I absolutely loved this book! What I expected was a mystery with big things happening in Copeland City and I got that, but it wasn’t exactly what I expected….
There is a lot of tension that comes from the strain between Archer and Minka, and it had me turning pages long into the night. Sophia is yet again very much involved in this story and Mr. Cordova has something up his sleeves as well…..
One of my favorite things about this series continues to be the characters. Minka’s found family and Archer’s brothers are some of my relationships I’ve read in a long time. Whether it’s Fletcher, Mia, FiFi, Aubrey, Timothy, Cato, Felix, every character feels fully developed and important to the story. I love how the author weaves together characters from across the series and even from other books, creating a world that feels rich, connected, and real.
Look, I know if you’ve never read any of these books you could care less about the names of these characters. However, I would highly encourage you to check out this Minka Mayet series for yourself! There are enough books in this series for you to have plenty of summer (and beyond) reading material.
I've absolutely loved this series since the beginning, as well as all of the other series by this incredibly talented author. It was another intense, complex, and intriguing story that will keep you guessing until the very end, and then keep wanting more. Lol! I'm so glad that the next book will be released soon, and will hopefully have the answers for so many questions! Sooo looking forward to reading it!
I have to say that if you haven't already, I would highly recommend reading all of the stories from this amazing author, beginning with The Rollin On series. Many of her series are heavily connected with other ones, as well as the huge amount of character crossover between most of them, which trust me, you will love. All of the stories are absolutely fantastic, unique, passionate, and intriguing. The characters are awesome, lots of humor, drama, action, suspense, and so many unexpected twists that will hook you from beginning to end. Have fun reading!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
I have been patiently (not really) waiting for this book. Sinful Vows left me with my jaw hanging open, so I was excited to finally see how everything played out. Emilia Finn delivered and Sinful Ruin wrecked me. We have watched Minka and Archer build their life, but this story tested them in ways that felt raw and real. Minka struggled with her deepest insecurities and Archer's patience reached a boiling point.
Emilia Finn does such a great job of continuing to showcase Archer's unwavering loyalty and devotion to Minka, while also allowing the opportunity for Minka to be vulnerable, but never sacrificing who she is. I enjoyed watching the growth of these characters through their communication and commitment to one another.
I absolutely loved the interactions Minka and Archer had with their friends and family. Those relationships are what keep me coming back to these stories. Even when other topics are heavy, the banter between the characters helps provide balance so I have a laugh to go along with my heart-break. And in true fashion, Emilia gives us another bomb at the end to prepare us for book 21.
Book 19 left us readers breathless and confused. Sinful Ruin, book 20 continued to keep us perplexed and bewildered. If this was any other author, I might be annoyed but I trust Emilia Finn. Her genius storytelling has been proven to me dozens of times and I believe in her to fix all the problems she creates Lol! The wild ride was worth it in the end. Finn dreams up plots I could never dream up. This book was no exception. All our Copeland friends are in this book plus plenty of time with our Checkmate buddies from another series. But it was never hard to follow or confusing. She makes it all make sense and it just works! Every character has a purpose. She doesn’t just toss them in for the sake of it. Archer and Minka are my all time fave book couple. I felt their pain in this book and it made me love them even more. All the stars for Emilia Finn!
I forever love this series. The build up in this one was just wow. It is probably unhealthy how invested I am in these fictional characters... I spent most of the book hanging on by an emotional thread and definitely did not see that end coming. The emotional turmoil with Minka and Archer in this book was everything. Then add in mafia chaos, some very opinionated Malone brothers and a loveable, unhinged ballerina and I could not put this down.
Minka is hands down one of my favorite FMCs ever. I can relate to Minka on a soul deep level and appreciate the emotional layers coated in a frosty exterior that Emilia has so perfectly created for this character. Archer is also amazing and I live for the scenes with Cato and his priceless banter.
I have never in my entire life wanted to transport myself into a book the way I wanted to transport myself into this book. This book sucked me in and did not let me go a little bit of anxiety, tears laughter, worry, anger I’m pretty sure I’ve fluctuated through all of these emotions. A couple of good surprises, Kane Jay, and Romeo and a whole lot of that devious little ballerina that we all love I always say it, but I’ll say it again. This is probably my favorite in the series. And now we wait not very patiently I might add. Thank you, Emilia Finn for another wonderful stop in Copeland city
This is book 2️⃣0️⃣ so I can’t fully review it without giving away major plot points. You will NOT be disappointed with this series.
This gist is — Girl meets Boy. Boy is detective + Mafia adjacent. Girl is Doctor for the dead+vigilante. Hijinks ensue.
Minka and Archers story is twisty, sexy, and dangerous. Every character is nuanced and well written with their own lives enter-twined with the main story. You won’t regret picking up this series (and then the Underbelly Enchanted series to keep up with everyone).
PLUS we get the next book in this series THIS MONTH. So hurry up and get caught up❕
I did not see this coming. At all! The twists and turns, the hurt and fear, the not knowing and then learning everything. So much to take in. This book healed my heart from the last one in this series. It also opened a big ole can of worms for what’s to come in the future! Emilia Finn is a true storyteller and this may be one of her best! I loved having Soph play a huge role in this book. I loved Minka having Soph to lean on. I hope this series continues forever! Would make great TV!
The cliffhanger we all were waiting for and it was Worth. Every. Word! Emilia Finn is spectacular in bringing us worlds we would want to live in (*** checks notes…never imagined wanting to live in a schmafia world but I digress…). This book had every emotion zinging with my heart bleeding then soaring then laughing. Her characters and books bring me joy. Cannot wait to see where this fantastic series takes us. It’s always the best of surprises from Emilia and I adore her for it!
