when it came to the Demons appearing, the action scenes, and letting some of raven’s secret history just trickle out enough to keep you on the edge of your seat!
🧝♂️ ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤: I’ve never known a familiar to be so snarky! I wondered in book one if it was all sarcasm and banter but I’m now beginning to think he doesn’t actually like his witch which is a genuinely interesting concept that I’ve never read before. It also annoys me how cute and loving he is towards strangers compared to how he is with Raven. I’m definitely intrigued in his powers and all his secrets. I’m looking forward to knowing more about him and how his magic grows and changes not only himself, but also Raven
Now onto Raven‘s mates, Alaric brings the bully romance trope one minute he ignores her Next he’s caring he treats her badly so obviously she wants him. No change there from book one we just get lots more of it. Suspicions from the Merman -Kai are explored in this book, he’s shy soft and very caring, but I feel like there’s so much more to him that we didn’t get to see. He’s a prime example of a missed opportunity. The author could’ve gone to town with his character and really developed him and gave him plenty of layers. I’m hoping she’s just leaving something for the next book and that’s when we’ll get to see him shine, but I was disappointed to get so little of him, his past, his fears, and his loves.. Moving onto Care bear -he’s still an overprotective and possessive shifter, who clearly loves Raven and is slowly coming to terms with being in a harem. his struggles with this are written brilliantly and very enjoyable to read about, I hope he never fully accepts it and always keeps that possessive spark to him! The incubus -Zane is still my favourite, he’s a jokester, full of banter, and always has his mind in the gutter! and the way he’s soft only for her is just *chefs kiss. Because I love him so much he actually disappointed me the most. I just thought there would be so much more to his character- like getting deeper into his lust fuelled mind, and getting so much more information around his piercings and kinks and perhaps his past experiences or his magic system! I’m excited to see how the vampire turns out. I’m predicting a dom and sub dynamic with serious rules and punishments. I’m also thinking there will be some sword crossing in the next book, but I suppose I’ll have to wait and see.
😥 𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝕟𝕠 𝕗𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕤? This book could’ve done with being another hundred pages longer just like the first one so we got to know the characters more and had more time to develop the horror and on a personal note I really would’ve liked longer and more detailed intimate scenes because of the way book one was leaning it made me expect one thing and another thing was delivered
⏳ 𝕎𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕚 𝕣𝕖-𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕠𝕣 𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕕? Yes I will reread it and yes, I would definitely recommend it again. It’s a light fantasy no big chunks of information to digest and nothing is complicated so if that’s your type of romantasy then pick it up.
🪧𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: I’m right in the middle with my opinion on this. I enjoyed book one more but the plot in this was better developed. There was more spice but I expected it to be darker and highly detailed from the way book 1 was leaning so I loved it but it wasn’t what I was expecting.
⭐️⭐️ I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another author's hands
⭐️⭐️.5 It was OK. I wish I didn't start this one as it didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetitive writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail] Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending it to all!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!
🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥 This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!
SPICE SCALE: 🌶️– segsual language and a little on-page action
🌶️🌶️– a lot of segsual language and some on-page open door action, may be occurring a couple of times
🌶️🌶️🌶️– a lot of explicit action and dirty talk, occurring frequently with 2/3 lurvers
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – super graphic and explicit, occurring 4 or more times, can be more grey and taboo themed.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – Kinks and Fet!shism, explicit and super graphic. It is likely to be tushy play, toys, playrooms, and more dark / taboo fantasies and realities.
There were several elements of this book I enjoyed, and a few that I thought didn’t add to the story at all.
