I loved being back in this story. There is something about Remus and his crazy abusive bullshit that keeps me coming back for more. LOL But there were a couple grammatical errors or facts the author forgot.
For example: Remus and his sister are god like deities that don't need to eat but can. When his sister's pet is killed, the author writes Xion was so depressed she wouldn't eat. Hmmm okay?
I will be reading the next one.

OMFG YESS THIS WAS SO GOOOD!!! (May contain teensy spoilers, proceed with caution)
It's rare for a second book to top the first, especially for a sequel. I can't wait for Book 3!
The plot and world building was overwhelmingly SUPERB! And that's saying something because I'm usually all in for the romantic development + smut.
I picked up Book 2 without re-reading Book 1, and THANK GOODNESS it all still made sense.
REMUS and IRIS had endured SO MUCH. Book 2 picks up after the destruction of planet Earth, with Remus towing Iris back home with him, as his bonded partner (and spoils of war?). While I enjoyed the story, there was so much that will happen; barely giving the MCs time to be in love or lovey dovey, NOT when there was still so much mistrust and anger brimming in their newfound bond.
IRIS was caught in a crossfire of mixed emotions - hurt, anger and betrayal over Remus's destruction of her planet, her own brother's betrayal, and probably survivor's guilt too. Oh, and let's not forget Remus never gave her a choice to actually live or die. The male made that choice when he bonded with her, to save her life. Apparently, HE COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT HER *smirks*. I believe her emotional wreckage was justified, seeing how she had lost her entire world and got uprooted to an alien planet, with an alien partner. The male needed to be aware of the shit he had done.
Luckily, on REMUS's part, we started seeing some humane reactions from him, even if he was merely REACTING to Iris's emotions through their bond, in order to help her settle in, and basically, he just wants her to accept him, their bond and her new life. What the silly (unfeeling) male can't seem to get into his head is...you can't forget epic shit like that overnight or forgive easily. The first half of the story focuses on their very distorted relationship riddled with longing and resentment - in a good way. Sadly, the smut still feels 2-dimensional (stiff) to me. Iris didn't feel like an active participant in their sexcapades, it's like she just goes along for the ride whenever Remus comes onto her. It would be nice to see her "actively" seeking Remus out and showing affection some day. It will make her appear less like a victim, and a consensual participant. I don't want to read about a dead fish in bed with a hot guy. It's so UNSEXY!
The character development for REMUS will be huge in Book 2, and it was nice to see the cracks forming and when shit hits the fan, WOW, you can truly see the difference of Remus POST VS PRE Iris. It shows how much he had changed for her, how he had softened and the amount of leeway he gave the female human just because he had feelings for her, as opposed to his enemies. Also, the BIGGEST BOMB? We get to learn about REMUS's history and his family.
My favourite angst scene? When REMUS's memories were warped, and WOW, THAT WAS MY FAVOURITE FREAKING PART. I'm such a sucker for heartbreak. Because it will rip the blinders off Iris to make her realize the truth of Remus's affections for her, however he was capable of. Needless to say, girl regretted and mourned over it.
OVERALL the ending left me with a mild sucker punch. I anticipate the NEW ADVENTURE awaiting Remus and Iris as they overcome another milestone in their relationship together. I feel sad over the tiny life loss (that's all I will say), but I hope in Book 3, we'll be able to see a better relationship development filled with love, honesty, trust and of course passionate loving.

Haley does it again. I am obsessed with this series and everyone I recommended it to ends up loving it as well.
This story picks up right after the ending of Genesis and you get to see Iris and Remus adjust to life off earth. Just when you think there may be progress shit goes down to throw a wrench into our lovebirds story.
It’s heartbreaking and you are rooting for them to overcome the odds. Remus remains elite and his dedication throughout the book to prove to iris that she belongs with him is so extraordinary. He is one of my favorite MMCs.
Iris who frustrated the hell out of me in book one grows on me significantly in this book. I am excited to see how that continues in the next one.
I am impatiently waiting for the third installment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, It built upon everything I wanted from the first book. I loved seeing Remus and Iris start to understand each other and truly develop something. They both went through a lot of growth specifically Remus.
My chest clenched at certain parts, it was painful but I liked it.
I loved it, I can’t wait for book 3.

i can't believe this took so long to read the next installment but here we are.
ᯓ★ to begin with, like i mentioned in my updates, its crazy to believe how insanely powerful remus is--we are told how powerful he is every other line--yet iris is so unbelievably ordinary. she has no powers, no special elements except for she fights back against remus. i guess her humanity is attractive to him? but otherwise, there is nothing special about her, like honestly. reading this second book made that painfully obvious and while its beautiful, the things remus feels for her, its hard to see why he needs her so much when i haven't read the other book in a while.
ᯓ★ the plot of this book is interesting. basically, remus is growing to his larger than life status (mature celestvine) and he goes to see his mother and while he's there, his mother erases the bond with iris and he comes back not knowing her. he then goes and which is actually unbelieveable to do like what. why would you do this like you want us to believe that remus is OTT obsessed yet does this even tho an innate part of him should remember the bond? that just made me feel like i was getting cheated on myself. he also goes back to his old self in hitting and punching her which i didn't enjoy lol.
ᯓ★ again, there is another book after this which is entirely unneeded! yess i love love remus but i think it could've ended here. im interested to see how even more supernatural he'll become but like compared to iris, she is so boring and he is literally god. how much more different can you make them be? we saw a glimpse of how the bond affects her and then its taken away. i dont like that honestly.
𖦹 i enjoyed this because it was entertaining, but it didn't add much to iris's story imo, just built remus up, and yes he is amazing but iris is so unbelieveably boring. the humanity tangent is tired. also, there is never any jealousy scenes. i'd love to see another powerful being challenge remus.

