But the beast is not done lurking beneath the surface, whispering in her ear, urging her to kidnap this particular woman.

As Kate comes to and learns of Jordan's viral mutation, she grows determined to get back to the safe zone, confident it's the key to saving everyone. The two strike a Jordan will escort Kate to the safe zone, but she must come back with Jordan once the work is done, as the beast demands. The unlikely duo must survive hordes, raiders, and a cult in the mountains, all while trying to overcome their own demons. Phewwww this was a rollercoaster!! So intense and exciting, through the entire story! The main characters were perfect, their banter was so fun and so real! Watching Kate figure out how to maneuver through so much chaos as just a we lab rat was fun! The story line was amazing and honestly, one of my greatest fears of our world.

I ate this book up! It had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning.
This story follows Jordan and Kate as they try to navigate life after a deadly virus breaks out on the island.
The story has a lot of horror elements but it's also incredibly heartfelt.
Which is to be expected with G.E. Masters. Her stories are so fascinating and at times they can be heartbreaking. 🥹
Now, into the romance. Gosh, the chemistry between the two FMCs? Its insane! I seriously could not get enough of them! The unconditional loyalty and love between them was just everything to me.

10/10.

Decay and Devour? More like this book devoured me!! God it was so good. Let me tell you, I am not a sci fi, post apocalyptic fan normally and zombies aren't my thing. BUT THIS WAS EVERYTHING!!

I swear I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I utterly adore Jordan and Kate, wow. Kate was fantastic, she truly was such an amazing character and believes in the work she is doing in the lab. When on a mission, she discovers or should I say *gets slammed* with a discovery about the virus and that discovery is our amazing Jordan. GAAAH Jordaaaaan, might be one of my new favourite FMCs. Jordan cannot understand why the virus made her want to kidnap this random woman, but now she has her she isn't letting her go.

Let me tell you, there's so much tension and chemistry!! There's so much wit in the exchanges between these two, I love their internal dialogue between interactions too. It's a wild ride as you follow both Jordan and Kate through the story as they face each challenge, including at times eachother and their internal conflicts throughout. It's such an emotional rollercoaster and because it's G Masters, it's written to perfection. These characters have so much depth and relatability to them, you just can't help but love them and want the absolute world for them. Not to mention, the spice 👀🥵 YES. Gah I just am in love.

The horror elements were super well done, at times it often felt eerie and almost like it could be too real and I love how descriptive each scene was. Honestly this might just be another one of my all time favourite reads of the whole of 2025. If your after a Sapphic horror sci-fi thriller with spice then this is absolutely for you, and it's just GAH perfection.

I won't say anymore because I don't want to spoil anything

Things I loved:
- Sapphic Romance (FF)
- Infected kidnapper and non infected captive
- So much tension
- Mental health rep including PTSD, anxiety and depression (note suicidal ideation)
- BLOOD CONSUMPTION, also CNC and dubcon

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️Open door and detailled, multiple scenes
Burn: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

“I always thought the infected were the monsters, but maybe I’m one too.” - Kate

“Decay and Devour” by G.E. Masters was deliciously thrilling! I honestly don’t think there’s a genre that G can’t write, and I’m totally obsessed with her work. I want to thank her for allowing me to be on her street team and giving me an advanced peek at this post-apocalyptic sapphic romance! All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.

“The self-hatred swirls around me over and over again, not letting up until it’s dug so deeply into me that I don’t even exist anymore.” - Kate

As stated above, “Decay and Devour” is a post-apocalyptic sapphic romance written in dual points of view that follows two main characters: Kate, an optimistic researcher working with a team to find a cure for the virus that has spread; and Jordan, one of the infected who somehow regained control over the beast within, yet still feels compelled to kidnap Kate.

“Want her, the beast snarls in my head. Want her, want her. All right, well, we have her now. The beast and I knew she’d never come willingly, so I had to knock her out.” - Jordan

Naturally, tension is high at first and Kate is terrified of Jordan. Eventually though, they make a deal: Jordan will bring Kate back to her safe zone to continue working on a cure, but once it’s found, Kate must return with Jordan. The journey is long and brutal. Along the way, they encounter other infected, merciless raiders, a religious cult in the mountains, and a shadow stalker (the most dangerous infected out there).