I’m not a huge fan of her time at the academy. So many superemists, and bullies. The majority, from Mages, Witches and Wolf shifters. They were all disgusted she mated with a shifter, as if it mattered to them. Due to all the cult aka coven bs they spew as “News”, they are trying to ban interspecies mating. It just so happens that she’s collected the strongest of the strong from Powerful supes. Maverick, the strongest bear, Zane, the last and most powerful of any Incubus, Kai, the crown prince of the mermaid kingdom, and Alar-dick, aka Alaric Vane, son of the leader of the Mage Council who he supersedes in power. It’s obvious that Alaric is pushing her away so she can’t be used against him, from his powerful father, like his mother. His shifter mother, cut off from her bird form, starved, and anything else that can cause that kind of stillness in a living body. All while his father struts around like a peacock, using spelled charms to make others more agreeable. I should note, from multiple point of views, the incurable virus that moved firstly through the vampire population, has now moved onto the shifter population. Killing each as a mercy due to them all going feral. It was horrible to read, Maverick had to put down his uncle, and then be the bearer of bad news, to his cousin, the son of the bear he put down. Kai, had a vision of a water monster eating Raven if they left without him. He protected her and they bonded. I was so happy to read that, but I also felt a bit pissed off on his behalf when Raven abandoned him after. Although, it’s clear he has self esteem issues, he shouldn’t have abandoned her either to run to his mother, and he especially should have told them what his parents reactions would be. They found her vampire mate, saved him in time, only for the mermaid prince to disappear, and their bond pop not long later, after some excruciating pain. Which is when the book ends. I am glad Alaric went with them, I’m sad he still didn’t treat her well even after the glimpse of hope of knowing this vampire could go up against his corrupt father. They saved the vampire, and there was not a whole lot of talking to get the vampire up to speed, which didn’t really fit in my mind. They didn’t even talk of a plan about how to reintegrate Rasmus into society. Unfortunately, Kai’s mother was upset at the news of his mating outside his species and threw him in the dungeon, and then we learn later his mother made good on her threat to break their bond. Gawd, I sure hope Raven gets there before she marries him off, and kicks her fricken butt! Hopefully Rasmus has something up his sleeve. I don’t think I can take another dramatic cliffhanger in the next one.
I really wish we had a bit more in the character's arcs. I need a bit more characterization and growth for these characters to fully carry the story. It doesn't help that the pacing was a bit off. Like the characters relationships were the focal point so even when we had a time limit in place, it was like "eh, no big deal it's fate, it'll work out."
Also certain people need to grow up some.
And I would love it if the naivety got toned down a bit. I get the FMC had a sheltered life, but I'm sorry, I get her pop culture references, girl ain't that sheltered.
But my biggest issue with this book isn't ahole mage surprisingly, I know. Boy is still
My biggest issue is Kai and
I'm trying to hold off judgment on the series for now because the two idiots pissed me off, but I really hope the characters start taking a more of a proactive role in the next book.
So I have a lot to say about this book, and not a whole lot of it is good… 😣 I was really looking forward to this next instalment, but it definitely fell short for me…
While I like a lot of the characters, I do find them all to be pretty daft. I think Alaric & Kai are the most interesting out of the bunch, because they have family issues lol 😂
To me, I feel like this story was just SO repetitive. To the point where I kinda wanted to DNF around 50-60%, a few times. Like, how many inns and cabins could they find and stay in for a night? Also, the fact that at least 5 references to other books were made all before page 200 was kinda crazy. If I was a beta reader, I probably would’ve said “pick one max” lol it just fully takes me out of the story. Sometimes these are added in and they work, as a little Easter egg or something. But to have SO many, it was getting annoying…
I also felt like not much character development happened in this book. The guys getting possessive of Raven, over and over again, also was very taxing to me… Like, how many times can the author write: “can’t they all just share?” Or “sharing is caring.” Lol I think the FMC, Raven, is also frustratingly naive - to the point of almost infantilizing. The guys treat her like she’s a silly little witch, who have zero experience in the world or intimacy, and couldn’t possibly fend for herself. It’s exhausting… Girl, grow a backbone & be a boss ass bitch I know you can be. Tell the dudes to stfu & stand your ground!! Lmao 😂
Just a personal opinion as well: I thought that each intimacy scene was pretty rushed, repetitive or totally random to the plot lol
I’m not fully certain if I’ll be continuing this series, I think I would much rather spend my time elsewhere. But we will see - I like fully closing a chapter and finishing a story 🤷🏻♀️
