I couldn't set this book down! The writing is so easy to digest and the story is captivating. With characters that are easy to relate to and connect with, an underground mining town, and a mysterious magical stone, this fresh story is one I would recommend.
I am very excited to continue along with this series!! The worldbuilding so far is incredibly fascinating, and it didn't feel overwhelming even when packed into 134 pages. The characters, especially the main character, Lees, are super fun and I really enjoyed being inside of Lees' brain. The writing was also very polished so overall a very pleasant surprise and a great start for this series!!!
I picked up this book at a local book fair and flew through it over the next weekend. What really stood out to me was the unusual setting. It takes place in an underground town, where the main character Lees works mining hyper-the source of magical power. She mostly keeps her head down and eyes focused on her work, but a chance encounter with an out-of-town stranger has her putting her mining skills to the test.
An enjoyable, light, fast fantasy read if you’re in the mood for something different than the castles of medieval Europe or grimy streets of NYC.