“No one is coming to save us. We’re on our own.” - Kate

On top of the physical threats, they also have to face their own inner demons. Though the journey is tough, they wind up working together, learning more about each other, and connecting in a way they never saw coming. Will they survive all that this world throws at them or will it tear them apart?

“I’ve ripped my chest open with my bare hands, fingernails digging into my flesh and bone to expose my broken core underneath.” - Jordan

In previous reviews of G’s work I’ve commented on her writing style and this book is no different. The writing is smooth and captivating, with every detail thoughtfully considered. I easily get lost in the story, joining the characters on their riveting journey. As usual, I look forward to more of her work!

Readers who love gripping dark romance with sapphic yearning, enemies-to-lovers tension, dystopian zombie chaos, flamethrowers, SPICE, and muscle mommies, will definitely enjoy “Decay and Devour”. Add this one to your TBR now! Expected release: spring 2026 (date TBD).

“But I don’t stop, holding steady as I set this motherf***er aflame.”

I enjoyed the premise of this book. As someone who came into their political self the same year they read 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, I absolutely love dystopian books especially where you find out the government are the bad guys.

I enjoyed how it wasn’t just infected and non-infected. There were cults, raiders, and monsters hiding throughout the zones in addition to infected and non-infected persons. This made the spectrum of morality much more realistic and nothing was black and white.

I liked the infected vs. non infected sapphic relationship and how they both helped each other change their outlooks on life, or rather come into their own and discover what they wanted out of life. Our FMCs were definitely the ones driving the plot as the traveling occurred especially.

The main thing that didn’t work as well for me was I felt a lot of the traveling was redundant. I love a travel/journey romance, but I felt like I was reading the same chapters over and over again just in a new location. This did lead me to skim bits in the last 15-20% of the book, but this is probably just a me thing!

Thank you to G.E. Masters for the eARC! The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

3.25 stars!

this book was an absolute whirlwind!

in a world full of infected and non infected humans, kate and jordan find themselves in an unlikely situation together. with no one but each other, they have to find their way back to a safe zone and what they go through along this journey gets crazier and crazier by the page!

i absolutely adored kate and jordan’s relationship and how everything panned out for them in the end. by no means was it conventional and that’s what made it so perfect.

from 70% on i was absolutely floored and clutching the edge of my seat for what was going to happen and the twist at the end was so out of left field i didn’t see it coming!

with the way this ended, i hope we get more from this world and find answers or solutions, but it was also a good ending if we don’t!

thank you so much to the author for the arc, i can’t wait for more from you!🖤

WOW, this book was packed with tension, intensity, thrill and pure heat when it came to the two main characters. A virus has taken over an island and the infected people have turned into zombies. Things take a turn with one of the main characters, Kate, while she is going on a mission and she is faced with an unbelievable discovery about the virus that she thought was impossible and it's an infected named Jordan. Jordan battles with the virus inside her and can't understand why Kate has become a main focus to her virus. The emotional rollercoaster you go through is wild but so worth it. Only G.E could make a book that makes you nervous and hot all at the same time. If you're looking for a horror thriller with sapphic spice that will leave you breathless? please DIVE into this book.

Loved this arc, love GE Masters!

Love GE Masters writing which is simple, to the point and making you want more in the end

This book pulled at my heartstrings making me think of so many different media’s that are my fav when it comes to a good read. Jordan and Kate were like the perfect duo starting out with their differences but finding that they were similar in the end.

This Monster dystopian romance was just amazing and that ending really made me want more! I’m so curious if there will be something I’ll be waiting for with this plot 🥰

ARC REVIEW
Duel 1st Person POV. 5🌟 4🌶️. 289 pages
7.5 Spicy Scenes

Decay and Devour a book aptly named as I did indeed devour it in one sitting. I physically could not tear myself away from this book! I knew after the first chapter that this would 100% be a 5🌟 read and a book that I would most likely come back to over and over again!

