The war reaches its final stages. Returning from Rendalia with veteran forces and his foreign bride Princess Isolde, William enters a rebellion on the verge of collapse, and turns it all around. And this is where his weakness begins to show.
For all he can do on the battlefield, William learns it is what happens off the battlefield that can hurt him. As it becomes clear they are going to win the war, the men fighting the rebellion look to the future, and what they might get out of it, each jockeying for position. In the political arena, William finds himself unequipped as everyone positions themselves for what comes next.

I've been eagerly awaiting this book since finishing book 3, so I grabbed book 4 the day it was released and finished it in less than 24 hours. It did not disappoint. In this book, the rebellion reaches a fever pitch and William's army is forced into one battle after another. While I found some of the tactics repetitive toward the end, if you enjoy low-fantasy military action then this is the book for you. Now the interminable wait for book 5...