I openly admit that while the Mayet series has not been my fave of Emilia's writing, I have read everyone released. And for the most part have enjoyed the series. But this one?!? This one is by far my favorite! I found myself holding my breath, worried what I may, or may not, find on the next page! So much pain, and grief in this one. My heart beat just a little faster than I was prepared for, and I find myself anxiously awaiting the next installment! Way to go Finn!
I thought that this story was awesome that the emotional turmoil the couple felt I could feel. Mayet really needed to understand the depth of how her words hurt others and how Archer could take her words to heart. This couple has love growing out of the pages and with this story I think as readers we needed to feel how upset they could get when their world fell apart. I’m glad they worked it out and we understood what happened but it will take time to repair.
If book 19 Sinful Vows didn't gut you,Sinful Ruin will definitely ruin you.All the feels and then some, when the family becomes divided. Archer and Minka have agreed to disagree on many things over their short time together, but has she finally pushed him to far? Will their relationship survive this bump, both are alone and feeling unwanted, shedding more tears than ever.Grab your tissues and settle in for this ride.
Emilia Finn has once again knocked it out of the stratosphere with this one. She left us last time, on A cliff hanger of epic proportions. We wanted to fight the fighter haha… but then this one comes in to break us some more all while hiding secrets and lies. And fixing what was royally Fd up. While still dropping lies and deceit. And then that ending ughh I am so glad there are two releases this month or I would die. Nothing hits like a Finn book.
Sigh. The mastery that is emilia finn will never cease to amaze me. Archer, Minka, the entire family should be on screens everywhere. These books are seriously better than most television shows I've watched. And the emotions! I cried, laughed, sighed, growled a few times, and cried some more. Seriously cannot wait for the next one!
The heartbreak from the last book to this one carried over for thus book but by then Minka and Archer seem to be back on the same track. This story just keeps getting better with each book. It brings me into Copeland with all kinds of emotions each time. I cannot wait to see what happens next because Cordoza definitely ticked off the Malone Brothers -
All the emotions in this one was almost too much! This made my heart hurt for both Minka and Archer as well as everyone else! I was so mad at Archer and even more mad at everyone else for a minute. Thankfully as Emilia does, she breaks our hearts but them she fixes them.
Emila Finn has such a knack for keeping you in the edge of your seat. I was in such a constant state of anxiety during this book because I love these characters so much. Minka and Archer are close friends of mine and I love every chapter of their story. Read the Mayet series and fall in love a bunch of times with all the characters!
This book had me laughing, crying, and everything in between! I love these characters so much and while this one definitely pulled on my heart strings more than others in this series, it was done so well without completely breaking my heart (or maybe she did but put it back together with the banter? Either way, it was so good!) Can’t wait to continue onto the next book😍.
After the cliff hanger at the end of Sinful Vows 6 long months later we finally got to see what happened next and it did not disappoint!! The twist and turns you don’t see coming, the hurt and fear Archer and Minka deal with, and the ending I never imagined! So so good! Thank you Emilia for this incredible series and taking us along for the ride!!
Emilia Finn is brilliant, there’s just no other way to say it, how else book 20 be just as GOOD if not better than book 1. I started this on a Sunday morning and finished before 10pm Sunday night , I could not put it down. The emotions ran high in this one, WOW, I was cursing E.F. at times but it was all worth it !! THIS IS A MUST READ SERIES !!
We've been waiting for what seems like years to find out what was happening with Minka and archer, let me just say it was worth it in the end. So many emotions we're felt by all the characters involved and by myself, I couldn't put this story down. I wish I was better with my words to explain. Thank you emilia for a great read
Hard to realize this whole book takes place in just a few days. Emilia took us from one cliffhanger and the end of the last book, to another one at the end of this one. I could feel Minka and Archer's heartache and pain. Just as they fix things, more problems arise. Can't wait to see what the girls decide to do with the situation presented to them.
After the last book ended with me sobbing, this one picked right where it left off. I can’t say much more without there being spoilers, but damn if my heart doesn’t ache (and the tears flow) when Archer and Minka are having problems.
Beyond Archer and Minka, Cato is (as usual) the standout in this book. I freaking adore that kid.
Ah! If you’re seeing this book for the first time, please go back and read from the start if you’re reading book 19 and wondering if you need book 20….YES! Yes you do!!!!! I love it when Bishop’s and Malone’s reunite! Now, I’m ready for some FiFi and Fletch heat!! BRING.IT.ON.
I have read the previous 19 books in the series and loved them all (the 19th was meh). The 20th, Sinful Ruin, I couldn't get through. To me, it was the same argument between Minka and Archer, she was killing bad guys, he couldn't condone it, blah blah blah. But now, they are separated. I'm just tired of the same old song and nothing new. But that's just me.
The first ~45% was repetitive and annoying to me. It was hard for me to grasp the whole “our marriage is over”. It felt a bit dramatic and over the top after an argument, but the story pulled together and the second half was way better.
Sinful Ruin was everything I expected it to be. Minka’s and Archer’s work and personal life was chaos as usual. Add in the rest of the Malone family and close friends it was really entertaining. Of course the ending left me wanting more.
This book went in so many different ways than I thought it would. The characters development are intense. I always think Emilia's writing can't get any better, but then she surprises me. I can't wait for the next book.
Emelia Finn, what can I say. She knows how to write. I can't even explain all the feels I experienced when reading Sinful Ruin. Loved reading about them all together doing what they do best. The best is yet to come i'm sure.