Kate is a researcher in safe zone two working on a vaccine/cure for the virus that took hold of the island she called home five years prior. After both her parents and brother were infected, the only thing Kate has left is hope. Until she is literally kidnapped and held hostage by a lucid infected. Jordan and her “beast” become obsessed with Kate and are determined to keep her. The story follows the two on a journey of terror, bloodshed and a shared obsession with one another, as they travel back to the safe zone!

Everything and I mean EVERYTHING about his book is phenomenal, something I have come to expect from G.E Masters! The world building and description of the infected is out of this world. The dynamic and continuous banter between Kate and Jordan is excellently executed and you can truly feel their connection leaping of the page and the spice, Jesus 🥵.

This book had me laughing, it had me mentally screaming at my kindle, it had me cautiously checking my bedroom door at 3am incase I was about to be eaten and it completely swept me away.

Decay and Devour will be released Spring 2026. Do yourself a favour and devour it like I did when you have the chance!

Things to LOVE:

Holy sapphic zombie apocalypse!! I absolutely DEVOURED this. Obsessed. Love it. Can’t even make brain words write good things. I’ve just finished it and immediately need to tell everyone it’s EXACTLY what I’ve been waiting for.
An infected, muscle mommy captor with a non-infected, scientist captive? A long journey to get back to the safe zone, infested with hordes and raiders? Tied to a bed? Spice, horror and romance? A FLAMETHROWER? All the yes. I loved every page and couldn’t put it down.
The trade-off between Jordan and The Beast was really captivating to read, and I’m a sucker for the primal ‘mine’ vibes so ate ALL of this up. Also the backstories for Jordan and Kate definitely tug on the heart strings.

Plot summary
Dystopian, post zombie outbreak world with infected, raiders, ‘safe’ zones, and just trying to survive. Kate is helping to work on a vaccine/cure, and heads out to check the perimeter. Unfortunately things go a bit wrong and she ends up running for her life and getting kidnapped by someone. That someone turns out to be Jordan, the first infected known who can still talk and control themselves (mostly). She also happens to be an absolute muscle mommy with The Beast directing her from the inside…

Things I loved:
- Jordan and ‘The Beast’
- Kidnapping with no idea what to do with her next
- Last of Us vibes
- The spice
- Cult in the mountains
- The flamethrower
- The chemistry!
- The brother
- Revenge on the raiders
- Getting the truth out there ending

Overall, a gripping, sapphic dystopian horror/romance with a sexy muscle mommy infected, and a red haired scientist non-infected. LOVE!

Thank you for the free ARC in exchange for honest review.

4.5 ⭐️3.5🌶

I absolutely loved this book. Zombies can be a bit tricky as a subject matter. The virus origin is usually due to a mutation or man made creation. They can be slow and lumbering or fast, or even super fast (hive mind). Is the virus linked to only humans? What methods can spread it? What kills the zombie? The options are many but so can be the pitfalls when crafting a truly unique take.

This tale isn't as big on the horror aspect but it's still there, looming around every corner, just waiting to pounce. Kate and Jordan's interactions slowly lure you into this dystopian island that they're caught on. The race for a cure and Kate's eventual captivity by Jordan who's slowly evolving into a new zombie threat is expertly done. The ever present threat not just from zombie hordes, but the living as well is an added danger to them both.

I loved the interactions, the world building, creatures, and especially the ending. I hope we get more of them in the future.

Tropes and triggers: kidnapping, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, found family, religious fanatics, touch her and die, one bed

I was given an advanced copy for an honest review.

GE Masters is one of my favourite authors and has been since I first read When Flowers Wilt. Since then, I’ve read everything she has written and even with high hopes, she always manages to beat my expectations.

I can’t handle horror of any kind, I think life is scary enough. Yet GE writes such intricate and fascinating storylines I am always completely enthralled. Her stories are everything I love to read in sapphic romance novels; characters that feel authentic, emotions that feel raw yet understandable, and storylines that are completely satisfying.

