Ava Sterling has always lived a sheltered life. As an only child whose father was strict and controlling, she’s used to never being given a choice. When she learns that she’s being married off in an arranged marriage, she is devastated. But she’s also angry. And she vows to ditch Luca Castellano the moment the opportunity to escape arises. Dominic Hale and Ava grew up next door to each other. They were in love as teenagers, but Ava pushed Dominic away, terrified that her father would find out. Dominic stayed away, because he thought that was what Ava wanted. When Dominic sees Ava on Luca Castellano’s arm, he knows he has to intervene. He swoops in, ready to come to her rescue. He lost her once, and he doesn’t plan on making the same mistake twice. It’s clear that the feelings are still there for both of them. But when Ava’s past starts to creep in, and outside forces try to tear them apart, will their love be enough to survive?
Sinful Secrets was such an addictive, emotional ARC and I’m so glad I read it.
Ava’s story pulled me in from page one — growing up sheltered, controlled, and never allowed to choose for herself. Watching her finally step into her own power was beautiful. Her strength felt real, earned, and messy in the best way.
And Dominic? I loved how their second-chance connection felt raw and unfinished, like their hearts had been waiting for the moment they finally collided again. He was protective without being overbearing, and their chemistry hit every single time.
The arranged marriage tension, the danger creeping in from Ava’s past, and the way outside forces kept testing them made the whole story feel high-stakes and emotional. Through it all, the book showed how love can be both a refuge and a fight — and how freedom is something you have to choose.
I loved the book, and I loved what I learned from it: ✨ you’re allowed to choose yourself ✨ real love doesn’t control — it protects and supports ✨ some connections are too deep to break
Received as an arc and even tho the story is violent yet steamy, the writing was repetitive. I expect from a Mafia romance that the sex be a little more meatier. It was explicit but I thought the sex scenes were short and dry. I expect to be clenching my thighs, that’s how I personally know that the sex is phenomenal. Now this is the 2nd mafia romance I’ve read, so I’m giving it 3.25 stars for the change and growth from both characters. Clearly they love each other and it’s sweet that Dominic has a soft spot but let’s turn it up a notch.
Sinful Secrets by E.M. Rose is a slow-burn, secret-laced dark romance that leans heavily into emotional intensity, devotion, and morally grey choices. From the opening chapter, the story draws you into Dom and Ava’s shared past and refuses to let go.
This is very much a second-chance romance, rooted in an off-page childhood connection that explains the depth of feeling between the characters early on. While their relationship occasionally borders on insta-love, the history between them makes it believable and emotionally grounded. There’s a sense that these two have never truly let go of one another, even when circumstances forced them apart.
Ava took a little time for me to warm up to. She’s stubborn, fiercely loyal, and determined to fix everyone else’s problems while ignoring her own pain. That said, her emotional arc is one of the most rewarding aspects of the book. Watching her strength unfold gradually, rather than all at once, made her feel real and human by the end.
Dom is where this book truly shines. He’s the definition of a morally grey hero, walking a razor-thin line between danger and devotion. There’s a quiet intensity to him, a sense that he’s constantly holding himself back for the sake of the woman he loves. His protectiveness never feels casual; it’s absolute, unwavering, and deeply tied to his identity. If possessive but emotionally driven MMCs are your weakness, Dom will hit every note.
What I appreciated most was the pacing of the secrets. E.M. Rose allows revelations to unfold gradually, giving each one emotional weight rather than rushing toward shock value. Every interaction between Dom and Ava, whether tense, tender, or confrontational, feels charged with unresolved history and longing. Their chemistry builds slowly, simmering beneath the surface until it finally ignites.
The writing is vivid and intentional, paired with a pace that never loses momentum, and the emotional stakes remain high from start to finish. The romance feels intense but purposeful, and the spice is well balanced, enhancing the connection rather than overwhelming it.
If you enjoy dark romance with slow-burn tension, morally grey devotion, and a hero who would burn the world down for the woman he loves, Sinful Secrets is well worth the read.
Thank you so much to the author for the opportunity to read this as an ARC for my honest opinion and review!
An Addictive, Sinful, Slow-Burn Masterpiece Sinful Secrets by E.M. Rose grabbed me from the very first page and refused to let go. Dom and Ava’s story isn’t just another dark romance it feels raw, intimate, and beautifully messy in all the ways that make a forbidden love story unforgettable.
Dom is the kind of morally gray hero who walks that razor-thin line between danger and devotion. There’s this quiet intensity to him, like he’s constantly holding back a storm he doesn’t trust himself to unleash. And Ava… she’s the perfect match for that storm. Strong, soft, stubborn, and breaking in ways she refuses to show. Their chemistry is the kind that doesn’t just spark it ignites, slowly and torturously, until the tension practically vibrates off the page.