People always say that in reviews when they’re pissed off. Well legitimately nothing happens in this book. The ENTIRE thing is a mission to get to the vampire, notice I didn’t say rescue. He’s not even in the book until the very end and it's pretty anticlimactic. The trip takes them away from the academy the entire time. Kai goes along because . God only knows why Alaric is there. He invites himself, and acts exactly the same as he did all through book 1, making every place stormy and being a childish bitch. Total liability. Kenji is still rude. Zane is oversexed. Maverick is obsessed with care and comfort. Kai is shy. None of them are people with real personalities. They barely talk to each other. They know absolutely nothing about each other's pasts/families. The h is as stupid as ever. Her inner monologue is obsessed with riding the D The landscape for most of the book is snowy, but the author is clueless about how to give it any dimension. She never tells us anything but cursory details about it, or their modes of transportation, or how any environment feels. In a cold setting descriptions that are tactile are so important. Overall: a bunch of vanilla sex and tedious filler. Virtually no secondary characters, even BFF (Glynda) is gone. Oh, the cliffhanger:
The words flow well and the characters have… well personality I guess. Unfortunately I am truly not a fan of most of them. Ok ALL of them. They are not endearing. They are not redeemable. They are just jerks! Not a single one of them, the males, have a single thing about them that isn’t terrible! Even her familiar is a complete and total jerk! She needs to get a backbone and not let others treat her like any thought or feeling of hers is less than theirs and ignorable. When they are over the top jerks her answer is to just to ignore it and let them continue to treat her badly. And don’t get me started on how the “soul bond” seems to trump every self centered, greedy, abusive thing they do to her because, oh goodie, she gets an orgasm to make it all acceptable! All that aside. There is way too much physical and not enough storyline. There is a bit of something thrown in to almost make you think that you’re going to get some. Then poof! We are back to let’s get naked or treat her like crap. I very rarely write out a review. I do appreciate all that an author has to do to get their “love child” out to us. Just as I’m sure that Lyra put her heart and soul into sharing hers with us. She did an admirable job with the words flowing well, the world building, and almost zero typographical errors. It’s the fact that I actually was grumbling and speaking out loud with frustration that I felt compelled to get all my angst out. The teasing of a great storyline is there. Just so far a failure to make it stand out and have flesh we can sink our teeth into.
I received an eARC of this book. This is book two of the Starfall Academy series. This is a why-choose paranormal romance series. The first book, Witch Fire, had me hooked. It was chaotic and fun, but had real potential for some deeper layers. Unfortunately, Mage Storm did not have the same magical quality for me that Witch Fire did. I was pretty disappointed that the major reveal from the cliffhanger of Witch Fire was sidelined for the majority of the book in favor of a different plot thread. One of my criticisms of Witch Fire was that the book seemed to be doing too much at times, so it was nice to see one plot thread become the major focus. However, I think it came at the expense of the cliffhanger and grand reveal that opened the book.
I didn’t see much in the way of character development. The setting for this book shifts away from Starfall Academy, so much of the cast of the first book doesn’t even show up here unless they get mentioned in conversations between the main group. And our main characters don’t really seem to grow or change much in this book. The male main characters really start to be siloed into one or two unique traits meant to tell them apart.
The writing was passable. Much like the first book, the tone is very blunt, simple, and even a little cheesy at times. It works well enough for this kind of book. I didn’t notice any obvious errors, but I also wasn’t looking closely for them.
Overall, I gave this 3.25 stars. I am still enamored enough by the first book that I can overlook a lot of the flaws in this one. I had an enjoyable enough time reading it, even if it wasn’t everything I hoped.
A Powerful, Storm-Fueled Sequel That Raises the Stakes
Mage Storm is an electrifying continuation of the Starfall Academy series that takes everything introduced in Book 1 and dials it all the way up. Lyra Mishon delivers a sequel that is darker, more intense, and packed with emotional and magical fallout that kept me completely hooked.
The story dives deeper into the academy’s secrets while pushing the characters into higher-stakes trials—both magical and personal. Powers evolve, loyalties are tested, and the looming danger feels real and relentless. The tension is beautifully paced, balancing explosive moments with quieter, character-driven scenes that add depth and heart.
What truly shines in Mage Storm is the character growth. Watching the cast struggle with responsibility, fear, and trust made their journeys feel raw and earned. Relationships are strained and reshaped, and the found-family dynamics add warmth amidst the chaos. The magic system also expands in exciting ways, especially with the elemental and storm-driven aspects that make the action scenes vivid and cinematic.
Mishon’s writing is immersive and fast-paced, making it impossible to put the book down. Just when you think you know where the story is heading, another twist rolls in like a thunderclap.