I love her willingness to explore these unique characters and walk us through their lives. Every single time I have finished reading her books I always feel overwhelming gratitude in getting to go on the journey with her characters.

Mom, pick me up I’m scared!!!

No, actually this horromance was somehow perfectly terrifying AND adorable? My heart was pounding for the majority of this book, either due to the spice or the suspense. I loved the learning about the virus, outbreak, and lore behind both the MC’s. I felt like I was living in this world, on the island with them.

Kate and Jordan are two of my all time favorite characters at this point! They were both extremely relatable in their insecurities. The trauma they endured and lived with is never diminished and is properly shown through their emotions and dialogue, something I really appreciate in apocalyptic books.

I saw the book coming to an end but I didn’t want it to!! Begging for a spin off from G.E.

10/10 book!!

What a rollercoaster ride!! Thrilling, steamy, feelings, danger…this book has it all! Thank you to the author for an advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you liked The Walking Dead or Fear The Walking Dead and wanted some sapphic storylines, then you should definitely read this book.
Jordan is an infected but (mostly) has control of herself. She saves (kidnaps) Kate and they must figure out how to not only navigate one another but also the city that’s filled with feral infected, raiders and cultists as they journey back to the safe zone.
I loved Jordan and her ‘beast’. I found myself smirking and swooning at times. Kate was sweet and smart. They had a connection almost from the start. Fairly fast paced with a nice burn.

✨✨ARC REVIEW✨✨

Well damn, now I want to get ✨✨eaten✨✨ by a zombie!
This book was such a wild ride in which I never knew what was going to happen next and I also never knew who exactly to trust. This has everything I could want from a post apocalyptic world; a zombie variant that keeps altering, corrupt government, insane cults and sapphic romance! I love the idea that there’s always time for ✨✨relations✨✨ during a zombie apocalypse.
I really enjoyed the FMCs learning to trust each other and coming together. The epilogue to this book had me super intrigued and I cannot wait to see where this goes! Decay and Devour comes out soon and you’re definitely going to want to sink your teeth into this one!

OMGGGG I loved this book. I was so consumed with this book. As the story follows Kate and Jordan I loved the way it had messy feelings, vulnerability, all while having very real and relatable moments. These types of books don’t always reel me in but I was obsessed!!! I love the banter and chemistry between the characters and the way “the beast” inside of Jordan has a feral need and possessiveness for Kate…#needthat! I was so into the story it felt shorter than it is. Highly recommend!!

I received an ARC for this book.

I have read all previous books from the author and I was waiting for this one. The plot is like nothing I’ve ever read in sapphic books and I loved the storyline. I also loved Jordan. Her relationship progression with Kate was smooth and well developed. I kinda saw the plot twist coming but I was very much surprised with the unconventional happy ending.

Imagine living on an island that was left abandoned by the government to suffer its own demise at the hands of zombies, who want nothing more than to munch on your flesh and turn you into one of their own…

Until you encounter an infected who knocks you out, kidnaps you and wants nothing more than to munch on your flesh, but in an entirely different light because this book is a sapphic sentient zombie x human romance 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

Decay and Devour was a delightful read, told with dual POV so you see both Kate and Jordan and their struggles with their budding romantic feelings and the obvious moral conundrum of “am I actually considering getting down with a zombie right now?” While we, the reader are screaming GIRL GET YOUR MEAL 🍽️

The plot keeps you on your toes, as you see the MC’s travel back to a safe zone and encounter trouble along the way.
I genuinely felt like I was watching a post apocalyptic film in my head while reading, the eerie-ness of empty forgotten homes left in stasis to rot, the places where raiders had squatted and where infected had collected in groups and left…mess… behind was written SO well. 10/10 for scene capturing.

Both Kate and Jordan were really deep, relatable characters when you take away their walls and I love seeing this. I’ve never rooted for a HEA so hard for an undead person 😭

If you love to read dystopian, sapphic, or monster romance- this will be a book you’ll enjoy. If you’re a dark girlie and enjoy gun play, well… I got good news for you 🤭

Thank you to the author for the ARC 🤍