What I loved most is how E.M. Rose lets their secrets peel back layer by layer. Every reveal hits with emotional weight, and every moment between Dom and Ava whether they’re fighting, flirting, or trying to deny what’s so obviously inevitable feels charged and real. Their relationship builds with this irresistible push and pull that kept me up way too late just trying to get one more chapter.
The writing is lush without ever being overdone, the pacing is addictive, and the emotional stakes stay high from start to finish. And the spice? Perfectly balanced steamy, intense, and rooted in character instead of shock value.
If you love dark, secret-laced, slow-burn romance with a hero who would burn the world for the woman he swore he shouldn’t want, Sinful Secrets will absolutely devour you. A bold, emotional, sinfully satisfying 5-star read. I’m already thinking about a re-read.
If you love slow burn, morally grey & possessive MMC that would burn the world down for his woman, mafia (adjacent), second chance romance, and a “touch her and die” trope, you will DEVOUR this.
I LOVED this book. I am a heavy romance/dark romance reader, so the trigger warnings didn’t phase me (I appreciate that they are included at the beginning of the book though) and I went into it ready for a while ride! Generally speaking, 4/5 stars all around!
I found Ava, the FMC a little difficult to like at first, but you just have to wait around for her and I promise she’s more likeable by the end. She’s stubborn, wants to save everyone but herself, and then there’s Dom…oh sweet cinnamon roll filthy-mouthed Dominic. Their relationship felt insta-lovey to me, BUT they have an off-page "childhood sweethearts" history together that makes it make sense. If deeply romantic, possessive vibes like “Ava Sterling is back in my orbit, and she’s mine. I will never let her go again,” are something you enjoy, you will absolutely eat this book up! Their chemistry is hot, their need to save one another is hotter, and with the promise of an HEA what do you have to lose?
The writing in the first half felt a bit choppy with lots of short sentences and quick thoughts that moved on without any transition, but I believe that’s just part of getting to know new-to-you authors and their writing styles. The story has a quick and engaging pace, and there’s a great balance of plot to smut! I thoroughly enjoyed it and will absolutely be recommending this to others!
Thank you E.M. Rose for my copy! This book releases on 1/13/26, and should definitely be on your TBR for the coming year!
I devoured this. And I had to fight tears multiple times.
Thus girl has a fuck*d up hand of cards we call life. Her dad wasn’t worth anything and her mom was maybe worse. Like I loathe that woman!!!
The one guy she wanted she thought.. key word.., THOUGHT she couldn’t have because her dad made her believe she had no choice. That she didn’t deserve anything. Again we were fighting tears.
How does she cope? Not in a good way and my heart was hurting for this girl.
Some things happen, she runs into her man that wasn’t her man anymore but yeah, kinda messed up how he gets her back but I understand why he did it.
Fast forward, her mom comes back causing all kinds of BS and being sneaky to try and get her way. Like what kind of mother does that?! Again we loathe dislike hate whatever you want to call it, we don’t like her!!
Now after her attempts to get her way and putting our girl thru more sh!t I guess you can say we get a HEA.
There’s trauma, healing and I mean I can relate.
Some heavy subjects are touched but it works out and i HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU READ WHEN IT COMES OUT.
Excuse me while I fight tears again

From the very first chapter I was completely locked in. Ava and Dom’s connection feels messy, intense and so painfully real. Their relationship isn’t perfect — it’s unhinged, obsessive, protective to fault — but that’s exactly what made it impossible to look away.
Ava’s situation broke my heart. You can feel how trapped she is, how badly she wants control over her own life. And then there’s Dom, who has clearly loved her his whole life and would burn down the world to keep her safe. He makes questionable choices, sure, but the love behind them? It hits hard.
The longing, the tension, the history between them — it all just works. I found myself rooting for them even when everything around them was falling apart.
I genuinely loved this story, every chaotic, emotional, spicy second of it. If you love intense romance with real stakes and characters who will fight tooth and nail for each other, I highly recommend 🤍🔥
Morally grey men are my downfall. Dominic Hale is definitely that. He would burn the world down for her. This book was unputdownable had it read in just a few hours. Ava and Dom grew up living next door to each other. Ava lived under a controlling father. Her mother had left when she was like 3 abandoning her. Ava broke Dom’s heart to protect him from her father. Years later Dom was still in love with Ava. He saved her from an arranged marriage. He takes her away to hide her until they figured it out. She gets taken and Dom is angry with himself and the world until he rescues her from her estranged mom and her mom’s boyfriend(which is the guy she was supposed to marry). She discovers that they were trying to use her to breed a male heir. Dom kills the man and her mom’s boyfriend gets away. Dom and Ava get there happily ever after though. Lots of plot and plenty of spice. Great fast read!
