I came to Everhart Manor to kill the Alpha who destroyed my family. One vial of poison. One perfect chance.
But when Kael Everhart drank my tea— he didn’t die. He looked at me like he’d known me in every lifetime. And my wolf whispered the one word I swore never to hear— Mate.
Now I’m trapped in his mansion, brewing the same potion that keeps him alive. Each dose ties me closer to the man I should hate. Each touch burns through every lie I’ve built to survive.
He thinks fate sent me to save him. I know it sent me to destroy him.
But when his mark ignites on my skin, I start to wonder— if the real poison isn’t in my vial… but in the way he says my name.
And the deadliest secret of all? He was never supposed to be my target— I was his.
He was the Alpha cursed by blood. She was the healer sent to destroy him. But fate had other plans.
Kael rules a fractured city haunted by his father's legacy and his own unnatural curse. His power isolates him, his duty weighs heavy, and the only one who might save him is a quiet, determined apothecary with secrets of her own. Liora arrives in Prairie with a plan: earn his trust, then end his line. But trust is a dangerous thing when hearts start to get involved.
As Kael and Liora are pulled together by shared pain and unlikely tenderness, the line between enemy and ally begins to blur. Every step closer threatens to expose Liora’s past, but walking away starts to feel impossible. The deeper they fall, the harder it gets to hold onto old vows.
When Liora's cure unleashes something far worse, chaos erupts. Kael faces rebellion from within, and Liora must reckon with the unintended cost of her choices. Secrets rise, loyalties snap, and love turns from refuge to risk. But sometimes the only way forward is through the fire.
Liora and Kael start as survivors shaped by grief, duty, and loss. She wants revenge. He wants peace. But over time, she becomes a healer instead of a weapon, and he learns to trust more than blood. What begins with suspicion and restraint transforms into a love that sees each other fully and chooses to stay.
A dark, steamy, forbidden, enemies to lovers, secret identity romantasy filled with betrayal, healing, slow burn tension, and hard-won redemption. It explores love, identity, trust, revenge, forgiveness, loyalty, sacrifice, and the weight of inherited pain. It's about breaking cycles, surviving violence, choosing love over vengeance, and rewriting your story when truth could ruin it all. At its heart, it's about trust rebuilt, roles reversed, and love that defies legacy.
The Elevator Pitch: A cursed Alpha bound by legacy and a healer hiding deadly secrets collide in a city on the brink. What starts as a calculated betrayal turns into a slow burn, steamy romance caught between fate and vengeance. Magic, loyalty, and desire twist together in a battle for survival, trust, and a love that refuses to break.
This werewolf-shifter paranormal romance, set in a wonderfully old-fashioned world, pulls you in right from the start. The tension is constant—there’s intrigue, danger, and quite a bit of poisoning woven throughout the story, which makes it hard to put down. The atmosphere is rich and immersive, giving the whole book a gothic, slightly haunting feel that I really enjoyed.
That said, there are a few plot elements that felt a bit hard to believe. For someone in such a powerful and high-risk position, the male lead trusts far too easily, almost instantly at times, which doesn’t quite fit his role. In addition, some scenes feel a little too constructed—moments clearly designed to push the story forward quickly rather than unfold naturally.
The heroine is another point where things get a bit exaggerated. Although the story emphasizes that she has had very little formal training, she repeatedly outperforms others in her profession in ways that feel a bit too convenient. It doesn’t ruin the book, but it does stand out.
Still, despite those weaknesses in plot development, the overall story is engaging and full of tension. And if you enjoy a satisfying, sweet, and heartwarming happy ending, this book absolutely delivers.
A fun and atmospheric read with a few hiccups—but definitely enjoyable.