An excellent sequel that I completely inhaled, it surpassed all of my expectations. While I also enjoyed the first book, the second book really improves on the world-building, pacing, and immediately hits its stride. It's an electrifying continuation, full of action and emotion.
The plot picks up right after the events of the first book, where Remus (MMC) and Iris (FMC) travel to his home planet. We're introduced to more of his lineage and childhood, and exactly why he's so different from other Leviathan. It's engaging from then on and none of the characters escape consequences or heartbreak.
Remus is one of the most interesting protagonists I've ever read in a sci-fi romance and he really goes through it in this book. This man is down bad and made many sacrifices to show her. Iris is his perfect counterpart and she stays true to her character. She's just as stubborn and brave when it comes to Remus.
The best part of this book is definitely the improvement on their romance and relationship. Both characters experienced growth and emotional depth, and I loved in particular how much tension they had chasing each other. Their relationship is frequently challenged and the ending was well earned by them.
While we were given answers to many things, it ends with just as many questions. Definitely looking forward to the third book.

Completely nailed it! What an epic
This book takes you places you were NOT expecting. There's world-building, side stories, side romances, character depth and relationship development that feels authentic.
The story picks up where Book 1 left off. Iris has chosen life but very firmly, not Remus. She needs to acclimatise to new threats and figure out the point of her existence now Earth is lost to her. She also needs to realise that humans destroyed their own world before Remus came along.
I like that this book spanned a proper length of time, that the imagined alien world had its own landscape and culture and time zones. That the background and upbringing of Remus was explored. Felt nervous for the characters when the 'threats' came to the surface and was not disappointed with the end. Very excited for book 3 whenever the author is ready. I do hope a proper explanation is given about why Remus went to Earth as 'Xions revenge' and the missed explanation about why he was depriving himself and couldn't feed off someone other than Iris.

I absolutely loved the second book in the Pet series! Pet: Torment continues Remus and Iris’s journey, and I would have happily read another 200 pages of Iris fighting for Remus to remember her and get his memories back.
I cannot wait for the third book. I’m so interested to see how much Remus has actually changed now that his powers have been fully unleashed. I also have so many questions left! What happened to Iris’s brother, and will she ever see him again? What’s going to happen with Remus and his mother? And what kind of drama is going to unfold once they finally reach their homeland, a place neither of them has ever actually been to or seen?
There is still so much of their story I want to know, and unfortunately, there is currently no release date for the third book, which is incredibly disappointing because I need it on my Kindle ASAP!

Absolutely loved it. It developed even more beyond the first book. Iris continues to evolve which is exciting to read and I’m so curious to see how she and Remus continue to develop in book 3. The world building is very exciting but so often we are like Iris, trapped in one space or another. It’ll be interesting to see if and how that expands in future books. I feel mixed on whether I want Iris to become more powerful as it seems like she’s the humanity Remus needs to stay sane. However, it’s stressful how fragile she is. All in, excellent book that was even better than the first book, which I also loved. Great job Haley Inez!

"Ugh", I exclaim with irony & irritation of how frequently "ngh" "ach" arg" and other 3 letter word combos were used as exclamations in the book with very little other descriptions occuring.
In book 1 I was happy to turn my brain off a bit and go with the vibes. In book 2, I found the glaring repeats of information, inaccuracies with things from book 1 and this book, and the lack of character depth too much to be able to ignore.

Great new instalment of the Pet series, been waiting for this for a while.
Overall good second book, I think some of the questions that needed answering were there. The book I feel, was a bit rushed in comparison to the first one this could be owing to publishing commitments.
I liked where the story is going and am intrigued for the next one!

It was an excellent book. When I read the first book Pet Genesis I loved it but I had NO IDEA there would be a book two that continued Iris and Remus story after they leave Earth. If you think Iris and Remus's story becomes this boring love story in book two boy are you in for a shocking surprise. I enjoyed this continuing story and look forward to the next book.

Such a great read. It’s one of the harder stories to predict because Haley has created an entire multiverse full of of unique species. It’s a wonderful adventure and love-ish story. HAHA, just read it to understand how the characters develop purpose and deep relationships based on survival and an odd sense of devotion.

I’m looking forward to book three. I’m enjoying how this series isn’t just a sappy, love bombing, spicy, lacking/losing the plot mess. Book one and two kept me on my toes. The suspense, plot twist, and drama were EVERYTHING. Whew! A++!! Keep writing and using that imagination!

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. It doesn’t really compare to the first book in the series and I think this has to do with the fact that the author humanized Remus in our eyes and I didn’t really like that 🥲

This wasn't quite as good as #1 but I still read it in a day. I just really like the characters! There are some plot holes but overall I don't mind them.

I wanted to really like this book but I got really bored going back and forth with Remus not remembering Iris. I didnt feel as invested in the characters anymore, just felt a bit dragged out.