Overall, Mage Storm is a gripping sequel that strengthens the foundation of the series and leaves you desperate for what comes next. If you love magical academies, escalating stakes, and character-driven fantasy, this book is an absolute must-read.
Mage Storm by Lyra Mishon kept me engaged and curious, especially as the story continues to build out the world and deepen the chaos that started in Witch Fire.
I genuinely enjoy the core premise of this series. The soul-bonded mates, the layered magic system, and the mix of demons, vampires, witches, and mages create a really fun paranormal playground. There’s a lot of potential here, and I’m definitely invested in seeing how everything unfolds. While some elements still feel like they could use more depth and development, I’m hopeful that as the series continues, the world-building and character arcs will keep expanding.
My biggest hang-up, though, was the frequent use of real-world pop culture references. Mentions of things like Fifty Shades, Bridgerton, and Fourth Wing kept pulling me out of the story just when I was getting fully immersed. I personally prefer fantasy worlds that stay fully self-contained or more alluding-to than actual full references, so those moments broke the illusion for me a bit.
That said, the overall story still had me hooked. The banter, magical chaos, shifting dynamics between the characters, and ongoing mystery surrounding her heritage kept things moving, and I’m absolutely curious about where the series is headed. I’ll definitely be continuing, just hoping the next books lean more into the fantasy world and less into real-world references.
✨ If you like: paranormal romance, academy settings, soul-bonded mates, chaotic magic, and found family vibes, this series is worth checking out.
WARNING! Cliffhanger! This is an evil one, about 5/5 on my trauma scale, so if you hate them, you might want to get this book but not read it until the next one is out!
Picking up from the cliffhanger ending of book one, Raven and her mates are fighting the demon invasion at the academy. Things are quickly resolved, and then it is time to go find the missing/hidden vampire, but not before issues arise! The trip takes them North, and does involve our heroine getting much closer to a number of her mates- yes this book is full of some very spicy 🌶️ scenes! That’s not all however, there are a number of action scenes to round it out.
While I am enjoying this story, despite the annoying cliffhanger, I had to admit I was right there with Raven, rolling my eyes at the antics of her mates by the end of the book. Some of them (mentioning no names), need a lesson or two- in sharing/caring/communication. I did feel a little sorry for one of them, but also annoyed that he hadn’t shared his concerns.
Anyway, there are lots and lots of dangling story threads left, like: was the blood born vampire virus caused by the mages? Are the mages responsible for the feral shifters? What about the missing people? Is Alaric’s dad involved? What is Raven’s dad up to? What about Kai? Is Kenji leveling up? Why does he keep stealing, is there a reason behind it? I’m looking forward to the next book and hoping we get some answers soon!
If you’re a fan of RH/Academy romance, you’ll enjoy this fast paced, and action filled tale.
Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Author: @lyramishonauthor POV: Multi 1st person Gene: Romantasy Triggers: Explicit sexual content, violence, etc Read Time: 6-9 hours Expected Publishing Date: OUT NOW
❤️ World Building: There was less world building in this one, as it was mostly established in the first book. Though when there were new locations, those were eloquently written and detailed. You could almost feel how cold it was!
❤️ The Characters: So many characters, and I love them all. Though I still think that Kenji is still my favorite. I loved how all of them had such character growth in this book. I still loved that each of them had a perfect role to play in Raven’s life, making needing so many mates make sense.
❤️ The Story: The story was incredible! I was cracking up over the antics of Zane, felt all warm and cuddly with Maverick, got to know Kai better, all these wonderful things AND an adventure? Who could ask for more?
❤️🔥Overall: This has been turning out to be just such a fantastic series! I’m looking forward to the next installment!
Arctic Fox Fact Inspired by Kenji: Arctic foxes depend on lemmings as their main food source in inland areas, creating a tight-knit predator-prey relationship between them. Consequently, most of their populations fluctuate between years in response to lemming numbers going up and down, as part of their natural population cycle. (www.wwf.org.uk)
I was gifted this book free for my honest opinion, you know the drill 😉
I preferred this to book one and got totally swept up in the continuation of Raven's story. There isn't much plot movement from the threads started in book one and instead this felt more focussed on the dynamics in the group. I liked the Rasmus rescue mission giving Raven and her guys to develop as a group outwith the academy setting; the relationships are all developing at their own pace and I like that there is friction to work through rather than the bond over riding everything.
