Prince Osora is destined to rule over the Calaveras Kingdom in a life planned out by his family since birth, when his father presented him to the kingdom as male. However, the magic-wielding race called Sergos has a different plan for Osora: to use him as collateral in war with the humans. Bound by what others force him to be and trapped in a love triangle between a promised fiancée and his childhood best friend, Osora must recreate his own story.

It’s the end of the year, meaning it was time for my annual yaoi reading. I chose this, and oh my GOSH I LOVE IT. I don’t usually add visual novels to my Goodreads, but I can’t help but re-read this instead of my actual books. It’s so good. This made me pull my first all-nighter in 6 years just so I could finish it. Also I’m in love with Catalina.

I'm LOVING Osora so far, everything about it is pure perfection (except for the creeps in it... fuck them). The romance is on a whole other level, and we get both Yaoi and Yuri it's like a buffet of gayness and I'm living for it!

I'm marking it as read until the amazing writer who created this world is off hiatus on webtoon and continues their story. See you then!

Uno dei migliori. Sebbene i disegni e le loro proporzioni a volte vengano a mancare, quello che vuole dire lo dice e lo esprime bene. Era da tempo che non mi cimentavo in un romance del genere e che contiene una tale attualità da far paura. È evidente il messaggio che vuole fare arrivare e, dio, il momento in cui finalmente si aprono e parlano con cuore aperto e completa onestà fa capire quanto sia importante, per ognuno di noi, essere visti e ascoltati veramente da qualcuno disposto a porgere gli occhi e gli orecchi restando bendata la facoltà di giudizio. La storia tra Celia e Catalina (che ho sempre chiamato Catilina 😔, viva Cicerone) caruccia, ma l'intesa tra Osora e Arias è spiazzante sorry not sorry, la preferisco di gran lunga. Anche riguardo gli argomenti di cui discutono e la loro complessità non è e non ha lo stesso carico di ciò che affligge Celia o Catalina. Osora vive una vita paragonabile a quella di Lady Oscar portandosi con sé il peso di un regno a cui la sua forza, il suo coraggio, la sua determinazione non bastano mai. C'è da riflettere sulla società di oggi e, ripensando a Lady Oscar in quanto opera storica seppur romanzata, anche su come la storia dell'umanità si ripeti sempre in un modo o nell'altro. Non so se lo scopo di questo manga sia di quello di dare il via a questo tipo di riflessione ma questo è ciò che mi ha provocato. La società e i suoi irritanti e rigidi parametri di giudizio possono uccidere vite; parole di troppo, parole fraintese o ambigue, possono uccidere e bloccare vite, o versioni di alcune vite che avrebbero potuto sbocciare in fiori meravigliosi. Va prestata attenzione ai dettagli e alle piccole cose per non ferire, semplicemente e anzitutto perché non vorremmo che ci venisse fatto a noi. Non è concluso e giuro che se non li vedo a vivere nella fattoria insieme lontani da tutto spacco tutto. Osora è un personaggio magnifico ma non vivendo direttamente la sua condizione mi ritrovo e preferisco molto di più Arias, mi sembra sinceramente l'espressione incarnata di cosa significa amare, per quello che posso dire di immaginarmi al momento. Do 4 stelle e non 5 perché non mi ha tenuto incollata alle pagine come altri manga, ma di sicuro rientra in quello scaffale di libri che rileggerò quando sarò giù di corda.

Au début, j’avais très peur de ne pas apprécier, parce que le protagoniste, biologiquement une fille, ressemble énormément à un garçon. Du coup, ce n’était ni vraiment dans la catégorie BL, ni totalement hétéro. J’avais peur de ne pas accrocher à ce nouveau genre, mais en fait, pas du tout.
J’avais l’impression de lire quelque chose de totalement nouveau. Le côté psychologique d’Osara par rapport à sa transexualite est très bien maîtrisé. C’est une femme à la naissance, mais il a grandi comme un homme, au point que son propre père est dans un profond déni et continue de le voir comme son fils, son héritier.
Ainsi, même si son corps est féminin, son comportement est totalement masculin. Le protagoniste est d’ailleurs complètement perdu, voire complexé par rapport à cela, car il a l’impression de ne pas être un « vrai » homme.
Et Arias, son meilleur ami et garde personnel, est adorable avec lui. C’est parfait : il aime les hommes comme les femmes et développe une véritable obsession pour Osara. Il l’aide à se réconcilier avec son corps, car pour lui Osara est unique, bien plus qu’un simple corps.
C’était tellement original. Ça change des webtoons habituels, et aussi des BL qui finissent par devenir un peu répétitifs .
Et pour la première fois, j’ai même mis de l’argent dans un webtoon.

I love this series. I really like the romantic theme and how Arias is really patient and careful with Osora. It actually is like a real life relationship and makes you feel every little detail like if it was your life and not theirs.