I received this as an ARC read and this is my honest review.
If you haven't read this then you are soooo doing things wrong!!!!
Ava is a great FMC but Dom is holy !!!!! This man is what they mean when they say will burn the world down for her!!!! He has wanted to save her for years and now he may just get his chance......
This story catches your attention right away and holds on to you til the very end. It has twist and turns and is just so damn good! (Also you will hate certain people with the fire of a thousand burning souls). That's how you know it's a great book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 🚩🚩🚩( always check) 💋🔥💋🔥
Thank you so much for allowing me to be apart of your beautiful story . Loved every damn page!!!
Sinful Secrets was a quick page-turner that kept me hooked from start to finish. The evolution of the relationships was genuinely intriguing—following Dominic and Ava’s dynamic unfold, along with her growing friendships with Landon and Kaleb, was such a fun experience. I loved watching how each connection added a new layer to the story.
There’s a perfect mix of action, tension, and a little “save the girl” energy that kept things moving in an exciting way. I was definitely invested in seeing where the twists would take the characters next.
My only wish was to see Ava take even more of her own power and self-worth into account as everything unfolded. Even so, this was still a great read that kept me entertained all the way through!
Addictive to say the least! I devoured this book in 2 days! This book has a little bit of everything forced proximity, arranged marriages, mafia ties, bdsm, slow burn! I feel it is very hard to write a mafia type story but this author did that! The only complaint I have and that's why this book isn't a full 5 stars for me is that the slow burn wasn't truly a slow burn and that the spicy scenes could be played out a tiny bit better. Overall though I loved this book and will continue to reccomend it to my besties! I look forward to more from this author!! Spice: 🌶🌶🌶

Rounding up to 4.5 stars this was such an amazing read. Hard to put down. The spice was 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but there was also plenty of plot to keep me interested throughout as well. I will forever love a touch her and die/burn the world down for my woman type of book boyfriend and Dominic is top tier in that arena. Ava had so much growth I was proud of her at the end for realizing how much Dominic loved her and she wasn’t broken.
☆ARC REVIEW☆ I loved this book!! This was hard to put down!! Every chapter grabbed me and kept me wanting to read more!! The spice!!🌶🌶🌶🌶 The plot!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The chemistry between Dom and Ava!! If you love slow burn, morally grey & possessive MMC that would burn the world down for his woman, drama, surprises, second chance romance, and a “touch her and die” trope, you will DEVOUR this. Thank you E. M. Rose for my copy! This book releases 1.13.26
Growing up being controlled by your father, then being arranged by your father to marry the head of the mafia son, then being bought/saved from the mafia by your first crush and then on the run from the mafia, oh boy is this book a whirlwind. Let’s just say the head of the mafia and her father are not happy about this. Ava and Dom fight to be together. This was a fast read for me. Read it in a few hours.
I loved this book. I was hooked from the very beginning. Ava a very tough woman. She goes through a lot of trauma but she never breaks. Dom is the boy next door. Childhood sweetheart until the unthinkable happens. Dom is very protective of Ava after everything. My first book by E M Rose and I would definitely read more of her books. If you love a touch her and 💀vibe this is the book for you. The plot was amazing and it kept me interested.
“He’s cracking me wide open again, I’m afraid I won’t be able to put myself back together after this.”
Let me just say , I absolutely ADORED Ava. I relate so much to her I felt this book is such a person level. I truly adored watching her grow and learn to accept the love she desperately deserves.
This spice is definitions a 4 aswell! So well written and my rose couldn’t keep up. 🤣❤️
He has always wanted her, watched over her, and protected her, the complete opposite of her father. When her dad arranges her marriage, the way he steps in and takes charge to help her had me hooked. But she is completely done with men making choices for her, and watching her push back made the story even better.
This one was intense, emotional, and so satisfying. Such a good read!
*ARC Review*. The story of Dom and Ava is dark and a quick read. The passion between the two characters is evident and Dom’s desire to protect Ava is wonderful but there were definitely pieces that made each character hard to like at times. Overall a good story that keeps you drawn in and doesn’t take long to read.
So I liked this book, but it was fast paced (its a shorter book) and a lot of back and forth. The ending was good and I’d most likely still read the next.
I loved it!!! Dom is top tier book boyfriend material and had me falling for him in no time 🥰 such a good read!! The plot and spice both had me wanting to read more and I ended up finishing it in one day. Def a recommend!