Zane continues to my favourite of the MMCs; he showed some of his more vulnerable side and I'm here for the tension with Rasmus. I'm struggling a little with Maverick and his possessiveness as although he does clearly dote on Raven it started to feel a little repetitive. As he was the only mate in book one I appreciate that this is a learning curve for him but I was ready for him to dial it back a bit particularly when Zane and Kai didn't get that same post bond time. I am over Kenji's mean girl energy too and was livid for him ruining Zane's tree. That really got to me!
It looks like we're about to take a detour to Kai's territory after than cliffhanger. Looks he is also a member of the dodgy parents club unfortunately!
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
First off I actually let out a quiet scream at that ending. My husband even came to check on me. Spoiler alert...I'm not okay.
In this book we see some character growth (not from everyone though) as well as getting more backstory. This book has us off to find the vampire mate.
I absolutely love Kenji. The banter between him and Raven will have you laughing. He is always where he needs to be. He also has a tendency to meddle in the best ways.
Maverick really leans into the "Carebear" nickname. Zane is the definition of 'only soft for her's. Alaric is still fitting his nickname but he seems to slowly be losing his battle against fate. Kai is so sweet and quiet but he has quite a possessive side that was very hot. As for Rasmus we are only just getting to know him so I'm definitely interested in seeing what he is all about.
This story was a perfect continuation. We really saw how the characters struggled in dealing with their wants, needs and having other people wanting Raven too.
Every little piece of information we get shows us a little more about Raven, her men and what's going on in the world. However, they also drop bombs in the middle of the road leaving you to pickup what you thought would happen and re-evaluate.
The book was a great pace and I devoured it in one sitting and was left desperate for the next book.
Book 2 Plunging into chaos...from Ellora to Raven and her revelation about who her bio father is during the semi-apocalyptic showdown; she withholds keeping it from her inner circle and, importantly with so many multiple mates, soul bonded, fated or not. Yikes! Talk about whiplash for this reader! I was totally MMC-overloaded - it was like trying to pick a favorite song on my playlist. Raven's whole 'meh, I'm not bothered' attitude towards the guys was pretty amusing, although sometimes repetitive, it gave trying too hard to be the cool girl vibes. Still, I liked how she asserted herself when it mattered, but wish there was more individual character development. I'll admit it - the plot had me totally bewildered because everyone was vying for Raven's attention while she was trying to figure out her place in the world, but the storyline was so captivating that I didn't even notice I was halfway through the book - I was too caught up in trying to solve the mystery. So there were some drawbacks, but the snappy dialogue, puzzling mystery, and constant chaos kept me engaged. I was hell-bent on finding out what happened next and yep,…Cliffy! Gotta love those!! now I have to read book 3 because, I just cannot let this go.
Book 2 just as if not more enjoyable than the first book.
Zane, i absolutely love, even though he is a major red flag.
Kai is just such a sweetheart, sooo shy, until he isnt haha.
Maverick overly possessive yet will make sure all your needs are taken care of.
Alar-dic really neds to build a back bone, but i have high hopes for him. Even though he is being stubborn and denying his bond with Raven, i hope he gives in and we find that he is the dreamiest mate of them all.
Rasmus i am a bit unsure of, i get the vibe their is an alteria motive to him and there is more than meet his red eyes lmao.
The back plot with the mage council and why they are stealing female shifters, mermaids and other creature. I can't wait to find the reasoning behind this.
And that cliffhanger…. Kai whats happend???? Who did his mother ask to attempt to server his bond with Raven. I need to know…
The spice in this book. WOW it gets pretty heated Raven discovering a number of things and the piercings. Need i say more

Another enjoyable instalment regarding Raven and her mates and her life at the Academy.
The story starts when Raven finds out more about her past and who her parents are. Does she share that titbit with her mates, or keep it to herself for now? Some of her mates are quite happy to accept the bond, while others are more reticent. Why? They have their reasons. But when they find out that Raven is about to embark on a trip that could be dangerous, all go to make sure that she survives it, well, that's what they tell themselves anyway.
