From the Desk of the Royal   Good lord, these two are completely clueless.   The MacCraven Twins know nothing about their roots ( royal, Elvish) or the importance of their upcoming birthday ( “coming of age”). They think turning forty means one big party and then straight over the hill.  Little do they the Elvish throne waits for no one. Talk about a birthday surprise.   Julia lives the perfect charmed mom life and Cordelia holds the title of the Crossroad’s favorite coffee slinger/slacker musician.  They think they’ve got it all together. The joke’s entirely on them.  Their father ( absent, grifter) showing up out of nowhere should ring some bells here. He’s about to turn these women’s lives into some bonkers fantasy sitcom.  His Majesty’s messenger Elf (  gorgeous, unattached) better get a move on and find the twins; nobody wants the Other Guy ( boo! Hiss!) to inherit the throne.  The twins need to suck it up for the good of the kingdom no matter how many misgivings they have about the matter.  H’Armynlea is modernizing one way or another.  Look, royalty has rules.  A flourishing kingdom comes before silly things like falling for the royal liaison.

The name of the game for this book is “We are JUST FRIENDS!”

Twin sisters Cordelia and Julia are celebrating their 40th birthday in a cute, witchy Nashville neighborhood when they learn that they are Royalty. Not Buckingham Palace and garden-party-hats royalty… No. They are the heirs to the Elvish Royal Throne!!! And their grandfather is ready to accept them into his lonely aged life. What happens next is a bunch of royal silliness, heartfelt family moments, and a shitton of snark! And lest you think it’s all fun and games being a princess (and falling in love—I mean: being “just friends”—with some lowling elf on the King’s payroll), wait until you meet the ass-hats who WOULD inherit the throne if Julia and Cordelia weren’t in the way…

I was enchanted with this story. I love the realness of the family relationships and the magic. As far as I’m concerned, these people are real, and any day now I’m going to find my way to Nashville and the Crossroads to meet them all. But the best part of this book is the author’s infectious voice! Larkey is a master of hilarity. Every one of her characters shines with wit! This is a fun and cozy first installment of what I hope will be a long, hilarious series. Bravo on this debut!
