My Killer Blind Date: A steamy, twisty romantic thriller where the perfect date might be a serial killer
Two can play this game. . . will it be love or murder?
By day, Margot is a body mover for a funeral home in Chicago. By night, she scours through true-crime chatrooms and Reddit, determined to solve her friend Lana’s disappearance. Concerned about Margot’s reclusive lifestyle, her other friend Georgina decides to her up on a blind date.
Margot arrives at the restaurant ready to get the date over and done with, thinking it will go the way they always do, but to her surprise, the man sitting on the opposite side of the table is handsome, charismatic, and . . . perfect.
Too perfect. Creepily perfect. Just like Lana described.
Margot’s killer instincts kick in. Is this the man responsible for Lana's disappearance? Why is he so good at this? He must have done this before. Multiple times. . . What if mister serial dater is the serial killer she’s been looking for all along?
But to catch him, she’ll have to keep dating him.

This was such a delightful, yet grounded read! When I first started it, I wasn't too sure if it was going to be for me because I'm not a huge chick-lit/contemporary romance reader. However, just a few chapters in, the mystery/thriller-ish aspects of this book began to kick in and I found myself very invested. With this book, Sharpe has achieved a lovely mix of quirky, wholesome romcom energy and a grittier, intriguing mystery.
The narrative was well developed with chapters often ending on cliffhangers, which made you want to keep reading. Margot - the main character - was an interesting POV to read through. Her determination and grit stood out, but she was also helplessly human and prone to bad decisions which added dimension to her. Liam was fine, I really liked George and I found Margot's friendship with her fun to read. The romance was readable! I did not feel smothered by it and I thought there was a good balance between romance and mystery.
I liked how the first half of the book captured the continuous back and forth that plagues a woman when she agrees to go on a date with a man she doesn't know. While this was exaggerated in Margot's case, I still felt it was indicative of how genuinely terrifying it is to be around a man. The way Margot prepared for a date as if preparing for war - completely rooted in reality. Her mental conflicts and indecisiveness to trust Liam reflected how difficult it is to know if you're going to be safe with a man. Good stuff.
The mystery was well-developed - I did intuit where the plot was going to go in terms of the reveal, but that didn't harm my enjoyment. I do think that the motive introduced didn't fully work for me. I also wish we had slightly more insight into certain characters. At times the narrative felt a bit repetitive.
But all in all, I enjoyed this far more than I expected and anyone that is into romance and more light-hearted mysteries should give this a go!

This was such a brilliant read, I wasn’t expecting it to be good as it actually was.
It had me gripped from page one, I also loved that it had humour, you can’t help but love Margot and what she stands for. However it still had the mystery/thriller aspect to it also with a sprinkle of romance.
It was so fast paced, kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and I finished it in one sitting.

My expectations for this book took an early hit when our female main character, Margot, risks her brand new job by leaving a corpse in her van so she won't be late for a date...
Margot is, unfortunately, a bit pathetic. She spends most of the novel pining for her missing roommate, Zoe, and essentially allows her entire existence to revolve around finding her, primarily via Reddit, obviously.
Liam somehow manages to be almost more pathetic than Margot, and together they make a frustrating pair. Liam has mesmerising, bulging forearms, while Margot is so impossibly teeny tiny that she's constantly rising onto her tiptoes.
Margot repeatedly convinces herself Liam might be a serial killer, only for those bulging forearms to make her forget all about it moments later. Meanwhile, Liam finds Margot endlessly fascinating despite the fact that the main personality trait we see is her being rude and obnoxious to him whenever she decides he's probably a murderer again. The man has the patience of a saint and barely questions why she's treating him as though he's just slapped her with a wet fish every second chapter.
Other low points for me: Margot overhears all of her friends saying awful things about her while she's hidden in a nearby dressing room. Naturally, she has an adult conversation with them... except she doesn't. This is Margot, so she runs out of the bridal shop like Phoebe in Friends. Don't worry though—it's barely mentioned again and the friendships carry on as if nothing happened. We also have two grown women described as "squeeing and jumping" with excitement and "squealing" over Justin Bieber's Sorry.
Well, I'm the one that's sorry, this book just wasn't for me. I can usually get on board with an annoying, unhinged FMC and even suspend my disbelief for a healthy amount of implausibility, but the twist simply wasn't a strong enough payoff to justify 374 pages of frustration and cringe.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

It’s been 6 months since Margot’s best friend Zoe disappeared without a trace and even though everyone else is moving on, Margot is struggled to let go. In an attempt to appease her worried friend George, she agrees to go on a blind date with Liam.
There is instant chemistry, until Margot spots some connections between Liam and the man Zoe met the night she disappeared…
This is a totally vibes read. Margot is a hot mess whilst still being endearing and funny. It’s definitely best not to examine her decisions too much as they are very questionable.
Although I did guess the twist at the end, the mystery was maintained for the majority of the book as I began questioning my own, as well as Margot’s, judgement.
A delicious dark and funny read.

Rounded up for 3.5 stars.
This was a slow starter for me, but once the mystery aspect got going, I did find myself having a great time.
Margot, the FMC does have some truly questionable ideas, and I felt that Liam fell too hard too fast without much reason. But, I found him to be rather adorable at the same time and spent a large portion of the book questioning whether he was the killer or not.
The banter was good, and even though it's quite predictable I did enjoy the book overall and kept wanting to read on to find out who really had killed Zoe.
If you like ceramic squirrels named Ramone and bulging forearms you'll enjoy this book.

My Killer Blind Date is a twisty and steamy romantic suspense novel from Sienna Sharpe.
Margot is just as frustrating as she is tenacious and she is determined to find out what happened to her best friend Zoe, especially as there might be a serial killer out there. She starts dating Liam, who is delightful, but could he be the killer? And so it goes …
I loved watching Margot stumble about and make ridiculous choices, even when she’s onto something. Liam is a charming love interest and they have lots of bantery chemistry. Light as a feather, but so entertaining. Enjoy!
Thank you so much Sienna Sharpe and Random House UK for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

I loved this humorous and twisted story!!

This was a fun and engaging read.
The narrative has two distinct directions. Firstly, Margo and Liam… will they won’t they? And secondly, what has happened to Margo’s best friend Zoe after she mysteriously vanishes?
I liked what the writer attempted here in terms of the thriller-come-romance-mash-up. I don’t think either genre takes itself too seriously, which was refreshing.
I don’t think this is one for you if you’re fancying an intellectual mystery to uncover, but was a very quirky, upbeat read and I had fun keeping up with the eventful plot.
Lots of twists and turns and a satisfying final reveal.