I've really enjoyed following Raven on her journey. She has led such a sheltered life that it is funny to see her coping with her magic, which can go haywire at any time, the minefield that is her love life, and her heart of gold, which always puts others before herself. It's nice to see her being accepted for who she is and not for power, status, or wealth. But some families, those are what make the person, and those are the mates who have the greatest difficulty accepting Raven, because of what their family could do when they find out about the bond.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So good diving back into Raven and her men’s world again. And, boy, did I miss Kenji’s sass!
We return to Starfall at the back end of the demon attack. Many injured, some dead. Raven, Zane, Maverick, Kai, and even Alaric go on an adventure. It is full of action, passion, confessions, and heartache. Alaric is still being … Alaric. But, at least he’s tagging along for their quest to find Rasmus. This is another really good read. Mind that cliff, though. Kinda hurts.

*Reverse Harem *Paranormal *Multi-1st-PoV *Academy Setting *Unusual FMC *Elitist Society *Fated Mates *Building Harem (5) *Mid Burn *Book 2/5 Good plot, characters not quite there yet 🙈 This is a good continuation of the storyline, there’s a level of interest with the role our FMC is supposed to play in the wider picture of the division between the different types of supernaturals, as well as Hell with the revelation of Raven’s link to that domain 😅 this story moves pretty quickly! Although the male characters do have some good banter, and it’s a realistic portrayal that they don’t all get along - some of it feels/comes across a bit immature. For instance Mavericks possessiveness and the fact he doesn’t really accept she has other mates, I would have expected that to simmer down a little now. There are some good elements with her mates, her mer prince came through in this one (well somewhat), her incubus really connects and the vampire is an interesting spin - still waiting for the mages attitude to shift 😳 will see how they develop on the next book 😁
This was a great continuation of the Starfall Academy series! It picks up right where Witch Fire leaves off and it’s action packed til the very end! Both books so far in this series I sat and devoured in one sitting.
I love Raven and (most) of her mates. The jury is still out on Alaric for me, but I know he’s just doing what he thinks is best. I can’t wait for him to come around and I hope to see him grovel HARD. Make that man work for it Raven!
Kenji is still one of my favorites! His personality and his comments never fail to make me laugh and I enjoyed seeing his growth with Raven. I am looking forward to learning more about Rasmus in the next book! So far I’m a fan, cause who can hate a handsome vampire? Definitely not me.
The banter between Maverick and Zane had me laughing and I loved seeing more of Kai! He is so sweet and that cliffhanger killed me! I cannot wait to continue on with the third book when it is released.
A massive thank you to Lyra Mishon for letting me ARC read this amazing book and I cannot wait to continue to read such a great series! ❤️
While chaos erupts at school Raven realizes that there’s more to her identity than what meets the eye. Once the schools chaos is settled the drive for her to find her vampire mate is even stronger than before. Only there’s an issue Raven reluctantly needs Alarics help with a tracking spell. Soon she find herself with all of her mates on a mission that takes them to the middle of nowhere Alaska facing enemies and “friends” from every direction.
Ramus, Ravens vampire mate, is exactly who she needs as a vampire mate. He is kind loving and loyal to her. While understanding the need to hide and not show who he is, he’s still wanting to protect Raven at all costs.
Durning their journey Kai accepts and seals their bond. He is sweet and gentle and loves being able to just be himself around the group. Theres just with one issue his mom and her issues with inter species relationships. Towards the end he goes off to talk to his mom and I’ll leave it at that. (More for you to read and figure out.)
While Zane still drives Maverick mad with flirtation and being places he’s not “welcomed” they are still fiercely protective and all on Ravens side.
This book is amazing and I can’t wait to read book 3!!!

Mage storm picks up right where Witch Fire left off. The academy is under attack and Raven is separated from her mates. Raven starts to come into her own a bit more during this book, learning a bit of her heritage and finding more confidence when dealing with her alpha hole mates. This group still has a lot of growth before they become the powerhouse I know they can be. Alaric is still a wet noodle. Kai is insecure which leads to outside issues that will need to be dealt with in book 3. We meet Rasmus and I love him. We don’t know much about him yet but him and Zane bring chaotic, s*xy energy. Zane was my favorite in book 1 but he lost some points in this book that he needs to work for. Maverick is still overly possessive, which leads him to be a bit of a c*ck block and a bit annoying but he’s learning. Overall a good read and I hope in book 3 we see more answers and communication in the unit.
